[Q] CWM for Telus Facinate - Fascinate General

I have a Telus Fascinate SGH-T959D and have rooted it with one click.
I am having issues getting CWR to install. The phone is running 2.3.3 and wondering which CWR file I should install? Any links to the file and I guess I will have to do this through Odin.. correct?
I have found this file http://www.mediafire.com/?6x5utoca59et7o9 and wondering if it will work?

I'm also trying to figure this out. I rooted my girlfriend's phone months ago and spent hours on here and failed to make cwm recovery work
I did get a custom rom working but fast forward to day I did a data wipe and the phone boots to a black screen. The stock recovery is basically useless leaving Odin the only way to flash whi h I'm not really comfortable with from prior close calls with it.

I got my bricked fascinate fixed and restored to 2.2 using this
(docs.google.com/open?id=0B6hh_wIMLWMgZjcwMjc5ZmUtMTEwYS00YjMxLTkzNzMtY2E3Y2M2YTBkYWQx)
it should work for you guys

Thanks for the post but I haven't bricked the phone.
Mine is still working but I can't get CWM to work and thus I can't get a ICS rom loaded on it.
That is what I am asking for.
Any help would very much be appreciated.

Can't root, did before though

Ok so I've done a bit of searching and asking on androidforums but nobody can figure out my an answer to my problem. Alright, first off originally the phone had android 1.5 but when sprint released the 2.1 update I did it. From there, I used regaws tutorial on rooting the official 2.1 release which worked great. Basically I was on a mission at this point, a mission to try out all the 2.1 based custom rims. I had been using the rom manager app for its ability to wipe and flash new roms without even rebooting to recovery. As you are probably aware, to do anything with rom manager, you have to have their clockwork mod recovery flashed, which is simple to do with this app. So one day I wiped and flashed a new rom, aloysius I think, and after it was trying to boot the new rom it gave me some error message and the installation failed. I think at this point I tried to restore my nandroid, which also didn't work, I'm guessing that you have to be using the same recovery you were using when you created the nandroid? No matter what I did from recovery I could not restore my nandroid, as a last ditch effort I did a factory wipe and then rebooted. I didn't think it would reboot at all, honestly I was way scared and thought that I had bricked the phone but after about 5 minutes it finished booting up. Now I don't understand why or how, but when it came to it was quite obvious, I was back at stock 2.1. I immediately look in the app tray for the superuser app and obviously it isn't there, I've been dealing with the phone as is for about a month. A couple of weeks ago I decided to get back to work, sat down at the computer and tried to root it again using the same exact method. After like 5 attempts I get the same problem, I get to the step where command prompt spells out "UNREVOKED" really big but I notice that instead of having a "$" like it shows in the picture I have a "#". At this point the guide instructs you to open the Superuser app on the app tray on the phone, sure enough, I don't have one. I have tried this probably like 7 times all with the same result. I've even tried to install that .6 update to patch whatever remnant of root access I have and go from there as I'm sure the fact I was rooted once and lost it has something to do with my failure. I've tried running RUU's many times as well and always wind up getting an error 171 USB connection error. I havent heard of anyone else having an issue like this. I'm not sure whether I posted this thread in the right place to really get help either so if this needs to be moved to development or whatever don't hesitate. I'd really appreciate anyone trying to figure this out as I am tired of running the slow stock rom but have exhausted virtually every option that I am aware of, PLEASE HELP ME!
I know everyone is probably still reading that book I posted, but once you get to the end lol please gimme some advice, i've tried everything and don't wanna live with the phone as is for the next year....
It's a little hard to read your original post, but I'll do my best to help. From the sound of it you may still have root.
I haven't had to root on stock 2.1 install, so I'm not familiar with the new method. If you get to a bash shell or terminal prompt that is a '#' rather than a '$', you still have root.
You said that you did a factory wipe on the phone. Did you RUU or did you simply wipe through recovery? Are you still able to get to the clockwork recovery?
If you can get back to your modded recovery, you're golden. I would STRONGLY recommend you flash the newest Amon_RA. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4898505&postcount=1
If you can get that far, you should just be able to wipe and flash a new ROM.
have you tried to update your sync/drivers on your computer lately?

Oh well I finally got it all figured out, had to rum the ruu twice back to back whole the phone was still frozen at the bootloader. From there I finally was able to re root it.

[GUIDE] Sprint sph p100 stock firmware RECEOVERY: last resort.

Ok i decided i post what i did to recovery my sprints tab from a bad kernel flash that i didn't install clock work recovery, I thought my tab was a lost cause which i even chatted with hsn were i bought mine at for a replacement which would've took up to 30days.. So awhile i wait for that i decided to try and get it working till i get the prepaid label lol
Matter what i did it kept getting stuck at the samsung screen and couldn't get into recovery but download mode work luckly. i tried all kernels listed and it still got stuck which at the time i thought my tab was bricked or semi brick.
What i did is keep searching for the stock firmware which was hard to find but i found this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=9753941#post9753941
Heres a direct link http://www.multiupload.com/WDKOUJSM2G
Thanks to ZoinksS2k for the tab sprint no modem firmware
And downloaded the stock no modem firmware the modem one is listed too but it will kill your gps and 3g might not work so i just did the no modem one.
So i downloaded it and odin was package with it and i couldn't get it to detect my tab in download mode ony when the tab was off it detected it..
So i tried heimdall and at first i couldn't get it to flash the start button was grayed out because i was putting the tar file into pda/code so i open the tar file and found factory.rfs param.ifs and cache.rfs and dbdata.rfs so i loaded all thoes in the heimfall boxes and than loaded the stock zimage which is in the tar too.
And than i flashed and saw the samsung screen and it went right pass it and played the samsung splash screen so i knew i was getting somewhere so it got stuck on the next samsung screen again.. So i turn it off and hold home button and volume up button than i push the power button and hold all 3 buttons till i saw the samsung screen and i left go the power button and the stock recovery loaded right up
So i did the wipe data/factory reset and i also did the wipe cache data just in case but im sure just the factory reset would work, And i restarted the tab and it went pass all screens and it loaded android!!! And everything was working 3g wifi gps and everything else.
So hopefully this guide will help others as a last resort if you ony get the samsung screen and download mode ony,If you get the receovery than just do the factory wipe.
This is worth a try first than sending it back to samsung and having to wait too get your tab back It sure saved me from having to send it back too hsn or samsung.
If you want you can thank me if this help you for providing the info
Gordesky,
Any idea how to go back to stock firmware + stock modem and all that from using the voodoo kernel? I have CWM Recovery 3.0 working.
Because, after going into Voodoo CWM Recovery, using wipe data/factory reset still keeps the kernel that I installed on - which is what makes my camera screwy.
If you want to go back to fully stock then follow his instructions and flash the stock kernel from the Zephyr thread. I actually am in the same boat as the OP and followed his instructions and now I'm fully back to stock.
Yep just do what I said which the tar file also have the stock kernel too.
Right now im on the voodoo kernel which works perfect except that cdrom problem but camera works for me so im gonna still with.this kernel so far. It seems the new sprint update doesint work right with the voodoo kernel problaby why I dont have any problems because I didint install the sprint update.
So when you go back too stock and want too give the voodoo another try dont install the sprint update when it asks you too, And everything should work other than the sdcard cdrom problems, Which I can deal with till it gets fixed because I do love the speed of this voodoo kernel
And the sound
Thank you gordesky1 for posting your experience because I was going through the exact same thing and I was at a loss as to how to resolve it. Unfortunately I did install the update but I'm pretty sure if I flash the same files again that I will go back to the original rom if that's necessary. The big problem with that is that the exchange fix in the update was something i was waiting for =\ so I think i'm going to wait and see if some of these issues are fixed in the next update but I wonder if we have to get Boushh a Sprint tab though =\ every day I curse myself for not getting a t-mobile or at least a Verizon tab *sigh*
No problem
Ya tell me about it... Bad thing for me is the sprint was my ony option which i got it because hsn were i bought it from had a flex pay on this tab which they ony have the sprint tab, and at the time i couldint pay 400 or 600$ right out. And i also got a 3years warranty on top of it from them even if i break it or drop it anywere which i pretty much got for free because they made a mistake at first with some software
The other tabs have cheaper 3g too like 5gb for 15 too 30$ a month.. But so far sprint is treating me good and the 3g has been stable so far and pretty fast loading webpages and can usely watch a youtube video but dont want too use up my monthy usage lol i usely use up too 500 too 600mbs max out of 2g and i useit every day and even download apps with it when im not near a wifi spot and listen too pandora too so i was suprized i didint get close too the 2gb limit yet.
Hopefully this thread will help more and save them from having too send it back too samsung or were they got it from, i know how it feels not having this tab which i use everyday at work.
I knew not to flash the modem from the restore package posted but when I tried to restore I used the .pit and the .tar. Failed at modem. So, being dumb I flashed the modem file. ugh.
Now I know all you need to do is flash the .tar, nothing else, no pit.
Your Post Saved Me!!!!!

Your welcome and glad it helped I figure it was worth posting sense it brought my tab back too life which i thought i would've had too sent it back and waited a month or so, And wanted others too get there tab back too life with out playing the wait game which i really hate .. lol
this worked! I was able to get rid of CWM, my tab is 100% stock again! thanks a bunch!

I flash the above .tar and .pit with Odin and I still can't get rid of CWM. I had CWM 3.0 working. Then I flashed a Kernel (Khasmek) with kernel flasher and the damn thing froze on the splash screen. So I odin and it doesn't do a full factory reset. CWM folder is still there. Does anbody know how to completely revert back to stock firmware?
I basically want to start over from scratch and never use Kernel flasher.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I am having the exact same problem, really wish I had read your post before I attempted to get CWM on my sprint galaxy tab.
I believe the update failed for me due to mismatch baseband (EB28) and system build (DJ30), I am looking for a roto backup copy of system build EB28, if anyone have it, please help and upload!
Many thanks.
I flashed the zImage with heimdall and it still wont do a sprint system update and also I cannot do the cwm process again to format to ext4.

Check out the newly leaked EA24 flasher, it will update both system and baseband to EA24 and you will be able to update after that.
Thanks technote. I used the above and worked awesome!

[Q] Help to Uninstall ver. 2.3.3

I had the Liberty 1.5 ROM on my Droid Rooted with Rom Manager Clock Work recovery and everything was fine until..
I found a file on the web called Monster_D2_2.3.2_4.5.153 I used Clock Work recovery and installed it.
Now my phone says I have Android Version 2.3.3 Build Number STAB
Kernal Version: 2.6.32.9-gd72dc5da20523
It's running fine but I have lost ClockWork Recovery. I can not root the phone after trying several different methods. I can not install anything on it with its stock recovery without getting a signiture failure in the stock recovery and worst of all I can not uninstall it or overwrite it with anything I have loaded on the SD card.
I would be happy to remove this build and re-install Liberty.
I would be even more happy If I could just get this rooted and have my clockwork recovery back.
can anyone help me by pointing me to a thread or link that can help?
Thanks SO much
Gingerbread Dead :0
The problem is that there isn't a known process for rooting Gingerbread (except for installing a pre-rooted ROM)
SBF back to stock, and then you should be able to root, install clockworkmod, and then reinstall Liberty.

Yup, SBF is the way to go.

If you made a backup of liberty before you installed 2.3.3, after you root and put clockwork on, you should be able to just restore it.
It's always good to do as much research as you can before trying anything like that.
I installed VRZ_A955_2.3.20_1FF_01.sbf
Then I was able to root the phone and use my root applications. The device is very slow and too sketchy to complete anyone task so it was a failure.
Now with your advice I should get back on the right track. Thank You very much for the response. I thought for a moment I might have to drop my phone on the pavement and go to phoneclaim dot com. But you cant learn anything taking the easy way out. lol I'll post the outcome.

Yup, as long as you can get the phone into bootloader mode, the phone isn't bricked.
Hope everything works out!

Complete Recovery!
Thank You SO much!
I began having a black screen.after a few weeks on gingerbread so I decided to sbf back to froyo but it failed now my phone gives the MOTO logo and goes directly to a black screen. I can't get it into flash mode even with holding the arrow up key. I'm out of ideas here so I'm really hoping to find a way to get this working again without being worried that its truly bricked. Any help would be greatly appreciative.
Have you been able to boot into anything else, such as the stock recovery?

[q] samsung epic4g stuck, help!

a few months ago i rooted and installed clockworkmod v2.5.1.0 and installed a rom on my phone, everything went smoothly until a few days ago i wanted to try another rom, so i backup my phone on clockworkmod and do what i remember i had to do, and installed the new rom, but my phone just stayed in the turning on logo, right now i cant use my phone or restore my old rom and i keep getting E:can't open /cache/recovery/log
after pretty much any command i try. i need urgent help so i can use my phone!
I'm no expert or anything but I believe if you were using clockworkmod 2.5 you are running rfs (I believe it is) and you were trying to install a new rom which most likely is ext4 which is what caused the boot loop. So to make it eaiser to understand you tried to flash a newer rom on clockwork mod 2.5 when you needed clockwork mod 3.0+ (ext4 enabled). So now your going to have to use odin and go back to a stock of your choice ec05 I would say.
Check the wiki in android development and see what you need to go back to stock with odin, that will help

Yes, you need to Odin back to stock. There are stickies on top of the forums on how to fix a bricked epic, restore stock. My guess is you tried a ROM that required EXT4 file system. If you still wish to try these ROMs there is a sticky at top of Development for installing Clockwork Mod 3.0.0.6.
Do you BONSAI?
I'd agree. The kernel probably is what broke that down, with the ext4. Flash CWM3, make sure you have the correct modem for that ROM, and try reflashing the ROM. sometimes (SOMETIMES) that works, without having to ODIN back. I was on leaky gingerbread with ed12, which doesn't (yet) support ext4 / CWM3, i flashed the ec05 modem back in, flashed cwm3, and reflashed the SyndicateROM Frozen - without having to ODIN the stock- worked perfectly.
This may work for you-
Flash modem needed for ROM
Install CWM3
Reinstall <rom>.zip through CWM3.
there is one problem, my pc wont recognize my phone.
Ok i got it running again, thx everybody!

[Q] Defy hard resetting itself on each boot.

Hi everyone!
I am having very strange problem with stock rom "JORDN _U3_6.36.0" from T-Mobile USA on standard Defy. Each time i power phone up, it starts booting up then restarts itself in to stock recovery and perform hard/factory reset. After that it boots normally, but all settings gone.
I am not using T-mobile sim or moto blur account , so i skip registration using "ebluroff" trick. Is that can be the cause of the problem?
Some backstory: when i bought the phone it had CyanogenMod 7 installed on it. I used it for 2-3 years, even updated it several times up to 7.2.
Then some time ago i started having issues with it, so i had to flash stock rom with 2.1 Android.
I decided not to do anything with the phone, until i got some advice, so i any help would be greatly appreciated.
What were the issues faced? Anyhow one of the things you can try is to upgrade to 2.2, via rsd lite

Well, thing is i want to keep my downgrade ability. I rooted the phone with superoneclick and install 2ndInit 1.4.2, but the problem is that it doesn't see SD card because it is Eclair. How people installed nandroid backups on 2.1? There has to be the way to move to 2.2 without flashing full SBF, because as i already mentioned it had CyanogenMod 7 when i bought it, so it is possible.

Some update. After hours of digging i found out these thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=899450
So, i first flashed defy 2.2_boot_only FIXED FSB, then after reboot custom recovery started working, so restored Droid22 rom from it.
Phew, i knew it was possible. So now i have rooted chines (?) android 2.2.1 on my phone and working custom recovery. I am gona stick on it for a while until i find best 2.3.3. nandroid ROM.
Just wanted to clarify was it right order - first flashing fixed SBF then restoring nandroid backup? I couldnt get custom recovery working without updating bootmenu first.
I also wanted to add that i did custom recovery data|cash wipe before flashing fixed SBF, before AND after restoring nandroid backup.
I saw that lots of people had problem like me , hope my message will help.
