Hi to all,
i've buy this tablet used from a collegue of my friend.
He give it to me with a modify rom with 3.1 firmware (if i don't wrong, tha name of the rom are "Picasso-ROM" but i'm not sure about it).
I wanna restore the original firmware on it to take the last firmware 3.2.1 (Acer_A500_7.014.14_COM_GEN1) but I can not seem to update to that version of the tablet !
At the moment with the EUUs_SBK_Acer_A500_1.016.05_COM_GEN1 i was able to restore the original Acer recovery (lost with old custom rom) and with OTA now i've the follow update : "A500_7.006.01_COM_GEN1" but the version of Android still 3.2 !
I would not like that when ICS comes out I will not be able to update !
How can i force it ? There is a link where i can download the OTA update ?

There is no way to force OTA unfortunately - if you've managed to receive the OTA 3.2 then there should be no reason you shouldn't receive 3.2.1 just give it a few days more, some here have had to wait 2-3 weeks for it so I wouldn't panic just yet

I recently reverted from the leaked ICS 4.0.3 using ATX to flash back to stock 3.0.1. Once I did that, I tried to OTA update to 3.2, without success. So I downloaded the 3.2 update from Vache's thread, renamed it update.zip and threw it on my sdcard. Rebooted into stock recovery and updated. Once I did that, I went into settings and checked for OTA update, and it worked. So I had the same problem with OTA updates, but running 3.0.1. Perhaps downloading the 3.2.1 update will allow you to get OTA updates in the future (it should).
If you want to make sure, try downgrading to 3.0.1, then downloading the 3.2 update from Vache's thread. Then doing OTA update from your tablet and it should work. Hope that at least gives you some inspiration to try some things!
The above post is a viable way..
But also if i remember right.. You can Take any full complete rom pushed by acer.Flash it with the stock recovery.. With the catch the update rom version has to be region matched and a NEWER ROM VERSION.
Hope this makes sense. Its the procedure i have used in the past to test out a OTA.
People are doing this same thing to get the ICS LEAK. FULL ROM. acer will let you move forword as each full push from them added fixes for previous root ability and so on..
That brings me back to thinking ACER Leaked this ics rom just to see how easly it can be broken.
i want to upgrade my andriod version from 3.0.1 to 3.2 or 3.2.1
build number is acer a500 1.016.05_com_gen1
i can't get it viia normal update so if anyone can help me by link that can upgrade it i will be grateful

I purchased my tablet from US and I live in india. Only one time i was able to update when i run it first time, after than never got any message for update of Android Version.
When i go to Settings>About Tablet and click on System Update and check for new version it's gives me message "Your device is up to date" and when i see the version details than these are
Model Number : A500
Android Version : 3.0.1
Kernel Version : 2.6.36-00017-gc98d63f
Build Number : Acer_A500_1.016.01_COM_GEN1
Update is not available for india yet or where i am wrong please help.
Not sure if your locale has anything to do with getting updates. That's typically an issue with 3G providers, but as long as your tablet is an A500 (wifi only version) it should find the OTA updates no problem, that it unless you are running a custom ROM. Either way, you can manually update your tablet. All the information you need is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1113878
If you currently have a custom ROM or rooted your stock ROM, you will lose root by updating to a newer stock ROM, and the only way to recover root is by reverting back to Android 3.0. There are several custom ROM's based on 3.2 which already have root, if you also choose to go that route. If you have no idea what I mean when I mention root, just don't worry about it and carry on with that link I posted

can't explain why you're unable to OTA update, but the security and performance improvements along with new features (ie, native mouse support) should make a manual 3.2 update worthwhile

The problem is that now I can't update my transformer to ICS (no notify!!);I've try to reset...nothing
Ho can I solve my problem?

seems like you made a miss here, but root the transformer and download the official CWM of the FOTA Then you will get ics!
But beware ics seems a bit slow and laggy at the moment :/

You probably need to download the US version from asus downloads and manually update to that. That should solve your problems as the system will only recognize the original firmware locations.

i didn't say it was the only way, as you do have an US tab and you updated to WW i don't seem why it don't give you an FOTA update as its same tab just some other languages *Mostly* but what do i know its nothing i can do, and i think your tab is seen as US tab still, if your using WW so US hasn't yet got their update, but soon they will i guess,
Unfortunately the update system will only recognize the original firmware.... so if your tab as originally US then you update to TW it will not accept the update ( i tried when the TW update came out) it doesnt matter where you are. I have a WW but i bought it in canada and am now in indonesia so i figured why not try the TW and see if i get the update. It failed but when i went to WW it came up instantly.

I had the same issue, first had an US version but after unroot I've flashed
the WW version and apparently these aren't scheduled for update yet, didn't get update notifications for ICS .
So what i did was return to the original US stock version and did this with NVFLash
after the US firmware was loaded it went through all the updates sequentially and ended with ICS = me a Happy TF owner
Had the same problem. Then i've rooted the TF and flashed the root version.
Very hppy now, everything is fine now.

For the ppl that flashed back to stock where did you get the ROM from? I did the same (came from Revolver ROM) and flashed back to stock (US version) but no updates showing.
You can get all the regional versions of Asus stock firmware from the asus download site

Just choose the Region that you originally had WW or US or whatever
The update will only work for the original firmware region because it is tied to your serial number in the ASUS database or something like that.

Why do u want to get back to stock? I came from revolver and flashed the root ics without any problems. So smooth and fast, awesome...

Thanks everyone for your help. I was able to finialy get ICS update FOTA. For those who are still having issues here is what I did:
-Started with rooted TF running Revolver ROM
-NVFlashed to a stock ROM (the flash should have removed root and CWM I'm told)
-Noticed my TF still did not see any update, stock ROM I flashed was 3.1 older stock ROM and may be part of the reason it would not update (not totally sure the reasons)
-Went to Asus official download site and D/L the US firmware update
-Unzipped that file on a Micro SD card (root directory)
-Put Micro SD card into my running (older) stock TF and the triangle popped up on the task bar saying there was an update, tap that and let it update.
-now was updated to the latest stock Asus 3.2 ROM and checked updates..it found that i needed an update and d/l ICS!!
May be an easier way to get ICS, but for me I was hearing issues others had using some of the prepared ICS ROMs on here vs. letting the TF FOTA update.

OK here it goes.... i purchased a a501 and i installed a500 rom on it... don't ask why... it has been running great since i got the tablet., i wanted to update to ics and it shows the update downloads it and then when it reboots to install it it goes for a bit then it stops and i get an error icon. Can anyone please help! I want to revert back to my original a501 rom and do a proper update so everything is bone stock .

t seems at the moment, updates ICS has not yet begun, but for the correct installation of the official firmware, you need to go back to version 3.2.1 (2). That is, roll back and install ICONIA TAB Update Enhancement.
thank you for the reply. i am able to get the update here in canada but when it begins to install there is an error. i think this is because of my current rom. how do i revert back to the stock 3.2.1?

hi, my brother and me, we ve got two acer iconia a500 with 32gb.
my brother rootet his iconia 1 month ago and installed an ics rom.
now i bought my rom with normal firmware and no root.
i updated it to 4.0.3.
now my brother wants the official firmware on his iconia back.
is there a release of the ofw or is it possible to make a backup of mine
and he flash this rom to his iconia (so its nearly the same)
im looking forward for a positiv answer
Hi there,
Best bet would be for your brother to revert back to stock honeycomb and then allow the OTA updates to update him to the official ICS. There are many guides here on XDA on how to do that. That is likely the safest bet based on what bootloader he might be running etc.
can you please give me a link for a guide to getbstock rom back. hard to find something, aspecially when you are german
I went back to stock 3.0.1 and did updates up to 3.2.1 then i install Iconia tab update from the playstore when i got upto 3.2.1 then checked for updates again and it pushed ICS to my tab hear is the link method one worked for me method two did not let me update i kept getting the your device is upto date message. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1276227

The unroot process failed, and I went through a series of unsuccessful SD card updates.
I ended up using the EUUs to get the tablet back to Honeycomb 3.01, and then updated via SD-card to 3.2.1 but I seem to be stuck there.
I have installed the Acer Update app, but there is no update available for my Tab. Is Acer still distributing the upgrade OTA?
What other route could I take back to a stock, unrooted ICS?

Alternatively, could one of the German users point me to a ROM that has allowed them recently to upgrade to stock unrooted ICS OTA?
