Yea, just be sure to check your hboot; that'll tell you which rooting method to use.

so im checking the internal memory and it says 366 mb that seems rather small are you guys working with the same amount or is this right my inc2 had a full g im not sure im happy with that amount since i do have a lot of apps i know i could move them to sdcard but still ?
by the way my hboot is 2.16.0001

you can still follow that method i posted to achieve s-off. Also it depends if the apps are running or not. If you manage whats running you shouldnt notice any slow downs. Im partitioned with 1gb so i have 1gb where ALL of my apps go so i never run out of space so i recommend partitioning if you have alot of apps. But you need to have at least a class 4 sdcard or youll see slow downs

ill be honest im a miui user and loving it so as soon as i root im flashing miui would partioning the sdcard would still work with miui and if so u know a good guide i can follow
sorry about all the question i just wanna get this right i just feel a little uneasy about leaving my inc2 which i have come to love very much not saying that i wont the evo just trying to get all the info i can get

im on MIUI also. Yes partitioning will work with MIUI but your going to have to flash Dark Tremors a2sd and activate it through terminal emulator. Dont download the one from MIUI.us use this version by swiper. The latest ones for the evo give you a FC when you answer the phone but this one does not http://forums.miui.us/showthread.php?15515-MIUI-ROM-2-2-3-Gingerbread-2-3-7-By-Swiperrat

MyTouch Slide System Leak

Obviously this isn't going to just fit on the G1 or MyTouch without a2sd.
Any devs wanna take a crack at it?

thanks for this, im no dev but im defiantly going to take a look see
Yeeeeah. SO gonna look at it
Thanks for post.
Oh and either it has to be stripped down big time, or unpacked to sd on installation, then copied over to ext partition, and symlinked, for g1 users...
mytouch 3g users will be able to flash this (hopefully) anytime soon. but they will need apps2sd nethertheless
(edit: lol... there are like a dozen of archieves in it... wanna mock me?
Can anybody try to unpack it properly, and send me the unpacked files. (one time ziped, maybe)
My hdd is full and I don't trust this... after all it's april

Or you can use firerats cache hack to free up 30mb on /cache supporting these larger roms, so you wouldn't have to strip it down thatt much lol

That's very large and it has new features that haven't been seen just yet, I'm considering this phone if it comes out before august and has good specs. I keep hearing it will have more than 600mhz cpu and maybe 384+MB Ram...

easy fit an an mt3g without a2sd
/system 90mb
/cache 80mb
170mb,,
might have stick some on data
going to be easier to fit on NoneDanger than Danger
even a g1 can probably fit most, if not all the system files onto the internal memory, user apps and dalvik-cache would defiantly need to be a2sd
I might have a look when I'm done with what I'm doing

I think this phone maybe a good phone... And T-Mobile made a good decision to not include live wallpapers because Sense + Livewallpapers = Tremendous lag... If the phone comes out like the hardware and software described i am certainly buying it
same here, definantly looks like a great phone

weren't the hardware specs on this phone similar to the HTC Legend, and this is only a myTouch by name but a completely different phone? We already have a Legend port. Is this going to be better?

Live wallpapers isn't that good. Just waste battery and makes the system slower but it is good eye candy and great to show off the phone. The phone has a decent amount of RAM (512 mb) so once this phone gets rooted someone can enable LW.

Live wallpaper is not available on 2.1 with Sense UI which the MyTouch Slide seems to be running... not T-Mobile's fault.
Plus like UberMario said, it's not all that good and kills your bat life even on the Nexus One.

Froyo 2.2

When do yall think we will have a working port of froyo?
I just got back into the android game. ive been using an HD2 which is beautiful, but winmo poses too many problems for my liking. So im back on with the slide.
sorry i felt the explaination lol
anyway ne info about froyo would be greatly accepted
Supposedly the slide (and full mytouch line) is getting Froyo fairly soon... I just wish I knew when >.>

Well it will bloat the system but A2SD will help with the data. Plus, JIT will help with speed and a2sd will allow you pick and choose which apks to store on data or sdcard unlike the usual custom rom scripts...
Yea thats awesome, was reading this on engadget somewhere n new orleans just got hspa+!!
i really cant wait till some good speedy roms come out here.
All those screamin fast g1 roms need to b put on here

Should I Root?

I'm comming from the HTC HD2 so I know about the whole process and how everything works. I love to mess around with my phone and see what it can do but the Evo is so fast already and runs smooth. Im not afraid of breaking the phone because I have insurance and I always take special precautions. Is it worth me to root? I love sense and would love to have GB + Sense 3.0.
Also Ive read into 4G keys, does CWM backup the WiMax partition automatically?
This is my first time working with a CDMA phone?
thanks for any input, also if anyone is using a GB+ Sense 3.0 build is it worth it?
You sorta answered your own question
You should just get amon ra recovery. No problems but you have to flash everything manually. Meaning you can't use the rom manager app that downloads and flashes automatically for you.
A drop of Chuck Norris's semen was placed on Android OS. We now have CyanogenMod.
Just go to the Development section, find a rom that fits your criteria (Virus comes to mind) and flash away!
Make sure you back up first, so if you are unhappy you can revert back. Only you can decide if it's "worth it"

Yes. Yes you should.
you should. right now.
GB and Sense 3.0? I'd point you in the direction of this ROM.
You all have convinced me I'm rooted now just exploring builds!!!
I knew i couldnt stay away from the Development section long
i'd try cm7, mikfroyo, myn's warm twopointtwo, and a sense 3.0 build. if you decide you like aosp, try more aosp roms. if you decide you like sense, try koni's and other sense roms. have fun, and welcome to the forums (evo side at least)

Absolutely
Of course you should root and flash. Just realize that once you get started flashing ROMs, it can become real addictive.

My battery life sucks with 4g/gps/bluetooth turned off i get about 4-6 hours of battery life, and sometimes text messages/voicemails are slow.
Thanks for all help guys

[Q] New to the Nook Scene

I just had a friend that works with me buy his wife a nook color. He new that I new about development and flashing Android Devices so he asked me to hook his wife's nook up . I always seem to get thrown into things lol. Anyways looking over the forums at a glance I am trying to get an opinion. I have flashed the viewsonic gtab, the samsung galaxy tablet, fascinate, so on and so on. I usually am aware of the newest things on my devices, but never thought I would be messing with a Nook color...I have to say that I am very impressed and might consider buying one after getting a rom on this puppie. I basically have two ? and need some advice.
I want to put a stable Android Rom on here so that he is not calling me everyday to fix lol. They don't need all the features, but would like to surf the web, red books, access the Android market for some games ex: Angry Birds. I am thinking Froyo is probably the most stablest rom, but don't know. Any advice on a stable rom that I could flash on there for them? And from what I have read it probably would be better to use a SD OS, so that they can pull out and reboot for factory. He bought me a sandisk 4g from walmart...ewwwww all kinds of problems. I later read that it needed to be a class 2, 4 so that there would not be any issues. I just bought him a Kingston 4g class 4.
My ?'s are what rom should I use, they don't need nothing fancy like HC, and should I do the install SD or to EMMC?
--Thanks in Advance
I think that I am going to try the Nookie Froyo v0.6.8 and see how that goes

If you are wanting to make this a 24/7 Android tablet you should rock the Cyanogen Mod ROM, flashed to the eMMC. It's super fast, stable, and everything works the way it should.

No problem. Glad i could help. I love the "snappiness" and the raw power of Cyanogen Mod ROMS.
I know it's not as favorable as Sense or TouchWiz on some of the devices but i like to think of it as a 69 396cid Camero Cam/stroked/bored/tubb'd and waiting for some action. Where as Sense, Motoblur, TouchWiz are all fat chicks riding tricycles. It's not going to move very fast and take a whole lot of effort to get there.

S-Off Maybe soon for GB

So I was reading on the 3D forums and found this post.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1175668&page=4
Read it carefully. There is a post in that thread about a new tool that will work with any hboot.
Also saw this in the post on page 3.
"This got out before we could make a formal announcement, but unrevoked and alpharev will be merging sometime in the near future. We've always been very close, but we will be officially merging..."soon"."
Could be a big deal. Myn has said he's going to put out an app that automatically exploits some sort of temporary root hack when you reboot the phone. I imagine this would allow for root apps to work, but I don't think it'll allow for ROM flashing.
heck yeah if this works with all hboots, then game on!!!

If I read whats in the thread that the OP posted they say it works with all current hboots. So with them saying that it should work for the locked down Evo4g. I hope to heck it does, no root sux. Sounds like hopefully we won't have to wait much longer tho.
Heres my question that hopefully someone with more dev skills can answer... Supposedly sometime September-ish HTC is going to release an unlocked bootloader for the Evo 3d. Could someone utilize that to discover a flaw in the non-unlocked bootloaders and develop a root method for the Evo's in case this new tool doesnt cut the cake?
Whats with the 1.30 hboot? mines only 1.16
theres already a thread with the progrss to date on this, its a strong possibility we might see the root soon, just hold on to your panties and let this guys finish their work, already an exploit has been found with a temp root, although its not easily reproduced, but its a hole
Great news, I hope those guys do get it done. I'll contribute some cash to them for their hard work..
I for one am praying to the Evo Dev's and Gods out there that a Root is coming soon. I'm sick of my Evo and the bloatware.. almost wish I wouldnt have used my upgrade from LG Optimus S to Evo 4g.. Didnt really care for the Evo3d as it hurt my eyes after a bit, and even though the screen size says they are the same 4.3" I still think the Evo 4g has a better screen..
I'm pretty much in the same boat as y'all the waiting game is killing me... i've been trying to find some utoob vids on different ROMs so that as soon as i'm able to ROOT i already have an idea of what ROMs i wanna try out... how bout y'all any suggestions?
