yoiy - Galaxy Tab 7.7 General

Well being a noob in rom cooking, i have hard bricked my tab. It doesnt even turn on.
Im new to sammy stuff, so would appreciate some pointers, is this: http://mobiletechvideos.mybigcommerce.com/samsung-galaxy-tab-7-7-jtag-brick-repair/ the only way?

me and others flash the room from the stupied idiot guy in this post and got brick our devices, BTW i think he is working with the company you mintioned in web site, if like that he and the company are dirty.
any way, you are developer so try to recognize how flashing rom could make such problem. please.
the device have little hot in left side so maybe some hardware working ??thinking

Definitely not working for any company, and I have developed many Android ROMs and never had this problem. I've been here since 2005, for crying out loud. This is my first Samsung ROM, so I admit to being new there. I will even accept your "stupid idiot" comment, as I guess I deserve it. Although, I wonder why 150 people have downloaded it and only two or three people that I can see have been bricked. Something must connect those with issues. We need to find what it is.
Also, I am happy to pay for the de-bricking of those who are legitimately bricked i.e., followed instructions, have a receipt from JTAG, or whatever it is). Just PM me.
Steve

For reference, I am the only one who does anything for/with MobileTechVideos from a business stand point and two, I have successfully reverse engineered the world's (currently) only hard brick solution for this model as you will see above...

steve, please pass the words came from reaction, it was chock as you seen. sorry for harming.
iam in middle east and not confidant to ship my device to unknown address because he mentioned in web page that he has solution, i mean JTAG and its not subject of who to pay steve.
supposedly that web site is true, and they didn't mention that they will change any part of device, what they will do to fix? the problem happened because we flashed non compatible files i think.
let us figure out the problem and try to find solution. right?

Absolutely. I understand. I have gotten into many messes since i started developing, and know that panic. I just need to know everything you.and the other user who had this problem can tell e about your device so i can find out what the common denominator is. So, confirm it is the wifi and 3g version you are using, and what build you are coming from, if you would. Are you using a sim card? Have you tried pressing power and volume up for a while? Thanks. Also, does your tablet feel hot at all?

Well I used yours as a base, just chopped the usual crap out, resigned, flashed, everything seemed OK. Initiated reboot, bam, doesn't turn on.
Charged all night, tab is hot along left edge, so I'm guessing still charging. 8600.

let us exchange the ideas
first we need to get the device powered so maybe remove and return battery could do something?? but how?
any external way to use it throw usb slot while charging ?

I would try pulling the battery but have no idea how to get the case off.

Steve, just wondering out loud whether those who have the hard-brick issue be because there are on pre-production hardware, so they have a slightly different hardware SKU. Hence your ROM does not work for them.

That seems to be the case for one of them. I am not positive about the others. I am having a hard time getting people to just tell me what build they were using prior to the flash...There seem to be 3 people who have had this porblem, and there must be something linking them, although it may be something random. Need to figure it out.

I came from P6800ZSKL2. Dont know if it was from the very first production line, but judging by the quality (i bought three, all with crap displays) they probably were.
Also, i believe the device is on and trying to unpack something because it is indeed warm.
This of course means that there may be hope of getting into download or recovery yet... i will drain it for 34 hours and then attempt to turn it back on.

Uh, not sure about the quotes, but yes, I am about to try something that might answer the question of why some bricked. If the answer is affirmative, however, the only solution likely is JTAG...

BTW, his "suggestion" was "incorrect." Still not sure what's up. Will keep posted, and like I said, I'll work something out with JTAG for those who got bricked yesterday and posted about in in the original thread before I responded.
Steve

For the record hard bricks on the Exynos 4210 will occur generally in one of 3 ways:
1) Mis-matched boot.bin and sbl.bin
2) Incompatible boot.bin and sbl.bin combo
3) Invalid PIT file flash from an earlier generation TAB or Galaxy S device
Anything else causing a black screen is simply hardware failure.

Donate My Crushed G1

Please be kind to me as this is my first post on XDA although I have been reading and utilizing these forums for quite some time. If this question has already been addressed, please let me know. I have already searched the forum and was unable to find anything on the subject but perhaps I wasn't as diligent as I could have been.
I left my G1 on the roof of my car and it fell off and was run over by a car. I already ordered a new one which will arrive in two days (I do nightly nandroid backups so all is well in that department). I would, however, like to donate the crushed G1 to one of the developers on this site so that they can salvage it for parts. Believe it or not, I was actually able to boot to the recovery screen and do a wipe (Alt-W). Obviously I could not see this as the screen is crushed but it rebooted after I hit Back+Home so I am pretty certain that there are some valuable working parts for someone who knows what they are doing.
I have taken advantage of the ROMs on this forum for awhile (Kavana's WinMo 6.1) as well as How-To posts (Apps2SD, Rooting G1, Nandroid, MAM, etc.) and countless other posts to keep my phone in perfect working order, and would like to give at least a little back to the hard working developers here. I would like a moderator to assist me in getting the phone into the hands of the right developer. I am sure it has some value to someone. I am pretty certain that the motherboard is in working condition as well as the keyboard and various other parts (it still vibrates on boot). I don't know much about hardware as I am largely a developer and a user. I don't want to take it apart only to find out that I have ruined what was once a good part. Ebay was an option but I figure that I will actually get more value out of donating it since XDA is literally my lifeline and smartphones would just plain suck without this site.
Please reference the attached photos. Sorry they are not so great. They were taken on my Dash because I was too lazy to take out my good camera.
Post replies here and we can go from there.
Thanks,
Aaron

I believe you should donate it to one of the members working on finding the jtag pins so the people who were effected by the spl brick might have a second chance
Amazon sells them as well for about $7 + $3 for shipping.. OEM, safe..never had issues..
I am keeping the battery which still works. Now I have three! The battery door is crushed too. My goal is for the phone to better not just one person in need of parts but the community in general. If a developer can use this to help out the rest of us it will have been worth it. Like I have stated, I am not sure what use it will be but I am sure that someone out there can utilize it for the benefit of the rest of us.

A battery from HTC directly (after they first tried to deny my warranty status) is 37, shipping included.
As for a crushed device, I should try to find one in that condition since emulator will not run on my laptop. More or less the process goes make a program or update, open my sd card, load it, try it, improve it on the computer, delete the sd card copy, move the new one... very agravating.
Not to mention if you plug the device into the computer right, you can load your device AS the emulator (but I don't really want to do that to my "daily driver")
I would like to suggest a moment of silence to honor your G1.

Anyone got an idea? It seems as if my battery wont take any charge. Only turns on when phone is "Charging." I gave HTC a call and they are so damn stupid. Im sorry but honestly.. they cant trade out my battery! Wanna know why?! THEY ARE MORE WORRIED ABOUT COMPLETING ORDERS WITH NEW CUSTOMERS. Hmph knowing google i wasnt surprised but STILL! REALLY?! So basically I have to shell out 50 bucks for a new battery? Maybe someone knows something.. I didnt post in accessories because it isnt so I dont know... if this is wrong place sorry.

Did you install the RAM hacked kernel? That has a known issue of causing batteries to no longer charge, and you must revert back to the stock kernel or the recently released patch RAM hacked kenel.

Not really sure, I just started reading up on the Cyan and Kernel for the Nexus One a couple days ago. Perhaps someone that has messed around with the stuff and has a link handy to the kernel he needs could post it up?
As well, I would be willing to bet if you did a search of the Cyan 5.0 ROM thread for "kernel" you would find a link at some place in there.
OP, you need to chill.
Just reflash Cyanogen's addon pack.
I found the Zimage or what ever to flash.. but my battery is dead! GAH! now i have to order one because i dont have a batt to flash it with
That new battery may or may not come charged, if that's what you mean. You might need a friend with an N1 to help you out, if you need a charged battery to reflash.
FYI, worst case scenario, you could always mail your battery to somebody, let them charge it, then mail it back... I would recommend trying to find someone in Cali first, since it would take about 4 days round trip then. I would be willing to help you out, though, if you can't find anyone else... but I am in Iowa, so it would take more like a week or so round trip.
how about turning it on with the charger in w/o the battery? My g1 can do it. Not sure if that applies to other phones.
I find it funny how in your first post you call htc and google stupid for not fixing your battery issue which you obviously brought upon yourself by installing custom roms.

no wonder HTC doesn't want to know about unlocked nexus going in for warranty.
if you install a custom rom the least you can do is try to stay on top of things related to that rom. I haven't unlocked, but even I knew there was an issue with batteries not charging.

Perhaps now you can understand why some of us are irritated when people jump the gun on things. In this case, we're talking about people going straight to rooting and flashing their phones with custom ROMs without realizing the potential issues related with them... in other cases, well I won't get into off topic discussion...but suffice to say that this isn't the last time you see someone flash a ROM, then ask why his phone isn't working the same as it was before.
HTC picked up my N1 yesterday because it wasnt charging. It said it was charging but as soon as I took out the charger it turned off.
It had an unlocked bootloader and they said they would send me a new one...
Fingers crossed I get a new one soon
I didn't know about the kernel doing this so just I emailed them, then phoned and they sent someone to pick mine up...
Man that's bad.You really should not root your next one, and if you do, you should take responsibility for your actions.

You talking to me?
HTC gave me a new Nexus One today and mine was unlocked and replaced no problem And it wasn't to do with the kernel because the report from HTC says the battery was faulty But they gave me a new device anyway.
I love it how people just love to automatically point the figure at somebody else for their fault. Maybe you should have first read more about something when you decide to root your phone rather than running and screaming like a two year old.
There are many reasons to root/rom/kernel the phone when you may not be considered one of the 'enlightenned' as this thread seems to insinuate.
If you need to do anything that is not in the android ideal as far as application framework goes your screwed.
I bought this phone since I was "sold" that it was "open"
and for "development" that to me impiled it at least had a shell...
This thread has gotten seriously off track.
Please respond in the vein of helping identify what the stable(est)rooted baseline should be.

I flash the wrong ROM

OK. After I installed HSPL and mistakenly installed the 1.43 ROM i thought it was just OK. So I let it go until it reach 100%, after that the phone just went completely off. It won't start, it won't charge and it won't turn on. I try to do a hard reset but same thing nothing works. So right now its completely no working. Do you its still fixable?
nope... you'll have to wait and see if one of the brilliant devs come up with a work around. till then you have a very nice paper weight. If you got it from t-mobile you might still be able to warranty it but you run the risk of them finding out that it has the HSPL on it.
Yes I got it from Tmobile. I just got it yesterday and I went back to the store and they're going to give me a direct replacement. I'm just trying if it might still be revive. I know it can be done but i think its difficult.
if it was just a bad/wrong rom you would be able to boot to bootloader and flash a different rom.
problem is that the official roms also include a radio, and it is the radio from the 1.43 that has bricked your phone, not the rom.
no one has yet managed to start their phone from this kind of brick.
I know..hopefully one of this days one of the developers will be able to crack it and find a cure for it.
There is no cure I can think over other then pulling the actual radio chip and putting in a new one. I would think it would be like killing a BIOS chip on your computers mother board.

I agree. I don't think that there will ever be a cure for this kind of flash.
Question, though... I know HTC has some ways they can directly patch into a phone's hardware. Would it be possible for them to see the data on the ROM section?
I ask, because this would probably be the only way they could detect a Hard SPL or cooked ROM, I think...

sometimes a rookie mistake can ruin your life..or your phone just next time you flashed it read the whole post atleast 3 times and if you dont understand something read it again or google it so know what it means thats what I do all the time. flashing a rom takes time you cant really rush it and it happens to alot of us.

I really understand whats the do's and don'ts of flashing a ROM. I read it very carefully. It was just I'm so excited with it and didn't even read what I am clicking in my computer. I just hit NEXT..NEXT..NEXT. But what I am going to do the damage is done and there is no point of blaming my carelessness. As what most people say "learn from your mistake".

Please put big "3G ONLY" warnings on all the Root guides.

Because I followed the instructions here, which give no such warning, and bricked my WiFi Xoom. =/
I'll be honest - you found the forum but somehow missed all the previous posts regarding this?
How can we fix a softbrick? I did not think they would be different and followed a guide on AndroidCentral. Now I am at the Motorola Dual Core Technology screen and it is going no where.
I agree with the OP. At least for the time being since there seems to be some discrepancy between the wifi and wifi+3g software versions.
It doesn't hurt to add in the title of the thread or in the body of the OPs text to add something about whether it is compatible with wifi only and/or wifi+3g.
I know people can read pages and pages of a thread to find out about the compatibility but I think we should help each out and try to prevent as many soft bricks of the xoom as possible.

Wouldn't the first red flag be that the WiFi Xoom isn't even generally available until tomorrow? There hasn't been a need to make the discrepancy between 3G and WiFi models up to this point.
Do you expect methods to be made for the WiFi Xoom when its not even on sale unless you have a lucky store that decided to sell early lol.

Nope, I would expect it to be with and without a 3G mini pci card. There's no reason for the boot software to be different.

Idk it doesn't necessarily make too much sense for them to be different, but there's no reason to take it upon yourself to try it before its been approved or at least tested lol. Sorry but the first thing you should've done is the research to see if there are differences first. I think you could've waited 24 hrs and seen what people find out.
since u are sitting on a soft brick, try flashing tiamat and see if it fixes it. If not, a stock boot img should hit the interwebz in a matter of minute's.
No brick returns?
My neighbor is a Best Buy manager he told me the higher ups know about these bricks. He was instructed NOT to take returns if the xoom is in this condition. I would imagine other stores are going to do the same!
The instructions on screen when you unlock clearly state that you are voiding the warranty. They shouldn't take returns on bricked xooms.

Everybody knows the root method was posted over a month ago, obviously that is for 3g xooms. The op knew what he was doing, the Guy who created that thread a month ago isn't coming bavk to change titles for you, make sure you read a guide that says wifi only root, personally that's what I would've done instead of blaming other people. If you're smart enough to root but can't figure that out I don't know what to tell you. That said you have 15-30 days to return your stuff as long as its not physical damaged, best buy has to take it back, don't listen to the other guy who said differently

[Very, very sad] Losing touch screen !!!!

Very sad news: I found that Transformer is built very bad hardware. The first is designed rickety, open light error and today, my screen was completely out of touch.
I am using normal and always in my pocket camalgams sock opens today but can not be unlocked by sliding finger. I tried rebooting many times. Even reset the rom but still is not. And I think that is certainly due to bad hardware.
The sad thing is that my machine was purchased overseas and now can not guarantee. I thought maybe I never use Asus again.
Who is like me?
what is your build number? what ROM are you using? did you try reflashing it? wiping it might not do anything but reflashing could. did you use the nvflash method?

Just because your tablet was faulty, doesnt mean all transformers are this way,you had some misfortune, but that doesnt mean to bring everyone else down with you.We will help you out as much as possible, but leave the negativity at home.

Like said above, what ROM you're running? You can try flashing Prime 1.4 with nvflash and see if it helps.

before I buy one, I have read many complaints about the hardware failure of the Transformer, but finally decided to buy. And I was the victim.
Maybe I was a bit negative, I'm very sorry about that, but the machine of my friends are facing a similar situation (not including loss of touch-screen error).
I'm using the rom Prime v1.4, by nvflash root machine, operating system Android 3.1. I tried to flash and install rom but do not be.
Who is have a better way?

Some people have been able to fix this issue by letting the battery drain completely. This might take a long time though since the device will go into sleep mode once every 15seconds or so and causing it to drain little battery. I suggest you booting into CWM and letting it sit there till it shuts down by itself and then charge it to full to see if it helps. Many have reported success doing this.

Thanks so much, i will try it
I used nvflash to flash, should not be able to recovery, for trying to open up this screen. The fully charged battery,
If it comes down to it,just flash back to the stock rom and uninstall clockwork, send it back with the warranty card and the issue your having and Asus will fix your problem or send you a new tab,a friend of mine had to do that,he has a new tab now.

So sorry, my english is bad. I live in Vietnam and bought this machine in Hong Kong.
My screen is now in the installation. It takes very little battery power, I don't know how long it takes to out of battery
Help me plz !!!!!!!!!!!
I had this problem too with my first TF ... i owned it about 1 hour.
As I went back to the shop they said to me that I wasn't the first with this problem. They just gave me a new one.
So flashing back to the stock rom and sending it to ASUS would be a good solution from my point of view.
No Asus in Vietnam?

Do you think that mocking somebody who can't speak good English is funny?
The person has a problem and is asking for help. If you can't help, then shut the **** up.

What's especially funny is that we have a guy in Vietnam posting clearly enough in English that we know what's going on and have offered suggestions to fix his problem, which he is now following.
I wonder how many of us would be able to do the same in any foreign language forum, much less one in Vietnam.
Excuse the colorful language. I'm a Vietnamese expat who had to learn English, and these sort of grade-school behavior tend to get me hot under the collar. I wish I can help the OP, but I don't have a TF.
