Sweet thanks. Any issues?
Also bummer u have to use up a USB port but would love keyboard /track pad for home Use
Sent from my INFUSE powered by ZEUS

the only problem is that it is recognized as a qwerty but my keyboard is an azerty but it's the same for all my azerty keyboard

Sweet, thanks for sharing. Currently using it. Works flawlessly, just really wish it was Bluetooth so I could use it with my phone without an adapter.

for me it's better because the bluetooth use more batterry than the usb
i use this keyboard since 4 month and i didn't change the battery

How big is it? Can u post a pic along side your tablet ...

Demo: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.apedroid.keymapfredemo
Full version: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.apedroid.keymapfre

what's the difference between the 2 version ?? because i can't paid for app i have no credit card

Good guide! However for some people setting up adb is complicated and Root explorer also isn't free. My app is aimed for those people who rather pay $2 to solve this by touching a single button. Also my app re-applys the keymap at boot time so if you are frequently flashing new versions of the same custom ROM (like CM9 nightlys) you won't need to push the button (or do the adb/root-explorer stuff) again unless you do a full wipe.
But I don't blame you, I would have fixed it myself too. Not to save $2 but because I know perfectly well what needs to be done and I like the challenge of fixing stuff myself.
In fact, I did (but with the Swedish/Finnish layout) but then I realized that if I needed this tweak, others might need it aswell so I decided to make something that was easy to use and also make it available for people in other countries that face the same problems.

Great, you saved $2 and propably learned something while doing it. Others who don't want to learn about adb or buy Root Explorer may prefer buying the app.
Many things are free if you are willing to spend some time learning how to do them yourself.

Google really should add paypal support. The Visa/Mastercard requirement really sucks. I have teenage kids with Android phones even though I trust them I still do not want to connect my Visa or Mastercard to their Google accounts. With paypal on the other hand I could have transfered a limited sum of money to for them to buy apps with. A lot of paid apps are aimed for kids and teenagers but Google Checkout only supports credit cards... That sucks!

This is so great !:good::good::good::good: I've been struggling all weekend to get this keyboard on azerty, for use with my google tv cloud stick.
It works great, however, only on qwerty. I've changed it through my pc (with the software I had to download from the logitech site ) and on my laptop it works on azerty, but as soon as I try to write something on my screen (when the tv stick is connected to my tv) it still is qwerty, even though it shows azerty on the screen. I think this is big shortcoming from Logitech as no software was included in the box (not everyone is a computer geek) and they should be prescient as what their wireless keyboards will be used for. (Like android on tv or tablets a.s.o.)
As soon as I get home tonight I'll try the app to change the keyboard. I am very curious...
If it works, you've made my day :good:

[FAQ]: SGS Vibrant i9000m (Bell), also applicable to other models

Data Connection 2G/3G/H
This phone when used on Bell's own network, it can only do 3G & H
(this is not a hardware issue but rather a network issue, there is a topic about this discussion, link coming soon)
However once unlocked the have full 1G(Cuba!)/2G(EDGE)/3G/H on Fido, Rogers, AT&T and any other network that supports the 850/1900/2100 band for data communication
Pre-installed Apps:
TeleNav GPS Navigator if you are not online via 3G or WiFi, you'll get an error message "This application is not available" or something along those lines
The application is not free, it wants you to register for $10 a month, it's safe to uninstall after rooting
BellTV Remote PVR only works if you have a Bell digital cable box for TV, it's safe to uninstall after rooting
Tunes & Apps it's just an Advertisement URL link, it tries to go
Code:
ads.bwanet.ca/getnew.jsp?request=PDAdownload
the link is dead anyways, it's safe to delete after rooting
TV & Radio supposedly to Watch Live TV, Listen to Music and Talk Radio... but it doesn't work.
It might be only available to people on Bell network, the error messages says
> Error
There was a problem

my recommendation uninstall it if you are rooted, there are better Apps in Android Market that offers the same feature & service
Kobo it comes included with the latest official ROMs. You might want to keep it if you are an e-book reader. It channels you to their online catalog of e-books. Depending from each point of view, it can be categorized as another Advertisement or a Tool.
Personally I'll uninstall it (you'll need to be rooted), the only thing I'll ever read in my phone are PDF files, for everything else i got RSS feeds, tons of e-mails/SMS to go through an lots of websites to keep me busy and relaxed.
AllShare a simple to use App to share your files in the phone to other devices wirelessly.
Worth keeping? Yes
Layar is more of a fun tool than a real utility, it lets you catalog and get info of nearby places where you are standing, it requires the GPS to be ON-line. This App is based on the Anime feature in Eden of the East.
Worth keeping? Yes
Navigation Google Maps Navigation, a simple to use Navigation tool that works out of the box.
Worth keeping? Yes
ThinkFree Office requires activation, but it's completely Free as the name implies (unlike other Apps which claims to be "free" but is crippled one war or another, or with Ads.) you can open and create Microsoft Word Doc, Spread Sheet, and PowerPoint slides, all from the tips of your fingers.
It takes a bit to get used to navigating around the software to do what would normally have been a simple task in the PC.
Worth keeping? Yes
Samsung Apps List of available freebies:
- eBooks by Kobo (the other piece of the forced on ROM Kobo eBook Market)
- Social Hub Push Email and IM (as the name implies it does everything, it's quite good infact, it adds additional supported services to the original version, now it can do Google Accounts, Hotmail/Live Accounts, Yahoo Accounts, Facebook Accounts, Twiter Accounts, MySpace Accounts)
- RoadSMS (SMS that lets you see behind the phone, the road or whatever your phone camera seems to be pointing... great App to check out on girls on the restaurant table in front of you )
- Robert Parker (wine guide)
- Radio Companion (i find it rather interesting, it lets you sing karaoke to the radio station you are listening to... well sort of, it will scroll and display the lyrics as the song plays on the radio station)
- Asphalt5 (racing game, full version, completely free, notice this is not the Asphalt5 HD)
- Vlingo Voice (voice control your phone, dictation, launch apps, etc)
- Krazy Kart Racing (from Konami) cartoonish kart racing game, fun!
- Facebook for Samsung the name says it all it's a new facebook apps from Samsung
- Movies App for movie show times, trailers and reviews

You may want to add something in here about Bell's lack of a 2g GSM network and checking if your phone has the download mode disabled or not. These seem to be 2 common questions on these forums about the Canadian I9000M.
Thanks for the reminder, yes this FAQ is a work in progress
The TV & Radio app is worth keeping if you are a Bell subscriber and into the idea. Basically it is a premium app, you have to pay for subscriptions to channels. But you can access content like live NHL games, HBO, etc.
It also lets you subscribe to and listen to Sirius sat. radio.
But if you don't have a 6GB plan it's a total non-starter.

Edit: alright, I think I found'em. What's tn55-android-blur.apk? The TeleNav application by any chance?

- Krazy Kart Racing (from Konami) cartoonish kart racing game, fun!
Any chance of an apk dump of "Social Hub Push Email and IM" and "Radio Companion" apps? (assuming that they are legal to share, these aren't in my JP3 app store).
I would also ask for Krazy Kart Racing, but pretty sure thats a paid app and I don't wanna break any rules lol..
Otherwise, if no-one can share anything... what firmwares are these apps available for? just the non-beta ones? or just for the bell i9000?
Yes, bell i9000m JH2 is the latest official ROM from Kies
it is compatible with I9000 international, but you will need Odin to flash it
or do the KIES cheat as mentioned in another topic, to make the changes in the registry, so it will download Bell JH2 for you.
But as far as i know, if they are included as freebies inside Samsung Apps, it should also be available to the international i9000 ROMs with Samsung Apps
Thanks for the reply AllGamer
Sorry that I'm a little confused, are the radio and social hub push email included in the firmware or downloadable from the samsung apps store?
Do you know how samsung app store determines phone version? Can we fake this through build.prop or something to download the latest apps, or does it have a more complicated check?
Only cause it seems that the number of apps available to JP3 is limited (and I wanna stick to this firmware for now, it's awesome )

Things I hate about my Desire Z and Android

I have just moved over to Android after using WM for over 4 years and I am starting to have buyers remorse because Android 2.2 cant do some basic things natively and even with an app.
I hate the following things about my phone and its OS:
1) No file explorer
2) No Microsoft office bundled which means I cant view or create office documents. Most of the office apps I can see in the market say they will allow you view and edit documents but cant find one that will let you create a new document (Quickoffice is a complete waste of my time)
3) No Notes
4) The position of the microUSB slot (its a pain for me because my phone is my SatNav)
5) Cant set up Yahoomail in Mail and even after downloading the Yahoo Mail app, I cant view picture attachments.
6) When playing some videos, voice and video are well out of sync.
7) Volume is too low (Sound quality seems ok though)
1- there are lots of file explorer apps in the market.
2 - you can open gdocs in the browser and create docs
3 - search for colornotes in market. The are apps which does sync in the web too
4 - better than some proprietary plugs and cables used by some devices.
5 - try to config it in the native htc mail app, not the yahoo app.
6 - yes... sound is not loud as we want, it's like the palm treo 650

1) Tons of free ones in the market some (astro, IO, Linda etc)
2) Try thinkfree, worked well for me on my vibrant http://product.thinkfree.com/mobile/android
3) Again, tons of option in the market. I currently use colornote which is great.
4) I agree with this. wish the micro usb slot was at the bottom of the device.
5) sorry cant help you here. I use gmail. did you try downloading K9? (mail app in the market - never used it but heard good things about it)
6) Download mvideoplayer - i've been using it for a week and its great
7) Tell people around you to shut up (just playing). yeah the speaker is cheese on the G2, but I hardly use it anyway so its a small sacrifice for me.

Hello everyone
I too had similar issues with Android but with time (1month) I got used to it, almost.
Not too sure what you mean by '3'? I use my DesireZ as satnav all the time (just love Sygic's Aura!!!) And I use Brodit's active carholder (charger only version) and it does the job brilliantly.
I saw a thread about it a few weeks back so just do a search
My only REAL disappointment with android OS is complete lack of Bluetooth activated dialling and lack of contacts voicetags making it literary illegal to use this OS while driving.

The only painful thing about change is resistance to it.
Jump in and really see the what a great phone you have, Ive had WM and to be honest I will never go back.
Just my personal opinion of course ,but I came to Android from WinMo and I wouldn't go back if you paid me. The only good thing that WinMo had going for it was great Office integration. Android blows it out of the water in all other respects.

WM made its job but it's definitely the past, Android is the future
I almost have some kind of disgust when I think of the "finger-friendly" design of WM, the lags and the RAM issues
I love the Google (Gmail, calendar, tasks, contacts) synchronization so much! I couldn't live without anymore!

Ha, having also come from the WinMo world (G2 is my first Android), I actually felt the complete opposite of you---WM is much less friendly/functional out of the box than Android (especially if on a stock WM ROM).
If not for manufacturers like HTC developing UI's like TouchFlo/Manilla, you pretty much had to use a stylus for many operations (or the hardware buttons, which I do miss some days). There was no marketplace until recently, so installing apps required a bit of research/work and relied heavily on forums such as XDA. In fact, in my experience, I always had to tweak the phone considerably to get it working decently (there were always countless registry tweaks to make if they weren't cooked into the ROM already, files to edit to increase the volume if your phone needed it, programs to install and tweak in order to get push email working, all of the pains of ActiveSync, especially if you weren't running an Exchange Server, etc.). That being said, WM had been around for a long time and a lot of the software and tweaks out there were already fairly mature, so it wasn't bad (for example, I always had problems playing videos on WM without the use of a third-party solution like CorePlayer, which until it matured, had it's fair share of stuttering and sync issues as well).
While there are definitely some growing pains involved, I'm a convert now. Plus, if you still want to have some control/tweakability, it allows you to still do that without much effort (as opposed to say Win7 or IOS).
8) Cant BT contacts from my phone to my car's phonebook (heard you need to download an app called Bluetooth File Transfer)
9) Random loss of installed apps and downloaded videos (nothing a good ol' WM style restart wont solve)

Yes, apparently it works (I did read some comments) but it still requires touching the screen to activate it, doesn't it?
Also, uses voice recognition which will only work for English names, right?
Now how would one pronounce my login here.... 'wolek' so that the machine would recognize it??? Not to mention some other non-English names within my phonebook
Sorry for being picky

I make voice dialed calls all the time without touching the phone. I'm using a Motorola H17...not sure if that makes a difference.
2 thoughts here:
Yes, the usb location sucks. it's the worst possible spot, it's in the way no matter how you hold the phone. It really should have been on the bottom.
I didn't know windows mobile phones from 4 years ago could play HD movies?
My G2 has no problem chewing through an unconverted 720p divx using rockplayer in software mode. Now I don't have to spend 3 hours converting a 2 hour movie.
I'd agree about the USB port location. The one major plus that the iPhone has is that it uses a standardised docking socket, so there are hundreds of docks, cradles, adaptors, interfaces, etc around for it. Try and find even one for Android phones.
It would have been such a good idea to come up with a standard spec hardware port for all Android devices (not limited to just that, but so that every phone has the same basic interface, power connector and audio options). Then we could have lots of lovely accessories.
Handsfree Bluetooth dialling works just fine in my car by the way, but it is the car stereo that does the voice recognition bit.
Oh, and I did like the Notes program in stock WinMo - the ability to seamlessly draw or write (with optional pen-to-text recognition) with the stylus, or type if you prefer, was great.

It has been acknowledged by many that Reverse USB Tethering is an essential feature missing in the Android OS, atleast natively. Several processes have been attempted but none of them is sure-shot and certainly not noob friendly.
However, while browsing through random sites i came across
Code:
[URL="http://www.codeproject.com/kb/android/usbportforwarding.aspx?fid=1625023&df=90&mpp=10&sort=Position&tid=3900438"]THIS LINK[/URL]
which "seemed" to be an easy solution. I did attempt it but was unsuccessful. I expect the advanced users to have a bit more insight into this and they would like to post their views after attempting it
P.S. - Please remember that we are talking only about sharing a PC internet connection via USB to an Android mobile aka REVERSE USB TETHERING so please do not mix this with "Conventional" USB Tethering
Yeah it is pointless you can easily use wifi
Sent from my GT-I5800 using XDA App
..the point of this is to get your computer's internet connection to your mobile, It's very useful for people who haven't got wifi at home or a packet data plan..
Visualise this -
Someone has a old desktop PC at work or home which doesnt have a wi-fi card. What it does have is a hi-speed unlimited LAN connection. On the other hand he only has a G3 with no 3G or Wi-fi access. Only a barely sustainable 2G data connection.
Now u see the usefulness of this project ? Not everyone is lucky enough to have a wi-fi hotspot near them or create an ad-hoc wifi with the above configutation
Downloading applications for your phone can be pretty tricky without any internet connection, or it can be pretty expensive if you have to pay for the data you receive. Whilist you can find some apk's from the net, you need to have access to market to get the more 'unknown' apps that no-one has uploaded to the web.
I myself was looking for a solution like this for a long time, but then I bought myself a 256kb\s data plan which costs 5€\month
Yeah, like I said, some apps are in the web, but rarely those not-so-popular ones. That's why market is essential, and this reverse usb-tethering a perfect solution for some users..
To expand on Thom47's views suppose i have to update Google Maps, can you imagine the time it would take over a conventional 2G network where data connection keeps dropping often ? You could argue that updated Google Maps app can be downloaded and pushed to phone for replacing the outdated version. But in this case Google Maps was just an example.
And where i live, Wireless Routers cost atleast $20 or more (not sure about the exchange rate). Kinda pointless to install one if its needed only for a phone. Considering that i already have access to a decent LAN a USB cable seems to be the most viable option...

just get any cheap wifi router
netgears is cheap and works fine
u can always use ur PC even w/o te wifi card in it by a cable
wifi is much more better and freedom u will gain plenty of other options like SSH file sharing etc which u wont have in reverse tethering
u would be only saving 1200-1300 Rs (INR) by that which if u buy saving ur pocket money will pay u back sooner than later
i had similar problem earlier now i wonder why to turn on the PC
Hi,
If you can use linux, this can be done easily.
http://www.linuxreaders.com/2011/03/android-access-internet-from-computer-via-usb.html
As usual, u miss my point.....
AFAIK, its not decreed anywhere that u have to use your cell only when u r sitting next to a PC. I could update the files / programs and use it elsewhere too. Do you know the size of Swype beta full language file ? Have u ever tried to download it via 2G ? Regarding the consideration of buying a cheaper phone we can also tie a string to two empty match boxes for communication and that would be much cheaper. Unfortunately it wouldnt serve my purpose. I just wanted a way to update my apps / programs quickly once a day or week so that I could use them later. Its not like I wanna use my cell to download stock ROMs or even larger files. There are other numerous examples I could give but it isnt gonna change either of our viewpoints.
@dpthakar - thank you for your suggestion. Did know bout the linux solution but its supposed to run only on Win 7. I prefer my Win XP PC but I will probably have to run it in VM if all else fails.
clarkov some people needs it because you can update your android apps and surf the android market using that shared pc connetion.
what else dohhh !!!!!!
and btw instead of writing pointless replies on this thread .. all those writing it should stop .. and let the other figure out a way to do this reverse connection.

We're wanting to use reverse USB tethering here, and we've proved our point and usefulness of this many times, so that there should be no question whether It's good or not, yet you still can't accept it and have to tell how It's pointless and how we must get a wifi router. Right.
I second that !
Even I have an unlimited broadband plan for my system and i dont have a wifi router so would like to share it with my mobile!
Got any working ideas?

I didn't know about this! Thanks!
Samsung Dive is an excellent tool.
it also helps with few other things.
The other day i misplaced my note under my desk and i went online and made it ring( it rings even in silent mode )
Sounds great! I will have to check this out. I have been using SeekDroid since it came out, but this might be a more fool proof way, since I have had issues with Seekdroid while running practice tests. Thanks!
Doesn't seem to work in the US. Saying my ZIP is not enough digits and I don't see the setting on the phone menu to "find my mobile."
Edit: nevermind, deleted the optional address information. Still not working yet...added +10000000000 (0's are my phone number) since I'm in the US....
Edit 2: I previously had a SGSII on my Samsung account. Perhaps it's trying to locate that device (hehe, the new owner is probably panicking).
How can I delete that device and add my Note?
Edit 3: Nevermind, figured out how to add the Note here:
https://v2.samsungdive.com/help/guideRemoteControls.do
Doesn't say how to delete a device I no longer own though....
thanks for this
Although find my mobile worked fine with me "lock mobile" and "ring mobile" didn't although it is showing as succeeded on the web
any idea?

The FAQ says to delete (disable) the feature on your phone before selling it.
I factory reset it so it had to be disabled as the phone re-formatted.
Oh well. Works on my Note but I hope I don't wipe some guy's SGSII that I sold it to lol.
this is a really good tool, i played around with it for a while and its an asset
guys lock screen and all is working for you ?
any specific apk should be installed?
what ROM are you using ?
Thank you very much! It's working like a charm
THANK YOU!!
I saw this in the settings and wondered from where on the net one can control it.
@ArticCat: Are your phone's data/wifi enabled? 'Cause it needs to communicate with the servers.

Tinfoilhat and all, but any and all cell companies know where you are 24x7. Hint: they could give two ****s.
I, on the other hand, want to wipe my phone if I lose it, so I'm in. Samsung can watch me drive around all they want but I'd be willing to bet they have better things to do, like make Touchwiz more bloated and the like.

Keyboard and mouse sharing with a Windows computer

Well I've bought the Note 12.2 to boost my productivity and to do that I need to share my PC's mouse and keyboard with it,
I thought of side sync however it turned out the tablet only work as a host for a phone screen and doesn't connect to a host computer.
Then I tried share KM which as far as I can tell never works, tried it on SIII, NoteII, NoteIII, Note 10.1 2014 and never got it to work, still putting hope in it and reading all the great reviews I decided to install it on my 12.2 only to find a message saying that beta test have ended please update the application with no updated version available any where.
Is there any way I can achieve keyboard and mouse sharing between my PC and my 12.2?
Any way to actually achieve that seamless integration between windows and the android tablet just as if it was an extra screen?
UPDATE
Thanks for every one who replied, to make what I need clearer please watch the following video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HVvczhM5KxI
1- Samsung SideSync works when using a phone with a PC or a phone with a tablet, but not using a tablet with a laptop, which I need
2- ShareKM is abandoned and doesn't work any more.
3- Synergy is extremely buggy and takes more time to get it working than it actually operating as intended.
4- after digging deeper i found an app called take control lite, however it requires root access.
Thankfully towel root works brilliantly and doesn't trip Knox so i will try this app and update with the results.
UPDATE 2
Take Control Lite doesn't work with Note Pro for some reason it crashes every time you try to establish a connection.
I'm confused, are you looking to remotely control your tablet or are you looking to use it as a second display. For the latter I have used Air Display with limited success. I say limited because the resolution of the tablet being high the resulting scale of elements on screen is ridiculously small.

Ah. I'm unaware of any working alternatives at this time. Synergy for Android doesn't work on this device as far as I can tell. It looks like ShareKM has been abandoned temporarily. Perhaps contact samsung to inquire about their intentions to support Side Sync on this tablet?

I did, but I assumed by 'side sync' he meant the process of side syncing, not the app SideSync. (Note the difference in names..)
I haven't given it a try at all. (As pretty obvious from the first-time launch message in the screenshot ) It's not something that is of use to me.
SideSync works differently on phones and tablet. On phones when you connect to a PC it screen mirrors or lets you control the phone with your PC's keyboard and mouse. On tablets, it acts as if the tablet were a PC. Meaning, when you SideSync a phone to a tablet the phone screen mirrors on the tablet and you can control the phone with the tablet's keyboard; including external BT keyboard and mouse if you're using them. You can't screen mirror or control a tablet with a keyboard and mouse from a PC. You can't really do anything with SideSync between a tablet and a PC.
From Samsung Apps...
The only one I know of is Synergy. It works well indeed between PCs .Between Android and PC (what you want) I never tested , it's in alpha and the tablet needs to be rooted.
I'm not sure exactly what OP is trying to accomplish, but logitech makes keyboards (e.g., k810) and mice that can pair with multiple devices and easily switch between them.

I wasn't at first either until I saw the video linked in post 3 of this thread. Skip to 1:22 in that video.
Upon looking for other similar solutions I ran across Synergy which is something I'd love to get working on my tablet.

I'm able to get the tablet to connect to synergy on my macbook but the tablet doesnt respond to any inputs from keyboard or mouse when i mouse over to it.
You guys can try this. It's from Rsupport who makes SideSync. I haven't used it in over a year but I used to use it to screen mirror and control my N10.1-12. It used to be a PC app but now looks browser based. It mentions something about needing to install a Samsung plug in from what I briefly read.

Well my friend I am sorry but I also didn't have any luck getting it to work, with several types of totally random bugs, for now i could only advice you not to use it
Here's Mobizen spoon fed to you.
Install this on your Windows PC (Mac users, you're on your own)...

Install these on your tablet...
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rsupport.mvagent

Mobizen works over Wi-Fi or USB. USB's faster and works with the Samsung driver installed by Kies.
Follow the password set-up instructions and you'll get this...
Thanks Barry. I tried this with my MacBook Pro using the chrome browser method and it works Ok in Wifi mode but disconnects repeatedly on the USB side. The windows standalone application is fantastic though and works well for me on my windows machine. Typing this right now using it.
