it depends...if your apk won't decompile and build properly even using both Decompilers and Builders, replace the framework-apk's from your phone...

So, do I just copy that file, and place it in the same directory for the app that I want it to build?
Basically, what I've done is decompiled an app, edited a few text files within it (I couldn't get edits to stick simply within root browser) and now I want to build the app. The instructions say to just drag & drop the path into the manager and click "Start Building."
But with, or without the framework-res.apk from the phone, it just says "Smaling" for about ten seconds, then runs more script and closes before I can read any of it. But nothing shows up in the result folder...

Tab pngs in framework-res and twframework-res .. you should be aware on how to edit .9.pngs.
If I am not mistaken you need to:
1. Decompile your app.
2. Edit your .9.png with gimp or photoshop.
3. Use the .9.png editor that came with android sdk to verify your changes.
4. Recompile your app.
5. Test and repeat if necessary.
Correct me if I am wrong.

The fcs are coming from wrongly made .9 pngs.Like i said before,dont touch the dark lines and dots which determine the content and stretchable area.Cut of the part which you want to modify,make modifications and merge it with the surrounding lines again.Like bumslayer said,you can use draw9patch tool from sdk.But that's an extremely time consuming process.It'll let you convert any png to .9 patch png but only one at a time.
Here's what I use: xUltimate-D9PC
This one "compiles" the .9.png files. All you have to do now is drag them to the res/drawable-ldpi folder of the apk without even decompiling the app with apktool. Easy, no?
And yes, you can thank me now (credits to the original poster, of course).

Thanks!! My status bar is in initial stages and would look very different from that.
Guys I am pissed off now!! I use activity_title_bar from USSR and it works but when I make my own it FC's!! I have applied 9 patch and tried all sorts of stuff!! I have no option other than to copy png from his rom... is it an offence here?? Cuz these days people are getting sued for copying.

why the heck hasnt anyone being using the crap out of this thing??????....its awesome...allow me to explain...i really like the ui of the focal camera but hate not being able to turn the sound off...so i used this...decompiled it....replaced the sounds with blank /silent mp3s and recompiled it and signed it...and it worked...only issue is that the video camera forced closed when trying to switch back...im going to do a logcat nad post the apk here so if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated....

Really? In V2 I didnt set the mode because I had problems when facing errors while doing task, I couldnt see far back!

Whalesplaho's radio3 didnt work for me, so I did it myself.

Sorry if my question sounds too much noobish..but i tried to use fm radio after replacing my radio3.apk with the right permissions and i found out that somehow i had my fm radio 4.0.apk deleted (no FM Radio icon). Although i had a titanium backup for this app, i didn't make it to restore as it stucks to restoring forever (maybe because backup was from .569 and i am on .101 now? ). So my question is, is there any way to install the fm player for my sony XZ ? I couldn't find anything..
EDIT: Nvm...my FM Radio decided to reappear itself after a reboot..

i pushed the apk files attached in 2 posts on the thread to /system/app and set the correct permissions. the fm radio icon disappeared from apps drawer and did not return even after reboots.

the mod works, thanks. had no problems with de-/compiling
but my friend, you are right. the headphones are like an antenna, so without them, you will have a bad signal.
i have now radio without headphones, but no radiostations available, if i put in headphone...bäm nice signal.
not sure if we can do anything about that with editing some apks. if someone has an idea, i can try with my apktool. but i guess its due to hardware

Made an xposed module out of this modification, should be now easy to apply to any rom without decompiling

not at all. I just decompiled it and then recompiled it.
I've worked a lot with S4 Framework before. I never faced such an issue as this one.
hope someone can help me.
Goldie already suggested the most common cause, a gap in the ID sequence. Did you add the framework(s) to the session configuration? Perhaps you had a typo when you added them? Otherwise a corrupt apk or an outdated decompiler.
We really can't do more than guess since you didn't provide essential information about your decompiler version or a detailed description of the steps you used to decompile it.

I used Apktool for decompiling. Apktool is no longer updated. however I am using its latest available build.
I also used stable Version of APKMulti Tool. it gave the same error. I've read another xda post they said
there should be a problem with the id numbers and their corresponding symobls. however I didn't get the meaning of it
You still didn't tell us what version of apktool you are using, if you added your frameworks to the apktool configuration or any other essential details.
People could help you a lot more effectively if you provide crucial details. My Ouiji board can't tell what file versions you have, how your system is configured or whether you are making any missteps along the way.

Version 1.5.2, bro decompiling apk is easy. I have worked a lot on other frameworks and faced a lot of errors.
but this one is one of those that I don't know how to solve.

some samsung framework have errors in recompiling... to solve it you have to delete all the identifier in the log file and recompile... you need time but it works.

well in fact, I did just that, and all corresponding errors were gone. but I was tired so I left it. I guess I would go for it again.

Download the attached zip and replace your apk tool files with these keep a backup of your current version as well
Run the if framework and twframework commands
Now try to decompila and compile the framework without any changes, it should work properly

This looks like a wonderful tool that night save me as I'm having trouble with apktool with a lollipop 5.1 framework. However is there a Mac osx version? I know this thread is for windows but the pic above has Mac theme. I have searched but not found one.

As you can see dex manager takes smali and baksmali from binaries folder ,so download the smali n baksmali the new one and rename it to same as in binaroes folder and copy replace it,ur updated with new one
