Sorry to "crash" the party, but I'd never buy a Sony (Ericsson) ever again.
Why? Simple...
- Lousiest support I've ever seen.
They may release the one or another ROM update for their phones, but, in terms of W/X8, dropping support after just a year with lousy excuses like "oh sorry, Froyo won't run satisfactory on your devices and Gingerbread is well beyond the capabilities" is what I take as "****ing the customer over big time".
- Somewhat solid hardware packed into cheap-ass plastic.
I don't know about you but my major gripe with the X8 has always been the back cover which just crackles/crunches when you hold the phone.
That being said ... I wouldn't opt for something else than a Samsung or Motorola. I'm deeply satisfied with my Galaxy S2. Sturdy design, nice looking and so far a great support from Samsung.
That's of course my opinion, your mileage may vary.

I agree with you, SE definitely worst support for their smartphones.
But too bad, i love only SE designs phones.
I satisfy with my X8 now, my daily usages are only Opera Mini, calls, whatsapp and text. The phone's performance is ok for me, the only bad thing is the screen is too small.
I will not buy any phone within next 9months, and since my contract is end on Jan 2013 too.
I think i will buy Arc S for next, or similar to USD 250-300 around end of the year.

SE is all about the design of their phones. I seek performance.
Voting for Samsung, HTC and Motorola!

Depending the price and screen size either Mini Pro or Pro if a hardware keyboard is something you want. I realised after I had bought my X8 that it would have been nice with X8 with hardware keyboard and it seems Sony (Ericsson) thought the same thing since they released the Mini Pro

ray or mini form 2011

m also not very satisfied with my xperia x8, but i still love SE ..................eagerly waiting for sony xperia s

i really like motorola droid razr max because its battery lasts longer.. 3300mah!! that would really last longer..but sad its only for verizon huhuhu..it wouldnt work here in the phils.

could anyone suggested me a phone with a good battery?? anyone??

Maybe the moto defy+, btw seems that motorole has some models with good battery.
I'm satisfied with my x8 too, it was a very cheap purchase, even if locked with a 12 month contract. And I like the clean layout.
But as others have said, YMMV... It's full of mobile phones out there.

Dear wilbso, I will go for ARC or ARC S in next few months.
Just because of the Design keeping the worst service quality aside. I have voted for ARC also.

thank you for voting. good choice

The new Xperias look really good, but sadly they aren´t dual-core-phones.
ATM, I need a new PC, so I won´t buy a new phone in the near future.
My contract ends in November, and I think that until then, smartphones with tegra 3 will be available, so my next phone will mist probably be a quad-core phone, maybe a HTC or Samsung.

What phone would you trade your x10 for?

I have an opportunity to sell my x10 and make a significant profit on what I paid, but If i do sell it, would it be worth getting a milestone etc.
Anyways, if you could trade your x10 for any phone what phone would it be?
Another x10
Probably get an iphone.. sad I know.. but it works.. and the industry that's built up around it means that you've got a spectacular array of accessories to chose from.
EDIT... Actually just need to say.. I wouldn't swap mine either!
x10 with 2.1 or just x10
i'd go with nexus one
I love my X10 Will buy again X10 with 3600-Battery

Very Good
I'd stick with my X10, it is just too beautiful !
My friend has a Nexus ONE and he is jealous, we did some side-by-side tests and the X10 performed better in every situation. Although as he correctly pointed out, is it worth the price difference ??? I think it is !
I wouldn't trade my X10.
I like the device now and I only see it improving with new firmware upgrades.
I do realize, as a long time SE consumer, that these upgrades will be few in number and the phone will be abandoned within a year but that's the rule of business.
Well, there are no phones on the market now worth switching with X10
But, if Motorola decides to make Motoroi available for other markets, not only Koreea, i guess i will swap it with a Motoroi.
Other way, i will buy the Galaxy S and keep both phones

+1.
I have it for 3 days now. If I would like another one I would buy it at the first place. For me it's the best at the moment. I love it.
Evo 4g looks sweet
i think i'd keep it, but if i had to swap it would be for the desire. my girlfriend has one and the battery life on that is a hell of a lot better!
Choose a DESIRE or LEGEND.
DON´T HESITATE!!!!!!!!!!!
I tried today both. Man the difference is without words. There are GALAXIES between.
1. Trackball (IMPORTANT, can´t live without, as i come from X1!!!!!!!!)
2. MT
3. Sense
4. Screen
What i like most is the UI of the HTC´s. Just look @ the Dialer, that says everything. (Smart Dial and so on.....)
Although i have to say that the Design of HW and SW is amazing @ X10. HTC has here to do A LOT! But thats it @X10. I USE my phone, NOT watch it....
Will sell my X10....
Personally I find the Desire so unattractive visually that I wouldn't want to use it despite the stellar job done by HTC on Sense UI, and the appealing AMOLED technology display. I don't understand the kind of customer HTC was trying to appeal to when creating the design of Desire and the Nexus One as well. These handsets remind me of a shoe's sole.
Sense is boring.
HTC's AMOLED sux in sunlight while X10's display is amazing.
Trackball... just another point of failure... 3 hardware buttons are not enough??
MT ... well, if you are a gamer but i'm not and i prefer to use my phone with one hand
Did i mention Desire is super ugly?

Yeah, I had a very bad impression of its appearance while playing with the handset a local shop. It looks absolutely terrible. I don't understand who HTC has hired to design their Android handsets? What's with the brown color and the strange, overly oval shapes?
I Sold my Desire last week, and got an X10, the desire was a much better phone, software wise, but design factor wise the X10 is so so much better.
The Desire was boring to look at, in my opinion and to me thats important.
Thats the only reason I sold it. Sense is better, the screen is so much more sensitive, but... was completely unusable in sunlight.
The only phone I would like now is the Evo, but it wont work in the UK, so I can stop dreaming.
Bloke

May be getting offerd a new contract due to the faults on my x10 - what phone?

Well being on my second handset and having serious problems the that even the shop cannot get sony to sort out [virtually un usable reboots + overheating] I may be getting offered a new contract if they can rather than a 3rd x10. What would you go for? UK - Orange, thinking desire HD. Love my x10 appart from all the problems with my un-luckiness but never mind will be glad to be rid of the problems
Desire HD is great, but everybody sais that the battery last only for a half day. If I were you I would get a Nexus S or a Galaxy S (maybe Desire Z)

Do you think you could get a short term phone.. and then arc?
I think stock android is extremely ugly. And also, the Nexus S isn't exactly a looker... might be hard to adjust from the X10
I say wait for the Arc
I think you'd have to be retarded to buy an arc personally.. after seeing how they do business.

I also think you should go for the Arc at least i am. I have been extremely happy with the X10 and dont really care about SE Updates being late as all i care is being able to mod it and have devs supporting it. All the people complaining from SE are just ...idk you decide, just look at all other companies Apple, Samsung, Htc they all have their own problems just look in their forums and see the same story..people screaming f..k Samsung never again f...k Htc etc.. I really do a lot and i mean alot of research before i buy a phone and let me tell you the x10 suited me alot more than a galaxy s or a desire or an iphone and ive had the galaxy s (just horrible phone...fast but unreliable plastic garbage so i said never Samsung) and i still have an iphone 4 well my wife does..that phone is so limited its not even funny..anyway all im saying is do not listen to never SE again and etc.. SE have been making nothing but great reliable devices. Now the Arc is coming with the latest software so i dont think you should worry about any updates soon and plus x10 has a very good comunity here and i beleive the Arc will also and it will probably be the same people that own the x10 and more. Do your research and see what you like and what you want to do with the phone, remember its what you like not someone else.

By saying "We know we made mistakes..... butttt we aren't going to do anything about it", they are simply trying to convince previous customers this experience will be better, while at the same time winning over new customers who might have heard bad things about the x10, et al.
Just a lame marketing ploy. Now, if they were willing to actually step up and at least give us froyo, I, for one, would change my tune greatly.
I would be telling my friends to get the arc instead of the opposite (as I do love my x10, thanks to the community on here.), as I just hate the way sony ericsson choose to do business.
The Arc looks so good, I'm willing to forgive any of SE's sins
One device I'd really like to have in the interim is a Desire Z. 1.8Ghz baby
The Desire Z (T-mobile G2) is almost universally considered to be a good device. Better battery life than Desire HD i think. LOTS of developer support.

Xperia S from an x10 user's perspective

A week ago, I passed on to the XS from my good ol' x10 and think that opinionating would be useful for some of you that are in the decision process. Beware, this will be a long one:
Design: Looks is great. Holds firmly in the hand. Transparent bar is very distinguished. Capacitive dots might rarely be missed or rarely unresponsive though, but very rarely after you get used to. Phone seems a bit big in the beginning but you get used to that after a few days and start to enjoy the bigger screen and higher ppi. However, I don't think I would buy a phone that even is two millimeters longer.
Media: Screen and videos are gorgous and even 30% brightness is more than enough for me. If only it had in-house diverse video playing capabilities. Sound is quite good too. I will not even say a word about the camera quality but be aware that I'm neither an audiophile nor a videophile (is this even a word?). I'm personally against no-card-slot as migrating your files is as easy as inserting the card to another phone in case of phone failure. Anyway, I guess technology is trending toward no-slots, which is also in favour of speed.
Performance: Very fast, even as is (2.3.7?). Battery is better than x10 but could have been better with respect to the duration that passed between the two technologies. By the way, phone is very stable.
Usage experience: Like two different eras when compared to the x10. I had missed multitasking very much since it was almost impossible with x10 after the 2.3 upgrade. You can hear the ringtones from the speaker while headset connected. In-call screen looks better and optimized and smartsearch is very efficient as some of you might already know with x10. I liked the keyboard. One problem is igo fills only some of the screen at the moment due to incompatible resolution. Fast charging is not true as Sony have stated recently that they never said such a specification. Be also aware that your expensive headset might not work as Sony have shifted to another standard, which iphone also utilizes. Nonetheless, I read that some had problems with the bitten fruit headsets, too. But I guess x10'ers are accustomed to headset compatibility issues.
Price/perf.: I will not get into that old-cpu-discussion which is currently irrelevant (or for at least 1.5 years?). Other than gaming, which I don't do, what software would require that in the coming months? And no ics out of the box, is that even a con? How many phones currently officially have it? Is it stable, do all apps support it at the moment?
So, I think that, in current market conditions, it deserves well the money you pay (~€450).
Sorry kiddo, even though I've just ordered one myself, I disagree with you analysis especially about ICS.
While I'm prepared to accept the dual core cpu (not being a gammer myself).
The lack of ICS straight out of the box is a big failure for the phone. Gingerbread is yesterdays man and a phone that's intended as an upgrade should be just that..an upgrade.
We even have the funny situation where the 2011 phones from SE will even spot ICS b4 the 2012 phones. Strange indeed.
SE made a lot of noise last year about being on point with software versions but look a year later, they are back to the same old crap.
I've ordered one...yes...will I keep it....who knows. I'll play with it for a few days and if I notice any real weaknesses in it. It's going straight back.
I am very reluctant to give my money to a company that just seems to refuse to get it and by that I mean the fact that android sells these phones and that's that. These phone manufacturers have been making phones for years since the iPhone came out without making an impression until android came on the scene.
Samsung, htc and others seem to have got it but SE for some inexplicable reason
despite insisting on making android phones refuse to embrace the platform completely.
SE need to stop selling SE phones running android and start releasing android phones made by sony.( if u catch my drift)
Until they make that philosophical shift, they will continue to lag behind.
Xperia s...fantastic display(the best available), great camera, competent hardware specs. But once again released with dated software.
Its not so much gingerbread that I resent, it's the fact that the very same company considering all that happened with the x10, is back making the same stupid stupid mistake.
Once the galaxy s3 gets released, that will be that for the xperia s. All quite on the western front will be the story that's told about it.
In technology sophistication will always win out over design and presentation. Only a small minority will choose style over substance as far as tech goes. They might do that with all else but they won't with tech....not ultimately any way.
if i had the money i would buy it but the hardware seems to average, almost every dual core has the similar specs, and i think that the main disadvantage is to launch a dual core in the era of quad cores...

Agree about the ICS part, it's a shame that Xperia S doesn't come with ICS out of the box but still for a smartphone at least (not tech in general) I think style is very important too and don't forget its awesome camera so I still find the Xperia S to be a great choice & I disagree completely about it being history when SGS3 is released, There are still a lot of people (like me) who prefer to have a phone with great specs with enough perf & speed for their needs & awesome camera & display rathe than a super fast powerful piece of brick which they won't even need ever to use it to its full potential, and not a fair comparison anyway since sgs3 is a newer phone (relase time-wise)

Son, well, you are totally wrong there. How come iphone sells too many if not for design and presentation? How sophisticated is it?
You also are talking about a phone whose specs are not confirmed and yet to end XS at we-even-not-know-what-release date! Some sense pls. Of course, a few months are long enough for higher tech but then what. There will always be some model with better specs than the former.
XS is a good choice for its price.

He might be talking about a phone that we dont really know about but considering the SGS2 is practically on par with the xperia S, its logical to asume the SGS3 is going to be a beast compared to both thus stomping them in the perf department
Love the Xperia S tough even if i dont have it i agree that the power it has is enough for most needs
But since the phone JUST released, it would have been a smart move to make it ICS ready but i guess theyre not done with their ics update(why do these companies take so long?)

I disagree with the notion that Sony hasn't learned anything. They even got to the extent of releasing official bootloader unlocking and support the Cyanogenmod community, if that is "refusing to embrace android" i really don't understand what is.
What phones in the market now are ICS out-of-the-box? besides the obvious answer Nexus S of course.

All of the new phone from all manufactures even hauwei all spoting ICS. HTC, LG.
tHE XPERIA S is the only 2012 phone without ICS.
Unlocking bootloader does not improve your phone...an OS UPGRADE does and on that front sony ericsson are very reluctant participants. It's always one excuse after another.
I've just received my xperia s but right now even though totally blow away by the display and the speed of the device, I am still minded to send it back because of gingerbread.
Unlike most of you, I find gingerbread on this phone just annoying..I mean common gingerbread in 2012?
And as for Apple. They got a head start and have a mass of mindless followers. Most people who I know who own iphones actually believe it to be the best and most sophisticated. They think android is a pale imitation. They are mostly noobs and remain so until they actually get to play with android and then slowly even if not totally their minds begin to change.
Apple as a company especially their iPhone brand is on the way down. The iPhone 4 was their last hoorah.
If you've got apple shares...pity you. I see another bubble exploding just as it did in the nineties against microsoft when apple sacked no other but their marketing man (and I stress marketing because that's what apple are in essence) Steve Jobs

i have used the arc on gb and ics.both...
ics gives half the battery life of gb...
for me personally that's a downside
Sent from my X10S using xda premium
if you ask me to point out a firmware flaw in xperia s, I'll say... its the absence of 3.0 kernel rather.than absence of ics
coz you'll get ics anyways later...but sony will never upgrade kernel (they never do)
and because.it.comes with gb and you get ics later as upgrade, means you have a choice betweem gb(battery life) and ics (performance)....
a phone that.comes with ics doesn't have that choice....
you'll say downgrading is insane....but i did downgrade from vista to xp after getting fed up with it in 2 months....
its not like new version is necessarily better than old version for all needs
Sent from my X10S using xda premium
Comparing battery by a beta rom on arc doesn't mean that ics have inferior battery(and that to with sony bloat)
You are doing good dev work now a days but you don't know the benefit of ics over gb?
For me battery life is 2x
Being a daily ics user i can say that
xperia s will get it in 2 months...so what's the difference....
i mean.... its not.like it'll never get ics...
btw all major tech website reviews of ics have noted greater resource usage....hopefuly they are not lying...lol

ics extracts power of dual core from your phone efficiently...lol that's why you are feeling the boost

battery is 2x for me
Self experience is much better than blogs

Again i am talking about ics, not any phones
and if we take xperia s(which is dual core) is missing that
And HW acceleration is also a much better feature

Really? That's very new for me. Shame on htc desire developers who developed kernels and cooked roms and made the phone very usable even in 2012. One with open bootloader would not need the sole support of companies and may use whatever rom available by 3rd parties.
Anyway, I don't understand this ics-right-away fixation.
@sahib
well, i cant argue much coz you have more ics experience than me...
but its all like xp vs win 7 debate i guess....
i still have xp to play games on my laptop.... win7 cannot run games at full resolutions on my slow computer....but for everything else, win7 is better....
there is a post on sony mobile.website which outlines where gb is better and where ics is better... i would suggest everyone to look at that post... and then decide on whether to use gb or use ics...
its all about what you want from your phone and which software fulfills your needs most.
and lemme make it clear....I'm not an ics critic....
its great...and it has many awesome new features...but i just wanna say that ics is not that important to make a question of life and death....
(and yes...my personal opinion...everyone's might differ)

I saw that post on phonearena but its for 2011 devices which have 512 mb ram which causes the problems(and you have sony bloadware like timescape which is huge ram consuming)
But we are in xperia s thread which have 2x ram capacity so no problems
and its not like windows 7 and xp
Ics adds features other than visual changes
like HW acceleration and optimized for dual core phones
The general user does not know or care if he has a S3 or S4/Exynos/A5/etc. To them, if it says dual core, its about the same. What they do care is the screen quality, styling, how it feels in their hands (Quality, shape), and maybe some technical terms/slogans that they feel means anything to them, like Bravia (SuperAMOLED, Retina display, etc). Also many if not most take opinions of peers, or even who is advertising for the phone as guides to their next device. To them, GB is the same as ICS, its Android. Just like iOS, do they really know whats different between iOS? Not really.
You guys are the minority that tweaks and mods their phones, not the majority. Most of my friends have no idea what a ROM is much less kernals and android versions. You saying the X S will fail just because of lack of ICS at launch? Wrong, its selling extremely well in Europe as well as Asia. I actually remember an article stating its mostly sold out in the UK due to its display and styling.
Hardware wise, its not the latest, but it doesn't have to be. Its fast enough, and the screen is good, which affects the user experience the most.
I'm not saying the X S is perfect, but its a good combination of hardware where it matters and software that works well for users. There isn't any ground breaking ICS feature that everyone absolutely needs to have. You are a power user, you might use the task manager more, but most people won't even touch it.
Several of my friends still used 1.6 on their X10s when 2.3 came out. Most people really don't bother with it. Likewise with other phones.
XP/Vista was due to widespread press release of how bad Vista was. To this date most people believe its a horrible OS even though by SP1~2 it was sorted out. Fully patched Vista is performance wise the same as 7, yet no one cares because the name is already bad, hence 7 was rushed out. Mass media and word of mouth = what consumers hear, not some tech forum or blogs. This is also why the iphone is successful. Good ad campaigns are game changers.
Experiences from..
using the X10, Ray, iPhone 4, and played awhile with a Sensation XE. Friends of all sort. Advertising class.
Xperia S came in market in early March so th eproduction of the phone started early this year, which phone had ICS at that time??? all the current XS are made in jan-feb...wait till april and there will be out of box ICS.
I remember wit X10 there was a big issue with the first slot, the USB was glues so breaking off was common,i myself got the phone replaced, lack of HD.but then the later version solved these issues,XS is good but i will wait for te next slot of XS which will have ICS,by that time all the issues regarding XS will also be solved

Lot of us won't buy sony again. I'll stick to samsung or maybe LG Nexus 4. A lot of people ask me for advise when buying a new phone, Sony is banned from now on.
Only Sony if they release acceptable hardware with unlocked bootloader. Probably LG or Nexus for me next year.
Via Mobile
this is what i think
i dont know more about this
but as i have noticed and i have seen as weel
compair to SAMSUNG and LG sony is giving at list 2 updates as well as if you take a close look at UI and hardware design then you will realize that sony is making such nice handset of the level where in samsung LG cant even think
one very true incident
in my family most of people are using sony and you all guys wont believe they all have even not update to ics they has to say that its more then enough
so if you think keeping general customer in hand then they all are satisfied
but you for development crezzy genies like you all guys sony should at list provide 4.1.1 or 5.1 to arc s as that is the most and the last expensive handset by SE(sony ericsson)
here i have just shared my opinion i may b wrong or right but this is what i think
I don't like sony because...
- Screens are not so good imho
- Outdated Hardware
- Crappy build quality just lost my arc while jogging and now its screen is cracked and i can pay 130$ haha Never... I'll buy new phone
- Exmor R actually really sucks compared to Note 2 Camera for example
- Really Slow. My arc on stock ics had 0.00MB free RAM.

- Screens are not crap. And it doesn't look unsharpen because of contrast but because of much lower dots-per-inch density. And, comparing an phone released in january 2011 with one released in may 2012... Really?
- Get yourself an Samsung/Apple device, and let it fall while you're jogging. Let us know the result.
- Exmor R Sucks?
- Yes, the ICS update is quite slow, mostly because of laziness of Sony programmers, not because of crappy hardware.

Well about the ppl comparing arc s and samsung galaxy s 3 are u ****ing kiding me? ?? 4 cored phone vs single core ? with around 1 and a half year defferance ?Sony was never really good at developers phones.Sony/sony ericsson was good at making beautiful phones and thats what arc is and now xperia T.In my opinion arc s gives all the productivity the main stream user needs. If u were looking for a developer's phone u should have bought nokia n900 or HTC HD 2 and test whatever software u want.I still have friends that are all new software inthusiasts and they are still using hd 2 with ICS on it.So... pls stop crying about sony not adding more and more updates to there 2011 phones.U cant ever compare arc s to sg s2 because s2 got 2 times the proccesor power and if u bought atnt version it got even more soooo ***** please
I just cant believe all these post.
- Sony has a really nice screen, beatiful real color, not amoled that are just strong shiny fakes color, Only for the blacks are better. And outside with the sunlight i dont have problem with my Arc, except sometimes but trust me, all other phone would have the same problem.
- My Arc fell from my bed or desktop thousand of times and it has only a uncolored edge and some lines behind the cover if u look really closly. My bro dropped his Nexus S once and the glass got broke. Its just luck, but for sure isnt bad our screen.
- The camera is something awesome. A bit buggy? well still 1000 better than my friend's Galaxy Nexus.
- Audio quality and all Media services are fantastic. I love the Walkman, the Album, and Video. Are really well done. Listening music with the earplugs makes me enjoy about my choise and i dont need some stupid iPod or Mp3 player.
- Design, i fell in love with it.
- price/quality of the Arc is perfect.
- ICS yes it was buggy but at least we had it, lot of other mobile didnt even get it and are stuck with Froyo or GB, so u can go back to GB to have a smoothest phone and have their same experience and dont have ICS.
And well the outdated hardware is true, but then if u prefer the last quadcore dont complain about the prices. I payed my arc S same price of how much the Galaxy S was. Glad i choose this. and honestly if i have to pay 150 euro for a ****ty phone with 300MB of ram, 600Mhz a 3Mpx camera and 3.5" screen, or 700/800 euro for a quadcore , 4.7" screen and God knows what other useless feature, i prefer 300 euro for such a good quality.
Next time feel free to buy a useless quadcore (they are smartphone...playing N.O.V.A or FB dont really need a 1.5GHz quadcore) that come with ICS, will get JB and LK and then in the middle of 2013 or beggining of 2014 will be the same story again. Samsung/HTC/LG dont update our phone, they suck, never again.
Only the Ram its the only thing that new phones, and also old one needs.
Im sad like all of u, but they need to sell new phones, they dont gain anything by upgrading. Maybe in a future would be nice if they give us the source, but nowdays people changes phones every 6 months, like people who had bought GSII and some months after the GS III and as soon the GS IV will come out, they will buy it. There are always people who will buy the last product, so they just care about creating new things for new consumers. Sony already updated the ICS series. Buggy? then as i already said go back to GB like most of all other 2011 phones.
+1 For Gogobaba behind me even if Arc S kicks GS II ass. For normal phone usage (is not playing games. We arent iPhone users, we buy SMARTphone not Gambeboy) the dual core doesnt show any difference, maybe 0.5 second faster.
BTW my first phone was a Samsung Omnia II: WM 6.x and Samsung top mobile. 1 weeks after that i bought it,all omnia's owner find it out that we werent going to get WP 7.
Did i said Samsung suck or never again windows? no i just enjoyed my phone.
As above, people moan but they're talking about what is now technologically an old phone....
People grumble about lagging and other trivial things but mine for example, flies! Admittedly through the help of some good developers....those who complain surely haven't had it from release because there are some crazy expectations. If you can't afford a fancy top line handset, At least don't moan about the best your budget can afford. I've had one from release and still now there's not anything on any other phone that I can't live without...

I can't believe people buy Sony phones expecting to get a powerhouse, my sister owns a Xperia Arc and she doesn't even knows she can update to ICS (she doesn't even knows what that is) and she is 100% in love with her phone, the reason why I like and will stick to Sony phones are the following:
-Polished, simple and unique UI (I'm looking at you, TouchWiz and however LG's UI is named).
-Beatiful designs. (Kind of personal here, but I mean, SG2 is just a rectangular phone with a button on the center compared to the NXT series).
-Good camera. (at least on my X10a, MK16a and SK17a).
-Unlike other companies, they prove hardware doesn't means good user experience (check iPhone 4 performance [good] and 2011 Xperia performance on GB [good] and LG Optimus Black performance [ugh])
There may be some more reasons I forgot, but seriously, Xperias are very good offerings all around, that's why my next phone will be either Xperia V or P, I mean: good designs, good prize (at least on Xperia P), good camera and good performance.
Besides, I got Galaxy Note 1 with my new contract on March and I really didn't liked it, screen was pretty nice and camera didn't dissapoint, but performance wasn't as smooth as Samsung was claiming, it also got pretty hot, HELL! when I got out of the store the day I got it, it got so hot I had few blue paint on my hand! ._. I sold it in 1 week and got my Xperia Pro and a Laptop with that money. <.<
I agree that Sony has already done its good job to arc, but I dun agree that it has "finish" their job already.
Here is the fact:
- Arc was launched since 2011 Apr
- 4.1 Jelly Bean Source Code Released to AOSP in 2012 Jul, which is 16 months after Arc was available
- Sony(Ericsson) was a member of the Android Alliance which has promised timely Android OS updates for 18 months after device launch, in Google I/O 2011
Unless Sony gives out a strong reason and proof that the hardware of Arc is the inadequacy for the update, I cannot conclude Sony has delivered its best effort to for Arc/2011series
I think sony still better than samsung as the devices are less brickable hardware-wise.

Oh lord and even for the newly released ph we have to wait 4-5 months more, when it was supposed to come with JB. And no new about NXT series. Uff, I dont even like Samsung and HTC, and now only way is "Nexus".
Too bad Sony, you asked for it.

I think Sony users are very lucky and should be happy with their phones. I had an Arc, absolutely loved it. Jumped ship to an LG Optimus 3D and it doesn't even have ICS yet, much less any talk about JB (screw the Open Handset Alliance). Sony ROMs give one of the cleanest, stock-like experiences unlike almost all the other manufacturers which bundle crap like Touchwiz, Optimus UI, Sense etc, which imo is one of the few reasons why the 2011 Xperia devices are able to run ICS so smoothly. I really don't see why people are already complaining because there isn't any phone running JB that is single core AFAIK, especially when the phone is admittedly rather old.

Goodbye my fellow arc fans

Today my Nexus 4 arrives and I will say goodbye to my arc S. It's been a great year here on XDA and I've installed many ROMs. Thanks to everyone here for making the experience so enjoyable.
In particular I'd like to thank doomed151 and jjdoctor for their excellent Arconium and JJs Hybrid ROMs - by far the best ROMs for this device in my experience. Also many thanks to the fxp team - CM10 is a wonderful product and it means a JB experience where Sony refused to deliver.
My arc S has the dreaded housing crack so I am sending it to Sony for a free repair before the warranty runs out and when I get it back I will put it on eBay as people still get a good price for them. With a new housing it will be like brand new and I hope whoever buys it loves it as much as I did. The design has never been matched in my opinion. Such a shame that the internal storage/RAM wasn't more generous else I think I'd of kept it. My Nexus will finally mean I get the latest version of Android which has always been my desire. I do like the Sony UX though - it is much better (and lighter) than Sense and the awful TouchWiz but I do feel they could of made a bit more of an effort to officially update the 2011 devices with the latest media apps, etc. I think Sony make too many phones and this leaves them spread to thin. They need a low, middle and high-end phone - that's it! Three devices a year is more than enough. I fear for Sony's future as their financial results are poor and the share price at a record low. It could end badly if they are not careful.
XDA is an amazing place. Take care everyone.
