[Q] I cant connect ny hd2 on my computer - HD2 General

Hi im new here
I got my hd2 when it first came out running winmo 6.5 now i just cant connect it to the computer tried more than 1 computer and more than one cable when i connect it only charges i receive nothing on the computer like i used to before i have tried everything in the setting usb to pc still same thing
please help me how can i connect it
and i also tried hard resetting it more than once same thing

under settings tab -----other , there will be a usb to pc button

I bet you have tried all setting changes so since you have done a hard reset and it still doesnt work, it has to be your micro USB cable. I had the exact same problem as yours and i feared that it was the micro USB port that was faulty. But then i tried a different micro USB cable and it works perfectly. Hence, it is likely to be your cable. Im not bad mouthing HTC because of the amazing work they have done, but their accesories seem to be a bit down on quality. My original micro USB cable is now frayed and almost severed, my Touch HD micro USB is also frayed and the original earpiece is now experiencing audio balance issues.

the thing is the cable that comes with the hd2 i lost it but when i was using it i could connect
but now im using nexus one cable and Nokia n900 cable to connect to the computer and it just charges like i said nothing appears

Have you tired different ports in your computer or tried reinstalling the drivers? To do that, uninstall the Activesync or Windows Mobile Device Center in your PC and reinstall it. Then try. If you still cannot connect your HD2 to the PC for USB mode, then im afraid the micro USB port in your HD2 is faulty. Try the above. Meanwhile, use the SD card method for flashing or transfer files using wi-fi or bluetooth.
Good Luck

If your HD2's USB port doesn't work you can connect to ActiveSync via bluetooth. I do that very often for a quick synchronization, and since HD2 has an Activesync profile it's easy to configure...
Anyway, check that "accept USB connections" option is selected in your pc ActiveSync configuration.

Most probably, he's facing the da** usb port breaking issue.

EXEC Not recognised via USB

I get a rather frustrating mesaage when I connect my O2 Exec via the USB port. It takes about 3 time before the connection with the comp finally happen.
The message is - 'USB Device not recognised' ' One of the USB devices has malfunctioned ........'.
Does anybody else have this problem and can anybody help?
Yep
I get the same problem but only with one PC. It happens on either USB port and is not helped by adding a USB hub. As such i am investigating the problem as if it is PC based.
Is this with ActiveSync or CardExport? Either way try rebooting PC first, wait for it to finish loading Windows. Power off your Universal, connect cable to Universal and PC then power on Universal. Seems to work okay for me. If you are using CardExport, remember you can't change modes while connected.
Regards
I have an O2 xda mini and that connects first time every time.
Found it strange that the Exec did not do same!
I have this on one PC - make sure the XDA is turned off first. Then plug the USB cable in and it should power up by itself and get recognised by the PC.
Also make sure you are using the very latest ActivSync (4.1 I believe).
Thanks lads - connect the cable while the Exec was off and it cobnnects first time. Good stuff!!
Why is that?
I think its the phone not the pc that is at fault, as i had a usb car charger and a usb power charger, both using a standard usb lead and the same fault applies, obviously just charging, AS wouldnt happen would it lol.
me missus just got a wizard and none of these faults occur on it
I concur that the plugging in USB while Uni is switched off is much more successful. Can I check with you guys - can you activesync by USB while bluetooth is on? I've not been successful with that.

Computer reboots/BSOD when connected to USB

Hello there,
Running an O2 XDA Mini S stock ROM with ActiveSync 4.1 on a Windows 2000. Initial ActiveSync went without a hitch, with the mobile able to sync with exhange server nice and smoothly. Then later on, whenever the phone is plugged into or unplugged from the USB data cable, the computer just reboots.
Are there any known issues with this? Could it be a problem with the USB drivers on the computer or the ports themselves? The phone developed this problem whilst plugged into an externally powered hub, but plugging the phone directly into the motherboard USB ports produced the same problems.
Thanks in advance,
Andy.
EDIT: I've attached a CPUZ report of the system so you can easily see the spec of the computer.
It's possible that your phone conector are damaged and makes a cortocircuit when you connect to the cradle.
Try whitout pluging the power in the cradle, only connecting to the usb port of the computer.

That could be a possibility, but not using a cradle here, just USB Cable.
Try deleting all of the USB controllers in Device Manager then rescan to pick them up again. resolves a multitude of USB problems

Just tried that after reading your post, no dice Thanks for the help so far though
if u r using a firewall , either disable it or delete it all to gether
i had the same problem with sygate personal firewall
If you have Kaspersky AV, download the newest version on the kaspersky website! It's not a very good idea to uninstall or disable the firewall.
Thanks for all the help guys, definately gave us a few extra things to try
Just to update the thread in case anyone comes across a similar problem in the near future;
After exhausting every possible Driver reinstall/upgrade/reformat we have come to the conclusion that it's faulty hardware (USB related) on the motherboard, so will be transferring the PC out. The PC in question is a good 5 years old and it's the MD's, so he was due for an upgrade in the near future anyway

QtekS200 usb Problem

Hi,
I am using QtekS200 G4 .When I connect to the USB in one of the pcs where Activesync 4.5 is intalled I am able to sync once or twice after which I get this error in PC USB device not recognized.I am not able to connect to PC then on.I tried reinstall ActiveSync...Rebooted etc...The problem persists.
try another USB cable or try it with other device,
I had this problem with my friend PC, and it was his USB cable, hope it is the cable, the cheapest thing to replace
but my advice try the qtek aku 2.2 ROM with SPL 2.20, it has nothing to do with this but it is for your device
The device is charging via the USB...Anyways....Let me see...When I reboot the Qtek it connects and i am able to sync....Once I disconnect after this and connect the problem crops up...
it maybe your PC, try with another PC, and please update to last bios for you mother. it maybe your PC, I'm not sure.
and it could be your phone, but I don;t think so,
do you have SP2 if you use windows XP, try to have SP2, it has a lot of fixing for USB driver.
by the way, USB cable has 4 wires, 2 for electricity and 2 for data transfer, charging doesn't mean it is not defective.
Problem Solved.....I have two USB good condition USB cables though .......A hard reset did the trick.......
great, I would say it is your computer, casue when restarting the computer fix the problem
good it is working now
I tried rebooting the pc....reinstalling activ sync.....soft reset.......Everything failed to work......Hard reset did the wonder otherwise I would have to sync via bluetooth forever .....Before purchasing any hardware i suggest a hard reset for any nagging issues....

Windows won't recognize my SGS2

Hi,
I have for two days tried getting my PC to recognize my SGS2. With no luck. I want to ROOT my phone.
I am using Windows 7 64-bit and gingerbread v2.3.5
- USB-debugging is turned OFF.
- I have tried to format the SD-card, even used different SD-cards.
- I have tried using another PC, with no luck.
- Tried diffrent versions of Kies; 1.5, 2.0, and 2.1
- Tried diffrent versions of the Samsung Mobile driver; 1.3 and 1.4.8
- Tried using a different USB-cable (the one I'm using, is original and i can see that my phone is charging.)
- I have formatted the phone several times.
- I have tried typing *#7284# and changes the USB setting from Modem -> PDA
- Windows Drivers are up-to-date.
- I cannot see anything in the Device manager.
What else is there to do? Is something wrong with my phone?
Is there any APK, besides from Gingerbreak, that i can use to root my phone?
Cheers
Could you tried it in another PC with Windows XP?
When you plug it in to the USB port... Does the phone start to charge up?
Sounds like a hardware issue, i too have Windows 7 X64 on my laptop and no such problems.
Give a shot with USB debugging to ON.

I had the same problem.
This may sound stupid, but it does work, try another USB port.
I just plugged my USB cable into either one of the front USB ports on my PC (WinXP) and sometimes the phone connected (Debugging ON: phone was an external hard drive. Debugging OFF: phone connected to KIES) and other times it didn't. I tried toggling the Debugging, switching off and on the phone, changing USB cables, uninstalling KIES and then reinstalling KIES.
I finally noticed that the phone worked fine on the front left USB port and not on the front right. I have the same thing happening on my work's PC (only it was the front right port that worked). The rear USB ports didn't work.
I doubt that it is a problem with the PC operating system (I found out later that someone with a Mac had the same problem). It therefore must be with the phone's software recognising a connection with a computer and only wanting to connect through that initial connection port.

ive noticed this problem too of it only working with certain usb ports and not others on the same pc. Quite annoying when i was trying to use my phone to transfer some files from another computer and the phone wasnt picked up by the computer.
I think it may have something to do with using MTP rather than standard USB mass storage.
Never plug your phone or any other usb powered device into your front USB ports. most of them do not supply full power. As a matter of practice you should always plug your phone into a direct motherboard USB port on the back of your computer.
I had the same problem with my front ports several times on several computers. My first galaxy S1 would not work on my front port either. all problems were solved by plugging into the direct motherboard usb ports.
Why would you turn USB debugging off?

Do you have Administrator rights?
try installing drivers manually on your pc
and then plug the phone ( usb debugging off )
Try 32bit system
Try using a 32bit XP or 7 PC someone I know had the same problem their Win 7 never gave the problem when flashing or connection with their SGS2 for over 6 months. And just the other day they had a problem so they used a XP 32 bit PC connect ok flashed ok once the phone was rebooted they connect to their Win 7 64bit and the PC saw their handset. So what gives

I have plugged in many different phones and other devices that take their power from the Front USB ports on my PC. Power has never been a problem. Recognising a device can sometimes be a problem (but the same problem happens with the rear USB ports).
I regularly charge my SGSII via the Front USB port of my PC (both work and home). Quite a few of my workmates now do the same because a spare microUSB cable is much cheaper than a good mains charger and also they can back up their phone and transfer files as well.
This worked for me
1. Unplug the USB cable
2. On the cell phone, dial the following number: *#7284# Once the last # is hit, the PhoneUtil application is launched. Choose USB -> Modem and then USB -> PDA mode. The good mode should be PDA. Even if the mode is PDA, switch to Modem and then back to PDA.
3. Plug the USB cable.
Sometimes if you're not using the cord that came with the phone it won't recognize the phone
I had the same problem with my phone but I found the cord the phone came with and it solved the problem

I have just installed SiyahKernel 2.3 and Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bits did not recognize my SGS2.
What I did is turn on and then turn off the "USB debug" option. It was off at the beginning but... I did that just in case and...
That solved my problem.
Similar issue
My phone charges when plugged in but won't mount. It worked fine until about a month ago.
I'd similar problem.
My SGS2 couldn't be connected to PC (Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit) by USB cable, but it could be connected via Wi-Fi. I found out, that my, however original, USB cable was faulty (could only supply a juice from USB port ). When I used my wife's cable (she's got SGS2 too), everything was fine: my phone connected to PC, Kies v.2.1.0.11112_41 checked firmware and wanted to update, but couldn't do it, because battery was almost flat - I'm charging it now.
Will see tomorrow, however I was able to connect SGS2 to PC via USB cable
Still having the recognition problem, however you can get around it a number if ways. Use Kies wifi to get files to your phone. Use mobile Odin to flash.
Highly recommend to pay the $2 for pro version, that way it will stay rooted.

Samsung Galaxy S5 USB 3.0 Not connecting

Hey guys, quick question for those of you with the s5, and the usb 3.0 cable.
I am trying to transfer files from my windows 7 pc. with the usb 3.0 cable.
USB 2.0 works just fine, I switch over to usb 3.0, and the phone immediately dissapears from my pc.
Switch back to 2.0, and it reappears.
Is this happening to anyone else?
Maybe you have a faulty usb 3.0 cable. Try with a different usb 3.0 cable. If it's not the cable try on different computer. After that remains only one possibility: a faulty usb connector which means service. BTW you have usb 3.0 drivers installed on your w7?
Sent from my C6833 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Yeah i have a problem with the usb 3.0 too..
When i connect my phone via usb 2.0 it works fine but when i connect it via the usb 3,0 its still only shows up as a usb 2.0 device and the both only charge at 98ma :-/ brand new usb 3.0 cable. unistalled usb 3.0 drivers still no luck.

I've got this issue as well....
except when I attempt it on my work PC with W7 x64 it works in USB2.0 and USB3.0 mode. At home on my W7 x64 build it shows up under my computer in USB2.0 mode but disappears when switching to USB3.0 mode....
tried reinstalling drivers and all that jazz and no luck.
tried two USB3.0 cables and neither work on my home rig. i'm stumped
Plug in another USB 3.0 device such as a memory stick into your computer to determine whether the issue originates from the phone/USB cable or your computer. From what you described we cannot identify the root cause!

I had this issue too, then found it was my motherboard being the issue, i turned xHCI to on instead of auto (in the BIOS) and now when i connect my S5 with USB 3.0 cable the option for that mode will show on the phone.
Auto should work but it didn't seem to allow the S5 to trigger it, maybe because the S5 defaults to USB 2.0 and then you say to it to use USB 3.0
I do notice when switching modes the phone will vasish from the computer and then after a moment or 3 show up again

fiddled with bios settings on ASUS mobo... still no luck
a) Click on “Start” and Right Click on “Computer” and select “Manage”.
b) Now select “Device Manager” and Right Click on the individual “USB controller drivers” and select “Uninstall”.
c) Restart the computer and check if the issue persists.
if the cable is a cheap one that claimed to be usb 3.0 from eBay bin it and buy one from a decent retailer or Samsung
thanks for the ideas, tried device manager uninstall and reboot. still no luck. I"m using the provided samsung usb 3.0 cable so no issues there. very frustrating I cant use my phone connection to it's full potential

Old thread I know but here is what seems is the answer.
It seems when first connecting the usb it always defaults to usb2, but then can goto the usb settings on the phone afterwards and switch to media usb3 mode. I have not found a way to make it default to usb3 mode.

Appreciate the post but the issue wasnt actually switching into usb3 mode. That I knew how to do, it was that when I do switch the phone to USB3 mode it disappears from my file explorer and I cannot access the phone storage media unless I switch back to USB2 and then it pops up again in file explorer. I still havent found a solution and have come to the conclusion it is a hardware issue likely tied to my motherboard and have just accepted it and used it in it's limited form
I don't even see any option on my S5 to switch to USB3.....
Is this option device-specific?? I have the international version SM-G900H
Edit: never mind....the cable I had was a fake....
I tested my S5 with a cable from a USB 3.0 external hdd and it worked...

So are you saying that if the cable is faulty (or in other words, USB 3.0 is not achievable with the current connection) that the USB 3.0 option simply does not appear on the phone? That may explain why I am also only seeing MTP or PTP with a 3.0 cable and hub
Reading these replies and I still don't have a solution.
I have a Lenovo P50 ThinkPad and I normally connect my S5 via USB 2.0, but I'm wanting to transfer about 20gb of files off my microSD card to my machine. When I connect with 2.0, I can't even get the entire folder to show in the navigator window.
I tried to connect to the 3.0 ports, which I use with my external HDD with no problems. I'm even using the same cable.
And yes, it's a legit 3.0 cable.
Still no solution...
Did you find a solution?
