[Q] Missing Account Sync Type - myTouch 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've searched in vain for an answer to this. I'm running the new Virtuous Affinity v2.05.0. I keep my contacts synced with T-Mobile rather than putting them in Gmail. I want to get my contacts synced back to the phone. When I go to add that account (Settings > Accounts & Sync > Add an Account), there is no T-Mobile account type option. Can someone tell me the name of the .APK I need to install to get the T-Mobile account type back? I have a copy of the rooted stock v2.3.4 ROM so I can get any of the included .APKs.
Thanks.

Asked this months ago as most custom roms have it removed...you can flash the rooted stock and let your contacts re sync, then use an app that backs up contacts and then restore them whenever you flash another rom...if you read the thread I linked, there its a way to pull the contacts out of the my tmobile website so you can import them into google. Once your contacts are in google, you won't have to worry about it as long as you own an android phone

how to keep fb links in contacts on nexusone????? please help :(

One of the biggest time wasters I have when I'm updating my rom to the newest version is going through all my contacts and linking my Gmail contacts with my Facebook ones. Is there a way to restore contacts with fb contacts already merged on nexusone and evo builds. Anyone? Because Google maybe restore 2 but I have to manually do the rest and delete the rest of the fb contacts! Please help someone
Anybody????
I've read about someone first doing a contacts backup to sdcard and then using that backup to restore the contacts on the new build without sync. I don't worry about it since I don't use FB but hope that helps you
thankyou, can u recommend a contact back-up app that back up fb links as well cause some dont
Hi.
Try this:
In winmo link all your fb contacts. After that you will need
Pim Backup (link: h**p://rapidshare.com/files/191036103/PPCPimBackup2.8__run_from_phone_.exe), a computer with internet access and a Gmail account.
1. Open PIM Backup on your Windows Mobile device. Select the Backup action and unselect everything but contacts, then hit Next.
2. At the "Select backup filename and folder" screen, unselect the "compress backup" and "binary backup" options, then hit Next.
3. Transfer the BACKUP.PIB file that you just made from your phone to your computer. Change the extension from .PIB to .RAR, then extract the file.
4. The extracted file should be BACKUP.CSC. Simply change the extension to .CSV and import the file to your gmail account. All your contacts can now be imported to your phone through gmail - just follow the instructions given in the phone's contact menu.
I did it this way, and my google account has saved the fb links, so when I change builds, after I set up my google account, it syncs the contacts with their fb links.

Sorry, like I said I don't use facebook. I remember the guy stating he used the export option on the android contacts app. I'll try it on my gf's phone and report back.

[Q] Restoring Contacts problem

I've been flashing and enjoying all the different roms. I backed up my phone from a few days ago via clockwork recovery and one version has all of the contacts that I need, but when I restore the data after a new flash, not only do I get the contacts I want, but also other things that I don't want to restore.
So for now, I just want to bring over the contacts file that I backed up, and none of the other data. I tried google sync but it only brings over the email addresses, but not the phone numbers of my contact. I tried Titanium Backup, but it did the same thing. I tried Android Backup app, but it won't restore what I backed up.
Where can I find the specific contacts file and what is the best way to back it up and restore it?
This isn't a direct answer to your question however the simplest and most foolproof way is to go into contacts and export the list. You can take that file and import it into your gmail contacts (the option is there). After that you can move the email addresses to another folder within your gmail contacts. (They'll still be just as easily accessed when emailing) After that when you do gmail sync it will always bring back just the phone numbers. Then it's as easy and adding that acccount within your rom. Hope this helps....

Best way to manage contacts?

OK, so my contacts are out of control. I have been sync'ing my contacts with Google, and now somehow I've ended up with a TON of duplicates. I would love to get a pristine copy of all my contacts and then just save it and then restore it everytime I flash a new ROM, but I don't know what is the best way to do that. I do have Tibu, but I've always run into problems trying to restore my contacts with Tibu after flashing a new ROM. I'm looking for advice from you guys on what is the best app to delete all my duplicates and then the best way to save and restore a perfect copy of my contacts when flashing new ROMs. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I have all my contacts on my Google account, that way I don't have to worry about backing them up. Then they are simply pushed to my phone when I punch in my google credentials. You might need to manage your google contacts on the computer.. it will be a lot easier. Log into gmail on the computer, and then in the upper left you can get into all your contacts. From there you can use Find and Manage Duplicates, import CSV files etc. If some contacts are only on your phone, you might need to export them as a CSV file and import them on your computer.
Once you get this in order, you don't have to worry about backing/restoring contacts on tibu etc, it'll just push directly to your phone after signing in.
Try Going into your contacts app, select the menu button and click contacts to view. It might be showing contacts that are on your phone and contacts that are on your google account.

[Q] Nothing will sync with my Google Account on CM7 by VanillaLvL

Hello, I recently flashed my phone with a custom Cyanogen Mod 7 by VanillaLvL v8 to be specific. Everything is working great except nothing will sync with my Google Account. Contacts are blank, Gmail says waiting for sync, and nothing is synced in Calendar. Has anybody run into this problem before? The whole reason I installed a custom rom was to fix my contacts, and now they aren't working. XD
I should mention I manually put some contacts in by importing a vcard file I exported from contacts.google.com on my desktop computer. However I would really like it to sync everything and for gmail and calendar to work. Thanks in advance for any help!
I seemed to have fixed the problem. The solution was to go to Settings>Accounts and Sync add another google account and then remove it.

[Q] Incoming phone calls not associated with contacts

Hi.
As title says Incoming phone calls not associated with contacts.
What ive tried:
* restore to previous date via google contacts on the web - unsuccessful
* restore to previous twrp backup - this works but as soon as i sync with google it brakes
* again restore to previous twrp backup but before i sync i export my contacts and delete all contacts via the web to import then sync. - this was ok but as soon as i sync with google it brakes again.
im out of ideas, anyone who has a better one to solve this?
Phone is a Galaxy s4+ i9506 running Cyanogen 12: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...nogenmod-12-0-galaxy-s4-lte-gt-i9506-t2988464
My guess for when this started is after running Contacs Sync Fix https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ru.ivary.ContactsSyncFix&hl=en - which was supposed to fix contact sync errors. I did have a backup of my contact data but as soon as i setup a google account and it syncs it brakes. In retrospect instead of running this app i should have just removed the account then readded it. You live and you learn.....

1. Wipe all and flash a STOCK ROM.
2. Go to GMAIL and log in your account of Google. Modify or delete the contacts you wish (like in the pic attached). Don't restore any backup coz seems corrupted or with bugs.
3. Log in to your account of Google (gmail) in your android and you are done.

thanks for your reply! I however did a slightly different option instead of installing stock rom i wiped sys/data and boot flashed with cm and finally when restoring from titanium backup only selected a few apps being careful NOT to select anything to do with call log or contact.. sofar so good! Thanks for the hint
