[Q] Wifi hotspot and scan/connect at the same time ? - Networking

Hi,
I am currently developing an application that would require to have hotspot activated, and, at the same time, perform wifi scans and connect to another wifi network.
The problem I am facing now is that when I call WifiManager.setWifiEnabled, it disables the hotspot, and when I call WifiManager.setWifiApEnabled (via reflection), it disables the wifi.
Are there hardware limitations that prevent from doing this? What do I have to do to succeed? Is this even possible? Has someone already done something like this?
Thank you,
>>>Aylatan

I found a workaround for the scanning problem, which is to disable the hotspot just the time for the scan to complete, and re-enable it after.
Unfortunately, this cannot be done for the wifi connection, as it will require much more time to proceed.
None has ever tried something like this ?

[Q] Problems with WiFi and data connection

Hello
Sometimes when i have wifi and data enabled at the same time, my internet connection stops working.
But if i disable wifi or data i will get my connection back. Even just cycling wifi make it work for some time again.
Is anyone else experiencing this problem? Or does anyone have a solution?
I have been reading around and think it may have something to do with Internet Sharing and Interop-unlock.
i had the exact same problem, but worse. i had to switch to airplane mode and back to get internet working. and it was a very frequent and annoying problem.
for me updating to 8107 over zune was the solution. no more connection issues.
(internet sharing however i do not have anymore - but as you said, it could be related to this -so screw it i don't share my internet if it crashes mine )
This is a very common fault (there are several threads on the topic.)
Call Samsung support and ask them to get of their asses and fix the problem. I called and they said that they had no other report on that same problem..
Have the same problem, but I have to restart my phone for it to start working again. *__*

[SOLVED] wifi keeps goin to off-with screen mode

yea so recently my nexus wont keep the option to keep wifi on during sleep checked, everytime i pickup the nexus its gone back to "never" keep connected.
also, in the wifi advanced settings theres an options called "direct-wifi" it bring up peer devices,,,, is this a file sharing feature?
edit: ok "facepalm" a reboot seems to have solved the wifi-on prob., but still wondering what wifi-direct is
edit 2: found it Wi-Fi Direct
Android now supports Wi-Fi Direct for peer-to-peer (P2P) connections between Android-powered devices and other device types without a hotspot or Internet connection. The Android framework provides a set of Wi-Fi P2P APIs that allow you to discover and connect to other devices when each device supports Wi-Fi Direct, then communicate over a speedy connection across distances much longer than a Bluetooth connection.
NEW REPLY,
ok now its gone back to resetting to switch wifi off with screen off,
with this option constantly re-enabling itself will i be able to receive notifications while screen off?
FOUND ANSWER.
problem was a app called wifi-unlocker that i had given admin right to, it was for some reason shutting off my wifi with the screen off.....dont know why but uninstalled checked the box rebooted and now no issue

What is the WiFi Scan Process name?

Quick question/help. My phone wifi can not seem to be able to detect any new wifi network at all. But my already known networks from when I set up this phone in the beginning still work as long as I m at home. So I came to the conclusion that I have turned some kind of process off that have caused this problem. I use TiBu, Amplify Battery extender.
When I use other Wi-Fi apps, Wifi Fixer. I'm able to see other networks that are normally there.
So I m just wondering what is the process that takes care of this wifi scan, or this thing that allows the phone to show what it detected.

Teamviewer Remote Control Won't Connect on WiFi

Teamviewer was working well on WiFi when I was on Stock Rom. Since I have switched to different Custom Roms, it has not worked on any of them. If I am on Data, I am able to use Teamviewer, but not on WiFi. Error message says "Signed in failed. Please check your internet connection and try again." Has anyone run into this problem and found a solution? Thank for the help in advance.
Fixed:
I finally figured it out after months with this issue. I thought it was the ROM, because it would work sometimes and then it would stop working. Today I found someone who had this same issue and it turned out to be the AT&T Modem. For some reason if IPv6 is Enabled it causes some android apps not to responds or get stuck loading. Why would it affect android apps I don't know, but it does. Maybe someone here can explain why. But if anyone is having this same issue and your modem/router has IPv6 enabled, just disable it.
I tried on a different wifi and it connects. It must some settings on the router.
If you are on Talk talk, they blocked it network-wide the other day
TeamViewer fixed after LineageOS OMS 7.1.1 update. I guess it was a ROM issue. Same update fixed Firefox dark screen.

"Hi, I've had this exact problem for months and I just now discovered out how to fix it. Open your router page in a browser (ex: my AT&T router page is http://192.168.1.254) and in the settings select LAN --> IPv6. Disable IPv6, then save/apply. Turn off wifi on the android, wait a few seconds, turn wifi back on, and voila. "

WiFi tethering issue

I know this is not exactly Android head unit topic but it's closely related to using the device.
So here's what's going on. When I manually turn on wifi tethering (Hotspot) on my phone (NOA H10, 7.1.1 nougat), device (head unit) connects to it as it should, and everything works.
On the otherhand when I use tasker, or any other app to trigger wifi tethering on Bluetooth connection, the hotspot turns on but device can't connect to it. I get obtaining IP address issue, and when I set to static IP it connects for a few seconds and then drops the connection. It's really frustrating because I know it can work.
I know l can always turn the hotspot on manually when I get into the car but I want it to be automatically turned on when Bluetooth connects to my unit.
Anyone else has/had this kind of issues? Any ideas/solutions?
AFAIK most of these units don't support bluetooth tethering at all. Not really sure if any do at all.

I'm not talking about bluetooth tethering.
Ok I get it, trigger wifi on bluetooth connection with the triggering attempted on the phone side.
I have 0 experience with android phones but I know my iphone will never allow a connection (to anything) unless you open the hotspot setting manually. When I do that my units all automatically connect.

I use Macrodroid app to activate the hotspot when muy phone is conected by bluetooth, and all runs ok
I tried macrodroid. Same thing as the other apps. It turns on hotspot but can't connect to it.
So here's the SITREP, when I use connected to a bluetooth device trigger without specifying a device, the hotspot works. Only if variable, device name and/or mac address is specified the device will not connect to hotspot.
Install and use this plugin
Doesn't work. But I managed to get it work with secure settings and touch task plugins.

I'm using secure settings and touch task Tasker plugins to simulate manual hotspot toggle. When my phone connects to my headunit it triggers screen on then screen unlock to unlock the phone, then quick settings (drop down) menu and finally touch on hotspot tethering icon. Same command is executed on Bluetooth disconnected status.
