HD2 hangs! - HD2 General

Hi,
I've got and repaired HTC. because my old one had that back button problem.
Now I've got a new one. The normal 6.5 software is running OK on it without any hanging.
Then I've installed HardSPL and magldr on it. First I've had installed Windows Phone 7.5. The phone reboots sometimes (wich is normal because of the touch screen driver). But the strange thing is that it hangs sometimes before magldr(at the green HTC logo). Then I've installed an Android (rafpigna 1.8 jeahh oldtimer) rom. It was working better then WP7 but it hangs. It was working great on my old HD2.
Now I've flashed 6.5 back and it's working ok again without reboots and random hangs.
The phone isn't hot or something!
Does anyone know a fix for this?
Is it maybe because hardSPL was installed wrong?
Kevin.

I was using the newest one (2.15??) I've restored him to 6.5 and sending him back to HTC. (Again) I think there is short circuit or something...

Ok, tell me what HTC has said after your phone returns.

Did you use the new HSPL 1.56?
had the same problem with the latest ROM...
Going back to the older ROM worked fine for me...
Just curious if the new HSPL will solve the problem with the new ROM.

Same problem for me but only after I installed the screen hotfix from HTC site. was this the case with you too or have you not installed hotfix?
Just install the new HSPL and you'll be fine.
I had this problem before, until I found this:

Device stuck in loop after Rom downgrade

Hello
I have a new Diamond2 that came with wm 6.5 installed.
Well, I prefer 6.1 over 6.5 so I flashed it with a 6.1 ROM.
The flashing went well but after the device is stuck in a start-up loop, it starts up and the "HTC Diamond 2" is seen on the screen, then it shuts down and starts up again, stuck in a endless loop. Only way to stop it is to remove the battery.
What to do????

Were these official ROMs or are you HSPL'd?
Did you try a hard reset?
Yes, it´s a official ROM (1.39.413.1).
Yes, tried hard reset. Problem still there.
Getting desperate....
I'm having exactly the same problem like you do.
i bought it with WinMo 6.5 Pre-Installed and after downgrading
to the official 6.1 Rom ... The device is stuck at the same endless loop..
my only solution was to remove the battery ,hold the volume down button , re-insert the battery, this will take you to the boot screen you can just reconnect the USB cable and activate ActiveSync ( or Windows Mobile Center )
and Install the official 6.5 ROM again.... all went O.K. but still can't flash the 6.1 ROM,,, only the 6.5
Note: no Hardspl or anything

Free Beer, AWESOME
glad you sorted things out ,,,, +1
the real answer to ur problem was not having hardspl installed. you see, the chaps at HTC assume ull love 6.5 and will never need to go back to 6.1. therefore, they did not code for this situation, and when it does arise, u get stuck in the aptly named "loop".
had u installed Hardspl before installing any rom, then it would have worked flawlessly.
cheers

I have a problem after running android on my hd2. Android works successfully everything works perfect exept that when i put the phone in standby (press the red button) after that when i want to use my phone it stays blank. the backlight turns on the bottom buttons turn on, but there is no lock screen it is just blank. i have tried different ROMs (i have tried 2.3 by AmeriCanDroids, mccmjoon76 and 2.2 darkstone and a couple of others which i dont remember the names of). They all resulted in my screen going blank. I have a taskiller which helps a little, but the screen stays blank 5-10 seconds sometimes doesnt even turn on until minute or 2. On windows my

Radio version 2.15.50.14
I have tried a factory reset i have turned off auto bright from windows and android, turned off auto rotate, calibrated the g-sensors on windows but nothing seems to work can someone plz help me

Well, if you got a stock ROM installed and is still giving you issues, is better if you return the phone to HTC repair for them to repair it.
well thats the funny thing i just got it back from htc. the phone would just randomly reboot and freeze so i sent it to htc and got it back a week ago. They fixed everything. never really was able to run android in the begining to be able to tell if it just started because it would randomly reboot. But i dont know lol dont want to wait another week

As much as I love the HD2, these freezing problems just piss me off. When I get my phone back, I'm just going to sell it, and get an iPhone 4G.
How much do u think it would sell for? Btw is there any possible way u could help me with my problem.

This is my suvvestion to you. First make a back up of all of your contacts anx personal info ans stuff like pictures and stuff that are not on your SD card. Next take and download the same stock ROM you currently have. Then donload Task 29 and run it on your HD2. After you have run Task 29 you can reflash your current ROM. I also suvgezt hou use fbis method to run the Task 29 and flash the ROM to your HD2. While your HD2 is off hold the volume down button down and tap the power button but continue to hold the volume down button down until you see the multicolor bootloader screen. Next connect your HD2 to a computer via USB cable and wait for the Serial in the white bar at tbe bottom of the bootloader changes to USB and the computer recognizes the HD2. Once this is done you have a connection between the computer and the HD2 you can use to proform both actions. You will have to do this for each action though.
I have gotten a couple of suggestions to flash a different Radio. I will try that beacause some people have fixed the problem with flashing a new radio.
PS. Im running on SD card

Oh ok then I thought you meant you were using a NAND Andriod ROM. Now that you say SD I agree flash a diferent radio version. Also seeing as you must have a T-Mobile HD2 do not flash a radio version that lookes like any of these, 2.04.50.xx, 2.05.50.xx, or any 2.xx.51.xx as they mean instant dead (brick) to a T-Mobile HD2.

[Q] HD2 touchscreen not responding aftef screen lock

Hi,
i`ve got a problem with my touchscreen, after installing SD card distribution of Android, few restarts later my touchscreen stpped to respond every time when my device is locked, and i have to restart it.
I tried to flash new rom - nothing happend
H-E-L-P !
remove sd card delete the partitions and format - use Easeus free edition for this
Then boot the phone - reun task 29 from your pc then reread the flashing instructions for the rom of your choice and try again - ensure the rom supports your version og HD2 whatever that may be
All done, and doesn`t work. I`m wonderig if is possible, that is malfunction of touchscreen, because it have been changed after it was broken.
i'm having the same issue. after it goes into its first lock screen the touch screen input doesn't work. i've flashed the ROM and also task29 the sucker. i've reverted back to stock ROM too. I'm not running android or even try to install from SD.
Bump..!
Anybody got a solution for this..?
I have a HD2 with android on it.. nand version.. so it runs without sd card..
The phone works fine.. but when you lock it.. the screen doesnt respond anymore.. its running miui at the moment, so i can unlock the lockscreen.. but still the screen doesnt respond..
i see more people having this issues, so i hope to find a solution..
keep on searching..!

Sure it's hardware: replacing touchscreen is your best choice!
But is this because of android on hd2? or do other people with stock phones also see this problem?
Hd2 is already gone here.. but i think its a good thing to know for the scene..

It's a wellknown (hardware) problem for HD2, not related to software(android/wm/wp/whatever).
SO my LEO came back from service, there is a part list that they changed:
- 54h20178-00M pre-assy key, key FPC, UF-KS, w/o Reg
- 74H01549-00M Chassis Pre-assy, black, stainless steel, MLRB81
- 76H04078-00M tape, FPC connector, kapton, MLRB81
- 83H00294-01 change 83H00233-01, 83H00294-03, 62H00065-B1M Sub-assy to 82H
maybe You need do the same...
Okay, so i just bought my 6th HD2, and this one got the lockscreen problem as well. If i lock the screen using the red power button and try to wake it up with the same red power button i found out that it doesn't work. I tried everything but i think i found a sort of workaround for the touchscreen problem.
1. Lock the screen as you normally do, with the red power button.
2. Wait at least more then 6 seconds with the screen off.
3. Now push the VOLUME UP button to make the device wake up.
4. Profit!
5. If it doesn't work, go back to 1 and try again.
I found out that if it works 1 time it will work multiple times in a row.
I'm on NAND but i think it works on SD aswell.
Please post your reactions to this.

You should try to put in a freezer(in a plastic bag, without battery) for 15-20 minutes and then try to flash your wm ROM and see what happens...
ive installed android nand on it and it works until it suddenly freezes
so maybe it is an overheating problem??

It looks like that to me!
Have you tried not using the latest HTC ROM but the previous version. Could be a bug in the ROM or possibly bad blocks causing a problem. I would suggest a task 29 wipe before installing the ROM. Can be found easily in the forum. I had a similar problem that fixed it for me. On android now though.
Maybe increase the cache partition and the ROM partition to allow for possible bad blocks that can cause problems especially in nand. Usually allowing an extra 5mb on each partition should do it. If you dont know how find the hd2 toolkit as that will be the easiest way. All on the forum. Hope this helps

Putting in the original romantic should fix this.. Just sounds like the partitions are not big enough or the ROMS could have issues. When installing the original rom it should clear the whole phone and boot up fine. Might take a while on first boot.

Are you sure it was a Vodafone HD2? Does it have a red end/power button and a green call button? If it does then that is a TMOUS that does not have the T-Mobile logo on it for some reason and you have radio bricked the device. The fact that you can not boot into bootloader means you are bricked period even if it is not a TMOUS HD2. Now the only fix for your device is to have it JTAGed or a new PCB board put in the device. Now if you can not find someone locally or in your region of the worl that can JTAG your device PM me and I can refer you to someone that can and is very good at it.
i live in the netherlands si it's very hard for me to find someone that can perform a jtag
Same problem for me
I have exactly the same problem.. :crying:
Try this just for grins.
Take out the battery and MAKE SURE all of the pins on the back of the device are hitting the battery where they are supposed to and not bent or anything.
I don't see how doing a task29 and changing the SPL would brick the phone if it DID brick,it should have done it after the ROM or Radio flash.
If you did things in this order ROM -> reboot -> task29 -> reboot -> SPL, then you should still be able to access bootloader.
Not sure why you'd flash a ROM then task29 though.
Anyways, if you flashed the wrong ROM from SD then yeah, you are bricked (if that was the last thing you did) but try the battery thing.
