[Q] calendar app not linking with google maps - Galaxy Tab 7.7 General

Just moved from the ipads to the GT7.7 (GT-P6800, Android 3.2, Hong Kong) and the only problem I have is the standard calendar app does not work with google maps.
Issue: Clicking on the location in the event view of the calendar app does not load up google maps. From my research this does work on other android devices.
Is this just my GT7.7 or any one else have this issue?
Is there a way to install an different version?
Currently my workaround is to use "Business calendar" app, which does link.
As I am new I can not post a link to the code . google . com. But the title is
Issue 19527: Calendar App: Ability to click on location in Event view

Have you tried updating your tab to the latest version using Kies or OTA update?
I'm using the P6800XXLA3 ATO ROM now (tab originally Hong Kong model) and this works fine for me using the standard calendar app.

morkli: can you post a screencap or something. Where do you click to access Maps when viewing an event using the Calendar App?
(As far as I can tell, this is not a feature in the Samsung provided Calendar App that comes with the 7.7. It's a feature in the stock Google Calendar App, and of course, in Business Calendar.)

[Q] Annoying Calendar

Hi All,
When entering a new event in the agenda it's automatically affected to "my calendar" (which is not sync with google agenda ) and for each appointment I need to think about switching to my google agenda account to enable sync.
I've couldn't find any way to set my google agenda account as my default agenda, nor deleting "my calendar".
This is very annoying, so if someone can help I'll appreciate.
I use to have the HTC Hero and I didn't have this problem.
Thanks
This is fixed in the leaked 2.2 ROMs, so until you update the firmware you have to live with it unfortunately.
Thanks. How do I update the firmware ?
Check out the Development section of these forums.
However: The 2.2 update is far from finished, and I wouldn't recommend using it unless you really want to try the latest firmwares. It's beta firmware at best.
Better to wait for the official update from Samsung unless you enjoy beta testing and working around bugs.
Ok thanks anyway
Try Jorte from Market. It can let you set default calendar. It's also more powerful than the stock one.
Jorte seems to work, thanks a lot
Maybe someone can post the 2.2 calendar apk?
yes, Jorte is great! it also shows small text in the month view of your calendars inputs, very nice! Think I won't go back to stock calendar even if they fix the "my calendar" issue.
With Jorte solving the google agenda sync problem and acontact solving the contact group sync problem, all my trouble seems so far away ....

Switching Calendars

Anyone know If the G1 stock calendar would work on the Vibrant? Just had the random right of copying the .apk calendar file from the my G1 and installing it on my Vibrant. I know it will override the stock calendar I have now though. So before I do it I want to know if anyone knows if it'll work properly or not.

Seriously, the stock vibrant calendar is really bad. Worst: When you add an event, it defaults to the internal calendar that doesn't sync with Google, so if I check my calendar on my desktop, I don't see events I added with my Vibrant (unless I remember to change the calendar when creating the event).
I don't have an answer, but another quick workaround is a bookmark to the web-based touch interface for Google Calendar that supports HTML5 offline storage and background sync. I can't add links due to the spam blocker in the forum, so remove the spaces...

I also really like "Calendar Quick Add" for quickly adding calendar events.
I thought about doing that but I don't always update and do stuff with my calendar when I have service. I might give it a try in the next few days. I just need to make sure I can go back if need be.

Just download any one of the dozens of other free calendars available on the market and set it to use your Google calendar and forget the stock calendar even exists.

[Q] How do I get Google calendar info from the servers to my app?

Hi, I'm pretty new to development,
I was just wondering if any of you guys know a possible way for me to download my calendar events from the Google Calendar servers to my custom app?
it doesn't need to save anything to the servers, it just needs to download my upcoming events to my device
(ideally not requiring that it interferes with androids built in calendar)
Thanx in advanced!
(Developing in Eclipse by the way)

Click to collapse
Same here..even I need the same info..how to access calendar events and show as a feed?

You can look at the online google calendar API. That is the official answer from google. Also, there are some non standard, undocumented ways, but those are subject to change and depend on which version of Android you are running on.
This lack of an API is a huge gap IMHO.

I used Google Calendar Sync Adapter apk and was able to sync my calendar to my tablet
You can always access the calendar.db in com.android.providers.calendar. It has a bunch of tables and is locally stored.

new Google calender update issue

I I just installed the new Google calender update manually from the play store, but now I see two calender apps in my installed apps. The pre installed Google calender isn't showing up in the play store for updating.
Is there any way to reconcile this so I only have one version of the app installed, or is the previous install icon in the app list just a ghost one that can't be uninstalled?
I think you are referring to the Samsung Calendar app. It's a system app, you'd have to be rooted to remove it.
It looks identical (except the icon) to the Google app. Wonder if there's anything different?
Nice

S Planner with built-in religious observances/holidays

So I just flashed MM stock ROM to my unlocked (and rooted) N910C (my device's region is United Arab Emirates and so that's the respective ROM that I downloaded and flashed.) Because of the region, however, S Planner has Islamic holidays (and dates) built-in. Since I'm not a Muslim, I'd rather not have this feature (I quadruple checked and there is no option to disable it.) I even uninstalled S Planner and installed an S7 port of S Planner, but it still had the built-in Islamic holidays/dates.
Because of this, I assume it's a system feature and not an S Planner feature. Does anyone know where to find it in the system? I'm not a developer, so presently this seems more like a needle-in-a-haystack kind of thing that I'm not about to attempt on my own. Otherwise my next option would be to flash an N910C-based MM stock ROM, just from a different region. I've never flashed using a different region before. There are no foreseeable issues, right?
Thanks.
the holidays are probably attached to your gmail account, and can be hidden through the calendars screen(3 dot menu>calendars>holidays in ...) in S planner.
you may also be able to remove the holiday calendar through the Google calendar website.
Its not my Google account, that's for sure (I wish it were that easy.) Going to the Google calendar website shows no Islamic holidays/dates (with my Google account in S Planner, it's "Holidays in the United States" I can check or uncheck.) And unchecking everything from every account calendar in S Planner does nothing. That's what leads me to believe it's part of the system.
Ok, so I'll probably go ahead and flash a different region (as my Googling has only led me to unresolved instances of this same issue.)
Before I reflash, though, do I need to be concerned with CSC/PDA/baseband numbers? Or am I good just so long as it's an N910C firmware? Thanks.
UPDATE (for anyone with this same issue looking for a "fix"): I just finished flashing the Russian region ROM. Islamic holidays/dates are gone.
