[Q] Whatsapp on tab 7.7 - Galaxy Tab 7.7 General

Hello,
On mu iPhone 4S I've installed Whatsapp, but now I also want to have it on my galaxy tab 7.7, with on both the same number. Both are rooted/jailbroken and I found a file containing login codes in the whatsapp map on the 4S. Now I need to know, where those files are on Android, so I can also Wapp with my Tab. Its the wifi only version.
Thanks in advance,
Vincent
PS; xda dev app crashes on tab 7.7, when trying to create a new topic.

You can't have Whatsapp running on 2 devices with the same number. I tried that with 2 Android phones, did titanium backup on my original phone then copied that to the other one and did a restore but as soon as i had them both connected it crashed. got a message from whatsapp saying to only have one one device with that associated phone number.

You simply cannot connect two phones at the same time.
Whatsapp server will not allow that.
And to be clear, the login token is different across devices(even they all run android).
So you cannot just copy from one device to another.

I read something on the internet, aswell as on XDA, about someone who had an android phone, and restored a backup from it to its android tablet. Then he could switch between them, by turning off one of them. I would like to try the same. I don't care if it wouldn't work as expected, but I would just give it a try. So do you know were Android stores the credentials? If it doesnt work after copying them, I'd at least given it a try

WhatsApp is finally working on Gtab

Hi all WhatsApp users,
I am not sure if this is old news but I believe it will be helpful to some.
Previously, there's a large user base that has WhatsApp installed and not being able to sync with their contacts for their 3G+WIFI Galaxy Tab 10.1.
I have tested and verified after reading a post in another forum.
WhatsApp is working on our GTab 10.1... FINALLY~!
To download, please go to WhatsApp website and grab the copy for Android. Install and wala~!
So far my contacts seems to be in sync.
Test Case:
1. I added my mobile line number into my tab phonebook and it sync almost instant.
2. Sending a message from Gtab to the new found contact and verified working.
3. Replied using my mobile. Verified working
Hope this piece of information is useful to all.
it's working but my contacts are not sync. I have added whatsap to my accounts but nothing is happens. on my htc desire hd I installed whatsap with a new phone number and few minutes later all contacts are sync. what can I do?
Confirmed to work perfectly! Thanks op

I check in Market, it seem is version 2.6.8990 (18.10.11)
But What i download from Whatsapp website is 2.6.9918 (11.11.11)..
I will test it tonight when i get home.
EDIT :
Confirm with my P7500. Yes, it work
If you have Whatsapp installed before, 1st launched it won't sync.
Just go to "Setting" -> "More" then uncheck and check the "show all contacts"
I thought that you could not have WhatsApp running with the same phone number on more than one device??
Cheers,
M
no, in galaxy tab there is another sim card. I must confirm the new number by sms. I will try to reinstall.
edit. problem was fixed. after installing app from website, all contacts they are. at first I have installed an apk wich was titanium backup from y desire hd. I think that wasn't an good idea ;-)
gooood man thank you fffgooood man thank you fffgooood man thank you fff

Hello, I have a SGS2 and a Galaxy Tab. 10.1 p7500. I only have one sim card in the SGS2.
It's posible wathsapp whith only one sim card in the two device?. Whith contacts, of coruse.
Glad it works guys...
Cyrano4: it will work only on one device at a time as it is dependent on the SIM's activation on the device. Once you installed on a new device, the previous device that has WhatsApp installed will be deactivated.
When you try to launch WhatsApp on the previous device, it will prompt you to reinstall..

[Q] How to change the initial, 'primary' account?

My son got my first HD2. What I did not know when I installed it the first time before he got it, was the fixation of the phone to the gmail-account I used at that time and only for that purpose. Intuition has its flip side too.
My son has his own gmail account, which I was not aware of, and obviously he wants to have his HD2 running his affairs on his own account (communicate with friends etc.)
Now, he has used the HD2 extensively, installed lots of apps, also some paid ones. Purging my old (installation-) account will reset the whole device to its initial state, all accounts and licences will be lost, if he understands that warning correctly.
Is there a way to change the 'ownership' with as little damage to the contents as possible, like save all contents as a backup, start with a new account identity, and restore all contents? Or will that also inevitably overwrite the new account with the old one too?
One could call the task also a migration of an android installation to a different account. BTW, it's equipped with a 16 GB card which has lots of free space left right now (looking at the backup space needs).
I am sure this has been discussed here before, but I seem to not find the right search words. Any hints, links, advice?
Would a total backup using Titanium be advisable? Or will that restore the present status including the unwanted account again?
Thanks for your help in advance. It doesn't make things simpler that my son and his HD2 are some 1.000 miles from here, studying there. but we have skype and other paths on PCs...
Cheers,
the longkeeler.
You can always use Titanium Backup to back up the apps (the paid ones, too), make a factory reset and let him set his own account and then restore the backup.
But you can never transfer the ownership of app(s) from one account to another. (For example, by using TB backup, he can use the paid apps, but he won't be able to update them, he'd need to buy them from his own account)
I'm sorry, but that is the way Android works. (which is lame)
follow-up
Clearing the primary gmail-account and thus resetting the device did not remove just that account, which kind of surprises me. Well, I don't have the HD2 in my hands, and I just hope that my son will have made the backup I advised hin to make and store it where he can reconstruct from.
Cheers,
the longkeeler.
But at least, he would have back what was there before. The nature of the paid apps is static, there are no backups to be expected. And it was not an amount of money that would kill anyone - just throwing it away should be avoided. Now, as posted a few minutes before, he was not successful to remove the undesired account. Are there any protections built in, that follow the great old MS tradition , it's not a bug, it's a feature, if not even industry standard?
it is however possible - to some extent - to "merge" google accounts.
if you do not use your gmail acc (as i understood from your first post) you can transfer quite a bit of contacts/features and stuff to your sons account and the other way round. this way he might be able to keep the paid apps (and updates) and also communicate with his friend on the dame account.
if thats any help...
Is the phone running froyo or gingerbread? If it is on Ginger then try deleting the account from sync and accounts... that's all for froyo u will need root explorer to delete a file located in the data folder.

From accounts and sync remove the account.. I believe this only works for Ginger ..
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA Premium App
You can also do it by deleting this file With root explorer . Hope this helped.

Just use your sons email and then go to accounts and sync.turn sync off. That's basically your only hope.

First: Thanks to all for your replies!
Afaik, it's the gingerbread flavor.
I have the same type of HD2 here for myself but don't want to mess that up too much - I just saw under acc and synch that my account appears there once under mail and then under google.
If I remove either of those - does it only purge the link from my device to gmail resp. all other google-accounts, or does it remove the account as a whole from google's servers? (if so, probably only from the visible surface, but that's a different story...)
I am not sure if my son sees the same image and what he did there.
So again: Does "removing" the account on the smartphone just "divorce" it from google, or does it kill it?
Thanks again for your help!
Cheers,
The Longkeeler
Nieve, thank you so much. I am not sure yet if it will work but it sounds plausible. surprising how close to the surface such an essential database is located - like the rock that merged with the Costa Concordia... So, everybody just can hope that it will become easier in future to change the primary account rights.
A different side-question: What tool did you use to add the hints to the screen shots?
Extended thought, not necessarily useful for my son's problem, but: Would it be possible to cultivate different versions of the accounts.db, renaming them according to the desired application spectrum (like, say, change the "personality" of the phone from business to leisure)?
Reset device completely
With a clean device when the touch android screen comes up...
he signs in with his account. Establishes his acct as primary
then logs in with your acct secondly or later on in order to get access to the paid apps on your account
Only way to xhange primary is a wipe of data. The primary is simply the very first acccount entered after a device reset.
Your a great mom!

Nieve, thanks. After getting root explorer 2.15 I can see into the innards now too - on my phone here, there is the accounts.db of course, and two more entries, one called accounts.db-wal and the other accounts.db-shm. Look more like folders. What about those?

Always try to do my best, and I'll ask my wife for her opinion on this . Well, I'm just only the dad...
But your proposal sounds very reasonable and based on practice. If nieve's and your advice can be combined (purging the data base, tnen installing accs from scratch), it would be great.
accounts removed now, but no re-installation yet.

(\data\system\accounts.db) deleted - et voilĂ , after rebooting, no more accounts. So, step one done successfully. So, again, thanks for that!
Now came the next one, re-installing his own gmail account as a primary one. He could open the dialogue - but his entry was refused, 'sorry, username and pw don't match.' Bummer. He tried it several times, took care that the account was not opened anywhere else - no avail so far. The error message could well be misleading.
There must be a missing resp. hidden link.
Update: re-installing the prior "false" primary account worked immediately. So, the error message IS misleading. I guess there will be no other way than to completely re-initiate the whole system and then start with the other identiy. Unfortunately, the HD2 has to travel 2.000 miles for that, but it is the safest way then. My son has neither the experience nor the tools to do that himself there.
If somebody has yet another idea - please don't hesitate to let us know!
The application is call picsin, you can find it in the android market...about his account ask him to make sure his email and password are correct. I have change my accounts many times doing that process. He can maybe try login to his account thru the browser, just to make sure the email and password are right.

Some times, the solution comes as a surprise. Just before my son had started his trial to rearrange the accounts yesterday, he had applied for a new login scheme with google - some double-password story. This, he had not mentioned until today, an hour ago, when he received a mail from google, giving him directions on how to handle logins in a transitional phase.
You guess it: All is well now, he has his own account as the primary one, and sounds much more relaxed than before.
Oh well...
But nevertheless: Your help was absolutely substantial in achieving this, and I hope that the bitdust will settle soon... So thanks again, I can recommend you
Cheers, and a happy rest of this weekend!
The Longkeeler, now also a bit more in weekend mood/mode.
That's good to hear! And a pleasure to help.

Workarounds (OSX 10.8+ and Android)

Hello again,
I've been asking a lot of questions lately regarding my new Note 3, but up until recently have started to notice things that I am not able to do, in regards to syncing and integrating 4.3 with my OSX environment.
So what I like to try and start, is a thread that people can come to (me) and ask questions about how Android can work with the OSX apps similar to how the iPhone and OSX worked. :cyclops:
My first question is; Am I able to get S Planner to sync directly with iCal and have them push information between the two whenever one may get updated away from the home?
Thanks for any advice - and I'm sure there will be many more to come!
Or not.. ?

A quick warning up front: I've not got my Note 3 yet, so I'm not 100% sure this works with S Planner, but this should work assuming it uses the standard Android sync system and some some weird Samsung-only thing.
That said, on my Nexus 7 I'm using Marten Gajda's CalDAV-Sync to sync with iCloud (I assume that's what your Mac's syncing with) and it works fine if you set server caldav.icloud.com, use SSL and use your Apple ID username and password.
He also does CardDAV-Sync which can sync contacts from iCloud (use server contacts.icloud.com instead).
Not connected with the author, just someone who's been using the apps for several months now without problems. I'd link to the Play Store pages but I don't think I'm allowed to link in my first post
Thanks for that info! I did contact the developer regarding his app but was a bit concerned about the app permission and my login details. I've ended up just basically copying my info over to Google and deleted the info off of iCloud. Next is trying to figure out syncing notes to google keep ?

Hello again,
SInce my last post I have switched to a Nexus 5 and have been loving it ever since.
I had to RMA my current Nexus due to dead pixels and have only just come across how difficult it is to do a 'complete' backup of the device. (Similar to an iPhone) and have yet been able to figure it out.
My Nexus isn't rooted and therefore it seems it might be harder to do.
Do any ex-iPhone users have any suggestions on how they do a complete back up of their Android device?

Exchange Email Folders Proble

Will try. Thanks for taking the time to suggest solutions anyways.
Hi mate
Clearing cache didn't work. Can you tell me what permissions one should try altering and how these can be altered. Thanks
can anyone please help on this....
As I understand you are rooted so if you reboot in cwm you will find there a fix permissions. If this also don't help then I cannot think something else, my mind thinks that 1 folder with strange local letters naming maybe will cause this or a worse scenario is that it doesn't work because you are rooted(I say this because in my rooted note 10.1 no matter what I do I cannot run the s-note but if I uproot it back to stock then s-note works totally fine). I'm thinking for anything else and IL be back.
Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk 4
My school uses Office365 no problems here, I'm guessing you tried with many folders. Did you try to rename one or two and test those out?
TBH the included Exchange client on Android just never cuts it for me. I have tons of sub folders and use Notes in Outlook. I purchased Nitrodesk Touchdown for $25 and it fixes all those issues for me. I believe it's still the ONLY way to sync notes on mobile devices wirelessly to this day. It's a pricey app but if your life revolves around full exchange mobile sync it's the best money you'll spend!

Phone hacked, please assist

Issue occurred years ago on my Droid 1 and now again on my S5.
2 different problems -
1) Someone forwarded mail from my gmail sent box to other recipients. Was really bad because it was emails to my current girlfriend, sent to an ex girlfriend and vice versa. So appears as if it's targeting me. Or someone randomly trying to cause me issues. Know that I have no mail set to be forwarded AND I have 2 factor authorization set up. So I'm beyond confused as to how this could happen.
2) someone got photos off my phone (possibly they were stored on a 3rd party app), and they were sent as a direct message on IG from a random profile. The recipient told me about this and said it was photos of them they only gave me, so you can imagine the hell storm I dealt with.
So now I've been looking for an anti-virus, spyware, malware program. Used a few and they all said my towel root v2 was a suspicious app (obviously) but that it could be used to take things from my device. Also towel root v3 but said it was an exploit based program. Either way I know towel root isn't the cause.
Now I just don't know what else I could do to solve these issues. Super frustrating to feel your life is totally violated like this. Would almost prefer they just took a credit card number and bought stuff. This is worse.
Running stock lollipop, rooted on s5. Verizon. Thanks ahead of time. And my apologies if this is posted in the wrong place. I figured it's a new problem again and happened on s5, so I could post specifically here.
Just a shot in the dark but have you tried changing your Gmail password Google account password? If someone else knows it they can install any app you have downloaded and use your Gmail to forward emails ect....
My girlfriend has my Google account on her phone to use some paid apps and gets all my hangout texts and Gmails....
