How to install LiquidF-v0.2.zip??? I'll try to rename that file to update.zip and copy to my SD card then i went to recovery mode and try to update. But always failed.

malez 0.6 already released, works with froyo

No problems installing this ROM after I figured out that I needed the newest Malez. I'm also enjoying the 2.2 experience!
However, I've noticed that my battery seems to be draining faster than usual. Battery usage as reported by android is showing that the "Android System" is eating up >70% of my battery. This is happening without installing any apps.
Any ideas?

Yes, I had this as well on my stock 2.1 Rogers ROM but then I got rid of the Acer Settings and other Acer applications and Android System no longer took up a ton a the battery. Not sure, now I am on this and it happens.

no im saying its likely a misrepresented charge - that happens alot after flashing a rom
after using it for more than a week and now im back to my 2.1 rom i can say 2.2 has better battery life for sure

I have been using this ROM for over a week now. I love it! Struggling a bit with BetterCut at the moment. It won't change icons on the home screen because technically, they aren't on the home screen (Acer's new UI). I'm staying with the new UI for now (getting used to it). Haven't had any real troubles or issues with this ROM, using it for everyday. The new lock screens are nice to be able to customize. No battery issues, only had to reboot once but could not determine why yet? System totally locked up with dark screen (would not wake up).

Thanks again for another nice rom! I definitely am liking some of the new improvements with Froyo. Having flash in the browser is handy too. Battery life is better than with the 2.1 roms, though both are ok. Couple of questions:
- Do you think in a future release it might be possible to re-add the volume-control hack to move the cursor? On the liquid it's almost a necessity.
- Are there overclocked kernels we can use with this? I find it laggier than 2.1
- Is there anyway to move the notification bar back to the top/get the old bar back? I particularly hate having to click and hold on it to see if I have SMS, email, etc.
- The SMS app is quite laggy. Has anyone else noticed this? I've been avoiding deleting all my SMSs to see if this speeds it up.
- The notification bar always shows a little SMS icon with three dots on it, even if I don't have a new sms message. I'm not sure if it's supposed to be like this but it means no visual indication of new messages.
- Occasionally, the phone doesn't shut-down properly, but reboots instead, especially if the power is plugged in.
Just a little note for people, after installing this, I was unable to make a nandroid backup. After clearing the cache in the recovery console, it worked fine.
Otherwise, it's really nice, thanks! I definitely appreciate the theme as well.

Using this on my gf liquid and I can tell you its way better then stock 2.1. She was complaining so much about the phone, I got her to shut up a lil with this ROM lol. Looking forward to more updates.

Nevermind this post

Deleting all of my SMSs fixed the sms slowness, and the weird notification icon stuff. I miss Eclair sometimes but mostly because of the volume button hack and the robot that eats donuts when you boot
I definitely prefer the Froyo rom for calls! Regardless of the proximity sensor, I still hung up on people with my cheek a lot with eclair and sometimes I couldn't get the screen to turn back on. Not an issue at all in Froyo.

Is there also a 0.007.00 CUS2 bin available somewhere? Now i don't seem to able getting this ROM to work with malez recovery nore can i install that specific BIN version.
Anyone?

So i also found out that i can forget the CUS2 bin story. That's only when using official acer updates. With the ACER Download Tool [Single] i've now managed to install the leaked alpha version of froyo!

Has anyone had this issue? Occasionally - like once a day, it just reboots, but not the regular reboot, a fairly fast reboot. I haven't been able to catch what is going on, but every once in a while, I look at the phone and see the boot splash screen.

No to be honest, I have been using this ROM almost exclusively since it was published in September. I have an original Acer S100 (white one) with the smaller RAM. This ROM has been a rock solid performer for me. I like it better than the other leaks, at least for what I do with it.

some issues that are bugging me...need your input

hey guys. i'm a very nitpicky person and there has been a few "issues" that have been ticking at me lately. i wanted to ask to see if it's an issue with my rom (OMJ v3.1 odex) or just general issues with the phone that I have to live with.
1) for a 1ghz phone, it takes FOREVER to load. i'm usually anywhere from 15 to 45 seconds on the splash screen, after which the boot animation plays and maybe 10-15 seconds after the animation ends the phone starts to load....but it goes into the lock screen, and i have to unlock it, and then a million things start opening up, so that from screen off to fully loaded and ready to make a phone call the phone takes at least 1 minute, sometimes close to 2 minutes.
EDIT: just timed it - 45 seconds on splash screen, 25 seconds from end of boot animation to lock screen
i'm coming from a 667mhz WM6.1 phone that would boot, animation and all, be ready to call in 30 seconds or less.
i can live with the time it takes to load if it was normal...but then I hear things on here on how the evo loads in 8 seconds and i'm looking at mine and wondering what's wrong
is this a rom issue (OMJ v3.1 odex), kernel issue (king's #6), android (2.2), phone in general, or a result of all the different things we install on our phones (adblockers, superuser, custom flash, custom boot, etc)?
2) when the phone loads it always opens the dialer. i go back into home screen. throughout the day at least once or twice the dialer will randomly open on its own when i unlock my screen.
3) wi-fi at home is secured through wep2...but at school is unsecured to connect, but then you need to authenticate through the browser. sometimes this works, sometimes the browser (dolphin hd) just stays loading and doesnt take me to the authetication page...and the only way around is it to disable and enable wifi again. then everything is perfect.
is this a rom issue? or a dolphin hd issue?
4) I have LauncherProPlus with their custom icons from the website. whenever i restart the phone the icons for Dolphin HD, Documents to Go, MixZing and Pandora change to their standard icons. i have to restart launcherpro and they go to the matching icons i have throughout the homescreens. then at random points those three icons revert back to the stock icons, and i have to restart launcher pro.
is this a LP problem, a rom problem, or a me-specific problem?
5) perhaps the most important issue - i have problems downloading and installing certain apps in the market. I paid for lcd density changer and installed it. uninstalled it later on. now i'm trying to reinstall and I keep getting an installation unsuccesful message...same thing goes for Rom Manager (which i have installed, but installation unsuccessful with update), and many others. Some programs will update, some wont. Today I tried to download 3d gallery through the market and keep getting that issue.
this has happened with other programs in the past, where I thought maybe they werent meant for the EVO...but many of those had comments from EVO users??? and now some of those programs that wont install are programs I HAD or I HAVE installed!!!
is this a rom specific issue? or a market issue? or an odex issue? or does it have anything to do with having app2sd and move2sd enabler on the phone? none of the programs in question have been moved to the sd card...obviously not the ones like 3d gallery that I haven't yet installed.
so, thank you for reading through all that. any help in either of the issues will be greatly appreciated.
if most of the issues are rom-related i will go hunting for a new, stable rom. if they're general woes that come with owning the Evo then I guess i need to know that too.

I can't really help you much in terms of a solution, but coming from a Blackberry the EVO boot time seems very fast! However, the EVO is definitely not an 8 second loader, I don't know where you got that information.

This is just a guess, but I'd say it's the ROM you're using. Have you tried anything else? Make a nandroid backup of your phone now, then flash another ROM and test it out, it's easy to revert with the nandroid backup. Keep in mind the first time you load any newly flashed ROM it will take longer than normal to boot.
In my experience, stock 2.2 and all its OTA updates (and the ROM I use that is based on the latest OTA) are pretty good when it comes to boot times. Anything you install may have the potential to slow things down.
I'm currently using the VaelPak 2.2 ROM with the latest HTC kernel (no 30FPS limitation) which is very stable and very fast. VaelPak stripped out some of sense (not all) and I love how you have the choice between HTC/Sense elements or AOSP. For example, I actually like the HTC dialer, messaging, and contacts.

Are all of those apps saved on your SD Card? I wonder if that has anything to do with it.

yes all four apps are in the sd card. i was using pandora and plugged the phone in to my pc to try to install that 3dgallerym.apk i found on here. pandora stopped (i'm assuming as the sd card was unmounted). after unplugging and the card was remounted i was able to open pandora again...but then the 4 icons had reverted again.
i'm starting to think that is a lp issue. i'll send a message to the developer see what he says about it.

The boot up taking so long is do to custom roms being deodexed.. It puts the odex file into the apks so that you can theme a rom without any problems. Stock roms arent deodexed so they boot up a lot faster. Its the only downside to deodexing a rom.
Also you should try to start fresh.. wipe data and dalvik and reboot. Then see if you have a problems with downloading and stuff. It might be cache left on the phone messing it up. If a clean data/dalvik wipe doesnt fix your problems then its most likely the rom or user error. Try a different rom for couple weeks and see if you come across the same problems.

My rom is odexed...

Swyped from an HTC Evo on MetroPCS...

First off, are you running a task killer or manager? If so, uninstall and reboot. A lot of the time this is the source of problems. Android manages its own tasks quite well. I can go into a lot more details if you'd like about why you shouldn't use one.
If not using a task killer or that did not help....
I say try Fresh ROM or Myn's Warm. Fresh is very stable. I think you may have a corrupt download of the ROM. However, since you are using LP you don't seem like a Sense UI person so CM6 may be your option. However, it does not have 4G nor HDMI. Personally, I love Fresh ROM. The dev came from the Hero like me and has a very very good track record for being stable and fixing things. And he is a cool guy.
Install one of those and then post back if you still have problems. I think this will fix it.
BTW did you flash from another ROM and use a backup app to restore? This can cause problems with ROMs that have different settings and options.
As for boot times, like the earlier guy said deodexed ROMs do extra stuff while booting. Also, lots of apps can cause slow boots because they start up on boot. You can use an app to disable them.
And last, app not installing. Hit menu-settings-applications-manage applications. Hit the SD tab and see if those apps show up. If so, click on them and uninstall. This will most like fix that issue.

i've been on the evo for a little over a month now getting into it hard...i've learned too much too quickly...but yeah i definitely see the "like computers" temperamental issues at times.

not using any task manager. used to have advanced task killer but someone else recommended uninstalling it before.

im considering CM6 because i barely use any sense apps. mainly flashlight, clock and htc lockscreen. i'm on metropcs so i cant use 4G and i dont have a HDTV so no need for HDMI

well the problem is 1) if the app is in my sd card, i dont need to uninstall it, just move it to the phone and then i can update it. but i have over 100 apps installed, it is not practical to do this for every update for every app! 2)some apps, like LCD Density Changer, which I paid and had installed before, wont install at all and i dont have it installed...so what there?

The OP's sig says he has his EVO on MetroPCS; if that's the case then lack of 4G shouldn't be a concern.
That's the only real thing keeping me from trying CM6, even though there are only a few pockets of 4G coverage where I live.

Well I switched roms to ava v9 and some of the issues seem to have gone away...but still having problems installing apps from market...many if the apps and games I had before on my previous rom give an installation unsuccessful message...
Im thinking it may be something I damaged by installing htc and sprint apps right after flashing the rom...I'm going to restore all those files and see what happens...

Blackhole 4.x to SuperClean 2.x observations

Awesome ROM - thanks for sharing your work!
I flashed the standalone 4.0 followed by the 4.01 update. Now I'm grabbing extras a bit at a time. Some observations/questions:
1. When I boot/reboot, I let the phone settle in (read SD,etc). I unlock, but then Launcher Pro is completely unresponsive. I must long press home button & use task mgr to kill it. When it comes back, all is good until next reboot.
2. I restored downloaded apps using Titanium. Market is not recognizing any as installed. First time I've gone this route. Expected?
3. I can't back out of Contacts; gotta use Home button.
4. Recently edited Memos don't come to the top of the list. Can that be reverted to the 2.1 behavior?
Small stuff in view of super clean, super cool ROM.

Here in the General section, it's either remained below the radar or been ignored. Can a mod or admin tell me if there was a more appropriate place for my post? Trying a backup initiated through ROM Manager resulted in badness, so I repeated the steps for CWM (using Odin). BTW, I had to boot the phone once without the SD card to move past being stuck at the Samsung logo. I then rebooted into CWM (red) and did a backup.
Then I followed SoS's instructions and installed the standalone 4.2:

As long as I was just working within CWM, I was fine. ROM Manager is totally hosed. It really can only be used now to browse the ala carte options. Trying to install through it results in being stuck at the Samsung logo. 3-fingered booting from powered off doesn't even work. Repeat the CWM fix (using Odin) and boot once without the SD card.
To get around ROM Manager Madness, I use it to pick the options I want, then cancel the final step, reboot into recovery from a long press of the power button and use CWM to install the individual zips. Fine.
The original oddities in Blackhole 4.x are still present on my device. The two that are most bothersome: [1] I can't back out of contacts [2] Launcher Pro is unresponsive after booting.

For the contacts issue, create a new link to contacts from the app drawer and use the new one to replace the existing.

clock lag persists
Initially I thought that the clock lag I was experiencing in 4.01 was gone in 4.2. Nope, it remains. As others have said, seems to be related to enabling Wi-fi.
I'll go check the threads for updates but, last I checked, a double reboot was the suggested fix. I'm not clear whether people were suggesting that to be some sort of permanent fix. It didn't seem to be for me.
The time would correct after the first reboot and I would reboot again to comply with the posts, but I <think> the problem would return under 4.01. Now under 4.2, I'm sure. Last night, I double-rebooted and this morning the clock was 20 minutes slow.
Like I said, I'll go looking for updates now. Could be that this has already been resolved for real.

voice recorder, car home
Just adding a couple more oddities to the current list: voice recorder force closes and car home doesn't come up automatically when you plug in to the car cradle.
Reloading the voice recorder zip through CWM was about the only tactic I tried with no luck. Then I wanted to grab something for the ROM over-the-air, but the site was down. Checked in here and saw there was a problem with the host. That interruption of being able to download pieces parts OTA was kind of the proverbial straw, so I'm trying a SuperClean.
Pushed it through Odin and the process was smooth. The ROM looks good. None of the same oddities except the clock lag. I'm changing the sleep state of Wi-fi to see if that makes a difference.
SonofSkywalker does amazing work and I'm sure I'll be trying his ROMs again. For now, though, something different.

as per a forum suggestion, I changed the Wi-fi sleep setting. So far, it seems to prevent clock lag.
Home Screen | Menu | Settings | Wireless & Network | Wi-Fi settings | Advanced | Wi-Fi sleep policy -> select 'When screen turns off'.
Does anyone know if this has been an issue in the VZW full stock 2.2?

battery life is better
Under Super Clean 2.6, launching Google Maps and exiting has released the wake lock and battery life is much better.
Does a user guide, sticky or FAQ exist for Spare Parts? I could see that "other | running" was 100%, but I wasn't sure how to zero in on what was causing it other than trial and error based on other users' posts.

unread email count
A quick search of the forums didn't turn up much discussion, so I'll throw this out there:
on DL30 leak, the general email icon would increment and not decrement or clear until mail was manipulated on the phone. In other words, if it said 3 unread messages and I used Outlook (or the mail provider's web mail) to deal with them, it would sync and accurately display the message state in the list of emails - but the email icon on the home screen would still show 3. If 3 more came in and again they were dealt with elsewhere, the icon would go to 6. Only if action was taken on the phone itself would the counter "get real".
On Blackhole 4.x and SuperClean 2.x (any custom EB01 ROM?), the email icon on the home screen doesn't show an unread count (fine by me, I don't miss it), but when you pull down the notification bar, the unread count there acts exactly the same way.
Anyone else experiencing this? Devs, can it be fixed?

Did you clear your cache and davlik? I had some issues(when I closed an app none of my apps would show up and overall everything was running really slow). However when I was on superclean 2.6 I cleared my cache and davlik(for the first time) before I upgraded to superclean 2.8 and overall everything is working no problems.

About the NEXUS MV ICS ROM and GLaDOS Kernel...

Since I'm not yet able to post directly into the main thread, I'll post some opinions and experiences here.

Current setup:
ROM: NEXUS MV 2.12.25
Kernel: GLaDOS 2.5 CFS - 3.0.8
So far, great ROM at all.
No reboots, no crashing apps...
But there are some things a bit annoying:
- On the NSTools, the "backlight dimmer" function only disables the capacitive buttons after the selected time, doesn't change anything in the display (I really don't know if it's a bug or not);
- Most of the times (not always) when I press the button to lock screen, after the animation the screen "flashes" and only after that I hear the "click" sound, but I think it's more a kernel issue than a ROM issue;
- The Assasin's Creed Revelations Game doesn't load the Main Menu completely, only the title appears and I can't select anything. I've reinstalled it and the problem still occurs, but I don't know if it's a ROM problem or some crazy incompatibility.
And also I'd like to send my suggestions:
- I've used another ROM (wich I really don't remember exactly what was) with a launcher where there was an option to prevent the apps menu to slide into the widgets, it would be nice to have it here too... (don't know if it can be implemented on ROM or only on the Launcher)
- I miss an option to enable/disable 3G data connection on the top menu of the slider, like CM7.
I can't think on any other thing to add for now...

I've noticed some serious problems after updated to NovaLauncher beta 7. Whatsapp hangs many times during use and system says "low RAM" when I try to send pictures via whatsapp.
I've changed back to beta 5 and still had some hangs and crashes.
I really don't know what's the relation between Nova Launcher and Whatsapp, but I'll try the new GLaDOS v.2.8 to see if I have any changes.

To get the original framework-res file from your Rom back just extract the framework-res.apk file from the original rom zip and replace the one in my uploaded package!

I've tried it with various versions of GLaDOS kernel and MV ROMs and it doesn't work, my phone hangs at initialization and keep on an infinite loop.
Also doesn't work with AOSP+ ROM, same infinite loop...

So far, great ROM at all.
No reboots, no crashing apps...
But there are some things a bit annoying:
- On the NSTools, the "backlight dimmer" function only disables the capacitive buttons after the selected time, doesn't change anything in the display (I really don't know if it's a bug or not);
This is the intended functionality, to turn off the capacitive buttons LEDs off, not the backlight/SAMOLED for the whole display
- Most of the times (not always) when I press the button to lock screen, after the animation the screen "flashes" and only after that I hear the "click" sound, but I think it's more a kernel issue than a ROM issue;
Common problem with the brief flash while locking, most people have it and i'd imagine some a bit worse than others. The click and similar sounds on my Nexus S have always lagged to some extent, nothing has changed for me (though i turn all of this off anyway).
- The Assasin's Creed Revelations Game doesn't load the Main Menu completely, only the title appears and I can't select anything. I've reinstalled it and the problem still occurs, but I don't know if it's a ROM problem or some crazy incompatibility.
Lots of apps are still not updated (or won't be updated) for ICS, something which we may have little to no control over. This sounds like one such issue.
And also I'd like to send my suggestions:
- I've used another ROM (wich I really don't remember exactly what was) with a launcher where there was an option to prevent the apps menu to slide into the widgets, it would be nice to have it here too... (don't know if it can be implemented on ROM or only on the Launcher)
Pretty sure some launcher replacement apps can do that, and roms like CM9 alpha probably offer this.
- I miss an option to enable/disable 3G data connection on the top menu of the slider, like CM7.
Extended Controls and Widgetsoid provide this functionality in nearly the same way as CM7/CM9
I can't think on any other thing to add for now...
The ROM is really fast and stable, thumbs up to MarkVis

Guess those ROMs have some modifications which break that stock framework file, the same one works perfectly on my stock ICS. I'm sure the updated file will be added into some ROMs as standard soon.

Yeah, I've noticed some things of your answer after a good time reading... hehehe
And at some part of the main threads (need to search again), somebody posted about how to end the screen flash after pressing the lock button, I've just didn't tested yet.
But thanks for the reply, I keep reading the threads and testing almost every new ROMs released to see if the deep idle correction is already implemented or not hehehe

That's just a bluetooth fix though, if you turn bluetooth off deepidle should work perfectly fine. This would only really be a problem for you if you use a bluetooth earpiece, headset or car loudspeaker.

I always keep bluetooth and gps disabled unless I need them, but even this way I only got the TOP=ON deep idle, not TOP=OFF.
That's why I was trying that fix
I'm starting to think that's the GTalk's camera thing...

Bugs with The Express ROM

I have some bugs for the Express Rom, maybe someone can shoot it to one of the guys, since I cant post in the dev group.
In landscape mode, click (touch) on the "people" widget and the mail widget will open, if you have a widget next to the "messages" widget, touching the messages widget will go to the app next to it.
Also in Landscape mode looking at the People Favorites/4G widget, the 4G widgets need to be re-sized, as the white blocks are covering the people favorite apps (top left corner)
In "all apps", touch menu button popup you will see weather options, touch snowball and you get a FC

ok well those things are minor but thought I would post them

First, I would like to post this in the dev thread but like the OP I am in "10 post purgatory". I am enjoying the ROM - it is the 4th or 5th that I have flashed on the EVO and hands down the best.
I was a little scary waiting for the install to finish 30-35 minutes but patience is a virtue in this case.......
I am running the Express ROM 3.6.1 and had a couple of issues:
The HTC bookmarks uninstall/install issue I fixed by installing the apk posted in the dev thread with root explorer into the data/app_s folder and then changing the permissions to match the rest of the widgets in that folder. re-booted and re-installed the widget - worked perfectly.
The lockscreen apps/weather bug is still a problem for me - even after wiping 3 times, using the wipe.zip, and re-flashing. Tried various wipes and re-flashes and nothing worked, yes I followed the instructions posted in the dev thread for Personalize, Rosie, then Short Cut Lockscreen, then back button and power off, power on - waiting for the RC to fix this.
Have also had issues with ending calls that are answered from the lockscreen or originated in voicemail.
Also, haven't seen anyone else complain of this but the voicemail icon doesn't display the counter with un-viewed voicemails. The mail and messenger icons do have the counters however. Has anyone else seen/fixed this one?
I would love to see some options for modding the clock on the lockscreen - even if it just to change the color.
Edit: forgot to mention I installed the calculator widget on one of the home screens and it centers on the screen. After re-booting it moved to the upper right corner of the screen, uninstalled and re-installed and it goes back to the correct position - odd.
All in all, a great ROM - many thanks to the developers for all the work and the support going on over in the development section.

The express rom is a great rom but just like many of the roms out there it is a WIP and the devs know that there all glitches and they are working their buts off to get us amazing roms because the evos developers just take care of us so much better then so many other phones and we are really thankful for them. But since they are still working on it we just need to give them time to work all the bugs out and when it is all done we will have one heck of a rom! We just have to be patient but that is the least we can do for out devs

As far as touching a widget and having the app next to it open up, that's what the OP for the rom is referring to when he says 'much resizing needs to be done'. I believe it's because of the resolution differences. Editing M10s is apparently very frustrating and time consuming, as this ROM (or variations of it) has been being worked on for roughly a year , since The_Platypus started it. (There was also someone involved at the very beginning, but I forget who)

sac23 ported the Flyer originally, I believe, and then justinswidebody was the first one who tried the Express (after my incessant begging, lol). The platty jumped on, if I recall correctly.

only bug ive seen is the linking people together from my other accs ie facebook twitter tango..... btw dont get the themed one they suck because its someone elses style...so get 3.6.0 and run it with the anthrax og evo4g kernel...ftw

after 2 weeks on the ROM....
The install has started to become somewhat unstable - I am getting random FC's and screen lockups that require me to remove the battery and reboot. After it was first installed, it ran very smoothly except for the known bugs..
At some point I will probably go thru the wipe procedure and re-install to see if it happens again.
I did notice one other issue (probably a re-sizing issue) with the calculator widget. The display truncates in the portrait mode. It displays correctly in horizontal mode, but then the keyboard has the problem of when you push the far left or far right keys, it rotates the display to the next home screen......

one more thing.....
I guess I should re-iterate what I said in post 2 that I love this ROM (3.6.1 themed) and appreciate all the work going on in dev forum. I am just posting these notes because I know that work is ongoing on the RC release and I hope someone will stumble over here and see them.
So here is another observation - The Bluetooth link to the hands free system (Argos) in my MBZ has been acting strange for the last week. It always pairs reliably when I get in the car but it sometimes will not transfer the audio to the vehicle's system (even though the phone and the car both say they are connected. Lately, I have had to manually cycle the Bluetooth off and then back on to get it to work. I have run a few other custom ROMs and not experienced this. For sometime pryor to installing this ROM I was running the Kinged Shooter and then the rooted stock 4.53......
The Argos is Bluetooth 1.2 - not sure if that matters though.
