[Q] Insane battery drain? - Xperia Arc General

Hello there!
I recently switched from a Neo (with 4.0.2.A.0.62) to an Arc S with the exact same firmware. Both had about the same amount of apps installed.
I am very unhappy with the battery drain on my Arc S. It is ENORMOUS compared to my Neo... Even with heavy use and a lot of music listening my battery would easily last a day. With my Arc S the battery drains extremely fast, even while just listening to music.
Do these amounts look normal to you guys? This is just while listening to music directly after a reboot, WiFi disabled, HSPA only (full sync).
At the time of the screenshots it was at 56%.

Looks to me like you are in a Realy bad signal area. that wont be helping.
Iridaki has made a tutorial to find out what is using battery. and to diagnose apps that are causing drain ect.
get it here.
also in future Q's go in Q&A not general (Who would have known )

WCDMA + Data enabled + Listening to music + Weak signal = Battery drain
Are you completely stock?

Well yes and no. Low signal has a huge affect especially with data. As the phone had to try so hard to maintain the link.
There are SO many factors to take in
Be sure to read iridaki's guide to make sure that nothing out of the ordinary is draining your batt.
I am runing a heavily modified stock. All my own mods using our TEAM sources ECT.

Running siyah kernel with cricklerom
Fantastic
show me your screen on time pls. i can do that with stock battery too with low use. 37% doesnt look like you touched your phone much..
that's pretty bad. I can go as long as 3 days with stock battery
That is indeed easily done with a stock battery and stock Samsung or CM7 rom and with moderate use.
Would help if you actually used your phone, anyone can get double that on standby on a normal battery
Besides, shouldn't this topic been placed in the Accessories sub-forums?
blimey and i thought that was good. Onoly get aboout 24hrs with the stock battery....ok i'll crawl back into my hole....

You don't have to do that but people here are much more interested in how much life you get with heavy (screen on) usage, me included. How much was it, if you dont mind me asking?
im not a heavey user, but with medium useage, 15+ downloads, surfing the net on and off through out the day, emails through out the day, f/b updating and numerous texting and a few calls.....i suppose for my normal use on stock battery i got just over 24hrs use so the extra 300Mah is more than welcome. Plus i can slip the original stock battery in my pocket when i go out just incase i need extra umph. Oh well im happy with it...please move to accessories if i have posted in wrong forum..infact MODS if you want to delete this thread then please be my guest....
OK... realistically though, screen on time is the real indicator, along with usage patterns (were you web browsing, gaming? what games? how bright was the screen etc). Screen on time can be found out by Settings > About Phone > Battery Usage > Display = Time on (just in case you weren't aware).
How much did the battery cost?
Oh... and what theme are you using (I'm liking those icons at the top).
besides the screen on time you should also consider the data volume transfered via radio, that kills my battery even faster than the screen although i'm living in a big city with solid coverage...
There is already a big thread on the OEM 2000mah battery.

Hahaha, your signature made me laugh, thx

Which is the best kernel + rom for battery?

Is there the best? Now i have Clemsyn1.4 + neutrino and i have problem that the Phone doesnt go to sleep mode so i have about 0.5% drain every hour in standby

0.5% for every hour is actually really good. When you think about it, that amounts to about 200 hours, which is over 8 days. I don't think it gets better than that.
Don't be fooled by manufacturer specs that claim ridiculous amounts of standby time because that is under very specific conditions. For example, "Airplane Mode", no apps installed, and zero(0) screen time.
EDIT: I just noticed you have it on Airplane mode. Do you have anything installed that could keep it awake? Such as a third party launcher or lock screen?

That really isn't bad at all... why don't you use the phone normally, start from a full charge and when it gets to 5% check your battery stats again.
I haven't seen an Atrix rom yet on which the phone goes to sleep properly.
But to be fair, it doesn't influence battery life all that much.
And yes, 0.5% per hour drain is about the best you can get with this phone.
Have you had any problems with that rom? Now that I see your stats, I think I might switch to it.
How do you know it dont go to deep sleep mode? Install CPU Spy, and it will tell how many hours the phone stays in each cpu state...
Im on gingermod and my phone drains like 5-7% in like 8 hours if its only in standby, without data/wifi on, but keeping phone signal on.
Atrix 4g
I'm running WETDREAM 1. 3.0 and FAUX 1.3ghz kernel. No wifi, no gps, average widgets active, active twitter, active google plus, 3 gmail accounts and constantly playing shadow8-gun....i average 8-10 hrs with medium to harsh usage.
Neutrino has to be one of the best ROM's I've ever experienced. It's well maintained and has a host of performance improvements. I've had some of the best battery life out of this rom.
The ICS alpha is going well but its a long way away from matching the maturity of Neutrino. The battery life right now is not great due to a "bluesleep" issue but its currently being looked at.
Whichever rom you choose, make sure you calibrate your battery after flashing!

Music battery drain .

Hi
I've posted this before but didn't have good screen shot.
This is with only 1.5 odd hours of music consider im @ 11 %.
that's 19+10 % battery drain by music player alone which is roughly about 25 % of battery drain for not even 2 hours of music which is just stupid imo , because on my galaxy nexus and older xperia mini 2 hours music was never more than 5 to 7 % battery drain i mean just music screen off nothing else with ear phones .
Doesnt anyone know the reason why nexus 4 has such high battery drain playing music ? and is there any fix?
Thanks in advance
PS : im not saying i have bad battery life at all i have 4 hours screen on time on mobile data in that screen shot i just think close to 25 % for less than 2 hours music player is complete BS .

4 hours on screen time. Hot dam that's good even with 2 hours of music playing.

The battery drop almost 3% in 10-15 minutes by using Bluetooth headset (no screen on).

*bump* anyone ?
Yes, known issue. Lots of people are reporting it. Keep your fingers crossed it's fixed in the next version.
In past versions of android it could be caused by a corrupt media file that the media scanner is stuck on. That's hard to diagnose because you might not be able to tell which file it is.
However, you probably have the same issue that most possible are having.

which gs4 to get

so i just lost my s4 mini frustrating i know but any way
i have got some money on me and i actually owned a i9505 before
long story short here is my question i didnot like the overheating and the battery drain on the i9505
so i wanna know which version to get i9500 , i9505, i9506
i dont care about performance since they are really near in that field
i dont care about lte since my country doesnot have it
all i care about is the dev community , good battery life , and no OVERHEATING with regular usage
note* if any body knows a better phone than the s4 in the same price rannge i would be glad to hear it
Get an i9505.. All devs have this device

well back in the time i had the i9505 the deb community was really slow so are u sure
As having both, i9505 and i9506 I have to say take i9506 now, just because @arter97 made fully working CM 11 port from Note 3 to it, and he also port many other Rom's and really good kernel and governor.
If you want all possible different roms working then take i9505, but for speed and long lasting battery consider i9506.
My i9506 LTE-A running on CM/arter97 kernel:

so is the battery life all that better ?
and what about the over heating
Decent battery drain, there was Bluetooth on 7-8h connected to car, over 1h speaking thru that Bluetooth, lot of surfing.
No any kind overheating, just keeps going like small Duracell bunny.

What rom and kernel are you using
Sent from my SAMSUNG-GT-I9505 using Tapatalk 2
Stock 2600mAh battery, gt-i9506(LTE-A), running on arter97 note 3 port of Cyanogenmod 11 with arter97 kernel 3.1 using arteractive governor.
ThyrusHOLO dark theme and bit more/better trigger points on automatic brightness levels.
Couch day:
Spoiler
Now when posting there is bit over 7h SOT.
mine is 9505 and i'm very pleased with its stability.

Screen on time

It's amazing how much we actually use our phones in a given day, especially when we watch "videos"! Rate this thread to express how many hours of screen-on time you can get on the Sony Xperia XZ2 before depleting the battery.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
We have a winner here! [emoji471]

How??? My maximum sot is at 9 hr, though.
A lot of useless apps disabled (and removed with adb shell)
No sh*tty Swiftkey keyboard (i use the Sony)
Disabled a lot of background data and activity of apps that I don't need real time sync (games, social apps, store apps, tools)
It's not a magical stuff but makes difference.

Could easily reach 10-11h on the last 15%
Just got 10h yesterday.
seriously this phone have amazing battery life, i got sot 7-8h very easy and still remaining 15%
Not that lucky
I have not had the same luck as you guys. Seems my phone gets really hot and battery life has not been the optimal experience for me. :crying:
I get around 6 SOT. Reasonably happy with that, especially compared to the XZ, which is what I was using before the XZ2.
Here are my stats. Are these normal?

something is draining your battery, take an hour and go through all the apps and disable/uninstall those you don't need or use
Turn off background data etc again for all the apps that don't need it
Check permissions of your apps be smart about what they allow
Fitness apps might be running stuff you don't even know about
Your phone running hot would suggest to me that you have a rogue app that is very active in the background doing stuff you are not aware of - possibly malware
My battery is getting worst now and I just got sot 5hours
Anyone every try to replace the battery here ?
