I would like to set the LED to constantly glow, when I missed an SMS via handcent SMS. Is there a way to to do this?
Changing the blinking rate in Handcent doesn't work, it's still blinking slowly.

I have installed Cyanogen 5.0.6 ROM on my N1 and everything is working properly. However, I miss the stock Notification light(top right next to the ear piece) alerts. I don't want my trackball to blink for my emails. I get 500-600 emails every day & LED is too bight for me and blinks all day/night. Is there anyway I can disable LED notification & use only stock for emails? I tried to go back to stock 2.1 FW with clean wipe, unfortunately I can't get the stock notification light to work. LED still blinks instead of the notification light. It glows only while charging - Orange while charging & green once the charge is complete.
Any ideas on how to get that back?

The top right light is only there to show charging of the phone.
It'll be orange when the phone is charging and green when it is fully charged (but still plugged in).
It's not meant to be for email/missed call/sms alerts, that's what the LED is for.

I remember that light was blinking for emails before the mod. I am using Nitrodesk touchdown app for my corporate emails. May be this app used the notification light not the gmail app?

It flashes (white i think) when I get a sms or gmail.
Does nothing when i have a missed call - seems strange.
Anything else it should do? Thought it was a multicoloured LED, and assumed it may be customisable.
Would prefer a more regular pulse or constant on too, unless it drains battery loads.

you can customize the led light to behave how you want. simply use light flow lite app.
I'have set the Settings/Device/LED/Notification to on.
Now when a SMS inbox, the led starts to blink in green and never stops no matter if I read the message or not.. I don't know how to handle this.
Unfortunately Lightflow has major issues with talkbac, so I don't use it.

Myself like many others have started using the BBM service on our Nexus 4's. So far I have no complaints, it's been working great and I am enjoying the app/service.
One issue I have noticed, and I am not sure how to fix, is the notification LED. In the app settings I chose an LED colour and turned the notifications on. So I would assume that I would receive an LED blinking notification when I get a message in BBM. For some reason though it isn't working for me. My phone will vibrate and I will get a notification in my drop down menu, but the LED doesn't flash to alert me.
I am running Light Flow Lite, I don't know if this would have something to do with it though? A friend of mine is also using BBM and Light Flow lite on her S3 and the LED light works fine for BBM incoming notifications.
Any ideas on what I could do to try and fix the issue? Thanks.
Have you tried disabling the notifications on BBM settings? Perhaps enabling the Light Flow and BBM notifications both on interferes with each other.

I haven't tried that, but BBM isn't an option for me in Light Flow since I am using the Lite version. I only have access to a limited number of apps to specify LED colour with Light Flow lite. So right now I don't have BBM under Light Flow, but do have notification LED turned on in BBM app.

I've found that Light Flow has conflit with whatsapp led light (it won't show the whatsapp led), LM working great.
The notification LED light at the right corner of the screen only works when the phone is charging. I tried turning on notification light for some apps but it still wont blink or light up when the screen is off if I have a notification. Does anybody know how to fic this?
It seems like notification LED only works for SMS messages and missed calls on this phone under MIUI.

You have to enable it in settings. It runs ok for all apps.
