Weird Screen Issue - Galaxy S I9000 General

So here is the basic situation:
My friend and me bought a same i9000 from the same company at almost the same time. It's Telenor-Hungary.
We have been using it for over a year and I discovered an issue with the screens just yesterday.
I'll provide some screenshots:

}
as you see the only difference in the two screenshots is that I use 182 dpi and he uses 240.
But when we look at the phones with our eyes its not the same.
Mine , the lover dpi one is faded and greenish its blue is not really pure.
we tried to take photos of the difference:
so you can see the left one is more greenish and it's like missing some light blue or something i cant define. The best way to say it his phone has deeper colors.
also we discovered another difference
this is the 240 dpi (right one) with the better colors
and thiis is mine the sh*t greenish colored
you can notice the sim tray and the micro sd tray is different colored.
any idea why my screen is different than his?
By the way we use the same rom/kernel : teamhacksung b14 and devils latest with led2
thank you please just take a loook

Oled screens get worn out after time, especially the blue color is going to wear out fast. It could be that one of you two uses his phone more intense than the other...

Thats true mate!
I use 20 times more than him

This has nothing to do with usage.
It's just a difference in ur hardware. many users here on xda have this problem including me.
My girlfriends phone has so nice and deep colours but my phone just looks yellowish and wasted.
I installed chainfire3D and use nightmode to adjust colours manually which brought a really nice result and I also use voodoo color for adjusting gamma values.
This brought me a whole new display and now it looks like this of my gf. Feel free and try it.
and to your sim tray and sd card problem^^
Your friend has the protection stickers/foils still on and u don't - that's it!
greetz

Thats the same colour the Sim Tray. Thats plastic...

Yes, you can think that's the amoled technology that gives a strange tint until you see different devices.
Then you will notice some screens are quite OK, some are yellow and some are blue (and right out of the box).
I don't know if Samsung had several screen batches (they do that on PC monitors and TV without warning) or if the amoled panel is just not regular at the end of its production process.
Supercurio tried to investigate on some Galaxy S II models, asked people to give their screen identification serial and which problem/tint they noticed. I don't know if he came on a conclusion.
Anyway, for now you have this gamma adjustment tool included in Team hacksung ICS, you'll also have a new "Voodoo screen tuning app" with profiles and advanced options soon (Supercurio announced he will release it after he has sorted out some payment/market issues).

How can u tell me then, why i can see a bright ribbon on white screen where my status bar normally is? 5his is deffinitely a wear symptom...

Yeah, there's no denying screens get old too. I was just explaining this tint problem in particular.

7.7's screen: font looks bad, and yellow white

I was interested in the 7.7 and has tested it in several stores. There are two things that puts me off that I haven't seen anybody talk about.
1. The white is quite yellow. Compared to an ipad 2 or 3 or asus transformer, it looks much worse, and not so bright.
2. The resolution is supposedly good, but then why does the text looks so bad? I mean open the browser, and when it says Cannot connect to the internet page or something like this, that font looks not good. I also think the font saying Google search in the upper left corner also does not look good.
Is this just me seeing this? (same on many 7.7 devices i have tested).
I couldn't quite helping you with the yellowish issue, but if anyone had problem with the default fonts, there is an app called 'Fontomizer SP', which is a fonts package for Samsung Galaxy devices, that offers a list of additional fonts that you could choose from with preview.

The display on the 7.7 using Super Amoled Plus is regarded as one of the best by most people and I've seen several 7.7 screens and the text and colours all look great. But, as always it is a matter of personal taste. I don't like the 4:3 screen ratio on the iPad which is bad for viewing wide screen films and it is too big to fit in pockets which is why I bought the 7.7. So if you don't mind watching films with black bands at the top and bottom and using a bag to carry the iPad around then get that.
ok, so it's only me then.
I was curious if anybody else notice these things.
Could it be related to font smoothing?
On my galaxy note the text looks good, but it has a higher DPI. But I can't understand it should be related to higher DPI as the 7.7 already has quite high DPI.
There are 3 modes under screen settings, dynamic (which I use for color theory experiments), normal (which I use for daily use), and movie (which i rarely use). Movie mode does appear yellowish, photos are over-saturated in dynamic mode.... try adjusting these and see if you get better results.
here's an "amoled doodle" I did playing around with rgb (additive color primaries) and cmy (subtractive color primaries):

Possible production fault - Sawdust or cuttings behind display

Hello everyone,
when I got my SGS3 I was very excited. However, I noticed a possible production fault with the display, and I kindly ask any other SGS3 owner to check, whether this affects your phone as well.
Here is what's wrong:
When the you are in a dark environment (e.g. in your bedroom, reading in bed with your lights out - that's when I noticed it) and display a black image (most conveniently displayed with a display test app for example Screen Test - no outside links allowed for me, yet. Just look for it in the play store. It needs no rights and should have no strings attached ;-)).
Once your eyes have adjusted to the darker environment light, you will notice, two things:
a) the 'black' of the SGS3 is - by far - not as black as it was back on the SGS2. It looks much more greyish to me, as you see somehow kind of a back lighting. Don't know why you can see this, as I always thought AMOLED does not need such a thing, but anyway.
but much more importantly:
b) you see (at least that's what can be seen on my phone) little black (they are really black, in contrast to the display) 'snakelike' or 'wormlike' formed rubbish behind the display, which looks to me like sawdust or cuttings. Definitely a fault from production, though.
As I am not equipped with a good camera I am unfortunately not able to provide any photos (remember, it has to be dark in order to see 'through' the screen).
Can anyone confirm he has - or hopefully for you - has not these kind of problems?
The only good thing is, that the 'worms' are only visible in very rare circumstances. But now that I know that they are there, I always look out for them. And that is really annoying .

If yes then you're not alone everything related should be in this thread. If something else, try to snatch a picture of it or reproduce it in Photoshop
Thanks, exactly like that. Didn't find it with the search function though. Thread can be closed, I guess
Cuz you're using the wrong terminology.
Those are often referred to around here as "blobs".
Skyrocket and Hercules (both GSII) are full of them.
But when ICS leaked for Skyrocket, it made the dark grey more black and it became harder to see the blobs, though they are obviously still there.
It never bothers me. But when I got a warranty replacement phone for a different issue, I noticed it had a lot less blobs on it than the first phone did.

"Yellowish" Tint on screen + Black line

Hello,
Bought my phone last thursday. Noticed just a few days ago that when the screen is really dark (pitch black), and the brightness is high , in a dark room (No lights), I could see a
long black line just slightly away from the Samsung Logo. I am unable to take a picture as the camera wouldn't be able to capture the line. Some googling revealed that it's a common issue with SAMOLED screens. It doesn't appear when the screen is filled with colors / normal operation.
Another thing is that there is a very strong "yellow" tint on my screen. I am not sure if it's just me since I am used to an IPS monitor or my screen is really defective.

Should I ask for a replacement?
I noticed this too when I got my device. But I got used to it really quickly. But looking at the screen now, I really don't think it has a yellowish hue at all anymore. I have had 2 updates on this device. The color calibration has always been on standard. Maybe it got adjusted, or something settled in. I'd like to hear more feedback from people for sure. I've owned my device for 5 weeks now.

I got used to it too but there was this slight "is this like how it's supposed to look like" feeling in me. This is my first AMOLED / SAMOLED device so I am not sure of what to expect.
I had a Galaxy S3 LTE before, which had a perfect color balance (no green/yellow hue, just fine). So I don't think this is ok.
Hopefully ColorControl (from Galaxy Nexus) will be ported to our Note 2, so that WE can fix Samsungs issues...
I did compare my Note 2 with a Galaxy S3. I couldn't believe just how exact the colors were for every brightness setting and every app, being so different when it comes to AMOLED technologies.

Are you currently facing the "yellowish" whites as well?

Color convergence issues

Hi all,
I've had my 6p for almost two weeks and tomorrow is my last day to return it. They will not extend buyer's remorse to a replacement unit so before tomorrow I need to decide if the issue I have is specific to my unit (get a replacement) or related to the AMOLED panel used on this phone (cancel).
The issue is that colors seem not to converge correctly, just like old CRT screens would. This is most noticeable on high contrast borders such as black text on light backgrounds, which my brain interprets as embossed text rather than nice flat text. Below is a zoomed in example showing this issue, upper borders are reddish/darker and lower ones are greenish/bright.

Anyone else seeing this? my friend's S5 has a similar thing but way less noticeable and i could probably live with it, whereas my 6p is probably too much. Yes this is my first AMOLED.
Thoughts? thanks!

You are joking? Right?
That image is blown up how much??
400%. Otherwise you wouldn't see it on a forum, but real life you can see it with no need to zoom

Anyone facing gray text on note 4

Hello everyone,
I'm facing a problem (or may be i have ocd) but I see that black texts on white background on note 4 is not even black. Actually it's more black on the left and some kind of gray on the right of the screen. But not completely like that. Some center block of the screen also have the gray texts. And somehow some character has the gray top and bottom and center black. It's very weird to me. I think I will borrow a camera to capture the screen and post here tomorrow.
I came to the Samsung warranty center this after and they say my screen is perfectly normal although I can see the unevenness by using web browser and especially kindle. I use kindle a lot and didn't spot the problem because mostly I use low brightness and black theme. They tested r/g/b/w/black using *#1*# and I don't see the problem here. I also borrow another note 4 and a s7e and also see the problem but not bad as my phone.
Is this by design?I used many lcd-product (iphone, ipad) and never met this problem.
same here, the display on note 4 is far from perfect. I have owned many note 4s most of them had an inconsistent display quality across screen. But not all people notice it...

Do you think this is amoled flaws? I don't have any problem view pictures, watch videos, but only seeing gray texts. I will borrow a good camera and upload the screen photo here.
I will borrow a better camera. Just got these pictures from iphone 6s. http://imgur.com/a/7JxGf

yes the display panel on most note 4s is like this but most people don't even notice it. Its not really a problem...very minor stuff....i used to worry about such minor things as well and kept wasting money on swapping one phone after another but i have learnt my lesson...there is no such thing as a "perfect phone" ! so get over it and enjoy your phone :good:

I found my issue. It's because the screen gets dirt and my finger print and effect the text quality. I haven't even think that text quality can be affected by such minor things. I cleaned them out and found the texts great again. But I want to say that even the screen is clear, some texts are not black, but not bad as in the picture.
