[Q] Documents to Go - Thinkpad Tablet General

My problem is that whenever I connect the TPT to my PC, DTG tells me "No Device Connected".
I am running:
Documents To Go Desktop for Android PC:
Version: 3.0000.031
Documents To Go on the Android:
Version: 3.003u(999)
Under My Computer on PC: TPT is listed under Portable devices: THINKPAD TABLET:
Portable Media Player
Running on TPT: ANDROID OS 3.1
On PC under Device manager:
The tablet is not listed by name under: USB
Debugging mode in not on.
The only I was able to get DTG to syn is to uninstall from PC and then reinstall. It works one time only and then I have to uninstall and reinstall again.
This worked for a few times and now even this does not work.
DTG has not been much help yet.
I really need this to work.
All help very much appreciated.
Shofar

What are you trying to do with DTG by connecting it to you pc? You can wirelessly transfer files via ftp, or do it manually by usb if that's all you're doing

I'm trying to get the documents I write on the PC onto the tablet.
File transfer via USB seems to be working even though every time I move a Word doc, the PC tells me I won't be able to read it on the tab.
Sync is supposed to work so I guess I want it to work.

How come I cannot connect to my PC using the USB?

I currently have Froyo 2.2 on my HD2 and I am having fun with it.
However, I whenever I connect the phone to my PC using the USB connection, I can never see my phone connect to the PC.
I go to my computer and I don't see any new drive. I can easily do this with WinMo 6.5.
I need to transfer files from my computer to my phone but I cannot make the connection. Please help.
Is there some time of setting that I have to do?
I went to setting -->> Connect to PC --->> Default connection type --->> and I chose Disk Drive but it still does not work.
The options that I have are:
Charge Only
HTC Sync
Disk Drive
USB Tethering
I think I tried all 4 of the options but I still cannot connect my phone to my PC using the USB cable.
Please help.

you can go to market and search for this app(automount),then set it to auto mount when USB connected...then you should see your device on your PC...but you are unable to direct copy files to the device,it'll corrupt...
The most reliable way to copy file from pc to android now is install this software...Android explorer which allows drag and drop...everything...click here
download and install it...hey mate, next time please don't create a thread because of 1 question, try to ask in the thread of your build or search...
Cheers..that definitely will help you..

How to transfer files onto it via Mac?

With my HTC Inspire 4G I plug in the USB cable and it pops up as a drive to transfer files onto (ie movies), however with the galaxy tab 10.1 it doesn't. I rooted it on a windows machine, so wondering how to make it a USB drive when I plug in, so I can transfer movies and files from my Mac.
Anyone?
It doesn't mount as a USB drive on a Mac - you have to use this utility to put files on the device.
Apparently I'm too new auser to post a link so I'll write it out:
android dot com forward-slash filetransfer

good find with the app, but it doesn't work. when I plug in it just says "No Android device found" and on the tablet it says Connected - Press home button to quit keys... but it doesn't mount a drive or open up file transfer box. Am I missing something?
Same here - AFT doesn't work on Snow Leopard, much less Lion. Please tell me that you, or someone else has discovered a solution since this post three months ago?
I believe there is a thread on this in the development section. But to answer your question anyways, you simply need to go to Samsung's support website and after entering your product model, go to the downloads section and install the Kies software for Mac. Unfortunately you must use this version of Kies since the GT 10.1 can't be mounted as mass storage on Macs.
Guys, use Websharing. Look for it in the market. Basically turns Tab into a web server on the network accessible via any web browser.
That's what I use. Android File Transfer (AFT) does not work, and Apple broke/changed something in their AFP. I used to use the LAN feature in Estrongs until Lion came out and borked that.
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using Tapatalk
AFT will not work because it is built using a library of libmtp that is too old for the Galaxy Tab. Hopefully Google will update it soon to support the Galaxy Tab.
I tried to compile libmtp to support it, but couldn't get it to work. I'll try again when I'm not busy and see what happens.
In the meantime, you can use Samsung Kies software, or DDMS if you have the android SDK

Not a mac guy but had the same problem on my pc. Ended up installing Remote Web Desktop (Smartdog studio) from android marketplace on the tab. It's free. Then used filezilla (or any other ftp program) from my pc. Worked great, so no more worries about USB connectivity.
I recently bought a tab 8.9 and I was very disappointed by this problem. I'm going through FTP right now.
Is it possible to enable normal file transfer if I root my tablet?
theres a way..but u need to have ADB ..also need to be home to let u know..
there is this ADB tool app that u run and it will detect ur tab..i got mine detected mine is 10.1
I've never really understood this problem - is it something that will be sorted it with the newer Android firmwares such as 3.2? I had a Vega running vegacomb 3.2 and that mounted on the Mac without a problem.
Use File Expert, they have a built in FTP & websharing. It works great with a FTP app on the Mac.
knock off usb debugging in applications>development should work with samsung software u have 2 download. it work 4 me

I tried turn on and off several times. Before and after Kies opening every possibility just not work. But until at last it just can sync with Kies by itself. I really don't understand how can it work.
Any way via Kies you can only music, photo and video. You have any idea how to push PDF files into it??
i use adb push for putting everything on my tablet....its a lot easier than waiting for Kies.
I have mac and use this method for file transfer to my Galaxy Tab 10.1 :
-install android-sdk-mac_x86 from Android developers site.
-open 'tool' folder and search for ddms ( android-sdk-mac_x86/tools/ddms )
-connect your galaxy tab to mac via usb
-dubbleclick on ddms (it will start terminal and java) new window 'Dalvik Debug Monitor will open
-click on your device listed in this new window
-from file menu open Device -> File Explorer
-new window with folders of your Galaxy tab will pop up
- navigate to any folder on your device and just drag and drop any file from your computer finder window.

+1 on the File Expert Method.
Download FE (free) and Cyberduck (free) unless you already have a FTP server/client program.
Turn on sharing via FTP on tab, then enter in the settings on Cyberduck, and voila! Wirelessly connected on your local net.
Just drag and drop any file to any directory. I've loaded multiple items ranging from 100mb to 1.34gb in minutes. movies, pics, pdfs, you name it.
I feel this is the easiest of all, and kies actually works for me!

When I dubbleclick on ddms, Terminal says this:
/Users/.........../Downloads/android-sdk-mac_x86-1.6_r1/tools/ddms ; exit;
new-host:~ ...........$ /Users/.........../Downloads/android-sdk-mac_x86-1.6_r1/tools/ddms ; exit;

[Q] How to Transfer files to the 10.1 via Windows 7

Hi All,
I've tried everything, including the usb drivers from the root guide and installing the Samsung Kies Mini program, but I can't get Windows to recognize the memory on the device. I want to transfer some movies on the Galaxy and have not been able to figure it out.
When I run the Kies software it says "plug in your usb" and when I plug in the Galaxy nothing happens...
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
It should work by just plugging in the usb/connector cable. You don't need Kies (doesnt support the 10.1 anyway right now)
When your pc does not recognize your tab, something is fishy about your pc/ usb.
USB connection should work:
(Autoplay should pop up
Select open device to connect (GT-P7510)
Click on phone
Select directory to copy file to)
Sounds like a PC problem. (Look in device manager and see if your USB controllers are ok)
Looked at Device Manager, no issues under USB.
Comes up as an Android phone...
forget the cable...
try 'Samba Fileshare' app free from the Market.
Connect to your 10.1 over WiFi and send files to it via the shared folder it creates.
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.funkyfresh.samba&feature=search_result
Worked fine for me without installing anything.
On another note, the Kies software does seem to somewhat support the 10.1 as it installed the required adb drivers when I chose it from the menu.
im having problems too.... for now I am using dropbox.
I have a shared folder on my PC and use ES File Explorer over Wifi, it's simple and works a treat. https://market.android.com/details?id=com.estrongs.android.pop&feature=search_result

I had to disable USB Debugging to get mine to pop up. Took me a while.
Oh thank God I am not the only one having this problem,,, i have tried every driver combo out there plus leaving USB debugging off and still i get nothing on my windows 7 machine. I have tried three different machines and all the same so it is not a computer issue i think it is a driver issue or a interface with the tab????
Interesting thing though is that I can push via ADB all day it that connects easy!!! WTF?????

[Q] File transfer workaround

I'm wondering what others file transfer workaround is.
For larger movie files (1-2GB), I have been uploading one by one to Dropbox, then downloading onto my tab. But this is awfully time consuming.
Anyone have a better workaround until File Transfer recognizes the 10.1?
I'm really confused by all these threads about file transfer not working
I have had no problems whatsoever
is it because you are using a mac?
i have file transfer problems, too. trying to transfer a huge file / large number of files via usb and windows file explorer just aborts the transfer after a few minutes without any error message.
currently im using "wifi explorer" fpr transmitting files to my tablet. it's a cool app i've already been using on my android phone, too. with this tool you can access your tablet/phone with a browser (web-interface), once you've started wifi explorer and you're connected to your wifi.
It's not so much so a specifically Mac issue or Windows machine issue, apparently quite a few of the IO tabs just simply cannot or won't be recognized by either OS. I know of this first hand cuz neither my Mac nor Windows 7 ultimate machines see my tab.
Uplinked through my mind
I found out that the computer won't pick up your device if USB Debugging mode is on. After I disabled that and had the KIES drivers installed, Windows picked up the device without any problems.

Can't copy files to the tablet

I think it started after I updated to the new Samsung UI.
So I plug in the tablet to the usb (it sees it as the mpt device in 'mobile devices' section of my computer), navigate to the folder. When I am dragging files over to copy it gives the warning, that I won't be able to play back it (which is wrong). Than it thinks for a moment and states, that cannot copy file due to device was not recognized ot something.
I've installed the latest version of Kies for Win7, so all latest USB drivers are installed.
And anyway, how to turn off this crapy MPT connection? I want to use the tablet as a USB flash.
I'm not sure what causing that, but it might be worth reinstalling the drivers. If you start Kies, there's an option to do that.
No, it does not help. I reinstalled the driver via Kies and also manually.
I can copy back and forth small files, but as soon as I wanto to copy a 400Mb movie - it just looses connection with device.
the movie has to be no more than 3gig, either resize the movie with handrake or split the movie in half with HJsplit 3.0 and then transfer it, i would suggest using wifi explorer pro to transfer, works %100
