I need the PD15IMG.zip file to downgrade to 2.2.1 - myTouch 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm trying to downgrade my buddy to 2.2.1 so he can have root and I just learned that megaupload was shut down and that's where the link in the tutorial is uploaded to. If anyone can help with that file I would appreciate it.

WHATTTTTTTTTT??! WHY ARE ALL THE UPLOAD SITES BEING TAKEN DOWN!!! I'm sad now

I still have this file here but I don't know where to upload it...
I have enough place on my personal website but I'm not sure it's legal to redistribute original T-Mobile firmware.
EDIT : I'm uploading it to file factory. Give me 30 mins...

That's not a crazy concern, but sharing of such things is no problem at all on XDA and sites like it.

Umm, Android is open source. Why would there be anything wrong with sharing a ROM? When you walk into T-mobile and ask for an update they don't charge you for the software. Also, HTC releases source code for the kernel. It an open system. That is the point of Android. Well, that and Google making money.

Android is open source but some software shipped by T-Mobile inside the ROM might not be.
Example : HTC sense is closed source.

And i'm going to go out on a Limb and say that most people have a Google Docs account which can store .zip files, or a DropBox, or Box account which can do the same.

Hello,
Sorry to bother but FileFactory isnt working anymore because everyone is using it. Could you upload PD15IMG.zip to mediafire or another file hosting website?

I can do it but you will need to wait tomorrow. Need to go to sleep for now...

If you already downloaded it on your g2, the apk file should be in data/app
You need a Root explorer like 'ES File Explorer' for it to acces the map.
Or isnt that your question?

My apologies TRM. I was at work when I saw that and didn't get to read up on it. Thank you for removing the link.
Exactly why I didn't realy want to use it.
I got es file explorer and went into /system/app directory but it only shows the stock apks. It doesn't show the downloaded apks from the market... all the settings are enabled for root visibility... what am I doing wrong?

Afaik I don't think you can just grab them. There are means of obtaining the apk files which I won't talk about, and don't PM me about it. Now, if you want those said apks for backup purposes, just install titanium backup.

I use a certain app from market that allows you to pull the APK of an already installed app so you can sideload on another device. My particluar use is taking apps that aren't available for my tablet from my phone and transfering it over (Tiny Tower, Contacts, etc...)

[Root][CWM][Unbloat] A200 one click tools

Hi everyone,
Today we have a one click root tool and an unbloat tool. Both work very well and I in no way take credit for these tools.
First off is SimpleTool by hbwelch.
This tool creates a one click bootloader unlock, root, and clockworkmod CWM recovery.
It works great and I have tested all three functions.
Download: AcerA200 SimpleTool V2
The unbloat tool by Toffy seems to work well. I do have a hand full of apps that still refuse to let me remove them but at least we can get rid of most of it.
I was told this link was not in my best interest to be hosting so it has since been taken down
These developers can be found at the Acertabletforum website.
Thank you to hbwelch and Toffy for your work!
Acer A200 BRICKED. cannot mount /data /sdcard

The "Unbloat" tool has a bunch of copyrighted APKs in it. It's probably not allowed here on XDA

I would say if anything it is questionable ground. The tool is only trying to remount the apps so they can be removed. It isn't exploiting the copyrighted material.
Can .apks even be copyright protected?

That would make more sense. I didn't create the tool though. Until I am certain the tool is against XDA policy I will keep it available. I don't believe there is anything wrong legally with simply having the APK. If that were the case Titanium Backup could also be in the wrong by backing up your system apps to a user accessible location.

Well no Titanium doesn't break any laws because it doesn't upload your APKs to rapidshare
I don't mind the tools being available but I wouldn't want you being banned for trying to help either the mods can get quite pedantic sometimes. I've already had a week's ban and I didn't even upload anything illegal to xda. I think I posted a link to a forum that was deemed bad. Lolol

[DISCUSSION] Root Achieved....System Apps Safe To Remove

Now that we have root access, lets keep track of which system apps are safe to remove for the time being until custom ROMs are out.
I'll start playing around with them now and report as I go.
Would love others who are removing files to chime in as well
====================================
Removed, Rebooted and my phone did not catch fire or crash (most of these are pretty obvious)
**Please note, a few of these bloat apps have to removed from both /system/app and /data/app to fully remove**
AmazonShopping_TMO.apk
BonusApp_TMO.apk
BooksTablet.apk
ChatON.apk
com.mobitv.client.tmobiletvhd.apk
ECID-release_TMO.apk
Flipboard.apk
GameHub_2.0_ICS.apk
MoreServices.apk
PlusOne.apk
SamsungApps.apk
SamsungAppsUNA3.apk
Videos.apk
Vvm_TMO.apk
Not sure what these do so I'm not removing them yet but they appear to be bloat
===FURTHER RESEARCH SHOWS THE FOLLOWING===
Appears they're something to do with Carrier IQ
IQ-tmobile-release-unsigned.signed_TMO.apk <---WiFi Calling? logo shows "Carrier IQ"
IQ_OOB_TMO.apk <---Not sure
IQToggle.signed_TMO.apk <---Not sure
=======================================
MobileLifeContacts_TMO.apk
PolarisViewer.apk
Talk.apk (is this Google Talk?)
Restoring data only from my SGSII now...will report back.
OK, removing those freed up a ton of RAM.
Free RAM is currently showing at 1.2GB (before it was ~800 or less if I'm not mistaken).
Only things really just "sitting" there now (in the running apps) are AllShare Play, MAPServiceSamsung, Media, Media Hub and MobileLife Contacts...besides what's usually there like keyboard, Maps, Google Services, etc.
Restore was successful! All data back----NICE!

Yeah, go to the development section and there is a link to the Sprint root. It works absolutely perfectly. If you'd like, I'll take a screenshot of BusyBox and the /system/app through Root Explorer.
On topic, does anyone have information on the files I have listed as not sure? I think the three IQ files are Carrier IQ related (not sure what this is).

These are the three files I'm talking about:
IQ-tmobile-release-unsigned.signed_TMO.apk
IQ_OOB_TMO.apk
IQToggle.signed_TMO.apk
When you google the top apk it comes back something about WiFi calling, just an FYI. No info found on the other two. I'm assuming its CarrierIQ though. If you click the IQ-tmobile.release-unsigned.signed_TMO.apk with RootExplorer then click "view" and search through the files, you'll find an icon file and the icon is CarrierIQ.
Beyond all the files I've already removed, there aren't much more to take off unless you want to remove core features that you might not use such as AllShare, MediaHub, etc. Stuff like that, though, I'll wait for others to tinker with lol. Those could be linked to system files.
Like I said though, I'm up to about 1.1-1.2GB free RAM

I've got the kitkat OTA zip file for dual sim version[download link provided]

The file name is Blur_Version.14.85.4.falcon_umtsds.AsiaRetail.en.03.zip
If someone need this zip, I can upload it.
It is from a friend. For myself, I haven't received the push yet. But since I have already root my phone, I can't update my phone using this zip file.
As far as I know, you need put this file into /Cache and reboot to apply this update. If I flash stock rom to my phone, then I can't access the /Cache directory.
So either way, this file is useless to me.
Is there anyone can find a way to apply this update?

Step 6: Select update from SDCARD option
Step 7: Select .Zip which you downloaded and place in your phone
Step 8: Sit back and relax it takes 5 to 10 mins to update
Step 9: Restart your phone.. You have got Kitkat!! Enjoy.

I mean I need at least post 10 posts. Thanks for supporting anyway.
btw isn't system version "14.85.4.falcon_umtsds.AsiaRetail.en.03" Android 4.3? because I have a dual sim phone and it shows this version. Hopefully the OTA contains kitkat for this system versions.
