[Q] root and updates - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 General

I'm new here, read thousands of posts which helped me out over the last 2 years. You guys are great and the service you provide is unbelievable!
After almost 2 years with my faithful Nexus one(no root) I am now a happy and proud owner of a Note. The unit I bought came rooted (I think) because or the need for right to left language(Hebrew). Super User is installed. Root Check was unable to return a result. If super user is installed does that mean the phone is rooted? If so is there anyway to get the original system back? In the case of the root will I be able to easily install the 4.0 update if and when it comes?
thanks!

1. If Super User is installed then your Device is Rooted (No Warranty)
2. Yes ter is a way to update Official ROM Via Odin
3. If you want install Custom ICS 4.0 Then Stay Rooted.

Help me upgrading to froyo.. beginner..

Hello,
I am using Samsung Galaxy S I9000.. It is running on firmware 2.1 Eclair..
I want to upgrade it to Froyo 2.2.. I heard the JPA is fastest rom available for Galaxy S..
Please suggest me the best ROM to install on my galaxy s for speed and performance..
The baseband my phone has - I9000DDJG4
Please help me, how can I upgrade my phone to Froyo 2.2.. I've seen lots of ROM available in Android development section but don't know whether they support my mobile or not.
you need 20 minutes
1. 3br fix if not working, easy one from Richtrofen - flash bootloader with odin. (most risky part, but I do not find post with bricked phone when you patch both bootloaders at once), for me worked well
2. instal z4 root to root your phone
3. instal terminal and backup /efs folder
4. instal rom manager and download Doc rom v9 and instal it
Very stable and great rom, for the first time my gps is not lost every few kilometres

[Q] Some questions about rooting

Hello guys, I have some questions I am hoping you experienced people can answer for me.
After doing a bunch of research, I am left a bit confused since a lot of the posts are older, and things have changed over the last few months, especially with locked bootloaders and such.
My current phone is:
-Samsung S4 (Fido based) SGH-i337M
-Android Version 4.3
-Baseband Version i337MVLUEMK6
I only want to ROOT the phone, so I can remove a bunch of excess Samsung bloatware that I never use, I am not really interested in custom ROM's at this time.
1. What is a Custom Recovery exactly?
I keep reading about Custom Recoveries but I don't really know what they are exactly... . Is this just a Firmware mirror that I can go back to at any time AFTER I root the device? Do I need to root the device to CREATE the Custom Recovery?
2. CAN I go back to "Stock" easily? Can I just find the original 4.3 Samsung FW and load it up?
3. I know that moving to 4.4 will require another Root when it becomes available later this month from Samsung, however can I go to the Default Android 4.4 ROM at this time, skipping all the Samsung Stuff?
4. I see a programmed called KINGO offering to root my phone for me, but then somebody said something about there not being a Custom Recovery available for it, which goes up to my original question. Can I not just revert back to unrooted status after?
Thanks to anybody who can help me with these noobish questions, I appreciate it.
I don't have your model so don't want to guess at rooting.
But:
Do not remove Bloatware after rooted. Get Titanium BackuP from the Market. The paid version (support devs) and just freeze the apps until you know they have no negative impact after freezing.
Do a Nandroid ASAP and put a copy on PC also.
Read this on your Recovery question:

You have an unlocked bootloader with the i337m
Someone else can address correct rooting for your specific device and get the correct recovery for it. I prefer TWRP.

[Q] Update after rooting

Dear gurus,
I'm new to Galaxy family, I have a small question. Provided that I have root access for S5 and using Stock ROM. Am I still able to OTA/Kies update?
The reason I want to root is to get rid of SamSung bloatwares and use custom kernel.
Thanks
No. You have to download firmware/rom updates then flash them to your phone now.
Using the phone for updates after rooting will cause you to lose all root access and then would just cause more problems. As stated before, you'll have to manually apply them once rooted.
Tks you all, I got it!

Update to 5.9.026s with rooted Le Pro 3

Hi everyone,
3 weeks ago I received my Le Pro 3 with original multilingual software (german).
Since there were too many useless Chinese apps I decided to root my device and delete all the unnecessary stuff.
Now a new Update (5.9.026s) has been released and I tried several ways to upgrade.
None of them are working.
I hope you can help me out and tell me if there is a possibility to upgrade without flashing the stock firmware via twrp first.
Thanks in advance
No way - afaik. Since KitKat its impossible to get OTA-Updates with a modified device. You have to go back to Stock without root first - you'll find a lot of howto's in this forum. But after all i read here about this 026S-update i guess it isn't worth the whole procedure. I'm pretty satisfied with my debloated 023S-Stock rom and I wouldn't change a thing until there comes an offical Nougat-update maybe some fine day!

Thanks.
I guess I'm waiting for an official Nougat-Update too for going back to stock and upgrading.

Old Note 3

Hi all,
Thanks in advance.... I had my Note 3 since it was launched and I think it's high time I root it & try to use it with custom built rom as the original standard rom is getting out dated & sluggish.
I read a few threads about rooting this phone and the more I read, the more confuse I got as I am not sure which is the best way to do it now.
So, if there is any kind hearted soul out there, can you point me the right direction to which thread or way that is best for rooting my Note 3.
Lastly, which custom Rom that is currently best in terms of stability? I prefer rom that is as clean as possible without those bloatwares or unnecessary apps that usually comes standard on the original rom.
My unit should be international model as it is not tied to any Telco, I am in Malaysia.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thank you
Flash TWRP custom recovery .
Use Supersu zip to root if needed .
Best rom

If you intend to use a custom ROM, there is no need to root the phone before flashing the custom ROM if you install TWRP first.
Confirm the model # of your phone in download mode before flashing TWRP as Samsung made several models of the Note 3.
Thanks so much guys, great stuff, at least there is something I can look forward to do this Christmas break....
Thanks again... Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to all!

Hi, so what you are saying is if I install the right copy of TWRP first, it will do the rooting as well & put in the supersu for me?
Thanks again.
What I mean is that there is no need to root the existing stock rom with supersu if you intend to go straight to a custom ROM after flashing twrp.
Flashing supersu with twrp is needed to get root on a stock rom if you intend to stay with a stock rom.
