DONT DOWNLOAD ICS YET until the dust settles. I am waiting for the same in fact I bought one just last week from the crazy TD-eBay sale for $249 shipped only to try out ICS. It arrived yesterday and I noticed there is no update for it OTA but now its going on craigslist because of this article:

ASUS Transformer ICS update leaves tablets unusable
By Ed Burnette | February 29, 2012, 2:00pm PST
Summary: Anxious to upgrade your ASUS EEEPad Transformer to Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich)? This time it doesn’t pay to be an early adopter.
Late last week ASUS started rolling out an over the air update for the original EEEPad Transformer. If you haven’t installed it yet, don’t. It can cause random reboots and generally make your tablet unusable.
I installed the update over the weekend and have had nothing but problems ever since. The main problem is that every couple of hours it will decide to reboot itself, and then to add insult to injury, the reboot fails. The tablet hangs on the startup after rebooting, and you have to turn it off and back on to clear the problem. The Transformer doesn’t have a removable battery, so to do a hard power-off you hold the power button for about 10 seconds. Luckily that works.
Dozens of frustrated ASUS customers have posted irate messages about the problems over in the XDA and Transformer forums. Besides the random reboots, some report intense battery drains and crashes of common apps. Here are a few of the threads tracking the issue:
ICS boot problem
Random Reboot Investigation
Working solution for random boot issues (not really)
Read this now !!! Post all ICS and ICS related info here only !!!!!
[SOLVED] Ice Cream sandwich update basically bricks TF101 (still bricked, sorry)
[HOW TO] ICS update problems? - fix them with these steps (didn’t help me)
My TF101 randomly reboots after Ice Cream Sandwich update!!
Reboot loop less than 36 hrs after ICS upgrade
Some people have reported no problems at all, so it’s a bit of a crap shoot whether or not you’ll be affected. Some say that factory resets, clearing and wiping everything has fixed the problem but it did not fix it for me or a lot of others. My advice: Don’t upgrade until ASUS retracts this ill-fated update and puts out a better version.

I would think Asus would want to address some of the issues reported with the TF101 release first before they release anything to the G.
Asus Italia stated "tf101g will receive ics update by the first days of March"..
So.. We are at the 11th..
Dunno what to think about.

Considering some of the issues with some users with the TF101 and ICS, it may be better that they are waiting to release the TF101G until that is fixed.
Unless you want to be one of the "'lucky" ones who have random unpredictable reboots due to a firmware issue.
I think I can wait but there is no communication from ASUS on G version at all. This is even frustrating.

have to post this i have had my TF101 for a year today and with this lastest update i have had 6 updates to the softwre. That is excellent customer support works out an update every 2 months

Shhhh dont tell the gtab owners hehe
Updates are nice but I'd take quality over quantity any day.
Honeycomb took 3 attempts to get right, ICS isn't right yet after 3.
I like my TF101 and appreciate the effort Asus puts into supporting their older hardware but unfortunately the result hasn't always been what you'd hope for.
Perhaps 4 times is a charm, I'm keeping the faith.

There've been two updates to our ICS. The initial release of ICS can't be considered an update to ICS, by definition.
If you want to get really technical about it, there've been no updates (just bugfixes). The Honeycomb "attempts" you refer to were version updates, going from 3.0 to 3.1 to 3.2 to 3.2.1. Whereas I believe ICS on TF101 has started and remained at 4.0.3 so far.
Wait someone here who is actually happy with ASUS. Well I guess the world really is ending in 2012.

Dear valued ASUS customer,
At ASUS, one of the key commitments we make to our customers is a relentless drive to deliver the best user experience. We constantly strive to achieve this goal through our ‘Design Thinking’ philosophy that includes regular software and firmware updates for our products.
We are pleased to announce that many of our tablet products are scheduled to receive an update to Android 4.1, Jelly Bean. The ASUS Transformer Pad, ASUS Transformer Pad Prime and ASUS Transformer Pad Infinity are all scheduled to receive Android 4.1 updates in the coming months. We will provide further guidance on our expected timeframes for these updates near their release.
We are still investigating Jelly Bean updates for other devices, but we are not in a position to confirm whether any other products will be eligible for an update at the moment.
Thank you for your continued support.

It's nice that the Tegra 3 devices are getting it, I just hope they decide to bring it to the Tegra 2 devices also. This kind of leaves it up in the air at the moment.

At this point it's better to not even try and predict what ASUS has planned for the TF101. Either way, the Devs. are already well on the way to having stable JB ROMs released soon. Hell, some people say the early test builds are good enough to be used as daily drivers.

I've tried the first 3 initial releases and cm10 preview was the the best, but not without issues. At least I could watch Netflix and YouTube videos. Team eos was OK but videos didn't work. I'm getting ready to try the 2nd version of rayman33's attempt to see how it has progressed, this time with a full backup just done for my Gummy setup. I've grown pretty fond of the Gummy ICS iteration of aokp and look forward to what they may do with JB. I used Revolver for a long while before, but he's gotten a little slower on the updates lately. I may have to check out a 'pure' aokp and see how that compares to Gummy. I also tried Steeldroid's aokp ICS and it looked really good, too. I just didn't like it always asking at bootup which launcher I wanted to use when I'd already answered once. One other thing I experienced with the JB builds that I didn't like was that web pages in dolphin HD on the forum threads here and some other sites rendered with a washed out or greyed out look, like when you you're looking at email and they've been marked read already.
Isnt the Asus Transformer Pad the same as the TF101? and a Tegra 2 device? As I read te statement I took it as th TF101 is getting the Jelly Bean Update in the coming months. Am I wrong?

It appears that rayman33 has made amazing progress with his 2nd release. If I wasn't spending most of my time with my new Nexus 7, I'd give it a shot right now. My current setup is pretty generic. Stock .27, with rayman's Harmony 66 kernel running @ 1.4GHz. Pretty boring, but it just works. I've given up on Dolphin on the Nexus 7 w/JB. I'm using Chrome and Firefox Beta for Flash sites.

Better known as TF300
JB seems like a fairly boring update. So I really don't care if my TF101 gets it or not. I just want Asus to make ICS more stable.

Chrome doesn't. Firefox beta and nightly do.
Asus calls the 300t by the same name they called the tf101. We may not see it officially until all the others get it. Thankfully Asus kept it simple and all they do is port the Prime/300t build over to our device.

PETITION to ask the jelly bean update on TF101!

Hello,
I write from Italy and I'm new in this forum. I signed up to share you the petition to ask the Jelly Bean update to Asus for Transformer TF101 after the declarations that it won't be updated.
The petition was published on iPetitions and I would your help in spreading the initiative.
Comments, suggestions and above signatures are well accepted!

Last time I checked, no one from ASUS said the TF101 won't get a JB update. I prefer them not to, judging from the terrible job they did with the ICS update. Already a lot of JB custom roms can be found in development so we won't need ASUS at all.

Asus Italy stated on their Facebook page that right now only the TF201, TF300T and TF700 will get Jelly Bean, while TF101(G)/SL101 won't get the update.
That said, they have been extremely unreliable wrt announcements in the past, so I think a petition is a bit premature

The ASUS Transformer Pad is the TF300 model series, not TF101. So according to that post, they are still investigating a possible update to TF101.

You are right, they have not specifically said that there is no update for it and I really don't care for one. I, along with many others, have had a terrible experience with ICS from ASUS and have been running ROM's for awhile now. I am already rocking JB and have a stable build. I am done with ASUS.
signed.
I would prefer a petition that demands the release of all drivers and everything else needed to make roms on our own.
just signed... maybe people with facebook accounts (i dont have one) can post a link to this petition on an ASUS facebook wall to encourage other people to sign.
I'm sorry but do you really care so much about 'official' JB? We have everything we need to make it work from AOSP, there's only a few minor problems that are definitely fixable, and I'm pretty sure we'll fix those sooner than ASUS releases an update. Most ASUS bloat works on AOSP without problems, and feature wise their ROM is only different in toggles and touchpad settings, both of which are very possible. So can someone explain why would they want OFFICIALZ STUFFZ?

Some people wish to remain "stock", which is understandable. Installing a ROM can be intimidating if they've never done it before.

And which company would you have gone to? Asus has been supplying updates quite consistently. I wonder what more you would want.
Xoom (wifi only) might have a Jelly Bean update already, but Xoom owners are complaining left and right about the poor quality of this update.

An official update from AUSUS would increase the chance of also getting updater drivers, e.g. NVidia drivers etc.
Also an official build from AUSUS would have everything up and running (if yet possibly still with a few bugs, but lets hope not).

We already have updated drivers from the Xoom OTA. They need some kernel changes but it'll be easy when kernel source drops for Xoom.

Don't believe everything that you read read for crying out loud & from a Russian page at that. If that were the case it would have been out 5 months ago.
A little update: I've just asked if this is an official page and statement, so the answer was yes. They will inform us further, as soon as they get more info regarding updates.
Bad news, the post on the website seems to be taken down
All we need is one solid Rom, everytime a never version of android comes out it lays waste to many unfinished Roms.
There have been several announcements on other web pages saying that TF101 will not get Jelly Bean. To be honest, I don't think that ASUS will maintain our "outdated" model and provide a new firmware version.
I have successfully rooted my device, put RaymanFX CM10 ROM on along with timdurus KAT kernel. My TF101 is now much faster, much more responsive and rock stable. ... maybe you should give it a try.

Unfortunately the post from facebook was deleted, Asus representatives didn't provide any further info on JB update. At this point there are neither official confirmations nor denials regarding updates for TF101
Not a good sign...
Jb on tf101 is better supported here then something from asus anyhow.
I was on the online support chat for Asus NA a couple days ago and asked if there were any further updates expected for the TF101 or is it now unsupported and was told, by a Kyle, that as far as he could see that there was going to be an update to 4.1.1 for the TF101, but there was no official word or date of release yet. He also said that the TF101 was far from being irrelevant. Take it for what it's worth.
I have to say i'm feeling confident in an update as they have been many more confirmations then denials to an update for the TF101. Maybe a Christmas present from Asus.

Exactly. That's what I said too: It may be a christmas surprise. I just don't get why it takes that much for making just a new FW.. I mean, some people like RaymanFX which I guess that he learned everything from Internet can make BETTER FWs than Asus?.. Eh. Anyways. Hope they'll make a better firmware than ICS.
