ROM for LT18i generic unbranded
If i update to this ROM would i be able to connect my cell to 3G connection. The thing is i bought this on ebay in Singapore and when it comes i realized that bands in america are different. however i read before that this cellphone is quadriband and that supposed to make it available to connect but i needed to changed the ROM somehow. Can this Rom change that? thanks.

Can you make me a favor?
- Flash using Wotan client.
- Repair using SEUS (just to download files in blob_fs folder.
- decrypt and create bundle from SEUS files in blob_fs
?
I just want to check if SEUS will repair it, my LT18a is prototype, so can you try to do it? I'm not sure about the SI numbers for US generic If you be so kind, I really appreciate it, if you want I will pay $$ Paypal just for the help.

SEUS always repairs phones, regardless of whatever firmware is on it.
However, it will not always download the current firmware you have on the phone. It may download your region's current firmware.

No, it will not change the hardware of your phone. It is probably quadband, but that doesn't mean it has the correct band. It will not work on AT&T, maybe TMo, but I am not sure. It all comes down to hardware and SIM card, not so much ROM.
I have a LT18a Arc S that works on AT&T 3G here in the US. LT18i = international, LT18a = Americas (and possibly a hand full of other countries). I'm relocating to Singapore next month for a while, I have my fingers crossed that it will get 3G there. I can't seem to find what bands the Singapore carriers use. Then again I haven't really looked too hard. If it doesn't work, I'm sure I can find something over there worth buying.

In the end I used 4SE from simlock.com, they have a GEL and US variants, GEL=less bloatware, its Generic for Latin Americas.

MediaFire has a 200MB limit. I'm uploading to another site. Will update the first post once the links are available.
You can flash any build as long as you don't downgrade from v2.3.4 to a lower version (v2.3.3 or v2.3.2).

Download link updated.

mate bluechipj...
can I use this to downgrade my arc s LT18i? it is currently on android version 2.3.4,baseband 64, build number 4.0.2.A.0.62
i just want to have a root access.
my plan is to downgrade to .42, then root with zergrush exploit or iclick rooting and lastly update via OTA to .62 and hopefully the root access is still there.
do you think this will work out? Coz ive just read from your thread on LT15i that some people are able to do it with their arc. but here on arc s, still no feedback if somebody able to do it. any idea mate? thanks in advance

Short answer: yes.
OTA updates maintain root. Will update post #1.
Flash .42, root with zergRush, force an OTA update in Settings / About.

so my model number will become LT18a on .42, if i successfully updated OTA will it go back to LT18i on .62? and whats the real difference between LT18a and LT18i? yeah, literally its the a and the i w/c is america and international, but what I mean is the phone itself,. Is there some changes in the phone settings or any functions? coz im afraid that it wont work (i mean the basic function of calling, texting and data internet) here in my country in asia. can you pls make it clear for me. thank you very much
and btw, is there any technique or procedure to successfully updated via OTA? coz ive read that some people claims that OTA is not available on their phone and the system says its already updated.

Any chance i can get LT18i? I did a mistake in my phone n goes to bootloop, after that, i flash it with this LT18a (my mistake not make backup for the stock rom). I dont hv any problem with this rom, but i think i need the LT18i rom if want to get warranty... ( my phone root but with locked BL). Thanks in advance

Any firmware can be flashed onto any phone and everything will work, including data. (Will require manual setup of Settings / Wireless / Mobile Networks / APN. Or backup your existing settings with APN Backup and Restore: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.riteshsahu.APNBackupRestore&hl=en) All firmwares contain both software radios for "i" and "a". However, hardware radios are fixed. You cannot make an LT18a into an LT18i by flashing firmware or vice versa. However, an LT18i will still get "i" 3G in an "i" zone with an "a" firmware and vice versa.
As long as there is an update available for the firmware (which there is for USA .42), you can update over the air while maintaining root as long as you have not modified or removed any system files.
e.g. changed themes, fonts, notification bar, widgets, etc.
If you install an "a" firmware, it will continue to update to the next "a" firmware and vice versa.

I don't have any saved LT18i firmwares but there are many more of them all over the forum (Hong Kong, Nordic, UK, etc.)
Download Wotan Server (free) and flash one.

how can I create the .ftf file out of LT18a file that you upload. coz its in RAR file format and contains the files that supposed to be the content of .ftf?

General Note: There are now four official models of the Samsung Galaxy S outside the US: the GT-I9000 (International), GT-I9000M (Canada), GT-I9000B (Brazil), GT-I9000T (Mexico). All information in this FAQ is based on the GT-I9000 International version. Most of them also apply to the other models. The I9000M and I9000T are virtually identical to the I9000 and are mostly compatible with I9000 software. The I9000B has an added digital television receiver and is generally not as compatible. Please check carefully before starting to mess with the firmware on your device, check for possible compatibility issues beforehand and ALWAYS make sure you have three button recovery
IMPORTANT NOTES FOR I9000B:Ok guys, now is possible find more than one modded kerner for I9000B, but you must be careful, because many of them have a lot of bugs or are't fully tested. No 3G/GPRS/EDGE after flashing?
Is very common that after flashing a new firmware or kernel your device isn't conecting to 3G. WHY? Because many of the firmwares or kernels wipe all the user data includig de APN, wich contains the neccesary info to connect your device to 3G networks. But don't worry, this is not the end of the world. You could Add your APN confirgation just following this steps
1. Go to Settings
2. Go to Wireless and network
3. Then go to Mobile networks
4. You will find the Acces Point Names or APN were should be the info to connect to 3G, click here
5. After that, use the "phisical" button of menu
6. Choose New APN
7. Set the configurarion of your carrier/mobile network (This info could be found at carrier/mobile network web page or just simply googling)
8. Done! you have your SGS configurated
To prevent loose the APN data, exists many apps wich could help. One of them is APN Backup & Restore a simple FREE App to backup and restore APNs. Very usefull.
The are some devices that's not necessary to back up data or add the data again, just conecting to 3G will download and apply de data by itselfs.
Problem with SuperOneClick v1.5.5 ?
If you get stucked at any moment of the process, waiting days for getting mount path?
Here is a solution.
1. Turn on usb debugging
2. Turn off phone & plug into usb
3. Start SuperOneClick
4. When it says waiting for device, turn phone on and let SOC finish the job.
5. Enjoy root!

Sync Error
Hello, thanks for creating this topic. We were really needed it!
I bought an SGS in Brazil, operator Vivo, Android 2.1 (Eclair) and upgraded to the 2.2 Froyo (Live - ZVV) using Odin (no pit). Since then, I'm having problems with Orkut sync.
When orkut account is selected, "Feeds and Updates" widget always displays the error: "Service Unavailable".
Under Settings / Accounts and synchronization features: Synchronization error "Synchronization is currently having problems. They will return soon" and does not synchronize the contacts on orkut.
This has been more than a month, since when I have done several roms updates, using odin (including re-partition) and Kies.
The only thing that worked a while, was to create a new Orkut account (in fact, google account) but after a factory reset, stopped again.
Other SNSAccounts work well, I have no problems with Twitter to Facebook, only Orkut.
I posted here because I think Orkut is a SNSAccount available only in Brazil.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you!

What about this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=782686
Lots of related information there
try using Kies Registry patcher and choose ZTO for Vivo then update over Kies. I use to update my phone, mine was chilean Claro with Eclair. This is the official version of the operator and comes with Orkut
Is there any chance to have a ROM for Claro Mobile users which I suppose is ZTA? I´ve tried KIES and Kies Registry Patcher but got my SGS frozen if I choose ZVV and got "not available update" when using ZTA.
Thanks
Edited: I've finally made it. Using KIES and patch along ZVV spoof option. Now Froyo 2.2.
Personally I recommend I9000BVJJPD fw for updates, it is unbranded and the last version know, the firmwares from operators are too old (september, october, november).
Then root the phone and download "Uninstaller for root" from market, for delete some useless apps like "Braintest" or "Asphalt 5"
2.2 JPD
Yes, I am using this too. Works pretty well, and better than JPA. I had some wifi issues with JPA, magically solved in JPD.
There is a JPY which is a work-in-progress. So, JPD is the latest and greatest.

For brazilian users, yo can enter to androidz.com.br where a user (ffosilva) modified the kernell, so any ROM can work with the i9000b (the only thing that doesn´t work is the TV), for argentinian users (or from peru and chile) go to grupoandroid.com.
For example, I have my i9000b with a 2.2.1 JS3 (the last one) ROM "cooked" by me using the DOCs ROM Kitchen that is in development section

Guys, i update mine with froyo and lost 3G, i have TIM and CLARO chips, neither of them get 3G connections... just Gprs and Edge..
Also the signal got a little weird, for instance CLARO signal at my house gets weak and shows the message "EMERGENCY CALLS ONLY", if i use the same chip in another phone, gets FULL signal...
If anyone has the same problem or solution please contribute!
Thanks
P.s.: Sometimes in CLARO I get FULL signal and the emergency calls only message disappears, bur when I try to make a call, it says "DATA NETWORK UNAVAILABLE"

Help from changing VIVO froyo to unbranded froyo
I'm from Perú, and last month I upgraded to brazilian froyo (I9000B_JPA_JP3_JPA_JPA_VJ_ZVV_BRAZIL) using odin. With this version I am having issues with wireless and GPS. My question is how can I change to the unbranded version. I have lagfix and root installed. Do I have to undo the lagfix and the root first? Is it possible to install the unbranded version and don't lose the applications installed??
Please confirm

Updating to V2.1 on a locked phone

I am trying to unlock my x10a locked to ATT, I purchased the unlocking code but it seems that mi unlocking code cannot be found on the unlocking server.
They offered me the unlocking software which requires to be running android 2.1.
So the deal is that I don’t know what is the version that the cel is running, I will think is not 2.1, but I don’t know how to tell, so how can I update the cel to android 2.1 on a locked phone.
BTW I don’t have any ATT sim
PLS help!!!
flashtool will probably still work!

Does your lockscreen have and arc you have to swipe or a straight line at the bottom to unlock (like iPhone)?
If you have the arc swipe to leave lockscreen then you're on 1.6.
If you got the straight swipe line, then your on 2.1.
You can check your Android version by going to:
Settings>About Phone
And check what it says in the Firmware version field.
Yes I have the Arc so I'm on 1.6
I can't go to setting I can only do an emergency call.

Ahh yea the AT&T restrictions. Forgot about those, on generic firmwares you can boot up without a SIM in the phone.
Well you just have to flash a generic X10a firmware with FlashTool then.
To be safe get the X10a (2.0.A.0.504) firmware.
Not confirmed this myself, but I think going from 1.6 to 2.1 requires you initially flash 2.0.A.0.504 before any other 2.1 firmware (But I'm really not certain about this, so this is just a safety precaution on my part).
This can all be found in the FlashTool thread here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=920746
Then just flash that and then you'll be ready for your cable unlock.
Is there a matrix of FW releases??

Yea there is a lot, but if you checked my link you would see there is only 3 generic firmwares for each device (X10i & X10a) in the link.
ok arkedk thanks for the help, will download that and check if it helps.
Why flash old 2.0.A.0.504 firmware without dualtouch?
Here's a step by step guide for AT&T X10a users to update to the most recent global generic 2.1.A.0.435 firmware, which has dualtouch and will be certain to get the official 2.3.3 Gingerbread update directly from SE when available.

Told him to flash that because I remember someone long ago said that going from 1.6 to the latest 2.1 could cause problems. But was not certain on that so better safe than sorry. And either way he will be able to get 2.3 on 2.0.A.0.504 just aswell as on 2.1.A.0.435. This was just so he could get the device unlocked in the safest possible way I could recommend. He can always just connect the X10 to SEUS after he has unlocked, and then it will update him to the latest 2.1.A.0.435

That's the software the company provided me with.

Am i missing something here, but wont pc companion or seus put everyone on the latest official 2.1 version from se with no problems
Then he can unlock easy with flashtool.

So, download seus or pc companion from se website, instal and follow the instructions. You don't even have to be able to turn the phone on for it to work

Not any kit. If you want the bloatware branded ATT 2.1 firmware that limits data speeds and blocks apps from unknown sources. Also, most branded kits will not be getting the Gingerbread update.
What i seem to think his problem is is that he cant unlock on SETool because he is on 1.6 and that only works with stock 2.1
So he needs 2.1 on his phone which he is struggling with.
So, use official means to upgrade to the official 2.1, unlock using SETool, then use flashtool to root, install recovery and flash any firmware or custom rom he wants.
Why the worry about dual touch drivers etc etc.....once its rooted you can get rid of bloatware, easily flash generic firmware and receive 2.3 update....
I am confused as to why this poses a problem.

Enabling apps from unknown sources isn't as easy as rooting with ATT. Also, data is throttled down to 3G.
You even suggest flashing generic after updating via SEUS or PCC. Why add all these extra steps? This is xda. You can accomplish everything with global generic 2.1.A.0.435 firmware in about 5 minutes with the flash tool.
Well What I did was use Sony Ericsson Update Service, when I connected the phone it told me that there is a newer version so it updated it to firmware version 2.1-update1. So I was able to unlock the phone using multi unlock. Now to get the latest firmware which I understood it is 2.1.A.0.435 with Flash Tool.
Can I go straight from 2.1-update1 to 2.1.A.0.435?
And a last question a generic firmware means that I won’t have all those useless ATT apps on my phone?
Thanks for the help

Yea a generic firmware is one without any branded apps, special setup or limited features.
The latest generic was released for the German generic kits an has build version 2.1.B.0.1. You can find it in my signature.
What do you mean by German generic kits?
I apologize to be a pain but I just getting in the android world.

All Sony Ericsson devices is sold in different regions and has a region specific code. That code determines if your region is eligible for an update (Sony Ericsson rolls out their updates in regions).
Some regions gets updates that others don't get, that's the case with the 2.1.B.0.1, this firmware was only released to the German "kits".
Not a pain at all, we all have to start somewhere
Ok then I will go to 2.1.B.0.1, hopefully I won’t screw up my phone since this is the first time doing this

I've tried that but with no result. I tried flashing all the ROMs that I had at that time with no luck! Glad that it works for you though
I can't fix the issue until I flashed C5303 Baseband (Generic SG, my own FTF), and resulted in stuck at C5302 Indian 12.1.A.1.201 (not receiving 12.1.A.1.205). Compilation of Indian FTF may have tons of issue, as USA C5302 FTF does work perfectly on my C5303.

I guess different variants of Xperia SP have different basebands. So you can't fix the issue until you flash its own baseband. Correct me if I'm wrong.
And I don't know about the difference in FTFs of different regions. I've used only Indian FTFs so far.

I wish it is, but I saw a C5302 user flashing Indian .207 update for C5302 and got the same problem.
Also it's pretty weird that my SP (C5303) flashing USA .201 and .205 for C5302 HSPA+ works perfectly with no baseband problem. While both can't run when I flash Indian C5302. More like compilation have issue because with USA and SGP FTF (SGP is mine), verification is automatically disabled while Indian version is enabled. Based on what I saw when tryingbto compile FTF, any Android version after 4.0.x, will have to disable verification checks while compiling and also when flashing. I disabled verification check while flashing Indian C5302 FTF manually and it fails every time. Maybe it's time for fix, as if this continues it'll annoy darn lots of users because of baseband issue and thus SIM not detected.
P.S. Sorry for long post. Just to get my point across clearly as far as I can.

BaseBand Fix.zip from step from above contains 2 folders (System and META-INF); What do you do with either this zip file or its contents. For sure it does not go into the firmwares folder (since it is not picked up by the flashtool). The same thing goes for the alternate method of step 4; placing that in the firmwares folder yields nothing - it is not listed in the flashtool thereafter. I have the latest version of the tool and also the version prior to that. Please say what I am doing wrong because obviously I am doing something crazy

You shouldn't really install this anyway.
I've said this in another thread, but if you flash the wrong firmware you can effect your baseband and each ROM also has different settings depending on your region. Like some might use "LTE" and some might use "4G". There's also other changes such as if fast dormancy is enabled or disabled, so you really should wait and install the correct ROM for your device.
I'm waiting for the generic UK version to be updated. It's odd though that T-Mobile's was released before it since the generic version doesn't have to go through the same network checks and customization.
Not true - In the UK all networks have to authorise or approve the update before it can be released to Generic devices

The generic update doesn't need anything from the network providers as it's downloaded from Sony servers. It just has to pass certification.
None of the UK network providers put out the generic update over their network. There's nothing to customize and it doesn't depend on them. Think about it. If Sony had to wait for all of them to approve the update then it wouldn't be released for months because they would all hold off giving it the go ahead until their network specific versions were ready.
Most of the time the updates are released in whatever order Sony feels like giving them out in. Before it was the generic version, O2 and Vodafone with the rest to follow and now it's as if it's gone in the opposite order.

NFC, LTE icons and option to convert diacritic marks into normal characters (when you use diacritic marks SMS can contain only 70 characters; this option will convert for example word żółw into zolw so you have 160 character SMS back).

The UK uses EURO-LTE, which uses a different baseband file. Here in the UK it's called 4G and not LTE, so although it might appear to work it's still going to give you the wrong network icons and options. That can result in people complaining about poor battery life and other such issues.

As do I, which is why I think you're confusing certification with approved provider specific firmwares.
Network providers only have to approve of their own custom firmwares. They'll check the settings, branding and include any bundled apps. They don't have to do that with the generic firmware though because it's not designed for their version of the device. So the generic firmware is certificed (safe and works on the networks) and then that's enough for it as Sony distributes that update. The network providers already know what's included in the update because it's exactly the same as their own version but without all of the branding and crap.

Hello. I have a Xperia Z1 with KK and root. After doing wipe data and cache wipe, I installed the ROM from recovery. The ROM I had copied from the PC to microSD (SD card1 that). But the procedure only lasts 2-3 sec. At the restart I am still with KitKat, only with a factory reset. What is wrong?
Any chance of you building the [.270 ] version for the 6906?
I am from Canada and can't find it anywhere... On Rogers with locked bootloader. Any help is appriciated.

[F8331] Change stock firmware for a better LTE signal

Hi everybody,
I'm new here, I have bought my first sony (used) but I notice that the LTE signal is so poor specially indoor. The seller hasn't saw me that the firmware is an UK fw also I live in italy, infact, after a little research, I noticed that there is a carrier's app called EE and the fw version installed is of EE carrier's. The phone is sim unlock. There isn't root and I haven't unlook the bootloader.
My questions are:
- Can I change the stock uk firmware putting in an Italian stock firmware?
- Can I change it without root and without unlook the bootloader?
- How?
- Is there a guide that I can follow?
- Can I change the CSC for preserve the ota upgrade? How? I'd like to change fw preserving OTA update.
I don't wanna unlock the bootloader and root the phone cause I don't want lose the DRM licenses (widevine specially). I'm not interested to rooting or make any modding.
I'd like to put a stock room without bloat apps and with a strong lte signal.
Here the Info about the phone:
F8331
Android 8.0
Phone Software Version: 1302-9157_41.3.A.2.171
Global-LTE3A
Generic-41.3.a.2.171

You can flash any region's firmware without unlocking the bootloader. You need Xperifirm to download the firmware, and Flashtool to flash it.

Since it's an official firmware, you always get updates OTA (i think XZ will no longer get updates but no need to worry). I didn't see any guide to flash, i'll probably today write a guide to flash firmwares.
