Progress on Ftp client. - KIN One and Two General

Recently, i found the "ftp client" on the service menu, and thought "hey, i have an old ftp server i could try this with!". I tryed and, was able to download AND upload to the phone. looking through the fourm, i saw that someone has tryed this before, but went nowhere with it.
then i had an idea,
what if we put a file on the phone that records nearby directorys, saves it to a log (named something perdicable), and then we upload it off and look through the logs. this would give us a "map" of the phone.
What i want to know is, can such a file be created, executed, and create a log on the phone.
btw, i used the "original kin os" (R+B+Power)

Microsoft My Phone - Walkthrough

Hi,
Luckily i got my hands on an invitation code for My Phone beta. Check out a walk-through of My Phone via screenshots at: http://xperiancer.blogspot.com/2009/02/microsoft-my-phone-in-action.html
It is simply the best backup solution out there for Windows Mobile devices. Could include a couple of configuration options, but overall a perfect solution!
Best Regards.
Salman Khalid.
bad linky mate

Ah... sorry for that. Corrected it.
yay i just received my invitation for MyPhone!
Any kind one that would like to invite me?
apparently the MS Team is posting promotional codes on their twitter account
http://twitter.com/msmyphone
You could try that one, or sign up and register your interest and i am sure they will send you...that's what i did
how to get into My Phone
yeah just sign into the site and be put on the waiting list, only a day for me to get accepted.
It's good enough but saves all the images in the my pictures folder, you specify individual files, cant backup any files from sd card and it cant backup windows live contacts only phone contacts directly added to the device or through outlook. Space on the beta is 200mb for backup, which is plenty if it can only backup certain places on the device.
That's my experience so far.
my phone cab file
hi . i just wanted to upload this file because i was looking for it and couldn't find it now i finaly got it so i want everybody to enjoy it
I would never put a backup on my personal data on the internet... Why not using a backup software and restore from the sd card ?
i received my invitation and i cant connect to the sync server, thats what it says, only once of thousands i tried said the ID doesnt match,
Anyidea what it could be?
do they need some time to update files?
should i wait?
I tried w the english and spanish version, and they seem totally the equal.
not impressed at all this doesn't sync it replaces from web account to phone
just a note to add: if get error message about syncing it will be because your clock is wrong and needs to be changed to the proper time
after flashing a new rom, i start setting up my phone again, connect it to Outlook, and then sync MyPhone, i end up with duplicates of all my contacts.. any solution?

Someone please recommend me a decent email client

I tried bluetoothing an mp3 over to my phone to set as a ringtone, that doesn't want to work, so I thought no problem, I can just email it.
The only option I have is to open the mp3, no option to save it.
Earlier a friend sent me an email with jpgs in it, couldn't open them or even see them as attachments.
So please, all I want is a decent mail client like the WinMo one, but with the ability to connect to two exchange accounts.
Does one exist?
I can't offer any real help with the email client as I'm very happy with the native Android one. You can try K9, available free on the Market, but I can't say whether it will resolve your problem or not.
However, if you want a simple way to copy files over to your phone, without going down the USB route, try Dropbox. It's free to open an account and get the software running on your PC (you get 250MB with a free account - I think. Could be more.) There's also an Android client - again free.
Here's the order of things I do to get a file on my phone if I can't be arsed going getting a USB cable.
I copy the file on my PC into the folder "\My Dropbox\Android" ("My Dropbox" is the Dropbox folder that you can have anywhere you like on your PC. Android is a sub-folder so I know what's in there.)
Open Dropbox on my phone and navigate to the file
Long-hold on the file and select "Download"
It's that easy. The file is now in the folder \sdcard\Dropbox\Android on my phone.
Incidentally, if you do go for Dropbox, every time you refer someone to it and they sign up using a link created for you (with a referrer ID in it), you get an extra 250MB of space free. It goes up to 10GB, which I'm happy to say I have
I hope this helps mate.
Thanks for replying John
Managed to get the file rebooting into WM and saving it from there, but I wouldn't be able to do that for my work account (WM is only set up for my exchange server at home) under android, and drop box isn't an option as I can't ask my boss/colleagues/clients to use it just so I can view a file they've already emailed out.

[Q] synchronization with my own cloud

I'm trying to add a synchronization function to my app which will work like this :
I want it to be login free, so no new account will be needed.
The data will be assigned to the user's google account on which he's logged in.
On server side, there will be a mySQL database wich will hold the user's data.
I didn't find a useful tutorial. This one uses some weird servlet or whatever, and the official google tut is very briefly explained.
Could anyone help me ?
halp meh plz
I was also trying to find a tutorial for something like this a while ago. Theres not much out there. Seems need to know how to write your own server side code to handle the synchronising and then communicate with the app through https or whatever.
Well, that doesn't help me very much. I know php/mySQL as well. I could imagine synchronization through xml - like implementing a function that would create an xml file from my database, upload it to the server and parse it/put it my online database.
This would be useful, if I only wanted to be able to modify data on one end - the phone - but then it wouldn't be called syncing, rather backup.
Or maybe I could request a similar xml file from the server. I think it should be possible to send some kind of query from the device to the server which would call a function that creates an xml file from database entries and then download the created file, parse it, compare with the device's database and update the database if some file was updated (it's 'last edited' time was changed).
So on each sync cycle I would first get the server-side xml file, update the local DB, then create the xml file from local DB, send it to the server and update the online DB. Only files with newer "last edited" time would be updated.
What do you think ?
Who the hell if not you, guys, can help me ?
bumpity bump

ftp picture transfer with auto resize

I may have missed it by possibly no searching the correct wording but here is what I am looking for / hoping for.
I would like to take pictures from my EVO and instead of uploading them to picasa I would like to upload to a FTP server I have at home or office.
Then of course once in FTP server in a "pending" folder have them resized then moved into a folder named according to day of the week etc. But here is the kicker.
On the EVO when trying to upload to say picasa, you can choose a caption but not a way to rename the file itself. which is what I am looking for. I want to be able to take a picture of some required pictures for a job I am doing then when taking the picture and choose the FTP server have it prompt for a name. then upload that picture with that picture now being named what I choose and put then in a temporary folder which then of course on the FTP server (ubuntu most likely) will resize it to something of a reasonable size I choose and be then put into a different folder.
Any ideas or suggestions? I am kind of at a loss as to what would do something like this.

[Q] How to Find/Delete all data create by App?

Hi Guys (and Girls),
I'm trying to help a friend with a specific problem. She has an account (Badoo) which was blocked by Badoo; a friend used her account and abused it, and the result is that her account is blocked. Badoo refuses to unblock it. Even worse, when she creates a new account it is also blocked almost immediately, effectively making it impossible for her to use Badoo.
So, I try to help her with this - also because I like the technical challenge here. I've found out that if I create a new account, it stays active; but the moments she starts using it, it is blocked quite rapidly. Reason: they recognise her from before. It is not related to userid, name, email adress or any of the data uploaded. So, my only conclusion is that there must be *something* on her phone that is found; and the help file they have online suggest they install 'persistant tracking cookies' on mobiles.
Uninstalling the App does not work. So, there must be SOME files somewhere that are NOT deleted after uninstalling; and the moment you reinstall, they are found and the account is blocked (at least, that is my reasoning).
I've tried writing a small App to find something, but cannot find any way to do this. The way I understand it, all files created on Android should be linked to the App (so should have owner/groupid linked to the App). I therefore think it should be possible to find any files installed by an App, and just remove them. I was afraid they would be in the /data/data/... folder, but it looks like that folder is cleaned after uninstalling, so they are probably somewhere on the SD-card.
I expect a wipe of the phone will sort everything out, but unfortunately that is not an option.
Anybody has any idea how to proceed with this?
I would be interested to know the answer to this also!
