[BLACKLIST] What will cause lag on your games. + RAM friendly replacements

Sleepy Jack caused lag when there were lots of enemies. Also, when I played a few of the games you listed after a fresh reboot, there were no lags as well. However, if I kept the phone on for like 2-3 days and tried to play the same games again, they would lag. Are you running odexed or deodexed rom at the moment?

what rom exactly are you on? i hope there will be an ics cm9/miui for that.

What rom base are you using? 2.2.1 or 4.03? I left gingerbread out because it can't play games without lags.
And I'm looking forward to testing out your rom since GTA always lags regardless of what ro I use.

You will able to play it better than froyo. It will be stock JVU value pack rom and I will update it insantly when new roms come.
And rom will be RFS and no EXT4 support because EXT4 causes CPU overheads and this producing lag on games.

Ok trying now I will make a video for all games. Rom will be odexed. You don't need to restart the phone for playing games.
Now trying a new script named "gaming mode" by me.
This script force closes most of things before launching game even status bar.

Oye! Great idea. What about closing stuff like gmaps, gmail, gtalk with that scripts??btw, also can that script automatically move to some of the higher frequencies of the processor. Like 800-1000 when u r on stock kernel.

I've never noticed much improvement after converting to EXT4 anyway, apart from the higher but insignificant quadrant scores.
By the way, the JVU rom has very high ram usage, and that might interfere with the gaming performance.

I'm trying all with terminal but looks like I need a big help.
I can close all apps with terminal even haptic feedback. But how can I restart them after closing game again with scripts?
I think we can make a interface that stores high end game list to launch.
With launching a game this will launch script too and after a few sec delay game will work.
And other problem is how can this program or script detect the game is closed to restart closed process.
If we can do this we can use all widgets live wallpapers and high end games on our phone!

Hmmm.....need to do some research on that, but u can do one thing, specifically mention those games process names . And then the script can specifically get activated when any of these processes starts( we launch a game) and as soon as we KILL the process the script also gets deactivated.
U can take pikachu's help. I have exams so I am busy these days.

I will work a little bit more.
Tested bang bang racing and sleepy jack works perfect. No microlags.

You have to do the same like apple with ios. Not multithreading or multitasking, you have to make a script or rom or whatever, that concentrates only on one task/thread/or whatever it is called.
Someone posted it here already
Thats why fruit ninja is also laggy, if you slide with your finger, you arent as fast as on a ipod touch with 412mhz. Thats ****, but we have to live with that :/
Otherwise, get an iPhone

Blood & glory lags big time on darky 10.2... See how this runs on your ROM?

Video is coming!

Just don't change the stock appearence of the rom.

Gta3 is the best app to **** up the phone with lags ( my opinion )

hows unreal engine game on hd2 android?

I tried out the new game called Dungeon Defenders the first wave
its the first game using unreal engine on android and I used darkstone's superram
its really laggy
will there be anyway to make it run smooth or is this hd2's hardware limitation?
p.s/
anyway my personal opinion to superRAM.. is bad..only good thing about it is the booting speed. May I know why you guys call it super fast other then booting speed? because the previous rom I used, I used launcher pro and if I use launcher pro everything looked hyper fast, and I thought it would be hyper-hyper fast on superram but it was the same, so I was like.. ok.. then let me try live wall paper and speed. but it was same like previous rom choppy when opening application box. In other words nothing different.( but for quadrant score it scored higher then last rom) however game ran slower, like zenonia 3
previous rom ran without slowing down of speed but on this rom it is unplayable.
i am changing it.. No offense please.. its just my personal experience..

I thought it was tolerable. I am also using superRAM. I suspect the lag is due to the lack of RAM for the game. Maybe you should disable the RAM boot? I suspect that would improve the game performance and maybe overclock it to above 1Ghz. I am lazy to change my ROM again.
Use moto touch 4G Rom its best for 3d games nenamark 20.5, while superman I get 15.4
yeah dungeon defenders a bit laggy i use mdj froyo hd revo 1.2 with hastarin 8.6.
even oc to 1228 still lags a bit

Ye you are right, on ram builds only the navigating on the device is super fast, but graphics etc are choppy, like there is some display driver missing.. at least it felt that way last time i checked.. but the idea of ram builds is great. the disadvantage is, that you can only use an ugly no features builds for now :/
can anyone make a video to show us how laggy the game on HD2 is?
I tested it in Mdeejay 4.6 HD it was awesome. But in Gingerbread rc5 it lagged

i'm intrested too.. i've mdj gingerbread cyanogen mod 7 based v2.6 on nand (very very very great ROM)... but dungeon defenders is unplayable.. like 10 fps.. i'd know if it's my problem or it's normal... can someone post a video with a "game-friendly" Rom?
i know that HD2 has all the requierments to run great!
Dugeon defenders will never run fine or ok on the hd2, walking around and stuff is ok(about 10-15 fps thats what i guess the game runs about) but as soon as monsters come close to you its slows to a crawl 4-5 fps, the adreno 200 is just not powerfull enough to handle dungeon defenders, after all its the crapiest of all mobile gpus(with open gl es 2.0 support). if you whant to run dungeon defendr at a playable frame rate get ether an sgs(best choice of currrent phone until tegra 2 based phones come out) or any omap cpu based phones ie: cliq2, driod, milestone etc etc. btw out of topic but, the new Modern Combat 2 Black pegasus game, runs awesomely great on the snapdraogn devices, id say around 40-45 fps. so yea if you got some bucks buy it.

Gaming on the Epic

I feel like a big part of some of us getting the Epic was the fact it had an excellent Gpu and would make a great gaming device. Now that its out and we have our froyo, I think its a good time to start a thread about gaming on our phones. I think we should post vids of games running on our phones and share it with the world so they can see how powerful our phones really are. Im going to start getting a bunch of games and recording it, listing whether im overclocked or not and what rom i was running at the time. Feel free to add you own videos and comments
Heres a few to start off with: I will try to update regularly. Im also open to suggestions
Modern Combat 2: Black Pegasus - Midnight rom v5.1 - no overclock

Zelda 64 OOt running on N64oid - ACS rom(dont remember which one ) - no overclock

New Vids: 4-10-11
Metal Gear Solid PSX running on Fpse - Midnight rom v5.1 - overclocked to 1.3 ( runs the same at 1 ghz)

I converted my phone to ext 4, I am able to play perfect dark longer without too many crashes, and goldeneye is smoother at 1.3ghz. still testing between kernels to see which is best..
You can probably use the video option of the shoot me app to record the game directly from your phone. Probably get better vid quality

really.. i was looking for a video capture app. ill check it out. thanks
just tried it.. it works ok.. but the videos arent smooth so you cant really get the full affect of the game
I think the way you are going it now is good, shows how the controls work with the on-screen controls.
ok so F Zero (n64oid) at 0 frame skips with SFR ext 4 and Vision Kernel 1.0 (set at 1.3ghz on demand, performance and 1.4ghz crashes on me) runs really well.
also, Goldeneye is now playable! , still choppy here n there, but much much less than before. it does depend on your rom, I tried a few other goldeneye roms from before. I dont think this site lets me post it up so...
the dump is located in this forum under Xperia Play, be sure to download it. Downloading mine right now, hopefully we can use their PSX emu, games, etc.
Also with Goldeneye and Pdark, the games tend to make the emu crash or become frozen. My kernel didnt like it either so had tons of data corruption I think, just switched back to twlight kernel. If your phone can handle the vision kernel, then use that for gaming..
Goldeneye doesn't really crash for me but it gets REALLY slow after a certain point.. as for psx, I've been using FPSE and it works pretty dam good. I've been playing metal gear solid perfectly.. controls are a little tricky at first though

Even half a year from now, the Epic will still be near the top tier of phone hardware. There are actually games out there that run well ONLY on phones with the Epic's specs. Market reviews will show you that pretty quickly.

(Q) Best recovery/ROM to Speed up ??

Hi everyone!
I'm using some different android devices (Xperia X10, Galaxy S, HTC HD2, Motorola Milestone), and I noticed the HD2 was the SLOWEST of them, when playing games!
I'm usually playing some different games to try the device or specific ROM speed, usually it's Gangstar Miami Vice (this game needs a lot of power, then..)
And I wonder why my HD2 takes so much time to boot up the game, and why so many lag ingame (even with same microSD than my other devices!)..
Is it because of the ROM ? The recovery (partition layer)? (does the 150/250/400M changes some power?) Or I wonder what else..?
Thanks for your answers!
im guessing its the 'faulty' graphic drivers from htc dating back in the winmo days...
it may be something else though...
by the way, wrong section
Maybe I'm wrong, but is the gaming on WP7 not faster than Android?
Are not there other guys like me that have tried games on Android and think it's very slow??
Up, please!
I really would like to enjoy a efficient speed on my HD2. . =D
keep waiting and be patient... the devs are still working hard to port the phone to android, its not completed, yet

Try overclocking your device. It does a trick with my phone.
hm my hd2 is realy fast and the actually roms are very nice too...
I don't know but just some examples:
When playing any games (Need for Speed Shift, Miami Vindication, Bruce Lee, Worms, Quake 3,.. ), all games are lagging, sometimes much, sometimes a bit, but always lagging. Some games are even freezing! (Miami Vindication).
Which overclocking software should I use with the HD2 ??
And what data should I enter?
Thanks!

Judging from your results you only checked one result. Search again overclocking. Try some different tags. Most importantly, don't always rely on someone.

Six guns for u8800

i install it today in my cell phone but the game is playing too much slow and when i saw it on desire hd it runs smoth i m confused that there hardware are the same but way the game dosent run smoth .
It runs smooth on my phone, Oxygen rom and 800mhz Cpu, when it has to much movement, sometimes has a bit of lag, but its a problem that its solved easily, just put the Cpu at 1000mhz, and it rolls just fine
what version of the rom is that u have

[Q] i9505 lagging on heavy games

My phone was lagging on heavy games such as Dead Effect, End of tomorrow and asphalt 8. My phone also lags on 2d games such as virtual city (heavy volume objects). I thought that s4 was a good phone but now I had a bad impression in gaming.
Anyway, I am using Phoenix rom v8.
I have no idea if the "rom" affects the game because of some scripts or is it just my phone. I really have no idea what was causing.
Is it because of ext2sd? Greenify?
I optimize the ram before I play and see if 50% of ram and below is available.
I am a noob? Yes.

Sounds like it may be the DVFS introduced by Samsung that a lot of people have problems with. There is a way of disabling this, check the link below.

Thank you so much!! To be honest, I didn't know it was the cause of bottleneck. I tested some games including the ones I mention and yeah, it was awfully working now as it is..
