Sync with Sharepoint Lists and Shared Outlook Calendar - Nexus S General

Hello all. I have a user who just got a Nexus S, and we are trying to get his Exchange stuff synced. The problem we are having is that he uses Sharepoint lists to share contacts in his department. His old blackberry had desktop software that could sync these, but I cannot find a way to do it with the Nexus. I have tried the Kies software, however it is not working, I suspect because it is a pure Google phone.
Does anyone know of some software I could get that will sync his contacts?
In additon, he is sharing calendars through outlook, is there a way to get these multiple calendars to sync?
Thanks,
Brennan

Has anyone found a solution for this, or have any ideas of sync methods?

I think this is a limitation of active sync rather than of the mobile device, isn't it?
Been a while since I looked into it, but we have iPhones at work with the same limitations and I couldn't find a way round it at the time.

Yes, this is a limitation. There isn't a way to sync SharePoint and mobile devices directly. There are some apps for Android (e.g. SharePlus) that might work to access the content.
We have been working on an Outlook add-in that syncs SharePoint, Outlook, Exchange. Using ProperSync, users can sync contacts and calendars to their Outlook folders. The items are then distributed to mobile phones via Exchange.
Hope that is helpful.
*Disclaimer - I am part of the ProperSync team and hope this has been a relevant and helpful posting.

Syncing poutlook to an online calendar/contact manager?

Is anyone here managing their contact or calendar via an online solution such as Kiko or Gmail?
I've tried many different solution and none seem really convenient. Gmail contacts won't sync with the universal unless you go through outlook as an intermediary, losing some of the data in the process (gmail groups are not recognized by outlook).
I'm just looking for something that's convenient and works. I intend to use my universal as the only 'offline' source of info + an online repository, but no desktop solution (as I'm always on the go and don't use a desktop).
TIA!
I'm going to partially update my own post:
This tool:
http://www.pocketinformant.com/products_info.php?p_id=sync&dir=wm
seem to sync plaxo contacts to a pocket pc. That's a start. Does anyone knows anything similar?
I use Airset for my online calendar, but I sync it to my desktop outlook. They do have a java thingy for mobiles though, and the tmobile MDA Vario and SDA.
I've not tried that, but I'd imagine it keeps everything in the applet, rather than hooking up with wm5 calendar. Could be worth a look though.
I think I might have found a solution to my problem.
Apparently Yahoo Mail supports intellisync, which syncs straight to the PDA from the online repository (notes, calendar and contacts apparently)
That's exciting stuff, especially with the new Yahoo mail beta that's going on (much better interface, 1gig of space).
As an extra bonus Yahoo mail also supports plaxo sync (gmail doesn't)
I'll give it a try and will let you know.
Right, didn't work either. Now I think my last option is a hosted exchange service with a web interface.
... which I did and it works wonders. Seems to be the only solution out there for the people looking forward to rid of the dated 'desktop-centric' paradigm.
So now I got gmail address -> 4smartphone , using gmail as a spam filter. When replying the emails I send appear to come from my gmail account, rather than the forwarding address (brilliant!).
So far I've only tried to sync over wire, which worked great (minus a few quirks here and there but nothing dreadful).
It's brilliant and cost only a few quids a month.

Sync contacts from home PC but calandar and mail from work exchange server?

Hi
I was just wondering if it possible to sync my contacts from my home PC using Outlook and my calandar and mail from my works Outlook exchange server on the HD2.
I am a current iPhone user and am interested in moving over to the HD2 as it looks like an awsome phone. I can do the above on the iPhone but can't find any information as to wheather this is possible on the HD2. Searched the forums but can't find an answer!
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Many Thanks
I don't see why this wouldn't be possible.
You can select to only link (via Exchange) your calendar and mail, I've done this. Then you just need to configure Activesync or Mobile Device Center to sync your contacts with Outlook.
Yes you can, a friend of mine has it set up that way. As Nighthawk said, it's just a case of configuring the sync right (you just have to tick boxes, so nothing challenging there!)
Dont know whether it helps, but I use an excellant app called Chronobis which allows me to pull (one way) my calendar from my work exchange server. It will also handle email & contacts.
I'm using this as I dont want to mix my home outlook contacts & calendar which I sync with Active Sync with my work stuff.
So I sync normally with Activesync and then download my work calendar which merges with my HD2 calendar... when I do an activesync... both work and home calendars are then together in Outlook.
I think in your situation you will be fine as you are not trying to "merge" contacts and calendars from 2 places at the same time.
Brilliant, thanks for your replies guys.
Yes this can be done, i do this with two exchange servers, one from my work and the other my gmail account.
Basically i sync my calendar and contacts with both and only sync my email from work.
I did this on my polaris and now on my hd2. Initially i wasn't too sure if the the hd2 would do this natively so i went with the regitry hack i used on my polaris. Perhaps someone could confirm that this can be done on the hd2 without the registry hack.
Here is the link to what i did with my polaris (and now my hd2).

Sync with Outlook?

Not sure if this is the correct part of Forum.
what is the most reliable way to sync outlook with android phone?
I know that you can sync outlook with google calendar, and then android, but that is no ideal, i don't want to sync it google online service.
I also found an app that sync from outlook to some weird office app on andorid, and the date still is not visible though native android apps.
Checks if this helps you!

Best way to migrate data from WM6.5 to Froyo

Hi all.
With the hopeful impending arrival of my DHD, I am keen to know the best way to migrate my contacts, calendar etc to Froyo.
I know I can sync my activesync to sync with Google, but is that the best way?
I want to maintain as much as I can if possible....
oggsync does fairly good to sync contacts and calendar, but some features missing unless you use the paid version.
another alternative (free as long as you have Outlook in your PC):
activesync to desktop outlook -> export to csv from desktop outlook -> use Import feature in the gmail website -> let the data sync from google account to handset.
grateful if somebody could give an advice re tasks. the Task feature of gmail doesn't support recurrent task, and hence absolutely not my choice. Astrid looks good enough on Android, but seems i must manually re-enter all outstanding tasks.
The best way is
On WM6.x use Exchange Server from Google using the google account that you are going to use on Android, and then in Android use that google email account and everything will transfer to android. Simple as that...
thanks for your advice.
you mean this Google Sync service?

EDIT: trying it now. it's handy. thanks!
What I did, was export all my contacts and appointments, and then imported them into my Gmail account. Then synced when I was within Android on my HD2.
Works very well.
cool thread this
i have my contacts backed up on WMDC, but my phone is now dead is there any way to get them from WMDC or microsoft outlook to the DHD

Synch Android w/ Multiple PCs

Tried to search on this but the terms are so generic, I didn't have much luck.
Is there a way to set up two partnerships with my Android phone, so that I can have contacts from work on my phone and home machine, but keep my personal contacts synchronized from my home Outlook private and out of my machine at work?
In other words, I want to synchronize some, but not all, groups, based on the desktop.
Thanks in advance.
Are you running Outlook at work too, keeping your contacts in separate folders (one being personal and the other work related on your home computer), if so do you have your contacts on your phone setup identifying the differences as well? How can your phone move files, can they be fed directly ibro Outlook or are they transferred as a csv file? Worse case you use one Gmail and Live accounts to sync and the Live accounts to sync with your two Windows computers. I have gotten creative when it comes to getting the information I need to me from my computer at another location regardless of what operating system it is. Gmail, Live and Cox accounts are great storage accounts and servers.
If you still need help and haven't found a solution I could help you out, it would just be easier if I knew the details of your current syncing program (if any), its capabilities (if it interfaces directly with Outlook or creates csv files) and any thing else you use to transfer your files.

Sorry, should have included the information you ask about.
Running Outlook 2007 on both desktops. It was my plan to use HTC Sync. I do have my work contacts categorized into their own group, so if there's a way to synchronize only specific groups by desktop, that would be ideal.
Bump. Still looking for a solution.
Ping. Nobody has feedback on this?
