[Q] Hardware Button Backlight - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Hi!
Does someone know a way/app to enable the backlight of the hardwarebuttons on the bottom of the device all the time when the display is on, or even better, in cooperation with the brightness-sensor?
Allready searched but couldn't find anything. Im on Typhoon CM7 (2.3.7)

Hello, search for AdjBrightness or Keyboard backlight controller in the Market.

Thanks. Tried both apps, and both are able to turn them on, but just for some seconds.
Maybe I'll find another solution, but this apps don't work.

At first you need a ROM with CyanogenMod.
Look at the link. Do what there stand. But change the value for "Buttons" in each line to 255 . Look at attached pic. If you have questions pm me.

XDA Exec - lightbulb button

Is this supposed to do anything?
If you have the "power off after..." option set, then you can switch it back on again with that button. Other than that, I'm not sure it has a purpose.
Cheers,
Steve.

I've got my Exec setup to switch off the screen backlight after a short delay when on battery. Pressing the lightbulb button switches the backlight on again.
If you don't set your exec to switch off the backlight, then I can see why this button won't be massively useful for you.
Read the threads on how to assign apps to the lightbulb button, to make it useful.

Got that set - but the button doesn't do anything for me. I'll try the reg hack version that's in this thread and see if it then works.

I believe you should try searching in tweaks and hacks...
There is one i have been using for few days its: Display Switch
Just by clicking it, the display screen goes off.
Hope that helps...

Would have been great if you could use the "Search" function before posting something. This application has been specified in numerous places.

This doesn't work, or solve the problem I think. It only works when you switch the screen off by pressing the app, not by the actual power button

You are right, it only works if you switch off the screen by hitting the short cut. I am still looking for a solution with the physical off button.

Same issue here. Friend with same situation also did a factory reset, which didn't help.

other than using the power button to turn it on, and crossing my fingers that this will get re-enabled in Android 4.5/5 around July/August, no :/
Also annoyed that the auto-brightness+ setting is now gone, but that at least was fixable through the Lux app.
Brightness button did not disappear on mine. Sprint S4
Any solution for the home button?
It's a world wide issue with all tw KitKat updates.

Couple alternatives. Wanam with Xposed could fix it. Also, a different launcher would let you set it too.

Thx bud,
I don't think that the prob is from the launcher, as it doesn't work with other launchers neither (I don't use TW, also it is working normally with s-view cover opened).
I have Wanam with xposed, but don't find any option like that... could you help me out? Thx a lot!
I found another strange issue, don't know if you have it , too. If I deactivate auto-unlock when I open s-view cover, it still unlocks when I open it... even after restart.
Edit: Found the solution for other issue: Nils Notification was set to always unlock when cover opened, nothing to do with rom... My fault

In Wanam, under System, there is a section for Long Home key behavior, can you not, Launch S Voice from there?
I use Google Now, and this is how I launch that.
As for S-view, I can't help with that, I dont have that.

What ROM are you using? Try looking for 'Volume Panel Timeout' or something like that in Sound Settings.

Sorry, I've switched to a custom ROM months ago so no longer know where that option is in MIUI. Hope someone else using stock helps you out. :fingers-crossed:
