[Q] Help with data traffic disabled icon? - Xperia Play General

Hi all,
Just got my Xperia Play, and it's not rooted or anything (don't plan on it yet)
and my phone shows an icon all the time that when the status bar is pulled down, it says "data traffic is disabled" and it only goes when my 3G data is on, even when I'm on wi-fi already!
Anything I'm doing wrong?
Thanks in advance!

Its normal. Its just a indication of your service provider data 2g or 3g. When u turn your operator data on, it will be gone. Nothing to do with wifi

Roaming mode

Hi there, I've noticed that my phone is always in Roaming mode, ie an R is showing in the signal bars icon. It's really not affecting my phone , because I know that I am not roaming, I am connected to my operator (Claro Honduras) . But I wonder what this is all about (maybe because I am not on T-Mobile) , or if there is a way to fix it. Also because of that I have to keep my Data Roaming setting ON, or I won't be able to access my data plan.

Signal bar showing "R " ROAMING?

am using att with nexus s. However the signal bar keeps showing "R " even I am certain that the phone is on att network. Anyone has an idea why? I UV tried switching networks manually and no help. And periodically the signal bars gray out and I hv to manually select network again....
Any help will be appreciated. Thx

Data usage going through wifi or carrier/network?

Just a quick question.
When wifi is turned on and the H/G/3G icon disappears, all data/internet/services are going through wifi rather than the carrier network?
am I correct in saying that.
Thanks, it's for when I go on holiday and for a friend who's on holiday atm.
I think it uses wifi and when that is weak or absent it switches to 3G.

If you want to be sure turn data off with something like APnOnOff.

Yes you're correct.
But if you pay per megabyte you should install some kind of monitor application, like 3G watchdog to keep track of your 3G usage.
And when abroad you can easily turn off 3G data from the power button menu.

[Q] MT4G doesn't have 4G?

My MyTouch 4G has been working with 4G since I got it (November 2010). Now, 4G will not turn on. It just stays at turning on. After a little bit, the 4G icon (I'm on 2.3.4) will appear in my notification near my signal bars, as usual. But my 3G WatchDog isn't active, so my 4G isn't really on. I've rebooted, pulled the battery, but I really don't want to factory reset....If anyone can help, it would be really appreciated! Thank you!
EDIT: Please someone help, I really need my mobile network for things!
Don't count on 3G Watchdog to tell you the status of your system.
Check your mobile network status in Settings/About.
Check that you have correct APN in Settings/Wireless/Mobile.
Turn off and on mobile data.
Check your connection data, ping your DNS servers or Google DNS (8.8.8.8), ping www.google.com and see if it translates to IP.
If nothing helps or you don't know how to do stuff - back everything up and factory reset the thing.
If you're not rooted - temp-root and back the apps up, and then factory reset.
And the best thing might be to wait - there might just be cellular data problems in your area.

[Q] 4G always on!

Hi. On my gm-g900i (australian) s5 i have the latest XtreStoLite installed with the correct bootloader & modem.
For some reason at all times it shows 4g in the status bar, even when i am not in an app that requires internet. It will only drop to 3g when i am in a poor signal area.
Why does this not dynamically change based on apps used, as it did in kit kat? Have i done something wrong? I am after the power saving of 3g for background data, then 4g when using an app like facebook, chrome etc. This was automatic before?
thanks in advance.
If you're in a 4G enabled area, it'll connect to 4G
If you don't want it to, disable mobile data
