[Q] Acer a500/ Android Newbie! Help me get started! - Acer Iconia A500

Hi,
I am new to the world of Androids, I posses a Acer a500 Tab and a Nexus S phone. I know the basics like how to download apps and navigate trough most of the basics stuff but I am new to all the more ''advanced'' stuff. So I had a couple of questions and if you want to give me any tips on the apps that I should get let me know as well!
1) Root - What are the main reasons you need to root your tablet for, from what I understand it gives you extra permissions to change your setting but does it give you free apps as well like jail breaking?
2) Can you un-Root your tablet if you ever need to bring it back?
3) From what I understand you can link your computer, your phone and your tablet all together so what is the best way to do that and what does that let you do?
4) What is the best internet browser to download? ( I have downloaded both firefox and opera so far)
5) When people are speaking about the ROM does it mean the '' hard drive'' of the tablet?
6) I heard of this website on a another forum: tegraowners.com
What does it do? It looks like it could be usefull to me and do you need to be rooted to use it?
7) Finally, any apps most have suggestions ( I downloaded the most popular one like : Pulse, TED, Skype Barcode scanner etc... I also find wizz bar and wizz widget pretty cool apps)
Thank you for your patience and to making me less newb!

I'm also new with Android. I have had my a500 for about 2 weeks, but I have learned a lot .
1/ Root mean giving yourself full control of the tablet (well, with right software, you can control everything, cpu clocks, voltages, which stock apps you want to keep, much more). With root, you can install/ apply bunch of useful tweaks like ah-hoc support, 3g dongle support.
If your "free app" means "free paid app" or simpler "pirated app", well, pirating is not good, but that's your choice. You don't need root to pirate. Just uncheck an option in setting\application then you're good to go. Download the apk, browse to it with file browser then install.
2/ From what I read, it's possible. Even when your tablet is bricked, you can still manage to install stock ROM before send it to service.
3/ For mobile storage, Dropbox seem very good. There are also many app to share folders between Android devices and with PC via Wifi.
4/ Personally, I use Opera Mobile and sometimes, default browser and Opera Mini (it's very powerful to have access to forbidden websites, like Facebook in my country). I heard that Dolphin Browser is also good, but I haven't tried yet.
5/ Well, ROM stands for "Read-Only Memory" . Just imagine you buy a PC with pre-installed Windows, like that. You can install another version yourself, can re-install it if it got broken. You should think about it like an image of customized windows. You can choose which is suitable for you and install it. It stands as system partition on our device. When people talk about ROM, they care about which customizations that ROM has.
6/ tegraowners.com is the site of legendary thor . He is a good modder. We own him a lot for his work on a500. Some problems about the source code of his amazing kernel stop him from posting here, it's rumor . So you have to visit that site to get his ROMs and Kernels. His forum is also very good, you can see many of XDA members there .
You need to root to install custom ROMs. Yes, root it, and try Thor's ROM v14, it's really sweet.
7/ I recommend QuickOffice HD Pro, Temp+CPU, Thumb Keyboard, Titanium Backup Pro, Pimp my CPU/ SetCPU (only if you want to show your tablet who is the boss ), don't forget to get BetterBatteryStat. JustPicture is also good for browsing photos, for comic, I prefer Perfect Viewer. File Manager HD (honeycomb) is also very good. If you love analog clock, you can get Analog Clock Collection, very handy and lightweight.

WOW
yes lots of Questions...
Well answered above.. only issue is rooting alone will NOT allow you to overclock your Kernel needs to be one from a custom dev or a cooked rom with custom kernel..
Just please read read and understand whats going on before you start flashing.. To avoid bricking your device and causing headaches..

Which Hero do you have? Either way I'm pretty sure 2.1 is already available for both?
Here is the 2.1 download link directly from HTC for the Sprint Hero. This is the latest sprint release which ends in a 6. You will have to revert back to the previous release if you want to root your phone to flash custom roms.
This is also a good thread to get information about the hero as well as how to root - this is for the sprint hero as well.
As for applications it depends on what you are looking for, but here is a small list of applications in no particular order...
Google maps (make sure you have latest version for 3d navigation - beta)
setCPU (if you root and have custom rom that supports it then it will make your phone go fast!)
facebook, twidoid, ect (if your into the social networking craze, i am not)
lastfm, pandora, slaker radio - if you want streaming personal internet music these are the best
shopsavvy - upc barcode scanner that will look up prices locally (by gps) and online!! it is pretty handy for on-the-fly shopping and you want a deal!
advanced task killer - task killer, some people love them some people hate them...but this is by far the best from ratings/comments - i use it and love it
uninstaller / appremover - will uninstall applications, there are other ways to do this without installing another app...but this makes it really easy to get rid of stuff you dont want anymore
oi file manager / astra file manager / w/e - you will for sure want to download some kind of file manager
opera!!! big one! displays websites much better than original browser
makeitdefault - will make opera default browser for clicking links in emails if you like opera better
whitepages - easiest way to lookup stuff you need to find...i find it quicker than going to google maps...and whitepages will map it for you too!
launcher pro / home++ / helix / w/e....there are lots out there but i would suggest using a replacement launcher...hero has htc sense and while it looks pretty it really slows the phone down! this is also a nice thing about custom roms as most will get rid of sense and replace it with something else. launcher pro is my favorite but it is all about what you like as there are lots to choose from
And of course there is a lot of other stuff out there such a google goggles, layar reality browser, weatherbug, speedtest, quickboot (root required), and lots more depending on what you will use your phone for!

[Q] New to Android and Confused about few things

Hello everyone,
I'm chiaotzu and I'm from India. I bought HTC Wildfire a week ago and still learning the things. I must say I'm impressed with everything in it, but I still think I'm missing few points so I'd appreciate if someone can focus on few things. Here are few questions:
1. My Android Version is 2.2.1, does this means I have froyo?
2. I haven't upgraded anything, I've got above version when I bough the phone, so will I able to root the phone? (Sorry no idea why I wanna do that, just coming from iPod Touch, I presume it's something similar to Jailbreak)
3. If I'll be able to root, what is the procedure and are there any risks involved?
4. People are talking about CM7, Openfire and other stuff, what are they? Are they custom firmwares like sn0wbreeze for iPhone?
5. Will I be able to overclock my HTC Wildfire? If yes, How?
6. Is there any software which will make "Google Maps" to cache the data with the specified diameter and level, I'm not looking for any third party software. Because most of them are not easy to use or not working properly. If there is any software which can download maps for offline use and still able to locate me using GPS without internet connection, kindly mention it, I'll give it a go.
7. While using handsfree, when I get call from someone or SMS, is there any software which will read out the name of the calling person if from contacts list, if not, just read out the number and contents of the message if its a text message.
8. Any book reading software which can read ePub format and has the same interface as iBooks with support for Audio books and PDF books?
9. Any alternatives for Awesome note?
10. Best dictionary out there? It was wordbook for iOS?
11. What application should I use to get the best combination of size and quality. I convert my DVD movies using MeGUI using x264 and Nero AAC with MKV Container using 535 Bitrate for Video and 32 for Audio. But I think MKV won't go well with Android, so kindly let me know any application, free or paid? Also kindly share with me your best settings of bitrate that you think are sufficient or okay to have.
I must say, I'm impressed with HTC Sense giving us the full control over the screens, its like desktops of Linux, all 7 of them, but more awesome. I have no words to express my joy and screen resolutions isn't bad at all as many people say, which is a good thing because it saves battery I suppose.
Also for people who have installed Winamp, kindly remove it because it makes handfree button obsolete which starts winamp music instead of receiving calls.
Thanks and looking forward to answers.
PS: xda-developers, I thought it's a community for developers with hardcore programming, but thank god we have general section here.
1. Yes, you have froyo
2. Sorry, but you can't root your phone yet, the Froyo version of WIldfire has something different, just wait/
3. You'll lost warranty, and guest what, anything can happen.
4. Yeah, they are popular custom ROM for Wildfire
5. You can, flash OC kernel or custom ROM and install setCPU
6. Lastest Google Maps can cache for offline use afaik, or you can use many other app in the market
7,8,9,10: I don't have answer now

1. Thanks for confirming.
2. Oh, guess I'll have to wait then. Fair enough, I'll just get myself familiar with Android stuff before jumping into something like that.
3. Ohh, but I want to know if something wrong happens at the time of rooting or flashing the Wildfire with new custom ROM (Firmware or Modified OS?), will I able to switch back to whatever I had previously? If my phone crashed at the time of rooting or flashing, will I able to install the original 2.2.1 OS from somewhere somehow?
4. What is ROM? I presume its a modified version of Software or Firmware or OS of Android. Am I correct?
5. What do you mean by flash? Does flash means just erasing previous data from chip and installing new ROM? Or just changing few files in the OS to suit our requirements?
6. Google maps can cache the maps that we view or get directions for. I want to cache the whole city map so I'll get home safely if I'm lost or will be able to find some address easily.
Thanks a lot for answering the questions and yes, I have one more question.
What application should I use to get the best combination of size and quality. Thanks a lot, I know I type a lot, but I'm excited a lot about my Wildfire.
i'm kind of new too, so for the application question, I'll leave it to other people.
The flash process (install OS or install patch...) is pretty safe now, and you can get original ROM to go back to the original Froyo, but I pretty sure you'll not have to do this.
The ROM = the kernel, OS and the core system app, flash a new ROM means you install a new OS into your phone (similar to firmware on iPhone ? I don't have iPhone)
The whole flashing process is automatic for the end user like us, when rooting, you will have a new recovery call clockworkmod, in this you just have to choose the zip file of the ROM you want.
The newest version of Google Maps cache your data for offline use, and there's ton of app in the market that has offline access and navigation too, so you don't have to worry

Thanks a lot mate for the explanation, really appreciate it. Your elaborated explanation cleared out so many things and feeling secure now about the whole process.
I'd appreciate if someone answers rest of the questions.
If you root and install a custom rom you lose the warranty, but if you can still flash a RUU ROM (aka original rom) from http://shipped-roms.com/shipped/Buzz/ you have an 90 % chance of the service guys not knowing that you have modified your phone.
6. Mapdroyd has some good offline maps and it`s very simmilar to Gmaps, I highly encourage you to test it, just dowload the country you are interested it and you`re done.
8. For PDF files I recommend Repligo Reader, brilliant piece of kit. For Epub I`ve heard of FBReaderJ, but I don`t really know if it work on QVGA, you`ll need to test it out.
1. Yes.
2. No. Froyo has a new HBOOT (eqt. of bootrom on an ipod touch) which is not rootable currently.
4. Custom ROMS, since android is open source, its very easy to customize. so different "flavors" exist. sorta like distros on linux. Although, you cant get these either thanks to not having root.
5. Since you can't root, no.
6. No. I've tried a lot.
7. i dont know, maybe.
8. Laputa book reader, and Aldiko book reader
9. i dunno wat that is, sorry. If its a note taking app, then theres color note, springpad, etc.
10. ColorDict. Dictionaries are plugins, has pronunciation, thesaurus, etc. get it.
11. mp4 works fine, but movies arent really good or enjoyable on our crappy screen Make sure the resolution is QVGA (320x240) not sure abt bitrate settings, sorry
Thanks a lot guys for the answers, definitely cleared some doubts.
I upgraded to Android 2.2 on my Wildfire and now I feel like a Jack Ass !
This topic cleared many of my doubts as well.....Since I am also new to Android !
Thanks for the help !

[Q] Cross-tablet apks

Hi all...
I was wondering if and how could be possible to port apks built for one tablet to another of different brand, i.e. I liked a lot the email client of the Samsung Galaxy 10.1 (with multiple email selector and recycle bin emptying feature), but many others are worth a try...
When I try simply to push the email.apk to my Iconia, it won't work (the icon diasppears from apps), if I try to install it I obtain an error (app not installed) probably due to a signing mismatch... I'd like really to learn how to do this, if possible. This knowledge will complete and accomplish any further request about personalization of our tablets, could be a great improvement being capable to get out the "system" you really want...
I tried to figure out how to use apk manager, but it's quite really difficult without some good suggestion, the thread is more than 200 pages long, and I got stoned before simply find out any usefull info about "system apks"...
TIA
I would like to know also. I want the Facebook account integration from the Galaxy.
Some apps are license by that manufacurer and would be considered wares.its a gray area please be careful. And make sure the Dec of all apps you use get paid
simple answer
couple of APK for galaxy are using CORE framework of the galaxy tabs firmware itself
that will not be possible to just install those apk.
such as
touchwizUI
status bar overlay (I mean the minimode menu with quick access), the quick access settings...
Email and Social things
It's their "Marketing Strenght" so they didn't make it easy to be "stolen" by other brands
I run just the dual clock, the memo, and eReader from samsung but I am running a custom firmware so that change many things
At this moment only 1 custom firmware does use Samsung as base, Virtuous Galaxy... but I have to warn that using custom firmware without following backup steps strictly or knowing the consequence is to AVOID.

first of all, thanks for your answer, and your warn...
I'd like to go deep in the question, as you correctly affirmed, virtuous galaxy's based upon Unity v5 kernel, but virtuous picasso also lays on the same structure, doesn't it?
right now I'm running m-dj's picasso 1.1.0 rom, wouldn't be possible, with any required modification, to run elsewhere coming apks?
I mean, think about having two different pcs, both with the same hardware and the same linux distro and kernel, wouldn't seem wierd that on one pc you could run an application that won't run on the other?
I'm thinking, if they wanted to protect their components why they didn't simply wrote hardware oriented kernels? Therefore, its a fact that on my iconia I can run either a Samsung or an Asus based rom, according to this, where is the cross-platform limit? I mean, is there some sort of documentation defining which part of these Android system is "really" open, under GPL, GNU or whatever structured property info list? I can't find any browsing the net... or maybe I've found too much, its almost impossible to understand what you can and what you can't...
I do not know the whole answer to this question.but I do know this much.if you have any.apk application that is for sale on the market or was installed for free on any device that it was not pre installed on. I would thing it would be considered pirated. As you did not buy it.nor did the developer give permission to run the API on your device.thou some apostle you buy can be installed across the devices you have registered with Googler
if im wrong people please correct me.I just think that developers that fallow rules and write great software MUST BE PAID.

Right and Wrong
if the application is a paid application and wasn't preinstalled on your tablet it is not really legal
if the application is free but cannot be installed from the market and you install it from other sources it's ok
if the application is from another tablet, and exclusively on this tablet do not expect run it on the stock firmware of your tablet, you have great chance to cannot run it simply, or get some random FC (such as from GALAXY because they use another structure on the file directory... so some application try to get the path and it's return an error, Or they are implemented and integrated with the kernel and that... you can't pass throught)
On my tablet I do run
ASUS widget
Galaxy widget (dual clock)
and some other application not from ACER.
now to get back to the OP
. you are on a virtuous... why not go on the virtuous Galaxy !!! if you want galaxy application... I don't get it...

I agree to this explanation of yours, when I flash a rom different from the original, aware that's coming from a different brand, I'm more or less conscious that I'm doing something wrong. mmmf... that's philosophy... won't lose your time
The point is, I've tried the Galaxy rom, I don't like the interface, I don't like the extra bar functionalities, in short I mostly appreciated the Email.apk, most of all because it has a convenient "select all" function, even in the recycler bin (I can't stand with an email client stupid like the one embedded in the Acer version). In any case, given the impossibility to get the Galaxy Email, I'll buy a new one on the market...

[Q] (newbie) POV ProTab 2 (vega?) market access

Hi, I hope I am at the right place to ask about this device.
I found a good deal on this 7" board, and saw that it shipped with the "new" Android v 2.3
However, I can't access the Android Market with it (is that obvious???). I think that without access to the largest app marketplace, I could as well return the thing. (the "replacement" market on it features zero of the apps I want/need)
I could go with a more expensive Samsung tablet where everything probably works out of the box, but I bought this for my kids to play with, so I felt I had no need for all that 3G/GPS/advanced stuff
Could you please advise me on how to obtain market access on this device, if at all possible? Most of the info I've found is on other/related tablets, with older versions of Android.
Is it possible to:
- install a compatible custom ROM (something that works on a tablet like Advent Amico, but it has newer hardware?)
- root the device and then do some magic with it?
- download some app that magically installs market?
- grab the apk's directly from market and then install them (aka "sideloading"?)
I'd really appreciate help on this!
I did a little research on "point of view pro tab 2" thru Google and came up empty (except for deal offerings).
I, personally, would avoid this tablet. On google I didn't find a single forum/board about this tablet, so atm the developing community is nonexistant, so you're getting a slim chance to ROOT your tablet and get the "Google Experience" TM --> Market, GMail, GTalk, Maps,...
If you really want a decent 7" Tablet then get an Archos A70 or its clone Prestigio PMP7070.
Archos also has 10" Tablets A101 (Prestigio PMP7100C), but Advent Vega/ViewSonic 10S/POV mobii are all Tegra 2 based (dual-core with NVIDIA technology (think GeForce GPUs)).
There are alot of similar models and brands in the tablet world and some are ROOT-able and some are not and not a single of these "cheap" tablets has the Google Experience, because that costs extra money for the manufactuers.
I would strongly recommend to check if the device is ROOT-able before you purchase it, this basically applies to any device nowadays: Routers, Phones, media players, Consoles,...
Update about the apks from the Market:
I installed the Market apk on my tablet and it didn't show some apps/games in the market. So I've installed them thru my SGS (phone) and then made a backup (Titanium Backup, Astro Filemanager, there are lots of backup apps on the market) and then transfered the apks from my phone to my PC and then from my PC to my tablet and normally installed them thru a filemanager (like Astro).
You just need to enable "Unknown sources" under Settings --> Applications and you're all done!
yani2000, thanks so much for your help.
I was hoping that the tablet was common HW, just with a obscure branding!
Btw, here's some info on the board. I was looking at the Archos, but it had less RAM and not 2.3, so I thought the POV was a better out of the box (guess I was wrong...)
Operating system Android 2.3 Gingerbread
Processor Telechips 8803 Cortex A8 - 1.0 GHz
System memory 512 MB DDR2
Storage memory 4GB NAND Flash
Display LCD 7" 800 x 480
Touchscreen Capacitive 2-point multi touch
WiFi 802.11 b/g
Hi there.
The screen res on that screen is very low even for a seven inch tab, you should be looking at 1024x600 as a min. 800x480 is the same as my 4 inch phone. Also forget gingerbread, honeycomb is what you want for a tab. Try to find a POV Mobii 10 inch. Vegacomb will install on that and its only around 250 euros.
PEACE.

also i'm wondering if it's possible to install regular android market, and then, afterwards to download and install apps from it?
any help is appreciated!

Hi!
You're actually on wrong XDA forum.
To get all the nice treats visit this XDA's sub-forum:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=875
Gen8 (Generation 8) are the forums for you!
Generation 9 is a good 8"/10" tablet forum with HoneyComb out-of-the-box.
To get more info about ROOT click here.
And here is a guide on how to ROOT.
If you have any questions feel free to ask in that forum.
And for the butt-ugly launcher (I would be ashamed to develop such a launcher), I think you can always install a custom laucher from the market like: GO Launcher EX, LauncherPro, ADW Launcher (I just pointed out few of the most commonly used launchers).
And for the apps+market thing... when you ROOT your tablet you can copy market, maps, contacts, gmail, talk, youtube,... and some other google framework and services related apks to your system/app folder with root explorer and after reboot you'll get the google experience.
Or you can install a custom ROM and let an experienced developer handle all the details.
Well tbh, from my research its based on the ly-f tablet. i'll post a thread when i figure out more.
Also, the tablet comes pre-rooted. just install superuser.apk and rock n roll.
[HowTo] Install Android Market on Point of View ProTab 2
I had the same problem with the Point of View Mobii 7" Tablet ProTab 2 (TAB-7C-4GW-1). After a couple of hours, I found a solution. Here is what I did:
1. Update the firmware/ROM to version 2. Download from Point of View homepage (I can't provide the URL due to forum limitations , but Google "TAB-7C-4GW-1 firmware" and it should be the first hit). NOTE that following the instructions will also perform a factory reset and remove all data. (The reset in the last step means putting a needle in the tiny hole on the back)
2. Configure Wi-Fi and connect.
3. Open the YouTube app and go to My channel. This will require you to log in, so select to add account and provide your Google credentials. (Adding the Google account in the device Settings didn't work for me, at least not under firmware 1)
4. Put LauncherPro and Home Switcher on an SD card, for example by backup up some other device with MyBackup (or maybe transfer to the tab via USB?). Open ES File Explorer and install LauncherPro. Then install Home Switcher, launch Home Switcher and select to launch LauncherPro. Now on the home screen of LauncherPro there will be a Market icon. Tap it, accept the terms - and your're in!
For me this worked on two separate devices with different Google accounts.
i picked up a POV mobii tegra 2 10.1 from my local computer shop for £132. it comes with froyo 2.2 and i installed youtube app and few games on it. im shocked how good the graphics are on games like shadowrun, riptide and jelly defence.
iv did try putting viewcomb 3.2 on the device but there were a lot of bugs, games like shadowrun did not work on it then either. vegacomb doesnt work, it just ends up at the vegacomb boot video animation and goes nowhere. so i went back to stock firmware. shame really since viewcomb had very good scrolling speed but it bricked itself with a usb boot loader message.
still trying to fina a way to get the proper market working with stock firmware.

Like Corvus5, Modaco ROM or a Preformance Pack that goes on top of stock firmware.
no i not tired those, although with stock firmware 2.2 everything seems to work fine for me, i dont ge thte scroll speed that honeycomb offers but the 2.2 is more stable.
however i have an issue with motion sensor games where they dont register the tilting on 2.2 firmware but work fine on honeycomb.
odd.

For me this worked on two separate devices with different Google accounts.

the performance pack is very old, its for v1.08 rom, im using stock 1.10 rom.
corvus5 and modaco rom dont have a nvflash installer so the install method seems complex so i didnt bother with those roms.
me hoping VegaICS improves and works out well, that i would like to be using on this tablet. or who know, windows 8 in the future?

[Apps] for I'm Watch Smartwatch

I started on the wrong foot, but finally found that it likes Android 1.6 Apps!
- Angry Birds!!!!!! (with music and usable, albeit, it just takes a little time to Start just Once Initially, the everything is quite normalish after initial start..... But the initial Splash screen looks so cool on the smartwatch it is worth the wait).
- Dolphin Browser
- Opera Mini Browser
Hints:
- To download anything in Opera Mini, select the DCIM folder, it seems it does not like to download on initial root. Warning, it is not fast downloading.
- When typing remember that it is a good idea that when typing in the small keyboard, that if you are fast, and keep pressing a key and notice it was not the one you intended, before releasing the key, if you do it fast enough, you can move your finger towards the correct key before releasing your finger. This is much faster than having to delete a wrong entered letter. If you keep pressing and fail to move fast, it would suggest alternative based on the wrong letter and you can no longer move to next, but if you click elsewhere, it won't type the wrong letter.
- Dolphin Browser is great because you can define shortcuts for common menus (remember you don't have a menu key), with its gestures. I made a gesture for settings and other to go to downloads and for full screen!
More Apps come!!
Please Share your Apps!!!
More Apps!
- Aptoid works quite fine to install new apps.
- Backgammon Free
- Bazooka Rabbit works! (albeit, not all the screen appears, but it is playable).
- ES File Explorer
- .... more to try ...
Are you running the latest 2.1 os?
I'd be interested to see these apps in action on the watch. Anyone want to make a youtube video?
Rooted it

I just recently got my imwatch and I'm already using the amazing side loader machine to load random apps onto it. I'll try to get a video going of it if I can but otherwise not many apps seem to work on it. If you can give me some ideas and a link to the apk to make things easier I will have more examples to show.
Great little thread. Lets hope more people post the names of more suitable useful apps.

I'd be interested to see how some apps work compared to my Motoactv. So some examples would be emulators such as gbcoid, snesoid and n64oid. Maybe some android games such as Hill Climb, and Hardest Game Ever. Apps, I dunno, maybe root explorer (or just explorer), a browser (I use boat browser mini), and mxplayer playing a video would be cool to see. Everything but the emulators I just got off the Google Play store. If you can't access the store on the I'm Watch yet I remember being able to take apps off my phone. Just download the app on your phone, then use a file manager to browse to /data/app/, then send it to your computer (I use bluetooth). I can send you the emulator apk's, just PM me your e-mail.
Use bluestack make it easier to grab the apk and download multiple apps at the same time,
Games or apps compatible with android 1.6 will have a much better chance of working...
Good info
apps
Got some more apps that seem to work on the i'm watch after the 2.1.2 adb update
go jkeyboard works
mobicalc
advanced task killer
voice search kinda works, cant find netwrok connection. would like someone to get that working.
dropbox works
graffiti pro keyboard works
dolphin browser works
gesture search
but there arent many people who are rooting and or doing things for the watch,. So if you can give me any ideas as to what to do to it or how I'd appreciate it,. Such as unlocking the bootloader
What I'm finding is that anything where you can draw or speak is more useful for this watch.\
rooting with super on click was the best way of doing it honestly .
Ok so I found a useful group of apks that make customization something a greater thing.
email me @ [email protected]
for the link. (don't have enough posts for links)
Thanks!
There is a new ADB version out. The last was 2.1.2 but now there is a 2.2.0 which I am going to update to now and attempt to see if it changes much.
Heres hoping.
how do you install those apps on the watch , i just got me a i'm watch 2 weeks ago and this sounds interesting:good:

Well theres two ways to do it.
1. you can do the whole rooting process by getting the ADB software from imwatch and using super one click to root it then install it through a sideload manager.
2. you can download all the apks in there and go to the im market and get Sideload Manager app from there. Then you'd put the apks in the DCIM folder and go through the Sideload Manager and install it that way.
Note: You should disconnect from the pc when trying to install through sideload manager app for option two.
Hello, could anyone help me check "Endomondo" and/or "Runtastic" apps can work on the I'm Watch pls?

It's still pretty buggy. But from the things I've seen android phones have apps that are capable of handling and changing the volume and etc on there.
Don't quote me but its just what I've heard. I have an iPhone 5 so I can't really share from experience.
