Hi Everyone
I've read alot about the gateway a60 being just a rebranded Acer Iconia 500.
I can confirm that the downgrade/root/flashing iconia ROM worked.
I Was wondering if anyone had the original Gateway braded software, just in case I have to return my tablet?

I have been looking too but have come to terms with the fact that this tablet is not going anywhere -)

Follow the link that Erica posted. Looks like using the acer rom might not void the waranty. Afterall, I ran the acer update on my tablet WITHOUT rooting it.
Afterwards I was able to root it with all the acer methods/tools.

I flashed my A500 with the update from Acer, when I flash my system.img, wifi do not want to work.

you need to copy the 2 files from update.acer.zip\system\lib\module to your tablet and preserve the permissions they originally have... restart the tablet and wifi will work...
I put that in the tablet, I'm sorry for my noob questions ....
And last question, what are the permissions I need to apply to these files?

its a chinese update its posted all over the place in this and in the general sewction use the search tab and read the rules cause u are breaking the first rule.
I didn't see it either, no need to be rude. If you don't wanna help, just keep quiet. Simple enough? I think so.

Is this leaked 3.1 rom of any use to us on the advert vega as it also has a tegra 2 chip?

I'm new to the Iconia and was hoping I could get some input on which ROM is the most stable for the Iconia.
Also would like to know the best rooting method for Iconia.

You know, that has been asked and mentioned like a dozen times here already, you could have just checked any of the thread with similar title as yours..
But I'll answer then: install "iconiaroot.apk", tap on "Root." You're rooted.

any ROM suggestions?
The stock rom that came on your tab.the custom Rom each have great benefits over the stock.but they also bring additional issues .I truely think the developed are doing a awesome job.just a very young is and no love from Acer or google

I'd suggest you try Taboonay's ROM .. I switched to it from Virtuous Galaxy 10.1 yesterday and I am definitely enjoying it.. Also, chose a nice kernel to go along with it.. I'm using the Honey Villain kernel from Richardtrip.

I am a huge newbie at this, so don't laugh.
How do I tell if its rooted or not? I am on android v 3.0.1,

I don't know the differences between the roms, but I want to install this one
Stock/HV/Taboonay V3.7 for HC 3.2 16-10 - 1.64Ghz
Any guidance would be great . Thanks

I downloaded rom manager but is it possible to flash clockwork mod recovery? When I check I only see one acer listed and I am not sure if it would be compatible.

Use acer recovery installer from the market. The A500 is not supported by rom manager.

When I went to root my a501 there were about 10 different threads telling me how to do just this....

this is the thread that has been ongoing for several days to a week.. I think it just dropped off the top showing thread post this morning.It tells all about this as well as some other interesting stuff about flashing roms . what roms and everything else you would need to know to keep yourself from having a Brick.....
Flashing the acer has to be done EXACTLY RIGHT or its a worthless brick..
There is a sticky at the top..OF The page telling everyone how to search. When you start to make a new Thread it shows you recent threads on the same topic.. this helps keep the forums from being filled with the same thing repeated over and over.. There is also a Sticky thread in the DEV SECTION with common tips and Tricks for the iconia..
Please read that thread OP.. It will avoid someone being upset at you again for asking a VERY Simple solved many times Question..
Also read about rooting and issues with 3.2 bootloader if your tablet is just purchased...
