help finding this case - Acer Iconia A500

hello can anyone tell where can I find this case on the video shown below
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=55yHHNdIAXA&feature=youtube_gdata_player

Jeff - That is the standard Acer case. You can get it from Acer's website, or Best Buy or Staples. If my memory serves me correct it was about $39.00 but by now it could well be less.

According to the video you can get it at hmv.com. They ship internationally. You can also find them at staples. Thinking about getting one myself.

I got mines from acer website

i bought this case when it was the only thing available. Its laying on top the fridge after a week the tablet will not stay in.
TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY.
GET THE one on amazon its cheap and well made.I have the open viper case and ordered the red crown case hoping it comes in by tomorrow's

Yep, what Erica said. I've got the original Acer case and end up holding it upside down otherwise the tablet slowly slips out.

I had that case. It sux. My tablet fell out and smashed the screen up. I now have one from amazon by casecrown. It cost $0.01 plus $4.99 shipping. It is much better, stiffer, and velcros the tablet into place. Here's the link:

I got this one from the att store, its designed like the one you posted, however its hard leather and supports the tablet very well in any layout.

Covers and cases - General

I thought I would start this thread for people to post about covers and cases that they have found that are either specifically designed for the Iconia, or alternatively generic covers and cases that will fit the device.
A few that I have found include:
Built NY
Generic netbook cases. I have tested the 9"-10" cover and the Iconia fits beautifully. Offers good protection, especially if you're throwing the device in a backpack or bag.
See here
Bizbang
10" netbook sleeves work a treat and there's some funky designs here.
See here
Typo
Typo stores (Australia) stock a generous sized leather iPad cover. I have tested the Iconia in it and it works a treat. No online store though I am afraid.
I am using the Nylon Sling Sleeve originally made for Macbook Air 11".
http://www.goincase.com/products/detail/nylon-sling-sleeve-cl57828
It has a super soft interior - perfect for keeping the screen scratch-free and roomy enough to allow for a gel-case. Also has a couple of exterior pockets for cords, etc.
It is a little pricey though.
For those who need water protection for their tablet.... I got this for my Nook Color with the goal to use with my next tablet (which became my Acer . It was a little big for the Nook, but a good size for the Acer.
http://www.aquapac.net/usastore/water-electronics-large-877-0.html
It works great! Very easy to open and easy to ensure it's closed and sealed. Guaranteed waterproof to 5m. 5-year warranty.
Can someone advise me if the Xoom portfolio case that can also be used as a stand work with the A500? Thanks!

My local Best Buy said they should have cases in by the end of next week. Glad Staples has them online but I think I may wait till they have them in the sotres so dont have to pay shipping.

Buy it online and have them send it to your local store to avoid paying shipping. My total was $43 with tax. It specifically said FREE for shipping and I will pick it up tuesday. Dont chance going all the way to next weekend without a case. These machines are slippery.
Now all I have to do is see if I could ind a promo code tonight. If I order tonight it will be there by Tuesday. Thanks for the heads up silkjones.

Works great. I was out floating around in the pool reading via the Acer today. The issue is trying to read in bright sunlight. I've found it best to read in the shaded area of the pool.

Tried it @ Best Buy; the. a500 is about 1/2" larger on width & height than the Xoom.
While I was there I did get a Targus iPad CityGear Messenger bag; the A500 is a bit too wide to fit into the intended interior sleeve, but the main compartment is just the right size. Now I have a convenient bag for the cables & a keyboard should I get one.

CaseCrown Bold Standby

Hey everyone, like all of you I've been trying to find a nice case that meets my needs without adding too much bulk. I picked up the CaseCrown Bold Standby case this week from Amazon for about $20, and I'm thrilled so far. Here's the link to the product's website: http://www.casecrown.com/tablets/iconia-tab/acer-iconia-bold-standby-case-black
I plan on posting up a video review pretty soon so check back this weekend!
Cheers
I'm planning to buy this instead of the Acer brand, will wait for your review.
This is a great case, Iv had mine for about a month and I love it. Keeps the a500 safe with its snug fit. Really good finish with the red stiching. Very good stand but I will say that it will were at the back after a while!

lol too late but thanks for the tip. If this one is not good I'll order the CaseCrown on next payday. Anyway nice review.
I just received that case last week. It is a fantastic case! I was about to buy the official Acer case at Walmart for $40 but the material doesn't look heavy duty and wasn't worth $40. I was suprised when this case came. Material feels stronger than the official Acer case i saw at Walmart. Case crown case fits perfectly. The cutouts are cut out perfect. I have no complaints. Paid $25 on amazon. I enjoy using my a500 much more now because it doesn't slip out of my hands as much. It feels like a book.

You can get exactly the same from eBay for aout $11.
I ordered one last week, it is pretty damn good to be honest.
I'm trying to sell my Acer genuine case now!
This case is on sale right now for 4.99 on Amazon, and there's 4 different colors to choose from .

Screen protector: Naked, especially if you're just keeping it around the house, it has Gorilla Glass. It's not like it's going to be in a jeans pocket rubbing against grains of sand.
Apps/widgets: That's a personal thing, based on what you're going to be using the Tab for. Go browse the Android Market (use the web-based version) and start downloading.
Best ROM: Run stock KMB for awhile, then you'll know if you want/need the enhancements(or reductions) found in the custom ROM packages.
$370?? Awesome deal!! I got mine for 400 plus tax using the Staples coupon
Alright Croak will do. And thanks lost. I'm really liking the screen on this think, its miles ahead of the screens on my old tablets (Elocity A7 and Nook color)

I've heard some folks have been able to get Best Buy to price match Newegg. Actually shouldn't be too hard as this is only 6% discount. In any case, right now Amex is offering $25 credit on statement if purchasing anything over $250 from Best Buy. Thus if you get BB to price match and put it on an Amex card, you are basically getting this for $304 (plus applicable taxes.)
10% off on Newegg for tablets
Gave me $33 off the new $329 price.
$296 free shipping :good:
Here's a bad sign. I had a white G Pad that was sitting in my shopping cart on Newegg. When I went to the website and put another item in the cart, I got a message saying that they were removing the G Pad because they had insufficient stock. Looks like the black model is still available.
So, this means that the G Pad is now available at 11/2 retailers in the US, and basically, it's only available online and not in B&M stores. Another indication that LG is pulling the plug. I'm puzzled about why they seem to introducing it in other markets while they're abandoning it in the US, though. Mysterious.

I should have said barely available at B&M stores. In my area, half the stores have a few units in the cage where nobody can see them. None of the stores have them on display.
I didn't see that the white unit was still showing up on Newegg, but apparently it is. The fact that they're raising the price going into Black Friday suggests to me that they are running out of inventory. None of this is good news.

Hmm, I hadn't looked at this one before you mentioned it. Looks like it has 4:3 ratio (which some people prefer). One other issue is that it only has 1 Gb RAM which will probably affect the performance. Still might be worth a look.
With any luck, we'll start seeing some more 8" options in the coming months. Maybe some of them will make a better attempt to sell their devices than LG has.

The 4:3 is most likely a deal breaker for me. I've spent some time with an iPad mini and the aspect ratio just felt weird, probably because I haven't had a 4:3 ratio anything since the old computer monitors.
Regarding the RAM, some reviews I've read claim 1 GB and others claim 2, not sure why the discrepancy but it's a moot point after the screen ratio.
I'll probably just wait until the 8.3 goes on sale again somewhere. Hopefully there'll be another competitor in this screen size by that time.

I'm kind of thinking the same thing. I might pick up a cheap substitute (Nexus 7, e.g.) and wait for a decent 8" device to come along. It might turn out the the problem with the G Pad is just production shortages. If that's the case, then they may lower the price and get them out to more retailers when they are able to produce enough devices. If that doesn't happen, I'll look for something else. I'm just not ready to buy a G Pad until there are enough people owning one to make a community.

And what web site did you use this code on?

Worth buying today?

I just went out to Currys to try and pick one up instore however it was out of stock. Also out of stock on the online website.
However, its still available on their eBay outlet store for the same price. (£99)
Is this still worth picking up then? Are the going to be discontinuing this model? Are the eBay ones their surplus stock their trying to get rid off?
Do you think the price will drop any further?
Thanks!
Very much doubt the price will drop any further. The £99 price tag is to get rid of surplus stock. I got mine at this price as well.
Thanks for that!
So you reckon its still with a pop? Not much else better I can get for £99 can I?
Performance Per Buck (PPB also know and Bang for Buck BFB) is that good that its not just worth getting its worth ripping it out their hands. I have had one which was faulty but the second one is perfect! just make sure you get the Magnetic cover as well!!!!
For a tablet that can keep up with the modern phones its smashing mate.
Yes I managed to play with one in store and it handled everything I threw at it with ease. I was just a bit concerned that it isn't really as popular as other tablets despite the low price.
I was deciding between this and the Nexus 7 2013, but I'd probably not go for the latter as the chip is ancient in tech world now and Nexus 8 is announced this week...?
Thanks all the same for the help, was just really what I was looking for, a confirmation I am doing the right thing. [emoji3]
I guess I'll place my order in the morning.
Cheers!
This tablet crushes the Nexus 7 2012 and 2013 in benches. A tablet that is not popular is not always a bad sign.
But there is also the down side of the company that has its branding on the Nvidia Tegra Note 7 (tegratab) in our case in the UK its Advent as they have bad rep in the computer side of things how ever with the TegraNote 7 the only thing Advent did was Brand the Device the sold making was down to Nvidia!! hence why Nvidia supplies the OTA's and the EVGA GiGabyte etc are all the same. The only major difference is the partition called LBH which holds the bootanimiation with the company whitelable.
I got mine from here, mint, saved £20 for a sd card and case

Quick question, does this come with a screen protector already pre-installed?
And any cade recommendations?
Cracking tablet. I have a nexus 2012 and I have to be honest the performance of the tegra note is just a joy. Love the official case as well. Worth every penny. In fact I am giving my niece my nexus!

I picked one up a couple of weeks ago and haven't regretted it one bit. For £99 delivered to your door it provides one heck of a bang for the cost. I'm still looking for a decent case in the UK for it, though.

Best case for Tegra Note is Fintie case for HP Slate 7 Extreme. It is 100% compatible. Also the magnets work like a charm.
