[Q] CRT lock screen animation for Thrive? - Thrive General

Does anyone know how to flash the CRT animation to the Toshiba thrive? Love the way it looks on my Droid X think it would look equally great on the thrive. Thanks in advance for any help!

If you are rooted, you need it named bootanimation.zip and copy over the one in /system/media directory. Be sure to make a backup of the original file. If you are not rooted, you cannot change the boot animation. Or at least you need ClockWorkMod loaded to do so.

Let me clarify, not the boot animation but the animation when you press the power button to put it to sleep. Want to look like an old tv set shutting off. Also, thanks so much you for all your work and time on the thrive Dale!

Oh, sorry, I am not sure about adding an animation for that. Sorry about that.

Bump......
Im still looking for help with this. If anyone could assist I would be extremely greatful.

Have you seen it done on a honeycomb tablet? I don't think you can do that. Don't quote me though.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d_ok1rpBr94
That's the closest thing but it's app enabled.

What do you mean it is app enabled? This looked good to me but I don't know what he did.........

Droid Eris Nexus One Screen Lock Patch (No Live Wallpapers)

For root users with recovery img only.
Save zip to sdcard, reboot into recovery, and flash the zip from sdcard.
Enjoy.
OR
If you comfortable with a linux shell, you can mount the system partition as rw, and delete the htclockscreen app from /system/app (if you even think about asking me for help, just use the patch and save us both some wasted time). However feel free to email/msg/call at home at 1am Unheard for help, since he wanted to point out the command line procedure.

applying wallpaper to the nexus lock screen
hey fantastic patch by the way! thanks so much for the hard work. i do prefer the nexus lock screen however is the transparency the only option? i tried to apply the wall via menu/wallpaper/lockscreen...says wallpaper applied etc but doesnt show when the device is locked. is this a limitation of the initial root? would it be advisable to go to v3 of the 2.1 root? again fantastic work much appreciated...
v0.3.0 is advisable, wont fix your problem. Will look into it after I have a break from the phone for a bit.
One other bug ive seen with the wallpaper is that it does not allow you to shut off or snooze your alarm so I had to restart or appkill to get it to shut off

Confirmed that 14 minutes ago, work wakeup in a long time.

By using that nandroid backup you made, right before trying it?
Didn't make one? Probably have to reflash.
Im good backup didnt work at first because Im guessing the phones power was low. Right after I posted had put my wifes phone on the pc to charge and the nandroid back up went through.
I'm probably in the minority that actually enjoys the lock screen more than live wallpapers, but this patch is great. Other than a few small visual issues, this is perfect. I hated the Sense lock screen. Great work jcase!
installed it and love it only issue i have with it would be the alarm wont snooze...will you be working on that or is this just something we would have to work around? other than that its a great extra
The issue is in the HTC Alarm, and Sense. Use another alarm clock.
Love it. Nice job.

what are some good alarm clock replacements out there that i might be able to use?
Dunno, when you find one tell me please.
Sent this to a buddy cuz he too scared to do the commands via adb and he is an idiot and got it to work. I stamp this, idiot proof.
Thanks for this. Saves me on gas having to do this for his phone.

Gentle Alarm works much better.
thanks for this!
was a great addition to my theme
I love the Nexus lock screen it keeps me from pocket dialing. I wish I could set a lock screen background though.
I really like this lockscreen and it works great except if i put my phone into airplane mode. When it comes out of airplane mode, the lockscreen continues to say 'No Sim Card', display the 'emergency call' and no longer show the battery charge. Rebooting the phone fixes it. Perhaps the CDMA Nexus One lock screen will fix this problem.

[Q] In call color question

I'm running TAZv9 mod and have a nice looking color mod that makes my phone look and run really nice. Just curious if there was anyway to change the color on the screen that comes up when you are in a call. It has a red background when the call ends and green while you are in the call. Is there anyway to change this to a blue or whatever when you are in the call...basically is this something that can be skinned with one of the programs that is out there(MetaMorph).
I'm 41 years old and my 20 yr. old son has gotten me into this whole rooting thing. I appreciate you all letting an old guy hang in your forum. I write test software for a living so I am interested in maybe getting to the point where I can start messing with my own software apps, etc.
I'm sorry if the question seems really dumb to all you bright young people, but I couldn't find anything about it on the search button.
Thanks for any info and help,

I can probably put together a quick metamorph for you. The file is in Phone.apk
So instead of the green gradient you want a blue gradient? And keep the red gradient when it ends?
Just place the attached file on your sdcard in "AndroidThemes" and use Metamorph.
Yep. That is exactly what I want. Thanks!

Hey, not sure if you have had a chance to make that blue gradient yet? I was thinking I might just try to do it myself. So, do I just find the file on my phone, copy it to my

Copy it to my computer and then use something like photoshop to edit it?
Sorry about the two posts...I was replying from my phone and somehow hit the menu and send as I was typing away. Is that file recognized by most picture editing software packages or do I need to convert it somehow? Thanks for any and all information. If there is a post or Wiki about this somewhere Im sorry...please point me in the right direction.

Just download the file and your computer. Hookup your phone and mount the sdcard. Then create a folder on it called "AndroidThemes". Next download "Metamorph" from the market. Run it and select the "blue-in-call" theme, and apply it.
Yes...I figured that out and it looks great. My questions were about what you used to modify the graphic (Photoshop)? Im hoping to start modifying some stuff and make my own graphics to use with Metamorph.
Thanks again for your help and for not flaming the old guy!

Boot animation hack

I'm not sure if anyone has been able to hack the stock at&t boot animation yet.
I'm stock rooted but the boot animation.zip doesn't appear to be setup as other ROMs.
Also on a completely unrelated note, I'm having the hardest time getting air gestures to work. Do you guys happen to know what app controls the air gesture feature (just wanna make sure I didn't freeze it)? Also is smart scroll supposed to work in all apps or just the default email client and browser? Using Firefox and gmail and it doesn't seem to do jack.

Boot animations [1080p]

I bring you some boot animations I have made still are a little rough but work. I have updated a few and will be updated regularly.
These are installed by using a file manager aka "Root Explorer" and are not flashed. Rename to "bootanimation.zip"
The sparking orb.

Golden purple swirl

My envisioned of nexus (updated 11/12/13)

I also take general requests which requires two people asking for it at least.

180MB for a boot animation is a bit too much. I've seen other HD animations at a fraction of that size.

Well its a mix of the high quality and amount of images in the animations. There are some smaller ones I have put out myself that are posted here by two thirds the size. Its also easy to edit the zip and shorten the animations amount of images in the the three "part" folders inside the zip. I dont have any issues with not having enough space on my 16gb phone at all. This is still a work in progress, so keep posted for changes and updates.

Thank you. I have an other one I gotta finish that looks cool as well.
Excuse my ignorance, but here where is the original boot animation located in the system?? I understand how I am supposed to replace it, but I cannot find it in the system.
I tried using the usual boot animation management app instead and it seems to have worked for "My envisions of nexus", however it appears it gave me a boot loop, so best to avoid using boot animation managers on kitkat everyone.

Of course I will not do that with your agreement.

Some do have a long cycle times before it allows your phone to start and could cause hang ups id imagine. If you could tell me which you are having issues with I will change them so that's not a issue as such. These are working drafts basically.

Your personal view of nexus just took a long time but when I tried real fire it locked up at the end. By the way, you CAN package these as a zip.
Here is a zip of the default boot animation for people if they want to revert to stock and maybe didn't think to rename the original instead of deleting or overwriting it.
It would help others if in your OP you mention that the boot animation file is in /system/media and that they should remember to set permissions on the file to rw r r after they replace it as well.

It's not animated and I've tried several times to do the screen shot, but it's only on there a short time and I don't know if it's too early in the boot process to get it. When booting, it goes from the android/shield to the animated ATT logo. I can get a screen shot of the ATT logo. I'll keep trying.

Ah ok, thanks, however it seems to be the AT&T boot animation? I wonder if that booting Android with the shield is actually part of the full boot animation or functions the same like for a example a Samsung's first boot/splash screen where they show the name and model number.
