So ones u get your galaxy nexus what well u use your nexus s for - Nexus S General

Keep it for a strictly gaming device testing device rooting device
What will u use your nexus s for when u upgrade

Better check your thread title again. Not very suggestive .
I'll probably hand it to over to my wife, or sell it. I'll see when I get to it.

I'd probably install a remedial spelling and grammar instructional tool on the Nexus S.

Why would you even keep it? I'll sell it. The wife has a GSII so she wouldn't want it.

hahahaha...nice

Here is a better title:
"Got a Galaxy Nexus? What to do with old Nexus S?"
Or, if you wanted to fix your original:
"Once you get your galaxy nexus, what will you use your nexus s for?"
Not that hard...

Deciding what to do with your old phone is the least of your problems.

So I'm not the only one who thought of this. I have my old Nexus One in a cabinet and intentionally gave it a bad rom flash so it just replays the nexus boot animation forever. It's quite awesome to me and the S will join it when I get my galaxy nexus.

Long live the NX! This baby will never leave me it is too amazing to toss the Galaxy Nexus got nothing on it!
My opinion is greatly influenced by the fact that I cannot afford the Galaxy Nexus after just buying the Nexus S and denial. (I would totally ditch the NX for GN and keep the Nexus as a trophy on my wall for the "memories" we share).
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App

I got to play with a Galaxy Nexus for the first time a few days ago, and I have to say I think I prefer to keep my Nexus S. I don't really need dual-core power, and although the phone isn't strictly speaking too big for me, I found the form factor uncomfortable to hold. I'm also still not really sold on the software buttons; they have potential but they just seem clumsy at the moment.
Granted, the screen is gorgeous, I like the notification LED, and there are times I feel tempted to switch for the extra RAM alone, but all things considered I honestly believe the NS is a superior everyday device. In any case, for the price tag the GN would really have to wow me, and it just didn't.
If I were buying a new phone today and had the GN and NS side by side, I'd be torn. Since I already have the NS though, I just don't feel compelled to switch. Maybe once the price comes down a bit, the software goes through a couple upgrades and they release a nice big extended battery to fatten it up a bit in the palm.

I'll probably give my Nexus S to my cousin, who's rocking a blackberry at the moment.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium

Will hand it to my cousin bro. I am not one bit emotional with material stuff.

I sell it to my younger brother or keep it as a backup.
EDIT: I'm not gonna get the GNex, but I'll wait for the next Google phone. It probably has quad-core CPU or something. I just don't have enough money for it.

Please enter a valid message

Either give it to my mom if she wants it, keep it or sell it back to best buy buy back program & get the galaxy nexus even cheaper!!

Need help with a decision!

I have a chance to trade my nexus s 4g for an evo 3d. I've been back and forth trying to decide what with the ics launch imminent. Should I go for it?
From Degobah
if you want the OTA updates first, keep the ns.
anyways i would never sell my NS or something. maybe later i'll get the newest nexus (from google.). once I have a google phone its hard to let go of it
Right! That's my biggest indecision! I had the epic before this...and I don't care of it's Sammy, HTC, or Moto, it's going to take a looong time for those phones to get updated. I'm just falling victim to wanting the dual core and bigger screen. Bit after the whole epic 4g fiasco...I don't know if I want to take that risk again.

That's how they make money. Tempt the customers with awesome specs, then make the product obsolete as soon as possible by keeping the software updated for just a short time.
I don't care about the latest hardware, I want the latest software. That's why I'm keeping my Nexus S.
I remember a user here who traded his Evo 3d for a nexus s. Going from nexus s to evo 3d is not an 'upgrade' in my opinion.

ahm.. evo 3d is not that good imho. If you are going to upgrade make it at least something like a GS2. Community support for that phone is big. So even if that phone don't get early ICS, the developers will have a stable ICS rom on it.

I was stuck with the hboot1.5 and it was a pain in the ass to root. I didn't want to do it the HTC method. Plus I also noticed on numerous 3D phones that they had an issue with on time and awake time. They would be close to equal. I think it was due to the software 2.3.4

Maybe, but so far I haven't found anyone to trade for an epic touch 4g. Plus after the 2 snafus propagated by Samsung with original epic, I'll pass, plus all the Los issues with it...no thanks. I'm sure for an upgrade in January, so I'll just hold on to this until the galaxy nexus his for sprint.

Sent from my Nexus S 4G using xda premium
The HD2 is good as a plaything, if you want to try out different OS, but it doesn't match the function and usability of Nexus S.
The battery life is horrible, if you intend to use a HD2 at all then you'd better be resigned to spare or extended batteries. The processor isn't too bad, but still won't match the NS
All in all, it depends on your personal preference, whether you'd rather functionality or simply options.
I had a Hero and I bought a HD2 last summer and put android on it. The HD2 really lowered my respect for HTC. The devices screen was awful - it was really washed out compared to my Hero. Also, the digitizer was not accurate even after calibration within android. You could also see the digitizer touch sensors under the screen in normal daylight. The touch screen would also miss presses, like one press in ten wouldn't be registered by the device - extremely annoying when you are txting. Luckily I kept my Hero and got shut of the HD2, but it left me disappointed.
Anyway I saw the Nexus S deal over on hotukdeals and thought I'd give it a shot as £200 was the max I wanted to spend. Anyway I can safely say that I am a Sammy man from now on. The phone has really exceeded my expectations, especially running ICS.
It's a shame as I always had a soft spot for HTC with the Hero being my first smartphone. But it's sad to say that the nexus one/desire was probably the last great phone HTC have made for the Uk market.
Cheers.

Reasons why your still with the Nexus S?

Hey guys, I was a older nexus user and after getting many phones(I have a sensation) I'm getting a nexus again. I'm trading my senny for nexus S and a Samsung infuse 4g.
So why are you guys still with the nexus? Reasons?
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA
Because I can't afford another phone. Lol. Well part of the reason. I actually enjoy the community support and see no other reasons to upgrade. My phone does what I need it to without any problems. My next phone will be a GNex, but I'll probably run this thing into the ground before then. At least I'll have saved up enough by then.

That's cool. For spem reason, this phone looks amazingly sexy. And in hand it feels the best than any other phone
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA
I quite like my nexus, but the main reason is, that there is nothing extraordinary about new phones.
My nexus can perform smoothly, any task i need to do( i don't play games).
I'll upgrade at the end of the year,
hopefully till then , they will be able to sort the battery life and use more efficiently front panel,
to fit screen.
I'll would love, to have bigger screen, although not at cost of carrying mini tablet in my pocket.
Because I am not a fool that constantly goes out and buys the latest and greatest phones for a big e-peen.

I would honestly suggest a soft gel/rubber case.. Hard cases ruined my hox, too much pressure to get them on, ended up breaking some ribbon on the board, so the screen won't turn on unless the housing is partially removed.. Which is how I have to use this phone until I fix it or order a nexus 4 if its not fixable for free/really cheap.
The only thing I'm losing is LTE. Which I don't use/rarely use as it is
You should if you can get it for $350 at Play Store. I'm happy with it, very good price for a good phone. If you can live with no LTE, non removable battery, no external SD card, somewhat low/tinny speaker output volume and just average camera quality you'll be happy with it.
I would buy it again. The price is unbeatable. If you can live with the lack of OTG (Which may be fixed eventually) and camera quality then you'll love it. I think the washed out colours thing is due to peoples love for very saturated screens. As I said in another thread, take a photo of something, look at it on the screen, if it's brightly covered in bloom, then it's over saturated. Just because the Nexus 4 is less saturated doesn't mean it's washed out.
All right just ordered it from Google. Can't wait! 388.00 total but that's cheap compared to the other ones I've had bought. Not to worried about the camera I have a camera for that. I'm still not sure on what case but thinking gel case something that won't scratch it n can clean up n not bulky. I don't know what plan to go with being in northern Mn there's not too many options.

I recently got it and I absolutely love it.
Things to consider though:
1. no SD CARD, got the 16GB version and im still struggling with space.
2. battery life is below average, I'm coming from a Motorola defy which had much better battery life.

The Nexus 4 is the perfect phone for me, no doubt about it.
However, being the tech geek that I am there is no doubt in my mind I will grab the Nexus 5 about 6 months after it's released (I don't want to deal with launch-day drama and hardware issues which always seem to plague the initial Nexus releases)
I can say, however, that I will only be buying Nexus phones from now on since they have finally stepped up to the plate with decent hardware and specs. The Gnex was a massive disappointment to me, I sold it within four months of owning it.
Same for me. I had the one x for the last year but it has started giving me trouble by not recognizing the Sim card was in the slot.
I was torn between the nexus 4. HTC one and the galaxy s4.
After much deliberation I went with the nexus 4 and I'm so glad I did.
I owned the nexus one before so I am already accustomed to the nexus experience.
I honestly didn't expect the 4 to be so much better than the one x. Snappier. Better gaming performance and longer battery life.
I'm so glad I switched
