Email notification for account widget - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 General

Hi,
I'm using two email account on the Samsung client,
I would like to have a notification on the widget, so I could only open one in which I have new messages..
To have a notification for new email I must use Social Hub..
I know Gmail (Google client) has the notification in the widget...
Is it possible that Samsung did not think to add the widget of the notification email?

Mine shows a notification number, which will add up depending on how many unread emails there are.

This is what Android is kicked for when compared to iOS. Not only are there thousands of devices behaving differently, but the same app in same device having small differences! (is it because of firmware upgrade)?

Lol what? I call it user error. If you add you account individually through the shortcuts, you wont get any notifications. If you add the actual app from the app drawer you will get notifications. Its been like that since the sgs2 and maybe original sgs. Im pretty sure the OP knows but theres also a widget for regular email app that you cant swipe through.
Even though our forum section is a little slow on development, you might want to check out the sgs2 section to see if anyone modded the email app. There basically the same phone.

Android email: can we port to WM6.1?

Here are the things about android email that I think are great:
1. the interface, of course
2. its handling of imap: when you look at the home screen, you see the list of your imap folders. these are not downloaded folders; when you click on a folder, it then pulls the headers for the messages in that folder, and when you click on the email message, it then pulls that email. this is in contrast to Pocket outlook, which has to sync whole folders and pull all the headers or emails at once. Android handles the pulling of headers and emails and folders very well on the fly, so wait time is minimal
For me this is ideal: you can access all email on your imap server without spending time with discrete syncing. Discrete syncing of all folders takes a long time if you have lots of email and folders, and drains your battery significantly if you have an automatic sync schedule.
So, can we do this - port android email to win mo? Or would it be a re-write from the ground up of the linux software for win mo?
and here is this :

this is not the Q&A Forum !!!
i felt this was not so much a "how to" question, or a "my software won't work" question, but a "can we" for developers that fit better here. If I'm wrong, is it possible to move to the questions forum? If I'm right, let's figure out if we can do this.
Mods will delte this post, just create a new thread in the Q&A Forum
hmm, I set my out look to download as soon as the email arrives on their servers, so I get my email email almost instantly.
I have never seen that androids email in action but when I see my friend tomorrow I'll take a look at it. still G1's email doesn't seem all much handy to me , still it seems that method would save some data though.

HTC MAIL

I noticed that on the HTC Desire/N1 that the HTC Mail integration for lets say Exchange is different than on the incredible.
I really liked the Mail that has the emails in rows listing the subject, etc. Instead on the Incredible the emails comes in a single white backgrounded page and you have to flick up to read the next email. You don't have a choice to pick different options when you add the widget.
Am I am missing something here?
What you seem to be describing is the "Widget" interface. It only shows one page. When you select the "mail" icon, the one that shows how many emails arrived, it will come up with the list of emails, opened and unopened. From the widget you can get to it by clicking on the bottom left icon showing the small horizontal bars (in the widget, there are icons at the bottom.)

Looking for this type of screen that they show:
Exchange Widget? Not sure.. Just like this one better. It seems like the incredible doesn't allow for you to select the 3 tabs like it does on the UK Desire.
It only offers the 1st one.

Google as default calendar?

I apologize in advance if this question has been asked before, but, I absolutely HATE how the stupid samsung calendar is the default cal when making new events! I SWEAR THEY ARE STILL STUCK IN FEATURE PHONE WORLD! ahem, sorry for the outburst. Any way, is three a way to change that?
i'd like to know too.

X2 ^^ ... one feature that I missed the most that was on my G1 is the hyperlink of URL, address & phone number.
Especially the hyperlink for address, I drive around town alot for work, and plan my destinations on Calendar the night before. Not having the hyperlink to address has been a PITA.
s0niqu3 was able to push the stock 2.1 apps on to the Vibrant. Check out his post below. I haven't tried it out myself though.

Yeah nothing is more frustrating than putting in the address and when you want to navigate to it, it well doesn't work.
More specifically:
Replace touch wiz calendar with google default

That bar on top pisses me off, but I would rather have a tiny annoyance than using the TouchWiz calendar.
Follow the directions though, you have to remove the TouchWiz Calendar and TouchWiz Calendar Provider FIRST with a root file explorer or ADB (which I never got working), and then uninstall the residuals from Settings>Applications. THEN push/move the two apk's in the linked thread to system/app, then reboot.
You will lose access to a few TouchWiz widgets, and the home dock app won't work.

[Q] [email protected] configuration?

Hi!
I'm having a problem with [email protected] tile in the Metro UI. For some reason it doesn't show anything from my actual twitter feed and instead shows some other news feeds. If I go to the app itself everything is showing fine.
Is anyone else having this same problem? Maybe I changed some configurations yesterday but I can't be sure anymore.
The weather & stock tiles are working like charm though...?!?

or MS devs may not got it to load your profile perfectly
Metro social apps looking good...though i expect the are just as is for demonstration purposes. I expect when MS open the Store a fully fledged configurable apps will be available...
That's probably true, but just out of curiosity is anyone able to see their tweets in the Metro UI [email protected] tile?
As you can see mine just shows some news (from a source unknown to me) that has nothing to with my twitter feed.

Mine shows the same random tweets. I want it to either just show the [email protected] tile or to draw from my Twitter feed instead. This is bunk.

[REQUEST] Swipe txt/mail notifications left/right to mark as read or delete

Hi guys!
I'm probably not the first one who thought about that, but I cannot find much about it here on xda and I'm curious why it hasn't already be done:
Wouldn't it be possible for devs to include an option to swipe notifications left to mark as read and right to delete (with an "undo" option popping up) in a similar way to the Gmail app? I don't know if this would work system-wide (say, for third-party apps like Whatsapp), but it should at least be possible for SMS and maybe the pre-installed exchange email app.
I think an option like this right inside the notification slide would come very handy for generic SMS no one ever reads like for example provider messages and the like.
What do you think?

"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Although that would be useful, I don't think the swipe gesture returns any value to the application. Swipe just gets rid of the notification. The app wouldn't know if it was swiped left or right!
Besides if there are multiple notifications from same app won't all the messages get deleted then?

Hm I don't know much about developing, but if you were to mark it as read, won't the app need more permissions?
I mean in this case THE APP, say gmail, is going to your mailbox and marking the item as read and then returning that "read" value to the gmail servers, instead of your PHONE just avoiding the notification.
Then again I could be completely wrong here. I really don't know
You could also use a third party app : NotifierPro.
by desactivating the notifications from the sms app, and NP pops a banner that you can swipe left/right, to launch/read/dismiss. You can customize that.
But I guess that it would be nice too, to have it directly in the notification panel.
