CWM recovery method is the only way to root this ROM for now but it works with bootloader unlocked phones only. I have no idea for the locked ones. May be you need to wait for a new version Flashtool or pre-rooted ROM.
Hmm this version doesn't seem to change anything, or anything noticeable at least. Waste of time but atleast its a new firmware.

In Greece also stuck on 4.0.2.A.0.42. I've updated to .62, but I made a mistake and used the firmware for Arc, not for Arc S, so now I'm downloading the right file. My only hesitation is that I'm on stock kernel and therefore not able to root with .62 firmware, but I hope that this will be soon resolved.
The .62 is MAA, it hase some SlideME market also, the .42 was a Global FW for many countries, the .62 is just minor update to MAA (Middle East and Africa)

yes of course. I have all datas (i don´t "wipe data") Now i´ve a rooted .62 with all my datas. Only my own Background was after the update not on my homescreen, but thats no problem.
Bevore I delete now the bloatware, i make a "restore"-point with CWA. So, if in the future a new update come (OTA), i can install the "untouched" .62 and OTA should work without flashing with flashtool.

I know all there is to know about flashing the HD2 (WinMo and Android), but next to nothing (yet) about Xperia. I gather that .62 can't be rooted yet, so you'll have to downgrade, root and then upgrade back to .62 OTA. I have a lt18i...i rooted my phone and tried to update ota but installation fails. Its generic uk firmware. Nothing has been changed in the phone eg uninstalling system apps

I thought Generic Nordic is the same as Generic World? There was a discussion a while back that talked about how there isn't such a thing as "generic world" even though it's always referred to as that.

I have mine rooted, Lt15i, with generic world. Just rooted yesterday night, dont see bugs or problems at the moment.

I'm sorry, it's not so easy..... you have to root with recovery, and after that load a zip file with cwm. That's how i did it, and the way it works for me.

Can u provide a step by step instruction if you have time to write down?
I have an lt 15i, bootloader unlocked: yes, and now i am on lt15i 4.04 FR version.
What i did is:
flash the phone with a lt15i 4.04 FR edition with 562 kernel inside (it is on this forum)
start the phone with a lot of errors
root the phone with one click root. OK
put the phone to flash again and flash only the 4.04 kernel (ONLY, it is also on this forum)
at the end i started the phone, now i have a 4.04 FR version, rooted and with 431 kernel..but from pieces.
The removal process of FR bloatware it works ONLY with root explorer software.
Now i see there is a generic world firm but no easyroot process.
how to root ??? ( i want to install this generic world from one piece).

3. Download Superuser from http://downloads.androidsu.com/superuser/Superuser-3.0.7-efghi-signed.zip and flash it.
4. Rooted
I might aswell upload a prerooted system.img file, anyhow both methods requires bootloader to be unlocked.

How is the touch screen response ?
I flashed mine with 4.0.3 and 4.0.4 for LT18i and the touch screen was horrible for games (Max Payne, Dead Space, NOVA1,2&3...etc...) in both the cases. (display driver problem i think due to mismatch)
Is it smooth in this version ?

Generic = unbranded. You can flash it to any C6602. Even when flashing branded versions, it will never put a simlock on your phone.
If you use Google Translate on that site, it says 'Not packaged simlock.ta'.

As I know, you can flash it with flashtool either you have unlocked or locked bootloader.

Use search button... This fw is not rootable and you can't install recovery. Spain and HK fw is rootable.

Good news.
I own my Z almost 3 months, but I never rooted it yet. That's crazy for me, before I was thinking, that root will be first thing to do. So I just couldn't find reason for root. I think, that I'll root it, when next version of android will be available (4.3 or 5) as custom rom, because after it's announcement I will not be able to wait for stock rom. Also may be I'll flash CyanogenMod, when it's camera will have stock's functionality.
So. I can't say anything about rooting this particular device yet.

if your on the previous update that is 2.245 and rooted than yes.. you can update.. otherwise you cant.. and ofcourse your root will disappear.. but in one or two day.. somebody will come up with a rooting technique.. you can root then..

to do it officialy then use pccompamnion,
that will put you back to stock so you will have to root again...
if you are worried about data on your sd card, just back it up first

please be aware of your limitations.
Your sd card is safe,
use pccompanion (If you are inclined) to backup stuff,
ffs, I just read your post again....and face palmed myself again...updating via official methods is nothing special..just do it..use the software that your phone prompted you to install when you first connected it to the pc..its called pccomapnion (google it) but you will be better off SEARCHING and READING about flashtool
normally we expect people to be able to save their own files without hassle...

U can flash C6902 firmware or 6903 or other region
Because C6902/C6903 are L39h
C6902 = gsm/wcdma
C6903 = gsm/wcdma/lte
