16gb Thrive on Woot for $290 - Thrive General

Just a heads up, guys. $289. 99 for a 16gb WiFi Thrive on Woot.com
Sent from my HTC Inspire 4G using xda premium

Mine just arrived I like it so far but updating from 3.1 is causing me some serious grief.

I understand that you have to do a manual flash to update it before you can get the auto online update to work. The soot thrives ate shipping with very old (2nd Gen) BIOS that need/require the manual update
Sent from my NookColor using Tapatalk

Where can I get the manual updates? I have searched high and low.

Dev Thrive
I bought one of these, the device itself is great. One big problem...
It appears as though my thrive was a dev thrive. It has a custom rom and kernal on it. No android market or google apps at all. At first I figured I would just root it and put one of dalepl's custom roms on it. I was afraid to do so though, because in reading about how to root, it was very clear to only use the root tool with certain build numbers and mine is clearly not. Whatever is loaded on it, seems to be fairly stable and very fast...although it does go to sleep at times and will not wake back up. Has anybody heard of something like this happening?

You need to return this device. There is no way to update that load. It should never had been sent out with that load. The partitions are not standard and you cannot root it or load a custom ROM onto it.

I contacted Woot that day about returning it. They told me they had some in stock so they will be sending me a new one. It was interesting to say the least. Someone at Toshiba must have missed it!

Yes, I have talked to a few others that have received devices with the engineering load. I am supprized that Toshiba had let these slip out too. Not too supprised that a couple of Woot ones have it. These are remanufactured, but guess what, not by Toshiba. They have out sourced thier maintenance, so it is some outside company doing them. The tech probably checked that it booted and repacked it.

I almost jumped on that woot! Impulsive instincts were driving me to order one. I think the thrive has a lot of potential in the future. I'll stick with the cheaper hp touchpad for now and wait for tablet wars 2.0 this year for the shakeup before diving into a serious tablet with some horsepower.

I received my Thrive from Woot a couple weeks ago. I wasn't even looking for a tablet, but couldn't pass it up. This is my first tablet, and so far its pretty awesome. Glad to see there is a thread for it here.

Well thrive may be nice and for that kind of price its ok. (Tho i prefere my Toshiba Folio i acquired as 1st android tablet for 100$ in fact I love Toshiba brand... xD and the fact T device have a very good price/quallity rapport even on second hand)
Now brainstorming on: Foliomod 1.4 or waiting on a working ICS port (T device deserve waaayyy more love then they get atm :'( )

I agree, I think it is Honeycomb that can't use sdcards and not the device itself...
Still, with that said you may have a point. I mean, I believe the sdcard to be one of the selling points that seperate android from iOS...
In fact, I would go as far as to say that if the Xoom didn't have better cameras and...other stuff I probably would be getting an iPad 2 next month over a Xoom...but the fact is I already have some paid apps for android I don't wanna buy again on the ipad 2 plus I think I would miss all the extra features(that I probably take for granted like everyone else) that android has.
I don't know why people are complaining so much about the SDCard thing and other XOOM related stuff. I am really enjoying my XOOM, yes there are some updates needed, its a working OS, and an OS that needs to run on many devices unlike Apples OS.
I guess you really need to be a Google/Android fanboy to ignore little things.
The only problem I have with the XOOM is the price ($677 with tax). Even then it's not that bad, if the Acer one does come out at the price stated then it's a pain, but I am still going to be happy with my XOOM.
I'm not complaining just a little disappointed.
I had a lot of FC's and auto reboots.... maybe I just had a bad one.
Maybe I'll give Mot another try but I want to see what else is out there first.
To be honest, the Acer tablet looks fugly to me. I really dislike how the bezel and back on the Acer looks.
Now the Xoom is so much sexier, so I'm keeping mine.

From what I understand the Asus/Acer MicroSD workarounds are sloppy workarounds and not recommended by Google. I will wait for full Google support for the SDCard fix. Who knows if the Asus/Acer units will be able to be upgraded when Google sends out the prefered fix.
Plus the main attraction of the Xoom is it's a Pure Google Device and will be updated before all the other Tablets that are skinned because they haven to incorporate the update into their skin. It's the same with the Nexus S line. It already has Gingerbread 2.3 while other phones don't have it unless you are rooted running a Custom ROM. No Thanks. Pure Android for me.
One other thing. As far as the Asus goes, who's to say they have used premium parts for their tablet. There's a reason it costs what it does, that usually means cheap parts. I feel Moto used premium parts and as such we pay a lil extra for a well built device. You ALWAYS get what you pay for. If the Asus starts to break down early, we well know why.
Just mt 2 Cents.
I am keeping my Xoom.

I think the acer is ugly too.. not to mention a little heavier and thicker than the xoom. I love my xoom but I'm ordering an Asus transformer the second it can be pre ordered. I wasnt going to but ips screen, working sd card, free unlimited cloud storage for a year AND SRS sound.. even if the 16gb transformer is 449-499(which I think it will be in this range) instead of the reported 399 that's still a great deal just for the extras. I hope they release the 16 and 32 gb version at the same time because I'd really want the 32gb version
I learned with the SGS GPS. I'm not staying past my grace period for a supposed update that may never come.

I just returned mine and preordered an acer iconia a500 !
You should return it now because you won't have those things in 14 days. Hopefully, the Iconia and Transformer boards will be up soon. I think these new tablets are great, I just don't care about them beyond general interest.
The 4g fix isn't expected till June and some of the speculation says that we're not getting anything until then.

I'll post the same response here that I made to the exact same thread the OP started over at Android Central.
The sooner these ridiculous threads disappear the better. Why anyone thinks the vast majority of Xoom owners care why someone is returning their Xoom is beyond me. The same people will be littering the Transformer forums, assuming they even exist, with the same complaints. Good riddance.
I think those that have problems with these things need to reconsider their positions as early adopters.
If I thought I'd never get SD support on the XOOM. I'd wait for proof.
If I thought £600 was wasted because of no SD card, I'd have to reconsider if I could really afford to spend this kind of money on something I don't need.
On the other hand I agree that releasing unfinished products is something that has for some become the unfortunate norm.
Either way we all need to make our own choices.
I'm an avid fan of android and fully support it, at the same time I'm willing to accept its downsides.
I develop for android in my day job and if nothing else, my purchase of the XOOM is a gesture of my support for the platform.
There is more to it though and I have no doubt it will be a great experience.
If not, I have the working knowledge and technical background to contribute towards us fixes.
In the end, if we persevere it will all pay off. If we can't I ask you return your XOOM and buy it again in a couple if months after coming back to check our progress.

Discussing issues is fine. Presenting them in an argumentative and trolling manner is not. Thread closed.

Considering getting one, would like opinions...

So I am on tmobile with my SGS Vibrant and the sensation isn't getting me excited and the thought of waiting until near winter is killing me, and then I stopped and wondered why I didn't just get a tablet in the mean time?
The only thing my vibrant doesn't do that i wish it did was play dungeon defenders, and with 1gig ram and a tegra2 the transformer should play it easy. Plus I just want a tablet and being pretty darn cheap among it's competition without seeming to sacrifice much I just need the slightest push into trying to track one down.
Any downsides to getting a tablet and not upgrading my phone? Any downsides to getting the tranformer instead of waiting a month or paying a little more for something else?
Also I just read the pcmag review and was getting kind of annoyed. They kept saying it wasn't quite an iPad2 and complained about how the keyboard they got was buggy (iPad2 doesn't have that option, hell no one does), and that flash 10.2 is still in beta, but isn't apple pretty far behind in flash on their "mobile" devices?
Sorry, that almost became a rant. So opinions? Any one else who was like me (on the wall about getting a tablet) who took the plunge and now very happy/unhappy about it? I suppose I could order it on Amazon and would have time to return it, but I would like to know what I should be checking for at least so I can see if it bothers me or not.
Thanks for any and all help. I will now go look at the dev section and see if that gets me more excited or not.
I vote go for it! You wont be dissapointed. There are a lot of fun things to do with the tablet vs just a phone. Let your imagination run with this thing.
I was going to get the Galaxy Tab 10.1. But after finding out that it didnt have a microSD card slot that was a deal breaker. I then began to look at other Tablets. Then I found it. It had all the features I wanted and was cheaper than others. It also had an option for a keyboard that almost doubles the battery life. The decision was easy. I got my Transformer yesterday and I am super happy with my decision. Def go for it. Newegg had them in stock last friday at $499 free ship and no tax. I added a class 10 32 gig microSD. Came to like $570. Also tiger direct had the keyboards in stock as of monday. Have fun with your Transformer. Im very happy with mine.
Wow. When I posted this Amazon had stock of the 16gb model (which would be plenty for me), now they don't. Newegg does but there are no returns for refund (just in case).
I guess I will hold off for now since I am moving at the end of the month any way and shouldn't be splurging right now.
I ALMOST bought one earlier but so many people reported a lot of annoyances that I don't think I would get one without the assurance that I can send it back if I need to.
There's going to be annoyances with any device one gets, really. Especially with a first generation device like the TF. I really do suspect that some of the "problems" voiced are those of perception but, on the other hand, there are some bonafide issues that require addressing.
I've been fortunate, mine has been great. Rooted, Prime 1.4 and OC to 1.4. It performs quite well.
Shiznit... Amazon got more in stock, so I put one on my credit card... At least with amazon if I get it and feel stupid for having done so I get 30 days to return it... I think.
Otherwise I will be telling everyone how cool tablets are by wednesday and playing too much dungeon defenders.
However I already know to check for dust and screen bleed. Anything else to be cautious about? I probably won't pull out the magnifier glass or anything but I being a poor college student I don't want to regret my purchase (I will get the dock when school starts more than likely).
sound balance.
Flash is at 10.3 and Apple refuses to even consider it at the moment. The Android 3.1 update came with an update for the keyboard which it prompted me to install when I first connect to mine. No problems. Nothing close to a force close has appeared since I've had mine. Appreciate the product well enough I took some high resolution photos and did a blog post about it.

Does this mean like speaker placement, or speakers not being equal volume, or like imbalance in tones/pitch?
I've seen this a few times and am not quite sure what to not hope for. I guess I will have to pay attention to if the sound in general bothers me, but thanks.
And @4D, thanks, I will check that out. I hate how everyone bumps tech site reviews and makes it some what of a pain to find decent personal reviews (because, you know, I am not a tech site, I am just a person who wants to know what the device will feel like and not compare it to the ipad2)
see my thread "Still the new hotness".. I'm in lurve baby!!
I've had my TF for two weeks now. I have the 32gb with the dock. Bought it overseas in Australia (ended up being cheaper there than the US)! Apart from the fact that our company has complicated templates for MS Word and Excel, the machine is perfect. I've been able to VNC back into my full sized laptop several times, and it's really going to be a desktop replacement for me on the road.
I had an Asus EeePC prior, and loved that, and this is no different. My one annoyance is the right hand shift key, and that there is no keyboard shortcut for recent apps. However, the shift key is just a getting used to thing. As for the recent apps thing, if that's the only other issue, I'm doing pretty well!!!
Don't use up your upgrade right now on a phone. Wait till Christmas time when the nexus 3 will be upon us.

Not on contract at the moment, so I don't get upgrades. Maybe early next year I will go back on contract simple for a new phone (since the prices are getting pretty high on their own)

This is by FAR my favorite tablet!!

I've loved the concept of tablets for a long time, but two things that were always keeping me from replacing my laptop with a tablet - full sized ports and a video editor.
I've tried iPad and iPad2 - too limited
Galaxy tab (7 inch) - LOVED it, but couldn't justify keeping it anymore
Xoom - It was great, but didn't really have a use for it.
Acer Iconia - Really liked it, but again didn't do everything I wanted.
Toshiba Thrive - So far, I'm thinking I'll be able to replace my laptop. I can even hook this thing to a TV or monitor (with adapter) and use a full sized keyboard and mouse, external hard drive, game controller, whatever.
For what I do on my laptop, since I don't really develop anymore, I can do just about everything on the Thrive.
Even the movie editor, although basic, is working out for me so far..
Granted I've only had it a day and a half, but so far so good.
I played with all of the top rated tablets before I purchased my Thrive. And as far as I'm concerned, the quality and features of this tablet are among the best of all the currently available choices. But what blows me away is the total lack of interest from the xda development community. That and Thrive owners, including myself, had to literally beg for an xda forum. This is a total mystery. And they've left us no clues. Because I never have seen any negatives on this tablet, period. But what has scared away all the developers is aparently a well kept secret. I had high hopes when I first purchased my Thrive. But up until now only 1 and maybe 2 persons are qualified(?) developers, and have taken interest in the Thrive. And things are just plain dead right now, even at thriveforums.org. What a bummer! So I will probably end up selling it, even though it is a great tablet, and getting something that has more developer interest, such as the Asus Transformer. Because I like to play.
9-29 UPDATE: Rumor has it that the next Thrive update is going to make things more difficult for everyone, as Fastboot has been removed. If Toshiba does this, it will make it a lot harder for us to "play."

Man Lexus One. You should hang in there. We may not have any love from the XDA crowd, but those of us working on the Thrive are doing great things. I think you will see a lot more come along when ICS is released. This device by far is running smoother than any of the others. Tweaks I have made to the boot image for memory management has really stepped it up. Guys like to overclock to make the device run smoother, but right now, I do not think we need it. dj_steve is porting ROMs and giving you guys that like custom ROMs the ROms to play with. I am keeping those of us that like the stock feel what we need. I do not think going to the Asus will make you any happier. Development has slowed down for all the tablets. I think all are looking for ICS release and the source to go with it.
I am getting one of these soon (from the AndroidAndMe contest) and was excited about the ports and goodies and all despite the thickness. It also made me sad there is barely any development tho.

You could be right about things improving for the Thrive. However I think you are operating more on faith than on the facts. Because if things don't start picking up soon, the new quad core tablets will be popping up, and interest in Thrive development will probably diminish even more. Sorry to be so negative, but it's hard for me to have your faith right now. But I am thankful that the Thrive has got people like you and dj_steve to keep things interesting and fun. And everyone else who has helped in the area of development.
I just bought one last week when Was visiting the US (in fact am typing this on it!!) And have to say I love it. My wife bought an I pad, and I think she secretly wishes she got the thrive instead!! Love the connectivity and Android is far superior to iOS. As for the thickness, I don't even notice it now. The latest rom seems to have fixed the sleep of death issue.
And the price was great, worked out about £260, which is pretty cheap for honeycomb tablet.
All in all highly recommended!

Glad to here you like it. I enjoy mine also. At least when I can get it away from the wife. She's hooked on Angry Birds.
Every day there's something I like more about it.
Just last night I was messing with ES File Manager, mapped a drive to my windows share that has all my media and tried to launch a video (something I haven't been able to do over the network on other devices).
Boom, WMV, AVI, MP4.. all played flawlessly.
I didn't have to do anything special but download the file manager.
I'm putting my laptop on Craigslist.. this thing is officially a replacement for me.
.. let me rephrase that, for me, it is a laptop replacement.. not that it's a replacement for me.
..although if I was a tablet, my wife could push my buttons all she wanted.. haha

I've been following XDA for years, since I first bought my Samsung i760 and fell I love with it. Its a great phone that I always consider bringing back into service! Then when I jumped to HTC I found this the place to be, now I'm like wtf... how is the thrive so neglected? The potential this device has with full sized USB is insane! Why wouldn't devs take advantage of it? I feel like no one cares about the thrive, Toshiba turned around and made a tablet that all the fanboys on here ***** that the ipad doesn't have... the ipad doesn't have expandable memory, it doesn't have full sized USB or HDMI out, the web can could be better.... ppl flamed the ipad so much and Toshiba turned around and took all these ideas and put them into a tablet and granted its bigger than normal but its not overly so.
Toshiba went above and beyond making this tablet and so many people turned around and **** on it and ignored it... so now we may never get another tablet like this again. Soon we will all be told how much storage we need and be forced to upgrade when we either don't have enough or our batteries can't hold longer than a 5 minute charge...
Sigh, I'm ranting but I'm gonna start moving away from xda now I love their dev's and the projects they embark on but I can't take the forum as much anymore. Even the mods are getting on my nerves, like the post that's in the Toshiba dev thread in here... the mod says its not his job to keep a thread cleaned and organized... what crack are you ****ing smoking? If your not a dev or project manager it is your ****igng job you retard, why else are you a ****ing mod? Ive been a forum mod, IRCop, NetAdmin and if that's your attitude your just being unreasonable and I see that more and more here at xda. Kids these days are so backwards, I fear for future generations. I think I'll be spending more time over at thriveforums.org.
Anyway sorry for ranting...

I wonder if people fear the Toshiba name? When I got my galaxy tab the Thrive had just come out. I had minor interest only because it was a 10" tablet. When I ditched the tab and went shopping I was struggling between the Xoom and the 10" tab. The guy showed me the Thrive. I played with it for almost half an hour. The price was right...and having reward point certificates didn't hurt either I transferred files over using my USB thumb drive which was cool. Haven't tried the HDMI yet. I've been thru a few devices and this is by far the best one.
I'm very satisfied with my Thrive.

Love Thrive!!
I gave the NookColor to the kids for games, videos and Netflix after I purchased the Thrive AT100 on Saturday. Love it!!!!!!!!!!
I looked at a ton of different comparisons: Transformer, Jetstream, Galaxy Tab 10.1 & iPad2 vs. Thrive. None is a match!
From the standard SD slot, to the Full size USB & HDMI; to the great screen; nice weight and solid performance --- I'm in love!!!!!
I know the AT200 is out 'soon' so I'll upgrade then -- I have a 30 day return policy..... AT200 is a monster! Great job Toshiba! They came to the dance when they had a great product; rather be late to arrive then to be Dead-on-Arrival like so many others who came out fast with gen1 pieces of half-assed junk.
Love Thrive! I haven't even rooted; not certain I'll need to.
Cheers m8s.

Lack of development

I'm disappointed that there isn't much development going on for the Thrive. I'm also curious as to why? I bought one after doing major comparison between all the tablets available and I chose this one because of the specs, size and of course, capabilities. My friends have other tablets, such as the Acer 500 and I rooted it last night for him and it's nowhere near the speed of my Thrive.
I guess I'll just have to wait it out but damn, I want a new ROM on this already. Just having it rooted isn't enough to take advantage of even a fraction of the capabilities this thing has.

I think a lot of it has to do with the lack of developers having the device. I think if I had one I would probably be putting something together - but I have the Transformer - and no time at the present.
There has been ROM development, just not here.

I did and not too impressed with what I've seen. I think there are what, 3 ROMS available? I'm going to keep this but get the Acer A500 I think since it has tons of development right now.

I was in the same boat so to say my first choice was the thrive I happily bought it after much consideration of other tablets on the market at the time .. once I got home I enjoyed the speed and the thrives native apps but I went to XDA to se what was popping and nothing lol a dead tablet on the development front.so I tried the Asus liked the screen but didn't want to pat $160 u.s. for USB and extra battery life so i bought my Iconia and ill tell ya what I freaking love it besides some problems with Gameloft apps but usb HDMI micro SD I'm happy and amazing veiwing angles!

Well I have the thrive and it is rooted and has a OC Kernel and Dalepl's stock rom, am I sorry that it does not have some great rom on it, NO it is quite functional and is twice the tablet of any Acer Iconia, and just to be clear I HAVE HAD a Acer Iconia, Motorola Xoom and the Almighty Samsung and all lasted less than a week before returning them, have had my thrive since release and could not be more pleased, and all of the substandard tabs are gone!!!!
I waited in line on black Friday for the Asus transformer because it has a large development scene, but they ran out and I ended up with the Toshiba for $30 more. I've got to day, for what I paid, the Toshiba is cool, but I wish I could get some cyanogen on here.

same here. Love the size and Honeycomb. Have a Samsung galaxy tab 7" and wanted something bigger and newer. Made the mistake of upgrading to 3.2.1 and was hoping the great minds of XDA have figured out how to downgrade to root. Kind of disappointed on the development but maybe we weren't the only ones who went to buy the Transformer and ended up with the thrive. Only time will tell.
Don't know why this thing isn't more popular. Just got mine the other day. So far I love the fact that I can plug in the dongle from my computers wireless keyboard and an hdmi cable to my big screen tv, pair it to a wii remote and have at it. Absolutely awesome!

There is a lot more for it but not on this Forum, I would just say Google the thrive and the other forum will come up in search results and yes there is plenty of Development going on. I cannot put the forum's name here because they will just delete the name if not my complete post.
Yeah, I'm a recovering rom-flasher myself, and I was initially kind of bummed out at the fact that there are not dozens of choices for ROMs, but then I got to asking myself "Why?"
I have Cyanogen 7 on my HTC LEO, and I can flash a new version every week if I want, or if I get tired of that, there are many other ROMS I can choose from. But for the Tablet, I'm looking for a stable portable platform to read forums, e-books, maybe play a few games. The Thrive fills that bill, and the hardware is more versatile than most other tablets out there. I rooted the stock 3.1 ROM so I could use Titanium Backup and nmap, and I don't think I'll upgrade until Ice Cream Sandwich comes out, if then. 3.2 seems to be mostly for 7" tablets so it doesn't interest me much.
I see that there are other ROMS on those "unmetnionable" forums, but I've learned over the years to trust the developers and forums at XDA so I don't really want to take a chance elsewhere.
That's my two cents' worth and if you don't agree, I applaud you - enjoy flashing whatever you can find - it's a lot of fun, and I will continue to do so on my HTC phone, but not on my tablet. Just my opinion.

I wish you had one

I think a lot of it has to do with the lack of developers having the device. I think if I had one I would probably be putting something together - but I have the Transformer - and no time at the present.

I wish you had one jerdog. If I could I'd buy you one myself. I just picked one up online for $307 shipped out the door. It's a 16gb model.

I think it will be picking up speed soon. Compared to other tablets on the market right now, spec wise, the Thrive is pure ownage! I still have mine and use it frequently. I'm cool with just having it rooted for now so we'll see what happens in the future for development.

I dropped mine last night and cracked the screen on the bottom. It still works perfect and the crack doesn't even get in the way when using it. Wanna' buy it cheap?

Well then you will lose out because the Thrive on XDA will soon be dead and those of us on the other forum will have everything we want on our tablets and thank god that crap cyanogen is not on the thrive!!!!
Performance! But....
I have purchased two of these devices.... One 16G and one 8G. Both ate verymooth and perform very nicely.
Even though Im enjoying the units, I still believe that there should become level of focus on these units. Toshiba now has these units up to V3.3 and have things locked down tightly. Though I believe they did a nice job on the stock ROM, I still believe there should be a root option to admonisyer my personal device. I also believe that the collective brain trust of XDA could produce a ROM that shows the true capability of this hardware platform.
One of the coolest features of the 10.1 inch units is that it has a user replacable battery! How cool is that??
Im not a programmer and barely qualify as a script kiddie in this day of age. So like others on this forum, I have to wait for those with the knowledge and motivation to provide the future path and direction.

Anyway, glad another developer is on line. I think this is the best overall tablet around. So lets make sure it is. I hope you will be doing custom work, we need someone to do that for individuals that like custom ROMs. Take care.

I agree! This tablet rocks. I've have had the Kindle Fire, Acer A100, Nook Tablet, and now this and I love it. I will be doing some custom work.
Great! Custom work is what we need to round off this thing. Do you do kernel work by chance?
I have the Thrive 10.1" and Thrive 7" and if you have looked at my work, I mainly keep it stock. That is what I like and I have a lot of people who like that. If you need base ROMs, feel free to download and use mine.
By the way, sorry if you thought you affended me. Was not wanting you to think that. Just wanted you to know why I do what I do and where. Cheers

Xooms at Amazon Warehouse

If anyone is looking for a 2nd Xoom, you can get a great deal at Amazon's Warehouse.

Just picked one up like new/used. Prime shipping. Its a better deal than I could find in my local Craigslist!
Also got a ASUS PRIME for $499 as well.
I could have missed...
The press release but have moto stopped selling/discontinued the 4G/LTE original xoom? im looking for a new 4G/LTE old school xoom (as opposed to a used/second hand one).

Discontinued, from what I heard from Verizon, but our Xooms will continue to be going strong for a long time to come. Get a refurb if you can.
Just a quick update. Mine arrived and as advertised by Amazon, it was immaculate just like new. The packaging was a large generic cardboard box, the Xoom was shrinkwrapped and had the stick screen protector film applied. No original Xoom packaging was included. No manual. Xoom, charger and USB cable was included. Very well packed for possible UPS mis-handling.
HOWEVER, Amazon did not restore it to stock. The prior owner had rooted and put Tiamat HC 3.2. CWM recovery was also there. This was okay. Somehow I had expected a non-rooted factory machine.
Nevertheless, I blasted Tiamat with Team EOS Wingray. Xoom is performing awesome as expected.
This was the first time I bought from Amazon Warehouse and my experience gave me confidence that I wasn't getting ripped off. Very happy with the price and quality of a "used like new" device. Now I have 2 Xooms......
I just got one of these as well from this deal and it automatically upgraded to ICS and now it is constantly randomly rebooting... Does anyone else have this issue? I don't want to return it necessarily because it was such a good deal and amazon didn't restock them!

If it's me I would root it and start fresh with one of the stock rooted ICS rom or a well known rom like EOS ICS.
I might have to try that tonight. I know sometimes there are limitations on custom ROMs (e.g. non-working HDMI), do you know if any of the roms are entirely working properly? Also, I've read elsewhere that the Xooms with ICS *might* have a similar issue to the Asus Transformer Prime and ICS where it freezes and reboots randomly, but I don't know if that is officially true, but my issue seems to be similar.
If you are having issues with auto update to ICS.
Follow the instructions here to get the flashable OTA version of ILM77.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1446469
There is nothing custom to this ROM and 100% of it works.
This is what I'm running on one of the Xooms.
Hope this helps.
HDMI is fully working on every ICS ROM I've seen. I use EOS (#44 I think), over locked to 1.6Ghz, no issues whatsoever.
