That was gonna be my reply too... Module might be there but if you are using A500 rom the drivers aren't to control it....
There are a few A501 roms in the dev section, I use Harkon but am going to try Alexandra_II_A501_ver_1 soon...
If the 3G module still isn't working there may be something else that needs fixing....

Try the FCC's website
I've seen circuit diagram on their before so they might have one on the FCC page of the a500/a501

I really think there are a lot of things missing from A501... I've posted a 500 manual in this forum, maybe it will help.
3G retrofitting is a pia, you should try selling the 500 and buy 501...

Below the internal structure of the mobile phone watch!
(If the picture has the wrong places on guestbook please! I'll correct!My English is not good)
Polaris to talk about the following questions often arise!
Does not read SIM card! If you do not read most of SIM cards are SIM card connector is broken! Because SIM card connector cable are bad style is easy!
Do not read memory card! For memory card connector of the problem can be solved!
These two questions often arise!
If the handset at the same time. A microphone and speakers or bad, the majority are radio and ROM does not match the reasons for!
If less than WIFI, WIFI antenna to check whether the contact bad! Or ROM problem!
Keyboard part
The keyboard includes a touch screen and keyboard! Problem is prone to rolling keyboard! Rolling keyboard into the dust can easily bad!
CPU and memory are very few bad!
Recurring problem on these!
My English is not good! Expression is not good! Please forgive! Thank!
Sounds like you have a malfunctioning polaris. Try a hard reset or flashing to the original ROM. If neither works, look into having it replaced or repaired.
it's just my problem or the image is missing?

Tab 10.1 w/HDMI Connection

I swear I saw a thread about this but I couldn't find it. So I figured I'd share this with everyone. It so simple its stupid!!! Thanks Samsung for making a completely useless multimedia dock and forcing me to make one myself.
Here's a video on how to do it

I had taken mine apart trying to help and effort on this thread:

....figured I would link these together for the other helpful info over there.
Do you or can anyone tell me if the HDMI and the usb are operable at the same time? I have an in-car custom set up I'm planning and I think I have it but I need to know if they'll work together. I only need the 30pin to usb cord for charging. The rest of it will run off the HDMI. I could post up a schematic of what I'm trying to do if anyone is interested in helping with the design of the project. Thanks!
I would also like to know if you can use hdmi and usb at the same time. for example you can use an xbox usb pad and hdmi to a tv on the xoom and charge at the same time, could this be done on the 10.1?
Is it mhl. if so it switches between depending on which is plugged in. so its either hdmi or usb not both. dumb i know. it can charge at the same time though.

Kinda Fire teardown = possablities

Frankly I can't wait for someone to do a tear down to see what the exact hardware features and possibilities to mod the bajeebus out of the thing.
But this device is most likely a pass for me. Being as anything it can do, I can already do everything on my phone, netbook or laptop. There is a bonus however,the kindle touch 3g, has become a lot more affordable.
It would be awesome if the thing had an onboard microSD like the Nook Color does. Image it to a 32GB, swap them out and go.
iFixit posted a teardown here. Highlights:
-No hidden microSD. Sorry.
-what looks like a cast magnesium midframe. It should be pretty sturdy.
-WiFi module is identified as a TI WiLink WL1271 with bluetooth and FM support. This is the same chip as the Nook Color. Whether or not the BT or FM work is up to Amazon to have wired up to the right ports on the OMAP.
Bummer, oh well I'm still stoked to get mine tomorrow.
getting mine later today and am verrrry interested in the possibility of getting bt working.. after i root it and such, there any steps i should start with to see about getting it working?

thats the wifi/bt/fm chip
at the bottom of the pic mostly cut off, you can make out the external antenna jack

Until there is a custom rom, there really isn't a way to tell since the Kindle OS won't let you even attempt to pair anything...since it wasn't meant to.
apologies! repeated link, hence removed.

Micro usb sd card reader?

As you know you can get usb sd card readers. But these are quite big.
I wonder if a micro usb version exists that's quite flat. It would make the 16gb version a viable option.
Do you think something like this will work?
http://item.mobileweb.ebay.com/view...64a954ffeeccf4?itemId=160696197313&cmd=VIDESC
Someone posted this in another thread.
We need either a micro usb version of this:

Or this with a very small usb to micro usb converter. Smallest I could find;

Edit.
This might be better as it supports up to 64gb micro sd cards;

Bah, that micro-USB/USB adapter is enormous. I'm pretty sure they're extremely simple devices, since they're both USB so it just means that corresponding pins need to be connected. So why are they so huge? You could make one that was only as long as the necessary connectors, and it would be nearly invisible when it was actually hooked up.
I remembered reading a thread asking this over on the Nexus 7 forum:

Going deeper into that thread I discovered this:

LET'S FUND THIS! I would love for someone to manufacture this, even if I don't end up getting a nexus 10, it will mean any nexus device can use MicroSD no matter what!:laugh:
Also, this does exist now, but this is ugly and bulky compared to the 3d rendered final product in the product linked above, and it doesn't say if it supports SDXC or not

[DIY][GPS]how to fix your GPS ? Try this :D it works.

i got a ls980 this month. it's beautiful and powerful. i do really like it.
but the GPS is too bad.
hard to search GPS signal and can not navigate.
i have tried to replace the GPS.conf file shared from other guys. but still,the GPS works not very good.
so i tried to fix it by modify the GPS antenna. like this:
step 1:
tape the 2 metal contacts. shield it.

"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
step 2:
find a copper wire,tie this metal contact;
close your back over;
tape the other end of the wire along the phone, just like the yellow line in my picture:
step3:
launch GPS test.APK, is it works?
this is my ls980's GPS signal after my DIY:
sorry for my poor English.
hope that it can help you guys.

Might try it as i still have issues
