Problem with hotspot HD2 - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Problem with hotspot
In some rom connects seamlessly with my Iconia Tab via tethering, but in most hotspot Tab detects but does not connect.
In the last Sense that is that I like does not operate outside apk using the rom.
Would greatly appreciate help on this topic.

I answered myself.
Seeking the net I found PdaNet Tablet, if you install the apk on both ends (server and mobile as the tablet as a client) and follow the instructions easily connect BT and fixed the problem, I've also noticed that the consumption is less than when making wifi hotspot.

Where Can i download the built in Infrastructure WIFI tethering app for HD2?

Hi, im in need of some assistance. I have a new android device, the Archos 5IT. my phone is the Tilt 2. i have been unable to get my tilt 2 tethered to it thru wifi. reason being that the xda wifi router app uses adhoc mode. the archos will only see Infrastructure connections. Someone on the archos forum said the HD2 has built in a wifi tethering app that is infrastructure mode. Can someone plz direct me to that app or another wifi tethering app that uses Infrastructure mode only? also, free apps...lol thnkx in advance i figure if i download that app, ill be good, and wont have to take this device back. plus its giving me probs trying to connect thru bt also. lol FIGURES
If you can't find a free one, I recommend WMWifiRouter (v2 and above). It lets you connect multiple devices via Wifi (infrastructure style) and Bluetooth, as well as work as a USB modem and a USB Wifi dongle.
If you have Omarket installed, just download "Mobile Wi-Fi Router." It works GREAT!
Sorry about reviving an old thread. I've been searching and trying to find this exact solution, but neither of the ones listed here are doing "Infrastructure" mode. I'm currently testing WMWifiRouter (v2.0 - build 1502, downloaded directly from their site today) and when I set up the wifi connection, it only gives an option for Ad-Hoc (or none - which is for connecting to another access-point).
Am I missing something with WMWifiRouter, or is there any other app at all that will do Infrastructure mode? I don't mind having to buy something, I just need it working.
Thanks!

Sorry if I am not clear with your issues above.
But, Winmo 6.5 in HD2, has a native wifi tethering application.
There is an option menu (in Comm Manager) to turn on the Wifi Router.
This will make your HD2 as an Access Point. It can accept 5 devices.
Cheers..
Yes but only in adhoc mode, not in infrastructure mode, which appears to be needed for connecting some devices like psp and my new HTC flyer!
Same problem with GT 10.1 and HTC HD2
I have the wifi router program but it's not working with my galaxy tab 10.1, how can i tell if its adhoc or infrastructure signal?

Hi, I am researching this as well, and here is what I have found so far.
1. Android does not currently support/connect to ad-hoc WiFi, only Infrastructure mode.
2. If your Android tablet device can not see the WiFi from your phone hotspot but a PC Can, then it is probably ad-hoc, as my WinMo HTC HD2 is.
3. I have an Asus Transformer tablet with Android 3.1 and this can not see my WiFi from the WiFi hotspot settings, but my PC can see it and connect to the HD2.
4. If there is an Android ROM for your phone, (XDA Forums) that will run from the SD card, you can boot into that and use the WiFi hotspot (Tethering) from the Android ROM. This seems to work fine on my setup.
Hope this helps
really would rather not root if at all possible
since i live in fear of ending up with a very expensive brick (by messing up rooting my xoom) - has anyone come up with a way to make the winmo htc hd2 send out an infrastructure wifi signal?

Simple answer is no. Winmo 6.5 will not do infrastructure wifi hotspot, no matter whether native Winmo app or a 3rd party app (i.e., WMWifirouter). You're going to have to do what I'm doing with my HD2. Go thru the learning process of installing an Android build on your SD card, and then boot into Android. You've very little risk of bricking the HD2 if you read carefully and follow the guides. [However, these guides are definitely written by geeks, not editors who write and re-write to be explicitly clear.] Supposedly, the Android Wifi router is infrastructure, but I've not yet gotten to that point in my own process. The first one I tried to install (AmeriCanAndroid) didn't complete booting up successfully, so I tried another Android build (MIUI), but in it I'm not finding a wifi tethering app. And, in it, the Market app is crashing. So, I'm now on the search for a 3rd Android build. The payoff is big (wifi tethering to my Viewpad 7 tablet), so I persevere. Good luck to you on your journey.

Wifi tether issues using SR 2.0

Been having issues all along getting wifi tethering to work properly, I've had success sharing the connection over USB, I don't care if it gives me a single user tether or an mobile wifi hotspot, I just need it to connect with my lenovo x201.
It's a rooted incredible with the latest build of skyraider, I did the leaked OTA radio update to get that, which I assumed would fix this issue... guess not!
The laptop recognizes the network, but is now getting stuck at identifying, sometimes it will get an IP address assigned but will display no internet access (this is windows 7 ultimate)
Anyone else able to replicate this issue or know of a potential fix? I've tried several of the solutions for other wifi problems I found around the web and here (where applicable)

[Q] Is there a tethering expert around?

I just took the plunge in to sd android on my TMOUSA HTC HD2.
I am using AmeriCanAndroid all stock HD2.
Previously I was able to tether to a vista laptop with wm6.5 fine. I am trying to use the wifi tether on the the android side now.
My goal is to tether to a unrooted Acer A500 Iconia. I am not sure if it is possible. I have read a ton and can't seem to find a clear answer to this problem. Several people talk about rooting the A500 so it can see a ad-hoc wifi tether. Unless I misunderstood I also read that a rooted android phone could be a real wifi hotspot not just an ad-hoc connection. I am not sure if I am mistaken or not. If someone could clear this up it would be great.
I am not sure if I am doing the tethering correctly on android. I setup the tethering with a SSID, encryption and the like. the A500 sees the wifi SSID but can't seem to obtain a IP address.
The odd thing is that when I start the wifi tether the yellow wifi icon starts in the top right corner of the phone. Then another wifi looking icon starts next to it. it says tethering and wifi hot spot. I have tried using it also but the system locks and reboots. if I don't mess with the second tethering and wife hotspot it doesn't reboot, but i still can't connect.
The strange thing is that the main tethering lets me setup SSID and the like but the tethering and wife hotspot will let me setup a different SSID. I am not sure why they aren't connected.
I thought this all had to do with the unrooted A500 but I tried the same windows laptop that I had tethered to with wm6.5 and it can see the wifi on the phone but can't connect.
Thanks for any ideas.

[Q] sahred connection wifi is bloking internet (tethering)

Hi,
I am struggling with an issue regarding tethering on my nexus 4 stock.
First, I have a plan for tethering with provider.
When I turn on the shared connection via WIFI, I am not able to connect to internet from my device, even if the device is not connected to my PC. If i turn on the shared connection via usb or bluetooth, i can then use itnernet on my phone. It looks like an issue between tethering and wifi.
Other issue is i can not get a bluetooth tethering or even USB. I am stock with this issue for days and was unable to find any answer in the forum.
Your question is not really clear, (or I'm too stupid to get it), because your last sentence contradict the previous one.
Anyway, Tethering allows you to share your Mobile Internet with other WIFI capable devices. This is a quick guide on how to do it. Note that you cannot use the wifi on your phone while tethering, you have to use Bluetooth tethering or USB tethering, if that is the case. Here is a guide from google.
And just out of curiosity which version of android are your phone currently running? Because there was some reported tethering problems on 4.4.2

Hotspot Connectivity Issue

Facts: Rooted, Verizon Unlimited Data, Lollipop 5.0 BPB1
When I'm at work, college, and try to connect my laptop to the hotspot, the connection either does not happen or is disconnected/reconnects within seconds or half a second. I cannot maintain a constant connection, even when manually adding my laptop MAC address.
I have done some troubleshooting and found that the issue is not with my laptop and I only have this issue when I'm at campuses for my institution(2 campuses 40 miles apart). I have reflashed my ROM (to make sure something that might have changed was fixed) and still have this issue. I've also turned on the hotspot, ran a wifi analyzer on my laptop, and changed the broadcast channel as I saw my hotspot had the same channel as the college visitor & guest wifi, but this didn't help either. I am able to tether via USB to my computer, but would prefer to use the hotspot function as tethering uses up a USB port.
This is a very frustrating issue and any help/ideas will be greatly appreciated.
