Hi, I jsut got an A500... - Acer Iconia A500

for $200 bucks in really good condition! I love this tablet but I would like to know if anybody knows a way to watch Amazon prime videos on it and use the Lending Library for Amazon Prime Members, I haven't done research on this but is this possible?

So you have not tried playing videos off Amazons website yet, last time I did it worked

You have an Acer tab. Love it. Cherish it, and when the next iPad comes around, lets hope you don't forsake it.

Ok, you can hang around here for awhile

Have you asked on the fire forum? More likely that they'd have an .apk you could get your hands on.

Just bookmark the site use the bookmark widget and make believe it's an app

Thank you Asus

Just wanted to add a happy voice to the discussion here. I'm involved in social media as a consultant, I must always be on, always connected, using my TF via a wifi hotspot on my phone is a LOT more pleasant an experience than working via my phone with it's tiny little screen
Love sitting outside on my porch, working while sipping cofee without having to lug a hot, heavy laptop with me.
Thank you Asus for this terrfic device, I also thank you also for listening & responding to the feedback users are giving you on this forum!
i agree, this is a pretty awesome device
Ya~
ASUS did it well this time. Good job !
same here.
The only thing stopping me from using the TF exclusively is that there is ONE app not available yet....when it is...bye bye laptop....you' stayin' at home!

Lol Wooot
I agree, this is the best Android tablet release to date. ASUS has done a great job in designing (and pricing) this device.
I use it for business, and this weekend my wife asked if she could use it to look up something on the internet - it is now on her birthday wish list. She is an iPhone user, BTW.
I love my TF a little more each day! I love the freedom it gives me, no more having to pack and lug a laptop bag around with me!
Its the unhappy folks who tend to make their voice heard, while the happy rest of us enjoy life, right? glad to see someone give praise to the awesome device Im sittin on my porch drinkin a beer, listening to the radio and browsing the web on my tablet right now (colorado) Much love ASUS, and asus, please give us tegra3 transformer2 as soon as possible! haha
lol.. I just posted my own TF love post before reading this one. I totally agree!

If he's referring to netflix then just use splashtop and stream it as it runs GREAT on the tablet. Being able to text message, make a call, and watch netflix is a great feeling
I used to ask myself what was the point of a tablet and now I can finally understand the answer to that question.
Next week I think I am reordering mine. I sent it back to Amazon because it was having problems, but I am moving in a few days so I will wait until the move is done.
I like the lazy factor of a tablet I still feel much more productive on my PC, but I can't lounge around and poke at things on it. I also kind of miss dungeon defenders... I was thinking about the fact that the TF2 is just over the horizon, but I can afford to get a new TF and gift that to my little sister. That seems like a win-win if I ever heard one.

Netflix

Has anyone heard when the GT10.1 might be getting Netflix? Or Google Movies?
I love this tablet, but I don't like the lack of optimized tablet apps and the missing Netflix. I'm debating whether to hold onto this tablet and wait because I really do love the look and feel of the tablet and of Honeycomb or if I want to return it for an iPad 2 and come back to an Android tablet in a couple months (or a year) when there are more apps. So...that's why I'm curious about Netflix.
No word yet, but you're better off following this thread in the apps section:

Just read the same post... YES!!! Finally! ...the earlier apk for rooted TF101s with patch was awesome for sure, but it's great we're finally getting some official love (and support).
Yes, I also own a Xoom running 3.2 and you can sideload the Netflix app on it and it works fine. I am waiting for it to show up in the Market though so I can get the automatic Netflix updates as opposed to the sideloaded version that you must manually update. Hopefully, the TF will get this working in 3.2... Keeping my fingers crossed...

That requires root and the installation of a patch. I have no time for such things (including messing around with unrooting when then next TF update comes), and so having an official Netflix app will be most welcome.
http://eee.asus.com/en/eeepad/transformer/specification
Theyre claiming Netflix(us only) on their site, so possibly after 3.2
Keeping my fingers crossed. I've held out on rooting this far. Love my transformer and honestly can live without netflix on it, but it would surely be a plus to have it added.

For me it adds an extra component to the transformer that other tablets already have. At this point android is playing catchup to Ipad. (well..everyone is)
They all are, but android has a good chance to get there, but they need to add what competitors offer and then add their own extra spice.
Personally, i have netflix enabled in all my tvs at home, but would love to have it on my TF for road trips. If i stay on a hotel, tether off the phone in the car..it just adds more thrills to an already good device.
Oh, and the TF has replaced the newspaper and book in my restroom. BEST reading material for when taking care of business.. Imagine watching some movie while pooping..lol Legs would fall asleep..

[Q] wanting to buy the TF.....

SO I had a nook tablet and I loved having an android tablet. I put CM9 on it and for the most part it worked just fine. I ended up getting rid of my NT because I wanted a full tablet and not something that pretended to be one. I am having issues deciding one what I want to get now.
I love the TF for the price. But I am concerned about not having flash with ICS anymore. Has there been any work around with the custom ROMS out? I kinda feel like if I can't have flash then I might just get an Ipad2 while they are still around. If there was a way for flash I would be sold.....gotta be able to watch my porn. lol..jk jk jk

New browsers will not have flash. So, the new chrome browser does not have it, however the old stand by browser, as well as dolphin and some other browser still have flash.
It works fine on the tf.
Yup, Flash works fine on the stock browser.
If you go to a page thats built up with 90% flash adds, it can be a bit slow with loading the page. But it works just fine. (ICS 4.0.4)

I think that just made my decision for me. Thanks guys! Are you guys using stock ICS or a flashed ROM
Im using team EOS nightly build 19, as stated in my signature
But official asus 4.0.3 works fine with flash as well.
My recommendation if you decide to get it is to also get the keyboard. I didn't think that I would really use it but with the extra input ports and battery its great.

I bought one from NewEgg today for $289, includes docking keyboard! It's refurbished with 1 year warranty. So, don't buy if refurb scares you, but it's fine for me.
(I can't post a link here because I haven't made enough posts yet, but you should check it out!)
FYI, the Newegg deal with the keyboard dock is 389 (refurbished) -- you have to select the special deal when you go to add the TF101 to your cart. It's 289 for the tablet alone.

I wouldn't worry about all the idiot idiotic "tech" sites claiming flash is dead etc etc.
They are clueless cretins. I wouldn't trust them to polish my shoes. Flash just got updated to 11.2 a couple of days back.

I can watch the youtube website 720p and be quite happy.
The ipad cant use the website no flash the ipad has to rely on an app slow buffer times
If you want me to make a massive list I don't mind helping somebody not choose an apple.
Don't get me wrong I owned probably 7 ipods and when the iphone first came out i loved it and gave it a try. Over the years though they have stopped innovation lacked things and there new hardware is actually dated hardware now. Guess I would be classed as a convert lol

Then you truly won't have flash... Among other things. Apple products are good for people who don't care for customization or versatility. My TF can do anything that an iPad can do... The inverse can not be said. My TF with dock is without a doubt the closest thing to a laptop replacement available.
The iPads sure look cool though and sleek... Beyond that, their limited versatility has no use for me.
Apple is made to be idiot proof... They are like safety scissors... You use then with no fear of injury, but beyond play time they lack true use.
P.s. I was an idevice user until the iPhone 4. I've had the og iPhone, 3g, 3gs, 4, iPad 1 and iPad 2. They are good devices, but like others have said, apple has lost all innovation and opted to keep almost the exact phone since the beginning. Many others like myself desired change a well as free will of our content and devices.
Either way you should be happy with what you choose, we are lucky to have these options, we didn't have so many options a few years back.

Nice to hear that he's open for 2014 stuff.
Depending on the exploit vector it may or may not work on the new fire-hd. If it is completely OS based then there may be hope that both devices are susceptible to the same flaw if they are on the same OS level. I got the impression he was saying since he didn't have a 2014 model, he was not going to claim they work on one.
Anyway, i only have mine until Thursday morning when it gets opened but good luck to the whole community. it is a pretty cool piece of hardware as a decent price.
