[Q] add different languages to KF? - Kindle Fire General

I would like to add Dutch, French and German to my KF. I wouldn't mind being without these languages but the KF sometimes doesn't switch off the automatic word correction e.g. when I'm typing a mail in Gmail,...
Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk

Last I knew since the KF was designed for the US, there are no options whatsoever to add languages by default.
I did see the swift key install said it could have 3 languages supported at a time.
You might want to give that a try.

I have rooted my KF, so I can change the keyboard, even though I'm quite happy with it. I do wonder though, why only English is offered since in the USA, English is not the only language, no?
Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk

It's the official language therefore the only mandatory one.
The site is all English from what I've seen, etc etc.
Everything I've read is this product was designed strictly for the US.
Just how the majority of video games are in Japan. I don't get mad that I can't get them in English if I export.

Root your device, install "Any Cut" from Market and then create shortcut
New Shortcut - Activity - Input Languages
It will then create shortcut onto your home screen, from there you change the language hope it helps

Use SUPER MANAGER and change/add the following 2 lines in file /SYSTEM/BUILD.PROP (requires ROOT privileges)
ro.product.locale.language=xx
ro.product.locale.region=XX

Thanks, both of you guys! Is there a different end result with both of these steps? Also (I know this is stretching it a bit), is there a way to change languages on the fly? I do use English half of the time too, so it would be nice to change the language on the fly.
Thanks a bunch!

hi, It looks interesting, but what about Right to Left languages such as Hebrew and Arabic?
Is there any chance to install Arabic Keyboard? and Browsing Arabic websites?
Thanks a bunch! as ctgchaos said

Nice proof of concept Albert
is there a way to change the keyboard to be Iphony ?
in other words, can we change the pressed button gfx to be a popup button thingy so it shows the letter pressed ?
Nice.. i like opal full keyboard "cleaner"
Is this cab all you need for this or do I need a separate file to install?

great work my friend, thank you for your share
This would match my new system font perfectly! Thanks, maybe I'll re-mod this keyboard...
can we expect a "cleaner" skin for the other two opal keyboards??? The full qwerty and the phone pad???
It's skinnable, but is it possible to make the landscape qwerty bigger? I really don't see how it's cleaner TBH. I like the original more. It looks more "cleartype-ish"

XT9 in Portuguese. can it be change?

Hello,
i bought one TD2 in English, but because i write a lot of SMS, there is any away to put in portuguese the XT9, other models like HTC Touch HD, and Touch 3g, it was possible to change it, a .cab file can give the chance to put more languages in the XT9, my question is if there will be the same possibility in the Diamond 2.
Best Regards,
Rui Magalhães

Bulgarian keyboard layout on HD2

Hello --
I am trying to set software keyboard layout on touch input (HD2) but so far I am unable to do so. I do have resco keyboard, but the software keys are so small you need a stylus to press them correctly. Has anyone tried to enable more keyboard languages on the default (touch input) software keyboard on HD2 WM6? Any info will be greatly appreciated
Use this one, it has phonetic layout, buttons are big enough - and it's free:
Search the forum for Finger Keyboard 2.1 and you will find what you need
Thanks! You've made my day!

Колега,виж това!При мен работи добре.
Finger Keyboard is very convenient since it supports a myriad of languages out of the box - including Bulgarian. Needless to say, the biggest advantage is that it is free.

yes, it's a great keyboard but no so convenient on the hd2 touchscreen. using the standard keyboard is easier...
is there a way to configure the standard keyboard with bulgarian layout?

Sorry, but what kind of a question is this? You mean word prediction?
No I m talking about the ability which iPhone has to define a selected word in terms of its meaning ...
When you select a word using an iPhone you have the ability to define this word ...
I hope to be understood now...
If you mean adding a word/phrase to your personal dictionary (for auto-correct, etc):
Settings > Language & input > Personal Dictionary > "+" (add)
Edit: Seems you're looking for the actual definition of a word, posts below mine have answered that already.

You might look in Google Play for such an app. I couldn`t say right now. It is not build into android afaik at the moment.
Just type or say Define "word" in the Google search bar

Here's how to get the lollipop Keyboard.

Did you know that you can get lollipop keyboard without any third party installer . Update the google keyboard but it can't be done directly . Open your mobile browser type Google Keyboard in Google search .
Click view on Playstore. And update it .
See reference image down.

Does not work this way. "Google Keyboard is not available in your country." (I'm from Germany).
But I installed quite some time ago some early version. Did hope for an update. Is it improved compared to some lollipop preview from September or maybe October?
Anyway I'll just wait for official Lollipop for my Moto G 2nd.
the lollipop keyboard was automatically installed on my moto g 2014 about 2 weeks ago.

Thanks, worked here as an update.
Keyboard with numbers and symbols
Another useful setting for me on Google Keyboard, is being able to have numbers separate and easy access to other characters like > % < * etc as I use apps like Tasker/Autoapps a lot.
To achieve this from Appearance and Layouts submenu > Select Customize Input Styles > Press Top right + icon > Select Language (my case English (UK)) > select Layout PC.
As I am used to a PC keyboard the layout becomes very similar (with added advantage of swype) and pressing shift key I see the other symbols easily, some long presses are more intuitive, like the comma long pressed becomes < to get to £ shift keyboard longer press $. For me makes a world of difference.
Thank you, it worked, I like it but I still prefer Swiftkey.
