hi. can anybody please help me on how to activate my hd2. i am currently running Pdaimatejam Wp7.5 mango 7740 build. and in its features , it says no chevron unlocker needed, i already have the activation code. i have tried several times but it says its wrong. i want to know whether i have to use any special procedures , like using the HD2 Unlocker kit ? or maybe my activation code is just wrong...

Two possible possibilities :
1- Do a reset from "about" menu. (once, my code didn't work, told it was invalid, after a rest it worked)
2- Your code is invalid, get a new one.

If you need a activation code, I just did one for this rom the other day. I read a few threads where people are stating you have to call etc. I got in touch with their live online support (mind you I was doing this at 4am in Australia) and only gave them a contact number and name.. they generated a key and made sure it worked.

so when i tried to sign in before to my email it wouldnt work because it asked for the activation code. So i called microsoft and put the activation code in and it worked but when i try to download an app it says cant get this info right now. check back in a little while? what do i do ?
You should've looked at the stickies where you posted your thread. Ofcourse it won't work, you have to disguise your phone as an HD7 in order to get apps off the market, Activation code itself is useless. Just follow this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=912218

I got WP7 on my HD2, everything works fine but MarketPlace, after two days trying Microsoft Chat finally I got my activation code, now everthing is working fine but I cant get any game or app from Marketplace, I get this error
"Can't get this information at the moment. Check again in a little while"
I have tried everything , reseting, changing time region and location but doesnt work, I tried to get apps from zune , when I get the apps from there it says everything is okay and your application will be installed soon, but nothing happens and nothing will be on the phone,

I found the problem , I had to run HTC Connection setup, now everything works fine !

I did both, before and after activation. Have the same message (in German) as stated above. Going to do some research on XDA but if anybody has an idea in between just let us know...

I did them all in order, then got my Activation Key and after activating I did the registry part again and ran the Connection Setup after everything and it did the job
Ah , btw, for Activation Code, u can get it via Microsoft Online Chat support,

but if ur outside of US u need to get a US IP using a VPN then check to see they cant see if ur behind proxies, if everything was okay go to the chat and tell them that u need a activation key they might ask u where u bought the phone just say something, if everything is okay they'd ask u for ur full name and your mobile number which ofc should be a US number,
When he asked me for that I answerd with 1 minutes delay coz I didnt know where to get a US number, then I said "is it necessary to have a US number coz I dont have it at the moment, can I give a international number like a UK number" then he said "I see, are u located in the UK" I was almost there I didnt want to ruin everything he was about to give me the coe, then I said "Not at the moment" , then hye said "Okay give me that UK number" and that did the trick and he gave me the code
But dont forget the best way is calling Microsoft support center in your country, and also for the chat way u need to try different operators coz most of them say u need to call support center and becareful remember the operator names and also use different name and email every time u go to the chat system , I gave them all fake email name and number

I have done all the steps (haven't yet wiped the phone) got the activation key working but when I try to install any application I get : There is a problem completing your request. Try again later. Error code: 80004005 or I get: Can't get this information at the moment. Check again in a little while.
Nothing worked and I really running out of ideas. and I really want that phone to work, as WP7 is amazing!
Okay so you have activated ur Windows already , if so do the registry part again and see if it works or not !
I mean this part
1. Download XBMOD Deployer - CLICK HERE
2. In your Windows Development tools you installed earlier there should be an application called "Application Deployment". Connect your phone and open the program and install XBMODDeployer.xap. This extracts the provxml into /My Documents/My Ringtones/.
3. Download TouchXplorer - CLICK HERE - and install this .xap the same way as step 2.
4. Using TouchXplorer copy the file in /My Documents/My Ringtones/ to /Windows/ , overwrite if asked. - Give it time to open the Windows folder it takes a while.
5. Download HTC Connection Setup - CLICK HERE - same as above deploy to phone.
6. Open HTC Connection Setup and setup your network.
7. If your camera setting are not showing, in settings region, change display language to: United States. - this shouldnt affect anything if you are in a different country. Im from UK

I just want to share my experience regarding re-activation of windows phone 7 using the same key.
I flashed WP7 rom on Nand, got activation key from microsoft and using this key activated the wp7 successfully, Due to some reasons i reverted back to andriod (Flashed on NAND). After few days i flashed windows phone 7again and tried to re-activate the windows using the same old key but i was not successfull. Following are the step which i perfomed to get it working
1. Set date and time on you device before activation.
2. Logon on to windows live account and from devices tab remove the existing device from the account. (once you activate your WP7 it will automatically be added in your live devices list)
3. Enter the key and Activate windows .. it will work.

I went into zune, and deleted my device. I tried to go into the market and it says try again later. I go into XboxLive and it asks me to log in, when entering my email and activation code, I get an error message, anyone else?
And what happens if you buy a used HD2 that has already been activated for WP7...like I'm thinking of doing. Can you get an extra activation code from M$ or will they tell you to get lost as that IMEI number will already have been used? Thanks !

You can't use the HD2 imei to get a code from MS anyways... they don't support wp7 on the HD2. Find a HD7 imei to give them if they ask for imei. I know a couple I could give you if you need one. PM me if you do.
i've flashed many times wp7 in my hd2 and my first code works always!!!Try it after a HR and also after a wp7/wm6.5/wp7 again...The same key has "reactivate" my leo at last 3/4 times!!

Oh I see, that's why you have to tell them you are calling from another phone? In several activation guides I saw a reference to MS asking for the IMEI but not that you had to get an HD7 IMEI.
Microsoft France never asked for my iMEI to give me my unlock code.
They only requested my name, email adress and phone number. The phone number I gave them was not the one of the card that was in my WP7 HD2 so they can't have recovered the IMEI this way

Hi , Just flashed my HD2 with WP7. got it activated with no problem. lost the file where i had copied the Activation code. is there anyway to get the code off of the phone. i was thinking of flashing mango ROM and don't want to call MS again.

Hi have just tried that and it says that the activation code is NOPVK-NOPVK-NOPVK-NOPVK-NOPVK but thats not what I originally put in.

I am very new here. This is the first time I tried installing windows 7 rom on my phone and I am so glad that XDA community have made it so easy to do it. I installed PDAimatejam 7.5 tango latest rom posted in the forums. After installing the rom i setup everything and went to market but could not download anything it required activation code. So i got one from microsoft and entered it. The phone got activated however I still cant download from market. It goes to setup market account window and then fails to do so and gives me error code 8000FFFF. Any ideas?

I tried that already infact i installed another rom and then installed this one back again. Now i got additional problem it says my sd card is damaged :laugh:. My god! Somebody just help me please

your card is locked if you tried Yuki (BTTF) ROM... this rom is only which lock card.. if you not use Yuki ROM then simply is compatibility problem (card not damaged, you still can use it)....
if you locked card then first unlock it with sending DEV_STORAGELOCK.cab file to phone

Thanks I am trying that now. Btw what is the reason i cannot access market>? even after my device is activated. I think I will go back to android. Loved the interface though. This was my first time on windows mobile and i loved it really. I cannot access market so I think I will be missing a lot of things. I will give it a last try and then go back to android if I am unsuccessful yet again. In the mean time please keep posting ur suggestions. Really appreciate it. Thanks

also is better to use WiFi internet connection not data connection
also be sure you have hardware radio 2.12 or 1.15 flashed on phone..
also dont forget, HD2 device is not original WP7 device and anything can happen... also almost all problems with WP7 is related to incompatibility with SDcard...

Thanks. I had installed yuki to check if i could download from market.but it did not so i reverted back to pdaimatejam rom just to get sd card damaged message on first boot so I tried like what you said, installed yuki again so i could unlock the card and its giving me the same message on first boot too.
boot to magldr menu
* 10. Services, 4. UseLast24NAND
* 10. Services, 5. ClearSD MDR
* go to 5. USB Flasher and try flash Yuki ROM again
phone after flash must start WP7 and the you send cab file for unlock... this is only way to unlock card without old Nokia phone

Yup thanks a lot. I did as you said and my sd in unlocked and i am back to pda rom. But still no market . I tried using wifi. but still cannot access it. It cannot detect my region. Right now Im in thailand. Could that be a reson? Market is not supported in Thailand? It tries to detect my region and then gives me error code 8000fffff. Ill wait till tomorrow and see if things get better. Anyway thanks a lot!!!! you guys rock.:good:

I tried that. Made a new live id itself before activating the phone and used that one. but still i get error message when its trying to setup my marketplace. It says loading in country list then gives me error msg and asks to try later. Someone was telling me abt chaveron unlock or something like that? And what does market fix mean in this PDA rom? I thought market would be working out of the box. The version of windows is 7.10.8779.8. Everything is working like a charm except market . The phone is so snappy that I just dont want to go back to android. Will that chevron unlock thing help me? I dont want to try without asking because yuki rom already gave me enough trouble .
I feel so ashamed to bother a lot, but I know nothing about windows phone and I just cant get past this market thing. Thankyou very much for all your suggestions. Please if you dont mind do keep suggesting me some ideas untill i fix this damn thing.
forget chevron unlock... this is very old way unlock and not working with new ROM's... now all ROM's are full unlocked and this is 100% better than old chevron unlock
did you sync phone with Zune?
if nothing helps, try use US English marketplace... dont have any other suggestion...

Finally its working, the problem was with zune account. I created a new one from my pc and used that and its working like a charm now. Thanks a lot. Guess I will be around windows 7 thread for some time now.

How to change your zune account?
you need zunetag (gamertag) if download not working... not need for changin zune account
login to xbox.com with live account and set gamertag
for example (https://live.xbox.com/en-GB/MyXbox/GamerProfile)
