Does anyone else really dislike unboxing videos? - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 General

I still search for and watch reviews of the Galaxy Note to see general opinion, but I completely skip unboxing videos now. They're 99% identical and there's almost nothing worse than a review by someone who has used the phone for oh..... 30 seconds.
I really don't understand why people keep making more and more unboxing videos when so many already exist.

I watched as many as I could find while I was waiting at my doorstep for FedEx to deliver my note. I have not watched one since. I would say there is a time and place for them.

Dont mind unboxing videos much. But what pisses me off is unboxing videos with preopened boxes. Whats the point if youve already opened the box before the video lol.
Side not, videos someone reviewing a product they dont own, showing pictures. That sh1t drives me crazy.

yes i agree with you. i like to see a good review starting with unboxing but there is no video like that. unbox it for 5 mintures review it for 1 minute this is how todays videos like

Well I do unboxing videoa of my own products. And I'm part of this unbox website in the Philippines. I own all devices because its a hobby of mine. Show some love!

I agree they are terrible

Can not stand them - I know I don't have to watch them, but seeing dozens of them in my search result really does piss me off. There should only be one for each major language spoken on earth. If you speak english and you can see there is another english unboxing video on U-tube, don't make another one!!!! I want to see the product, not "and here are the headphones, they're **** so I won't open them........ and here is some paper... hang on......................international warranty....... and here is a usb cable. This is the end where it plugs into the computer, the other end goes in here, um, where is it, er, not sure where it goes......................................................................Lets see what we have here...... wait a minute................................................. yeah, it's a battery. Oh I almost forgot................................. this is George, the postman who brought the package here this morning.............. If you're wondering why he's tied up and gagged, it's decause he didn't want to feature in this video................... but I said he had to, as I have to document everything, right from the beginning............. else it wouldn't be a proper unboxing video....................................................... Here we have the charger - looks cool - I like this charger............................... what does it say.............................................................................................................................................. can't read it............. Hope you enjoyed my product tour................ if you did......................... please subscribe........................ **Mmmph-urghhh**..... Shut it George".
Rant over.

Unboxing videos are a waste of time, maybe except the first one. Running few random games, benchmarks, interesting apps and talking briefly about some things that make this particular model stand out from the crowd is much more informative. But most ppl seem not to get it. I just wonder, who watches this crap, maybe they watch each others' unboxing videos???

I hate videos, period. I prefer reading an article about the gadget, backed up with a few screenshots.

my youtube evo gaming video

this video is old but when i made it you tube said that it violated some copy right junk, so the video would not be open to the public. well i noticed that i received a comment on my video, so apparently it now is available to the public i thought i'd share a link.

Impressive! I had wondered what the 3D gaming capabilities of this little device were, this video showcases them quite well. Now, about the 24+ hour battery life... what sort of usage are you getting out of it for that time? I'm just curious to know, I'm happy with my 12-18 hours, but that's with alot of idling.

Engadget Review... No Flash?

Pretty insane review: http://www.engadget.com/2011/04/28/samsung-galaxy-s-ii-review/
Very impressive, especially coming from them.
Anyway, he says that Flash didn't work on his review device. Does it work on your shipped devices?
Is the phone as good as the review? Pretty glowing (and surprising) sentiment from Engadget.
It works fine, but he fell into the same trap as me... it just needs turning on!!

Its turned off by default.
Just download flash and enable it in settings..

Oh wow, I really hope that wasn't the cause in Engadget's review device... That would be sad haha
Yeah its sad that an iphone user had to do the review. Just watching the video of him demonstrating the phone and trying to close a folder hurt my brain. I was yelling backbuttton the whole time in my head.
Its one of the very few devices getting a 9/10 score from them. iPhone 4, Atrix 4G got 9/10 as well.
Nothing new though, I'm still convinced this is my next phone. Only should the device feel so bad in my hand that I start crying will I buy a HTC Sensation.
lol or cry
"Update: Thanks to our reader David, we've now figured out the root of this little problemo. Turns out the browser required us to tick an "enable plugins" box to get Flash running. We did so and, sure enough, in-browser Flash was a go. Frame rates have been consistently high across multiple websites and videos, which is in keeping with the rest of the Galaxy S II's performance."

What if David tells them it's actually an iPhone, will that make it 10/10
I also posted the same in Engadget, asking them to check in settings. Oh Well, atleast they listened to someone! Overall, i am impressed by the review, and the fact that our SGS2 got a 9/10 from engadget shows that it truly is a hallmark device!
Cannot wait to get it.
If this phone had a version of TouchWiz that removed the redundant hub features, and a few other little issues Vlad found, it might have been as close to a 10 as they've seen. They've mentioned on the podcast that there might never be a 10/10, but the SGS2 is nearly there.

Once the campaign is over, discussion stops until device is available Keep in mind, after Kreyos you had HOT watch and Omate, and new Sony SW2, Samsung Gear, etc. Too much in the news which takes attention away, and people forget about Agent and Kreyos...
Here is something Kreyos mentioned that has me a little worried:
"only one 3rd party watch app can be downloaded to the watch at one time. Whereas we have default Kreyos watch apps already built into the Meteor itself. We can hold 20 watch faces."
Not sure how many 3rd party apps there will be, but still, one seems like a big limitation.

If it's a memory limitation, hopefully they will have a way to off-load some native apps to allow more 3rd party ones. It is kind of alarming because it would be a disaster to rely purely on native apps. If I learned anything from my use of MetaWatch, if it wouldn't be for Noah/Community edition and other custom user stuff, I would probably give up on using it with "native only" support which is at a very slow pace.
Btw, I still haven't seen any indication if they are on track with shipping schedule. I know they are talking about survey letters being send out and making a really big deal out of it, and taking attention away from the main concern of shipment date.
Wearing a pebble right now... Also a backer for kreyos. Can't wait to get it

My main concern with the Kreyos is thickness. If I don't like it once it comes, I think I'll go for the agent watch just because it most looks like a normal watch. Unless something better comes along.

That is something I am worried about also. The pebble is pretty damn perfect in size... May change out the watchband but the kreyos just looks bulkier from teh pictures... Have to wait til november to find out.
Not officially posted, but here is their latest video:

You can see the reduced logo compared to their previous prototype.
My fingers hurt watching that.. hopefully they're not but it looks like those really squishy buttons that take mad force to get a reaction... it's probably just the way the person is pressing them, making dramatic button presses =P

... or just a part of workout for your fingers since its targeted as "activity" watch. Actually, I think that was an awful video. After such a long silence they should have released a video demonstrating it's smartwatch functionality instead of handful of awful looking watchfaces and a general functionality as a smart-stopwatch. I'm not knocking Kreyos down, those guys are the real deal and ran a good crowdfunding campaign. But looking at it now after seeing what Omate and SW2 can do - it looks so bulky and limited, based on that video alone, not general description of functionality. They should have produced a better video.
They posted an update saying the buttons have been fixed since that prototype (they were testing the waterproofing) and claim that engineer's wrist/arm is unusually small. I still think its going to be bulky, but its the same thickness as the Omate. They also admitted the video sucked.
I think they are unfortunately giving in to the impatient people on their page and shot a real quick video. I hope they don't continue to 'give in' to comments on their page and do a rush job.
Hi all backers,
We received many comments and email regarding the video, so here are some FAQs regarding the video:
1) Buttons issue
This is one of early prototypes, the buttons are very tight because we are testing the waterproof solutions for the watch. We have since fixed the issue.
2) Why is the screen not clear/sharp?
If you look closely, the camera's focus isn't on the screen, therefore it might look "blur-ish" or unclear. The Kreyos Meteor uses Sharp's Memory LCD, which is one of the best LCDs that's available in the market. Pebble, Agent and Nike's GPS watch are all also using the same LCD. We will do a better job when filming the next video.
3) Size
Jason, our engineer in the video has a very small wrist. If it is worn on someone with a regular wrist size, it won't look as bulky. Another reason might be because the video is done up close to the Meteor.
4) Final Product?
NO, this is NOT the final product, we just wanted to show our backers a quick demo video of a working prototype. More videos will follow once its ready.
5) Voice, Gesture, Apps
We are working on finalizing the last few UIs and also the Kreyos App, once that's done we will post new pictures and video updates.
6) Quality & Lead Components
Even though the Meteor is assembled in China, Kreyos Meteor is built using the best components (80% imported lead components). We are very focused on building a great quality product and we are very confident that our backers will feel the same when they received the Kreyos Meteor.
We cherish all feedback and comments from all backers, but please do not include rude comments with it. Kreyos is a new startup with grand visions, your pledge gives us the opportunity in building the Meteor, rest assured it will not be taken for granted.
If you have further questions, please do not hesitate to email us at [email protected]. Once again we like to thank all backers for your support and patience.

Xperia Play HDMI TP engineering display model All in one(info)

Just bought a Xperia Play HDMI TP engineering build So i decided to make an all in one thread. This thread is for those buying one of these plays for information on how it works how to use it ETC. Also for all those curious about this build of play. There is a lot of misinformation around on these plays and zero videos as far as I have ever seen. Some people show it being connected to a Tv and played but they never explained anything in the video.
Model AT&T with edream 2.3.2
verizon-edream3.0-verizon-zues-110426-1812
baseband: 7x30a-aaabqmazm-1290_10-01
r800x
build.prop is especially interesting and custom maybe thats something for another video lol.
One bug I had an especially good time with was sdcard would not mount basically I would press sdcard mount and it would immediately unmount when mounted. This went on for about two days until it finally mounted and stayed mounted one day.
As I say in the video this play is a little more buggy than the released play but it is as smooth as butter and works great other than that. There is zero lag in the UI or when playing games. When you first turn it on or turn it on after the battery has been removed, diesel dumper will say (aww snap kernel has crashed trying to fix). Which makes your pants turn brown for a second because you probably payed over 200$ for your awesome HDMI play. The service menu is also a bit different and quite interesting.
This video showcases the motherboard, info on getting it going etc. Here is the Video:
http://youtu.be/-7toBShIuas
Basically all info you could want to know is explained in it about this particular play. I wish one of these videos had come out when the play first launched so we could have avoided all the HDMI trolls. Also some pictures of the motherboard will be shown below as I have never seen any anywhere and I have looked quite extensively. Anyways enjoy the video and pictures hopefully they are informative.
I had one of these briefly, sold it for a profit due to hard times. Good to see them ending up in the hands of those who appreciate the history and significance of these special units.

Ya they are so cool im having a blast with mine loved my old play. only reason I sold my original was because the flex went out when I was away and needed another phone until I could fix the flex. Otherwise id still have it lol. Its to bad sony crapped the bed on games. Great device but I think there was alot more in store if it became popular as a system.

Mine was about 200$ they very rarely pop up. Also so far I have not found a way to unlock the bootloader. I looked into frost but that seemed to do something slightly different

For those of you that don't know

This is the only review you really need to watch. Just a fan here trying to spread the word. Full disclosure I go to his reviews for almost everything but at the time if this posting I did not watch the video. IMHO the best unbiased review you will ever find.
Should have the "full review" in about 7 days.

I love it.
There must be something with Samsung charging cords and cats.
I have a cat that goes crazy around them and if left alone will chew the cords up like a dog!
His cat would have done the same. He really wanted that cord!
I always watch Flossy's videos. Best reviewer on YT, imo. Like you said, unbiased, honest opinions
Yea Flossy is legit
