Is it true - Grey color and super amoled don't go together? - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 General

I recently purchased galaxy note and had dead pixel issue with it. So I got it replaced, and now the second one I ve got has this strange light greyish blemish visible on grey backgrounds. Also when I see the screen with grey color on it the screen doesn`t look uniform where as in all rest of the colors it looks uniform. Please have a look at the attached pictures and let me know if its normal ?
Also please set your brightness to 15% or below to check your devices.
Heres the video for better view:
Video Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IzFA2f05Rr8&feature=youtu.be

Honestly, I don't see any blemishes at all. However, I do see a lot of air bubbles trapped under a screen protector. Are you using one?

Yes I am using a screen protector with lots of bubbles. But do check out the video, in images its not much visible !

No issues on my Note
No issues with the screen, no grey spots no bubbles, no screen protector.
My screen is great.

Also please set your brightness to 15% or below to check.

My god that CPU is loud!
Btw, i can't see anything.

Same thing happened to me. The 1st note I got had dead pixels and dust moving behind the screen. The second one had those dark lines on grey and white color... the first one had those too but not as much as the second one. I sent them both back for a refund. Don't know if I should try my luck on a third one..
Here are some photos:

Mine looks somewhat like the second one but with very less of artifacts !

Another display issue?

My display had purple tint and I changed the phone today and got a new one. Its better now and significany less pink color.
Also I now discovered something that the pink tint is only visible when u look at the screen 90 degrees. If u tilt the phone a little (5-10 degrees) to left-right or up-down and view like that the color turns normal (like my year old sgs).
It made me realise that this is a screen coating issue (maybe coating causes polarisation). So do u think this will go away with the time of use?
When I turn off the screen and check it under light by tilting I can see a little purple glare.
What do u think?
Do you have this on your phones?
My sgs, when the screen is off if you look the screen under light has a bluish color/glare.
However sgs2 when I look under light, screen turned off has a purple glare.

he didn't need to taken it off
mine was without screen protector and there was purple glare on screen
now I'm really happy because it's not just me who has this purple glare on screen
this does not matter I like this phone
I find the problem when it is directly under bright light only...even when bright sunlight, it doesn't give me the glare...so it is not really a problem, I don't have a bright light in my room lol
Purple glare is not a problem but it causes phone to display purplish whites and greys when the screen brightness at low. At night, If I look 90 degrees to phone whites are creamy greys have a pink hue however when I view the screen from a little different angle (if i tilt like 5 degrees) whites are cool and greys are perfect.
Well maybe my sgs has a blue tint and cool colors that's why I feel a huge difference. Cuz when I compared my iPod touch 2nd Gen. IPod's color is more pinkish tthan my sgs2.
I don't have screen protector yet but I was hoping putting one would fix that purplish tint issue. So it doesn't.

OK. They are awesome but do you have anything to say about the issue that I am having? If u share with us will be appreciated. I wanna know if there are perfect screens wwithout this issue or all phones have?
I meant that I do not see any tint on my screen.
I have a Bell version, made in China.
The only thing that is bothering me is grease fingerprints marks.
Otherwise this is the best screen on market right now.

I have bell too. Where did you get your phone? I would like to go to the store that u bought to compare mine. Phones in the store that i got mine all have the same issue. This is my 3rd phone from the same store and they are already sick of me going there to change everyday. Maybe it's a batch problem. Are u in Toronto? If u are could u tell me the store name?
I've bought it in the TBooth in Eaton center
I checked all the phones in eaton center and they all have different screens. Mostly they have yellowish tint. One phone in future shop was worst than mine(purple)
One of the 6 display phones in bell had a perfect screen. Which made me hesitate about changing my phone. What are the odds to get a perfect screen?
The phones which have yellow tint their colors look pale to me. Only problem is mine, certain grays look purplish. Such as the status bar buttons. In a dark room with 0 brightness they have a purple tint.
when I tilt the phone that purplish color goes away.
What color the pull down status bar buttons should look like? What is your color?
Dude there are always will be some imperfection in any device.
Stop nitpicking, enjoy your phone.

Strange pixel problem...

Hello all. I have a weird problem about some pixels on A501 screen: when the screen is on and the background is black, some of them will show "bright"... but not white, i'd say some sort of pale gold or very light brown, but again not white. With other backgrounds (red, blue, green, white) those pixels acts as normal, not being distinguishable from the others.
Is there something I could do? The issue is a lot more noticeable with 100% screen brightness.
Update: I sent the tab to service repair, and they sent me a new one. Guess what? Same problem again, right where it was on the old tablet!!
Definetely they are not stuck or dead pixel (I can say that because of the color of the pixel)
I was thinking, since I use a Tucano Youngster Case (http://www.tucano.com/shop/youngster-for-10-tablet-pc-1.html) which has a magnetic clip on the back, could this be the issue?? I'm going to try to take a photo at this pixel and attach it here.

Unfortunately pics won't show my pixels, they're just too small. However I tried passing another magnet (more powerful than the one on the case) both on the screen, with a direct contact, and on the back, where the case's magnet is located, but no other pixels got damaged. So I don't think the magnet is responsible... Does the iPad folder case has a magnet in direct contact with the screen too? If that's the case I believe that magnets don't affect screens at all (imagine iPad's owners complaints?).
What do you think?

Well, when I set my background as black, on this one and two other Android tablet I had, it sometimes show a short brown/gold line on the top left of the screen. Most of the time its not there thoough. So it just seems to be a software thing. Although I do not have any problem where pixels appears randomly throughout.

Can you get a pic, so I can try to say if we're talking about the same issue? However, my pixels are always there, even in the "Acer" and "Android" boot screen... so I doubt it's a software issue.
Just a heads up... Yesterday I got my 3rd Iconia, and guess what, same problem again. I think I will just live with it... but I'm extremely annoyed.
Does anyone knows what kind of problem can this be, with gold-coloured pixel only with black background?
You should load up the Screen Test app that sets all pixels to red, blue, green, black, white, etc. in sequence as well as displaying several resolution and gradient screens and see how those pixels react.
I bought one A500 that had bad Wi-Fi but all pixels were perfect. Exchanged it last weekend for a second one with working Wi-Fi and all the pixels are also perfect. I don't see any gold pixels.
I'll disagree with your statement "Definetely they are not stuck" in your second post because if they are always gold in all screens they are indeed stuck. Not stuck on white or black but still stuck on that one color.
Does this happen on all home screens or just one? I hope you can post a picture of some sort because I don't know where to look to see if mine has the same issue but, running Screen Test, I don't see any incorrect pixels in Screen Test.

Among three tabs they were in different numbers and position... however they were between 3 and 6, and in the middle (vertically speaking); horizontally, instead, i found them twice on the right half on the screen (volume keys up) but this last iconia I have right now they are on the left. I also managed to get some photo, I'll post them later.
EDIT: Unfortunately I forgot my camera's MMC at home... will get back there in 10 hours and post the photos. However I ran Pixel Fixer during the night (an app which alternates red/blue/green/white screens very fast) but the pixels were still there this morning.
Inviato dal mio A501 usando Tapatalk
I ran through all the colors in Screen Test and found only ONE bad pixel across the entire screen and it's only when the pixel is supposed to be blue; it's black instead. That same pixel is correct on all the other colors though.
Otherwise, at full brightness and on any color, they are all on correctly and off when the screen is set to black. I don't see any other colors as you describe.
If your screen is doing something similar across three different tablets, maybe it's something you are doing but I'm not sure what it could be.

Check your new Note 10.1 for light bleed...

I bought a new Note 10.1 at Bestbuy yesterday. Got it home and was enjoying it until I watched a movie in letterbox in a dark room and noticed a "white glow" coming from the bottom left hand corner and shining across about 1/5th of the screen. Never would have noticed it in a normally lit room but in the dark was quite annoying.
Anyway, check yours and make sure it doesn't have this problem. I returned mine and got another one that did not have the glow.
Great :/
Any dead pixels? Just got mine also today, but have yet to open it... crossing my fingers, lol
Ugh, just opened mine and checked it... I also have light bleed in bottom left corner, but even worse at center top of screen as well. Also found a small curved line of dead pixels, shaped like a letter C that is very noticeable on a white background. This sucks, taking it back for an exchange.
I will say this, definitely a very fast snappy tablet, but the low screen resolution is unfortunately noticeable. :/
How can i check for lightbleeds btw? dead pixels i know how to, but lightbleeds, no idea.

Just watch a letterbox movie and look at the corners. There will be some slight glow present but it should be even on all corners and not look like someone opened a door from a lighted room to a dark one.

Exchanged for another, a bit of a pain, they had 3 employees trying to find the dead pixels...
The new one has almost no light bleed, very slight in the bottom left corner, not a big deal though. However I did find one dead grey pixel... weird though, it only shows up on certain shades of green and dark gray. Can't see it at all on a white background and I guess that's what's important, so I'll probably just keep it.

Yes the problem with employees looking for defects is that they are looking at it in a bright room. Also, if it is BestBuy there is an excellent chance they are also idiots.
They make some apps for LCD screens that try to fix dead pixels. You may want to see if they make one for Android.
I'm gonna do another exchange on Tuesday, the dead pixel is driving me nuts, lol.

Update: #4 also had 2 dead pixels, unreal! They're bringing out #5, last one in store, lol
For those wanting to check their screens you can use ES Taskmanager from one of the android stores. It has ascreen checker that fills the screen with solid colors to help find dead pixels and to check color purity. You can use the black color in a dark room to test for back lighting bleed.
I like this guy's:

Thanks for the tip. No dead pixels - checked twice. I'll check for bleed tonight.
Note to everyone. Any tablet will have some small light bleed when looking at a totally black screen; however, it should be consistent between each corner and edge and very slight. If there is a noticeable glow that extends 1 or more inches you may have a problem.
Lol, yeah i know BestBuy HATES people returning stuff and they must have been pissed you blew through 5 of their new tablets. Man that is some serious quality control issues from Samsung. These guys are getting sloppy.
Well the 2 tf700s i returned had lightbleed real bad. This one has it at the top. So bummed out. Will have to return this one now.

Black spots on screen

Yes I know there have been other posts about this but this one is a little different, or at least not one that I have seen before.
I've taken a long exposure shot of my Note II in the dark with my DSLR to show the spots on the screen when it is black. I've only noticed them with my eyes when actually trying to look for them by turning all the lights off and waiting til my eyes adjust to seeing nothing so they don't bother me at all but thought it was interesting anyway.
My galaxy s2 had that ... but my notes screen is perfect ... Blahhhhhhhhhh that sucks man it's just luck of the draw
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda premium
Like I say I never notice it when actually using the phone so really not bothered by it. I prefer what I have with the really dark blacks to the LCD on my last phone which was nowhere near black.
Folks, bought my SGN2 from New Delhi and I seem to have the Black Ink mark/line on the screen. Its only visible in the dark under the certain colors, eg. Grey when you use the stock Android SMS app.
Should I get the phone checked at the service centre or is this normal as I've read that this is a Samsung AOMLED manufacturing process. There were a lot of Note & Galaxy 2 phone with it. Even the Note 2 seems to be plagued.
My S2 had that problem. I haven't noticed anything like that for my Note 2 under any lighting conditions. I've been looking by forcing gray backgrounds and using stuff like screen filter to reduce dimness. Still looks good!
Mine Note 2 has a big spot on the upper right hand side of the screen

I assume its completely normal as there are a lot of people who faced this Black spot thingy, I bought my Note 2 three days ago and yesterday I noticed a big black spot on screen, but its only visible in a completely dark environment with pitch black picture on my phone.. It doesn't affect my experience with note 2 in any way, but still we want 100% perfect screen when we pay such a huge amount. Btw I bought it from local store at Chandigarh,India and the box says made in Vietnam.
PS:- As AMOLED screens are really thin, May be some glue accumulated on the back of the screen is the reason for these spots. And it is completely normal as If it were a defect it wouldn't be on almost every screen.

i also had black dots on screen and bubbles under the glass.service center replaced the display and now the black dots relocated to different locations but bubbles are gone.
i bought from kolkata. i would suggest not to take your phone to service center as they added 15-20 scratches to back cover , 4-5 dents to metal lining on side and 3-4 scratches to new display.Samsung service center in india doesn't know how to handle cellphones. They did this to multiple people.
This is an extreme case of OCD. All amoled screens have this issue. The fact that you need to try so hard to find it is why it is consisted acceptable for what you otherwise get with an amoled screen.

Yeah, Samsung India is not up to the mark in providing customer satisfaction and as you mentioned that how they handled your device, is the reason why am just dealing with this spot issue. its still better to have those spots then these scratches and dents.
Samsung should replace the handset itself if its not more then one month old, not just the display.
Had a long vertical 'Black Line" after the 'Samsung' Logo and it went from one end to the other end. It was noticeable during the startup screen of Grand Theft Auto III and on certain colors, eg: Grey. Several other black dots were around the screen as well.
Sold it off and bought another Note2. So far it's perfect

We don't know actually what it really is, but it is considered as normal in AMOLED manufacturing criteria.
Its annoying when you see it, but it doesn't affect screen or device in any way, So, am living with it. As its only visible in dark room with pitch black or some grey shade screen.

[Q] Screen burnin?

I think I have a problem with my phone, but not too sure if it's normal. I got my phone last Friday. Whenever the screen's on a grey or white background I get discoloured faint thick lines going down it. It is like a hologram.
Just wondering if anyone has the same and how are your display's like
Thanks
your screen is defective, or your gray page isn't actually solid gray. go into a drawing app and make a solid black or white or gray page and confirm it's actually the screen and not the apps you're using.

As far as i know Amoled suffers in burn in. My friend's S1 and my S2 has it. Noticeable especially in low brightness. When backgrounds are gradient of black to gray, the screen looks dirty on low brightness. I saw an S3 on Samsung shop had a very visible burn in of a clock widget even on max brightness.

Due to the different aging characteristics of the individual subpixels you will get a burn-in like screen after a while, especially where content is frequently shown. Like the clock in the notification bar. After a while/few months that spot will be seen when watching a solid colored background for example. Is the case on EVERY amoled screen there is.
Thanks for the replies.
I have tested it using a lcd test app and it is noticeable on a solid grey or white background. It's patches of faded pixels.
Was wondering if anyone with a S4 has the same problem and where would I stand with getting it replaced.
I can understand that amoleds suffer from screen burnin after sometime but not when it's brand new. My old s3 is perfect and I've had that for nearly a year.
Thanks
IMHO get it replaced.
My S4 also does this. Black and white are very good, but grey isn't very good. Check te picture below. I have also added the picture I tested it with.
Should I return it?
