Does using a darker (not necessarily black) wallpaper save battery? - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 General

Does using a darker (not necessarily black) wallpaper for my galaxy note save battery?
I know a black one is suppose to since the display would be off in the black areas, but what about dark blue, or dark brown or a generally darkish looking wallpaper?
How do those colors/color combination compared to using a background that has brighter colors like normal red, green, etc...?

Yes it Does
I have 2 identical wallpapers on my phone One is the original photo shot I took of the sun setting Lots of White, Yellow and orange
I colorized this photo so it is dark blue and tested the blue one Dark blue mostly show less battery drain (predictable)
.....So, Yes

Looking for a minimalist theme for Universal (VGA)

I'm fed up with the flashy effects and background picture/pattern nonsense of the WM5 default blue theme. I'm looking for something minimalist, that doesn't hog as much resources. Any ideas where to look for something like that?
Most downloadable themes I've seen have colorful backgrounds and shaded menubars etc. I don't need that crap. All I need is a black background, thin, single-coloured menubars and windowframes, no animations, you get the idea.
i have a Palm Vx i can sell you cheap
No, no, you don't understand. I like the technical features of the Universal. I love having the great screen for watching movies or browsing the web with Opera, or the Wi-Fi or the 3G for on-the move connectivity. It's all good. But it makes my heart cry to see all this potential crippled by the resource hogging OS that's running on it.
i understood what you meant, this was a joke.
i love this device as well, for precisely the reasons you mention, but to tell the truth i don't believe a "light-weight" skin would improve performance all that much, if at all.
it certainly is sluggish, and i wish it ran faster, but even so it's better than carrying a phone, an ipod and a camera around in my bag...
I think that acctually we should have white background to save more power. Black colour on TFT screens is created by put max power to pixels. White colour dotn consume more power that is needed to light a fluorescent tube in the display which is turn on anyway. just my 0.02$

Are you sure about that? Isn't a white pixel getting max. power?
I am sure. In LCD screens, when turn on (not in some king of power saving mode) fluorescent lamp is always glowing so to get shades and dark colour You ll actually have to "cover" light with LCD pixel. For LCD crystals to block the light they must be applied with maximum power. So if You have whole white screen theres no crystall blocking light and screen consumes energy only to light fluorescent lamp. If You have dark picture lcd display have to draw more energy not only to light fluorescent lamp but also to max out energy to all pixels to block the light.
Here is the classic black today skin that I use. Its only 2kb and is extremely minimalist. Hope this helps!
@nabuhonodozor
The exact inverse of what you said is correct.
Basically, in order to achieve the WHITE colour the Red, Green and Blue elements need to be lit consequently needing MORE power than would be required to achieve the Black colour which wouldn't require any colour elements to be lit.
Hope this helps.
Q.

Display yellowish its normal ?

light yellow spots below the screen, yellowish white its normal?
almost imperceptible.
only with white background.
want to know too.
Do you mean that your whites have a yellow tint to them?
Mine doesn't, white just looks white to me, have you checked your brightness settings, I'm sure that the lower the brightness the 'creamier' the whites might look.
The bottom of the screen is indeed a bit yellowish, just the lower 0.5cm. I have it on my white X10 and my two friends have it on their black Xperias too. It's only noticeable when the screen is completely white.
The bottom of my screen isn't yellow, but I can see a little bit of backlight leakage. Fortunately only when the screen is white, and most of the time a menu or other buttons cover it.
Mine isn't yellow either... white as a snowy day
white here to even when the screen is completly white. in other words its not suppost to be yellow

Nexus 6P display black botch under certain conditions

I started to notice uneven color or black botches under certain condition
the display look excellent during normal usage
- extreme whites & black are even and look fine, however the problem start to popup at dark grey just above the blacks i noticed a black botch in the lower display part
i detected the problem by doing the following
1- download (Full Screen Color Light)
2- Go to a dark room
3- set the screen color to dark grey, just above the black level
4- set the brightness to middle
5- noticed uneven gray color or black botches (similar to light bleed in Lcd)
Is this normal for super amoled display or should I RMA my device
note: issue isn't noticeable under normal light conditions
please help is everybody having this or should I RMA?
RMA the phone, that isn't normal.

Not normal, I have seen the issue though from the Galaxy S2, Note 2 and Note 3. Im glad to report that on my Nexus 6P the black is uniform and deep.

Black is deep and uniform in mine too, however the problem appears in dark grey only, as if not all the AMOLED pixels lit all together, or the voltage isn't uniform
making this pattern
appreciate if anyone can provide a picture of his dark grey screen in a dark room

Wallpaper color not true

Fire hd8 not copying iPhone pc blue color correctly it looks faded grey. Not bright blue.
I noticed the same problem. It's not nearly as vibrant as the Fire 7 screen either. I had to edit the photo I was using to add brightness and a bit more blue, blur/clarify the sky etc. and it now looks better, but still not as good. Also noticed that screen brightness slider influences the saturation and color too.

Do dark black or dark grey colors help with screen burn-in ?

I've seen conflicting opinions around that the new Night Mode in One UI won't be of much help when it comes to screen burn in, yet at the same time as far as I know, OLEDs turn off pixels when dark black is being used on some spot, saving both battery and pixel life at the same time.
Now what's the deal with dark grey ? Does the above apply for that color too ? That's the color that we'll see a lot of in One UI's Night Mode since it makes everything easier to read as opposed to dark blacks which are a bad option to use as a background for reading purposes.
