[Q] CHEAPEST eventual price guess? - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 General

Im assuming good old competition should bring it down to $650 american?
obviously without any carrier there is still allot of interest, ebay / amazon / newEgg, so what metrics can we use to project X savings X weeks out?

well people are posting that they bought the note for $710 on handtec.
The price might be dropping faster than even the samsung galaxy s2 did.
If you can wait 2 - 3 months, it might be less than $600 even lol. But by then, we might see some quad core phones

The dual digitizer is primarily what makes the Note more expensive then comparable devices. It's not cheap hardware to add.

i doubt your going to see an unlocked Note at $600 for quite a while. The international Galaxy S2 has been out for months and it's selling for $540-$550 from sellers on Amazon. And hardware wise the note is a lot more expensive than the S2.

from What I have seen on eBay...the price of the Note has dropped from $900~$1000 (on 9th Nov) to now the cheapest of $689. So that's almost $300 in 3 weeks!!!!! The price are dropping down like crazy since the release of Notes in HK.
oh...and, those prices are in AUS Dollars and on AUS eBay.......

Further update: date now uncertain, may be early November, may slip back towards initial mid-November date.
FFS! 495 Gbp to euro + taxes = +/- 700€ in my country... thats almost 2x the minimum wage / salary.
Too damn expensive.
I have to agree. And we all know that there'll be an even better phone
released, less than a year later, and we'll all want that one too...
£478.99 exc VAT on 31st October at Handtech
If this phone follows the trend, there should be a big price drop in 3 - 4 months. I can wait.
This phone will be awesome. I have tablets, but I still do most of my news reading on my current 4" screen LG G2X phone. I don't know why Samsung had to market this for women. Anyways, the 1.4ghz dual core and battery capacity is probably one of the best in the whole phone industry right now.
Com'on US release...
I don't really understand why you looking for prize drops. In 4 month there is something else you want and you have to wait again Do you ever buy phones?
lol, that's why I still have an HD2 right now. In 4 months, there might be an even bigger phone than the note.

release now looking like mid November (hopefully)
Clove Uk has revised their release date to "to be confirmed" from stock expected about November 1. Clove "hopes" to ship mid November. They are waiting for Samsung to tell them when they will have the product delivered to their warehouse. It is very possible phone will be delayed so it can ship with Ice Cream on board (rumor.)
The price of a smartphone (Galaxy SII) bought outright (unlocked, expensive than phone price on contract) which includes tax and gst here in Australia is roughly 425 GBP.
At 425 GBP, the SGNote is NOT CHEAP, but I would buy it in a heartbeat, but not a penny more. The baseline for smartphone outright price has been 400-450GBP in Australia for sometime, I think its unfair to exceed that.

I'm so torn between the Note and the Nexus.
At the moment I've preordered the Nexus but I dont know... I would realy like the bigger screen and the sd-card slot on the Note.
Might end up with both...
EDIT:
And now I've both preordered. Think I'll go for the Note. I just hope that it will get ICS fast.
EDIT2:
Leaning towards getting both now =) So my wife get a shiny new phone to (but the sgs2 she have now is not to bad either)
Gonna try them both out and then I'll take the one i like most and my wife get the reject

LOL i am in the same boat as you
The Nexus is nice but I'm majorly swayed by the screen size on the Note and the stylus input.
I think most people looking at both nexus and note, Had both pre-ordered but cancelled the nexus. Only NFC and ICS missing on the note. I dont need NFC for three to five years. (might be payment method world wide). but who knows? ICS, i still think we will see that on the note sometime next year...
Brilliant short clip showing how good the Note is for video editing and annotation. This is one awesome tablet phone.

[Q] Galaxy s2 vs galaxy note?

Hi dear,
I'm going to get either Galaxy S2 or Galaxy Note.
The price difference between them is quite big..
GS2 is 730 NZD and Galaxy Note is 1199 NZD(as its just released?)
Do you think galaxy note has that much worthy?
What do think guys?
Hi,
I think it depends on what you want. I have my Note since todays morning and I can say its more of a small tablet than a mobile phone.
I like it relay much because I use it mainly as a internet device as I did with my nexus one before.
Try to get hands on both devices and decide after that.

I got the note for 550 euro (950~ nzd) so not sure where you get the huge price tag from. I have both the G2 and the Note and no matter what you use it for the Note is better. The huge screen is so pleasant for anything and if you do not own a tablet it is definitely worth it the extra 150~ euro.

Oh really?
There is only one shop selling note.
Probably I shouldn't purchase anytime soon..
And I own iPad 2 so.. Probably better wait until ppl review..
Also I saw the ICS will come to Note and S2 between in April and June next year.
It's my biggest concern... Should I get galaxy nexus?
Which is faster
I want to compare them from the performance point of view which is faster?

what about the performance which one is better
Note has a faster processor so in benchmarks it's faster. Thing is both are so fast I doubt it matters. Maybe ICS has higher hardware requirements and then the notes processor upgrade might help.

In fact, they use exactly the same processor, the only difference is that on note the voltage is higher so you can get a little more mhz at the cost of battery. The SII with any mod can have the same speed.

Welcome fellow Kiwi!
I assume you are looking at MobiCity for that $1200 ($1180 right this second) pricetag? For comparison, the Galaxy SII was $1120 on day one from MobiCity, so it's not that bad.
Buuut, you can order it from Expansys for NZ$1,074 shipped and save a hundred bucks.
Basically, if you like big screens and styli, the Note blows away the SII. If you really don't mind the screen size/res, then it's just a jumbo-sized SII with a CPU speed bump to match.

Hello mate!
But I'm not Kiwi. I'm Korean who is just studying in NZ
anyway, thank you for welcoming! haha
The shop I reserve for Galaxy Note is H2phone, not mobicity.
I saw that if I ordered it from mobicity, I might have to pay for tax to NZ custom.. so I would be around 1300!! Too expensive
Actually, yeah Note is more attractive to me than GS II due to the screen resolution and slightly different design!

Even if you're not born a Kiwi, I can still claim you for our country's forum representation.
Never heard of H2Phone, actually. It was $1199 on Mobicity a day or two ago, so I assumed that was where you got the price. You make a good point about GST though. Including GST, the Expansys price is about $1235 shipped, and Clove would be about $1160. Pity I'm based in Christchurch - I'd love to be able to grab one for an even $1200 from H2Phone.
And yes, the gigantic screen on the Note is a major factor - since it would effectively replace a tablet too, and has pen input, I'm willing to shell out a bit more for it, $1200 is about my limit though. Unless the 32GB Galaxy Nexus ends up being considerably cheaper.

Hey mate!
You are so sweet! Thanks for good info.
I found one auction on ebay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/32078378918...AX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649#ht_500wt_1287
It is selling Galaxy Nexus 32gb for only 640 USD including shipping!!!
I think I'd better wait for it.. but one problem is that
I'm going back to my home country, Korea on the 8th of Nov so
If I can't get it before the 8th, I won't be able to get it this year...t.t
as I do not want my parents to know that I spent too much money for a phone haha
anyway.... I also think the S-pen is so unique and worthy with GNote but the price..... I guess it will be dramatically dropped once I will be back to NZ.
What do you think mate?
If you were me, what would you do?
Get galaxy note on Monday morning or order galaxy nexus to Korea?
one more option... getting iPhone 4S?
Please advice me fellow!

I'd get the Galaxy Note.
At the moment, no one really knows how much the 32GB (or even 16GB) Nexus will cost, but it will probably be about NZ$1100-1150 since the 16GB model is being pegged at $1040, and won't be out for at least 3 weeks.
The Note has a bigger screen, higher res, (probably) faster CPU+GPU, and pen input for about $50 more. Not to mention dedicated buttons on the Note so you have more usable screen space all of the time.
On the other hand, the Nexus has Ice Cream Sandwich now instead of 2-3 months from now, and faster updates, it has a faster camera and.. that's about it. Unless the price comes out significantly cheaper than the Note, the Note is the better buy to me.
As for the iPhone 4S, it has a 3.5" screen. You can't get anything done on such a tiny, girly screen.
Sjael: Cool!
I made my decision. Tomorrow morning I'm gonna get Note
Yeah in terms of the spec of the Note, 2-3months or even longer doesn't really matter for ICS. Anyway it'll be surely getting it and it will look gorgeous on Note!
I have purchased so many apps in AppStore that's why I was considering to get iPhone 4s but I have iPad 2 so it'll be okay.
Thank you for really helpful advice Sjael!
Hope we can see in NZ some time soon

Hey, I have one question..
In the other thread, the owners of GNote said it's laggy compared to Galaxy S2, is it right?
And as I said before, i play Internet with my phone quite often so the size of the Note doesn't really matter to me.
Please just let me know if it's too buggy and slower than galaxy s2.

Unfortunately it's not so easy to try it first in New Zealand, where phones typically come out 9-12 months later (if at all) than in the US/Europe, unless you import them.

Note keeping its value and gaining value

I have been looking for a note and noticed that the prices haven't came down and have risen in some stores. Thats pretty cool and shows its a great idea.
I'm selling my and Ebay for 600

oh yes! I seen the cheapest one from Amazon Fulfilled was $630 last month...I got mine for $680 - $10 (credit for future purchase) on 12/30/2011.
Now the cheapest from Amazon seller is $725.
It is pretty remarkable. I got it for $649 from Amazon two weeks ago...now it's approaching $800.
Prices will tank once AT&T launches so if you are on the fence today, I'd sell while it's hot.
No mine isn't for sale
I wouldn't sell if I bought unlocked international for cheaper than $650. ATT locked down and filled with bloat will suck. I wish I hadn't dropped and cracked mine. It also shows that it is a product consumers really want.

I don't think it is too wise to be getting the ATT version which is a big downgrade with its Qualcomm S3, especially the international version is also compatible with its network.

Only reason why prices are going up is because less people are importing the Note now that AT&T has announced its version. I guess from their perspective, some of these gray-market importers are worried that people might no longer purchase their stock now that it is available in the US.
Less supply = Price jump.

I don't buy it new egg can't keep them in stock. On amazon they are going up in price when everything else decreases.
i have been looking for a galaxy note for a week and it is out of stock every where i have looked.
I noticed a general drop in supply and increase in demand for all devices, probably seasonal.
People want Samsung smartphones and there were supply problems. At some point, of 250 suppliers only 20 had the product in stock.
Also the S II increased in price and was/is available here in Europe for 450 euros, just 50 euros less then the Note. Supply dropped so much that even used S II could get more then 400 euros. The Note is at 500/550 euros here. Was sold out on Amazon (not amazon marketplace). At that moment the price of a used Note and a new Note were the same on Amazon Germany (marketplace).
But the Note is not the S II. The Note is a niche product and nobody knows how big this niche will be in the future.
On Ebay the best worldwide price for a new Note is 519 euros + shipping.
About the Note i717 version, it is not the same phone. The i717 version has lte but no exynos. It is has value in the US, but outside the US, in many countries it is not LTE compatible.
So outside the US, with the i717 version you do not get exynos and also do not have the benefit of LTE. And the i717 has this typically american modification of the 4 touch keys.

In the US the market for Note international is a small, unofficial, importers market.
Officially, the Note International does not exist on the normal US market. Samsung USA does not offer it or list it as an existing product.
Why should a product that does not exist on the US market fall in price?
It may even increase in price when people find out the international version is much better because it has exynos. With the price of i717 falling from everyone selling and the Note international price rising from everyone buying.

More but not by much.
The thing with the Note is that once you use it you realise how fantastic it is. This feeds through to reviews and word of mouth. Was playing with a friends Galaxy S2 today and it felt so underwhelming and small . Samsung have redefined PDAs with this device. Can't imagine going to anything smaller or slower.
I bought the white note 5 days ago and I love every second using it. Its pure magic...
White is truly beautiful on this device.

But once you go black, you never go back

Outright price?

Is it going to be around $650 outright? I have a Nexus 4 which is on its way but might switch to the S4 if it's around $400
I doubt the SIV will be 400$
but hopefully less than 700 since that's my parents current budget lol
(or else I'll have to buy it when the price drops)
it's most likely going to be at the 650-700 range for outright,
maybe like 299 on contract.
I think everyone and their mother would buy one outright if it was $400. I'd be first in line. I would guess at least $700
Even the nexus 4 costs more than 400 outside the play store lol.

Buy it now sells 1 @ US $830-840 (16 - 64 GB) w/ free shipping.
Buy it now guy also selling 20 64 GB for $10,000 and many other deals.
Here's a new one buy it now from the UK, a 64 GB for US $752 or GBP 500: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Samsung-Gal...ntageCostumeJewellery_CA&hash=item4d0a0e7d18c Note the picture though and the description says "Main Stone: Rhinestone", LOL.
I was sure any early ones would be at least $1k, but guess I was wrong. Maybe more in the $600-$800 range ?
The auctions were UK and buy it now is US. I've heard GT-I9500 (these) were selling in China already.
Is the GS4 already a relative flop, compared to expectations ? More of an incremental upgrade from the S3 ? S3 will get many software features. Is no LTE an issue on International version ?
BTW, I've bought about 20 phones in the last few years, for app testing, and most were from EBay. China or Hong Kong are usually well priced sources for most phones these days. I usually buy from a vendor that has better ratings 99+% and charges $10 more though.
WTF
where do you guys live expecting the GS4 to be 600 dollars outright?
Here in Australia, the GS3 was close to 800 outright, so I assume the GS4 will be around that same price...
Ayee, then again Australia always gets the short end of the stick,,
It'll be like $300/$350 with a contract and $600/$650 without most likely.
My guess.

Normally a few months after the initial surge of interest in a product dies down, the price tends to drop a little. However for some reason the Note 10.1 2014 seems to be going up if anything here in the UK, although in the States it does appear to be dropping.
The US price is now generally around $499 (plus tax) for the wi-fi model, while the UK price has gone up from under £400 a few months ago (£365 at John Lewis I gather) to nearer £450 most places.
Does anyone know what's going on, have Samsung UK increased their suggested price or something?

When I saw the UK prices, it really baulked me.
I wanted a tablet that not only worked on Wi-Fi, but 3G, 4G/LTE, but I couldn't get one, especially a 32Gb model, which I consider to be the basement model (I wouldn't even consider a 16Gb).
I nearly paid the extra for an Ipad, however I decided to do more research and in the end I imported one from HK and even when I paid the VAT on it, it came in significantly cheaper than some of the prices of the 16Gb, Wi-Fi model.
It's worth doing a little extra research and importing it yourself and get a better specified machine, at a lower price.
I could pick one up in the States next time I'm over there, but I'm a little wary of not having a proper international warranty as that caught me out once (thanks Samsung, so much for global corporations!).
16GB actually doesn't worry me as long as it has an SD card slot, much cheaper to put 64GB onto it that way than pay for a bigger base model. Well, upcoming stock KitKat stupidities notwithstanding anyway, but that won't be hard to fix.

Why buy a 16Gb one? You can get the 32Gb version quite easily over there, but the currency conversion made it more expensive to buy it from the US, also I used PayPal to pay for it, so I had a bit of protection too.
My SM-P605 has a 64Gb card in and I'm already running low on memory, so I only hope that the new SanDisk 128Gb card comes out soon at a reasonable price.
I think a few places had them on offer just before and after christmas. Got mine from John Lewis for £399 in mid jan, took ages to find somewhere with one in stock at that price. There were quite a few places charging (or trying to) over £500! I think about £450 was the average book price but so many places were out of stock, or were trying to sell the old one still at £399........
They want to sell the new Tab 10.1 at such a high price, that they had to raise that of the note, to keep people from going straight for a note instead.
Let's be honest. Samsung charging iPad+ prices for the Pro/Note series takes balls of steel. Android tablets are bought typically by bargain seekers unwilling to pay iPad prices and are typically 7-8" and under $250. One thing iPads have always provided was a certain cache and snob appeal; everyone knows what everyone else paid. With the Pro/Note's Samsung seems to be raising the snob appeal. With the 16GB iPad Air at 399 GBP whether Samsung prices at 375 GBP or 425 GBP it's still close enough that if people really considered a high-end Android tablet as an iPad alternative they'd still buy it. I don't think someone predisposed to an iPad would say "I'll buy the Samsung Tab|Pro because I'll save 50 GBP." How many people think a high-end Android tablet is an iPad alternative is a whole different discussion and will be proven by the success (or failure) of Samsung's strategy in offering the Pro/Note series in the first place.
The G-Tab 4 certainly is a step down in design and specs so perhaps Samsung's strategy is to make the 4's their volume seller (EG: BMW 3-series) and the Pro/Note's their margin leader (EG: BMW 7-series).
Apparently the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 will pack a 10.6″ (odd, right?) display of 1280×800 pixels resolution and will run on Snapdragon 400 chipset with a quad-core 1.2GHz Cortex-A7 processor, Adreno 305 GPU and 1.5GB of RAM. Other revealed specs are the 3MP rear and the 1.2MP front camera, 16GB internal storage (12GB actually available) and the latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat OS. Digging into the GFX Benchmark database you can also find the Galaxy Tab 4 8.0. It has absolutely the same specs but less screen estate.
I got my 32gb LTE P605 from eBay for 465. Came from HK In 3 says. No customs charges. Flashed a OEM UK firmware and all is great.

And gave up your 2 year UK warranty in the process. Or you can ship it round trip to HK at your expense to have warranty repairs done there. Does Samsung UK even service grey market devices for a fee? Samsung U.S. won't. I had to ship my UK-purchased i9100 back to the UK for a cracked bezel. Caveat Emptor.
The guy I bought it from is a dealer. He will sort any warranty issues and is in the UK. I spoke to him before I bought it.

Well as long as you know a guy, you won't need Samsung's 2-year support then.

You're right I won't. It's 0x1 anyway so I'll claim off household as accidental damage if anything happens.

Got mine from HK too. Not rooted yet but soon will and once it's 0x1 the difficulty of a warranty claim becomes irrelavent.
It cost me £439 inc. import duty.
Got a bill from FedEx . Contacted the seller and he's refunded me already! What a quality seller!
