Updraded to note from s2 review - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 General

After playing for considerable time I came to the conclusion that the note is not huge upgrade from s2 besides having a big screen. The s pen is a big put off for me and note seems much more laggier to me.

I receive literally 0% lag and I can play n64 games that I couldn't on my S2. Battery life is better, better GPU, and ICS is gonna make this thing run smooth as butter.
If you are receiving lag, you probably haven't tweaked your system yet.

But this phone is 100% about the huge, high res screen! That puts it in a class completely above the GSII. I had both and the Note's not an upgrade, it's a completely different and IMHO much more desireable device!

S2 had 0%lag but note has some lag although bearable

I receive literally no lag bro. Maybe you have a defective one? My Note on stock runs faster/smoother than my custom Rom'd S2

Talking specifically about hardware, the main difference from the SGS2 is the screen. So what more did you expect? I'm really curious..
P.S: For me in the mobile tech world, 1" is a huge upgrade. Like going from 3.5" to 4.3" which is 0.8" upgrade. Then imagine going from 4.3" to 5.3"! Now that's an upgrade! Also the "lag" is a software-based fix. So no worries.

Going from a 4.3" 800x480 resolution screen to a 5.3" 1200x800 screen is a HUGE upgrade.

I expected the device to be much more zappier than the S2.

I understand you completely. And I do agree with you on the lag because other users report it as well. But is it really fair to compare a 7 months old phone gone throught many updates/optimizations with the Note?
As I said before the SGS2 was not as fast as it is now when launched. Anw it's the Note "fault" for the lag. Nothing a good update/optimization of the Note cannot fix.
So enjoy your great device and optimize it to your needs.

I really think the op bought the device for the wrong reason.

Phone worth replacing?

Hey guys,
Love the Atrix but with the release of Galaxy Nexus, Galaxy S2 etc... is there a phone that would be worth getting to replace the Atrix? I'm talking in regards to features, speed, quality etc.
As much as the Atrix is futureproof, is there anything out now that would be worth spending the $$ on?
Not really. If you really are keen on replacing your phone, you should wait until the quad-core devices begin to emerge.
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
seen the sammy's and they seem just a bit too big. I like to be able to hold and operate the phone with one hand and is difficult to move the thumb all the way to the left side of the screen(nevermind the top left) Especially the Galaxy Nexus. And i have big hands.
Just sayin.
I have the atrix and galaxy s2 skyrocket. Outside of screen size i still like the atrix better. Gonna keep the atrix as a back up. But i agree unless ur just wanting something diff. Speed wise they are bout the same.. too many phones out atm with plenty more on the way but nothing screams gotta have it to me.

I did a test drive if the SGSII and was disappointed by the form factor (too big and thin) and the battery life (especially compared to the Atrix).
Galaxy Nexus was an instant buzzkill when they removed the ext MicroSD for the second Nexus phone in a row.
Right now I don't see a worthy successor for the Atrix...

Anyone happy with their GS3

I got my gs3 and so far everything good not big upgrade compare to what I had, just the network but then again that's one of the major consideration on smartphones, phone is fast, camera great, 64 gb plus 16gb of storage and loving everything even the screen and the color (pebble blue) I see a lot people complaining like always when a phone is release(first is where the f*** is the phone and after they get it, does your phone do this?), anyways anyone else out there happy as well?

Can't you just search for the beats audio software mod that's been zipped up and flash it?
Criticism I heard/read about beats audio is that it's mostly software enhanced "gimmicks", E.Q stuff etc, and can be flashed to most phones...

I've heard the "Beats" audio, it's mostly enhanced bass and tweaked treble. Was not extremely impressed.
As for my new GSIII, I like it. Came from a flashed GSI. The improvement is alot more than coming from an older laptop to a state of the art one...
Yeah, I rooted it a few hours after getting it.
I came from the Aria, so the difference is pretty significant. I will say that I think the screen is ever so slightly too large. I think 4.3-4.5 inch displays are the perfect size.

But the gs3 beats it by a mile.
Gps is faster. Battery life is way better. Data speed (lte) ****s on hspa and I love the screen... Plus the camera is very nice.
So overall the difference for me is pretty big.

Happy, mostly... Wish I wouldn't have had the evo to play with first, grr... That camera knocks this one's dingle in the dirt, the display is much nicer, and the devs are killing that thing, lol, I'm sitting here with my rooted phone and thumb up my arse wishing I knew how to dev cause we have not one Damn Rom... On the other hand I do like playing with Samsung as it's a tad different than HTC. It feels maybe a little better than evo in my hands, in a strange way, the phone feels a little cheaper so I'm not as worried to use it like it's intended. This thing gets hot and has performance issues and hopefully all my "issues" are all software related... It does have removable battery which is huge for me as I like to keep a few extra batteries charged and ready to go, HATE to be tethered to a wall. The sound on this thing is really loud and clean, really appreciate that... The digitizer is a bit spastic at times but that might just need tweaked as well... It does have 2GB's of ram:-~ lol, I don't know any Sammy devs either, did they all go to evo??? Lol, Need to flash something, going through withdrawals:-o I also don't have any of the display having the black spots or weird colors so maybe I got lucky for once... Ramble, ramble...

I came from a GT-I9300 international white S3 to my GT-N7100 international titanium Note2.
The S3 was FAST, most of the time. There are still android stutters here and there, like with animations ect. Even after updating to the newest Jelly bean 4.1, it made the phone smoother especially scrolling in the browser but the micro stutters are still present.
The Note 2 is almost stutter free, (much better than the S3). It rivals the iOS in the 4S and 5 for smoothness in my opinion.
The battery life on the S3 was great, the Note 2 takes it to the next level.
I used to have the International Note 1 before my S3 and I never used the S-Pen because frankly it sucked and was a pain to use. It was inaccurate, not sensitive enough for writing or drawing well imho and was too small to feel comfortable in the hand. You literally had to press it up against the screen with a fair amount of pressure for it to register.
The S-Pen on the Note 2 is a million times better, no joke. I use it ALL THE TIME now. Browsing the web, scrolling through my song list, browsing my photos. It is such a joy to use that I always take it out and use it. It's that good! Writing with it feels natural and realistic.
I could go on and rave about it endlessly but I need to go back to work...
Is it worth it over the S3? Unquestionably. This thing is absolutely the best phone in the world and in my line of work, I have the pleasure of owning and using almost every high end android phone that comes out.
Im previously a user of Note 1..was thinking to get S3, but change my mind.. not because of the awesomeness of S3 feature SW and HW, but because the screen is small to me..what people are saying that u will never go back to small screen after get Note 1 was true..lol..so now Note 2 which im consider oversized of S3, had make my dream come true! U will never regret it, not until Note 3 come out of cause..lol

Switching from Note I to Note II

I'm seriously planning to buy a Note II and I currently own a Note I.
However, currently I see there are almost all new features that are available in Note II are now available for Note I (based on N7000XXLS7 rom update), will buying this now will really be a worthy upgrade?
Considering only on features and not on ROM Capacity , Processor type and clock speed?
Any comments would greatly appreciated.

I'm thinking about it as well. Had my Note on EBay today and took it down as I have JB now and the prices will be dropping soon. Costco has the S3 for 129.00 . Black Friday deals could be worth waiting for. I don't see the advantage of the International version anymore except for the FM. Tough decesion. But the longer I wait the better idea I will have on which TW Rom will take the lead as well

I am 100% happy with my Note II and I think anyone who buys one is unlikely to be disappointed, however I didn't get that "blown away" feeling that I got when I first switched from SGSII to the original Note.
I Broke the screen on my Note I & have not got around to fixing it, so mine needed replacing anyway, before I broke the Note I, I absolutely loved it and feel it was probably the best smartphone I'd ever used ( and I have used plenty) I feel the Note II is for all intents and purposes the same phone as the Note I with a few tweaks, and since I prefer to run CM10 I have to say I barely notice the differences between the two - this is not a slur against the Note II , more praise for the Note I.
Maybe if you are a fan of Touchwiz & all the S-pen stuff then its a different story, but my experience is like an iPhone upgrade - simply more of the same with a few tweaks.
In daily use there is little difference for me, personally. My gf has the 1 now, and i am jealous of her extra 80 pixels.

[Q] HTC One (M7) or HTC One X +

Hey everybody! I want to know whether buying the developer unlocked M7 from HTC is worth the $649 asking price or is the HTC One X Plus the better option being generally $200 cheaper with its 1GB Ram and 64GB internal memory and quadcore chip? I must admit the non-removable battery has me leaning on a Sammy Note 2 but is there a way to restart these devices without removing the battery for those of us who customize our devices? In other words, from a frozen state or the need to reboot the device, is there an iron clad way to restart the phone in these conditions...and I don't mean give it a dunk or a bat or use to skip on a pond. For those of you who have in your possession a M7...is the hardware living up to the specs? Thanks!

You can reset it by holding the power button, like the Nexus 4, or any iPhone. You don't need to ever remove the battery. I never once removed my battery in my Note, Note II, or S3. People act like it is such a big deal, it really isn't.

I'd say go with the One. It is a bit more expensive, but you'll have the highest end device currently available (to prevent any flaming: this is my personal preference. The Galaxy S4 is also great, but I dislike the design of the SGS4 and really like htc Sense) and you will most certainly be good to go for another 2 years minimum. The X+ is also great, but the tegra chip and battery life disappointed me greatly on the One X. I can't say anything about the Note 2, but I've heard good things about it. What I dislike about it is the giant screen, but that's again personal preference.

Note 2 because
Better screen ( bright power efficient amoled vs slcd)
Better battery life + removable
Better storage options
S-pen
No blinkfeed
Better camera 8 vs 4 mp
The only real benefit with a htc one would be build quality which is nice, but the note 3 should feature better build quality.

No. No, you don't. It's an opinion and has precisely zero to do with any "logic" that's actually veracious. Try again.
Your rationality behind why it's better (notably the AMOLED) is laughable. Why don't you add hyper-contrasted colors to that list since it's a widely held belief? Or the fact that most people find Samsung's UI ugly as sin? Or that the argument between 8 MP/ 4 MP is a total understatement? Or that you'd have no real way of speaking to the battery life of either device since they haven't even been in the hands of consumers yet?
These questions are, of course, rhetorical.

No. No, you don't. It's an opinion and has precisely zero to do with any "logic" that's actually veracious. Try again.

Note 2 because
Better screen ( bright power efficient amoled vs slcd)
Better battery life + removable
Better storage options
S-pen
No blinkfeed
Better camera 8 vs 4 mp
The only real benefit with a htc one would be build quality which is nice, but the note 3 should feature better build quality.

Screen size is irrelevant. Its based on the user.
Better screen? WTF LOL 1080p 468ppi vs 720 at like 260ppi... OK
3100 5.5 inch vs 2300 4.7
32 GB base storage is good. Vs 16/sdcard. This is a user preference
Spen? Barely anyone uses it. I barely used it once.
No blink feed? You don't have to use it. Change the home screen. Its pretty useful for most people.
Better camera? huh lol I'll just stop

Pixel count is irrelavant nowadays im talking about the power efficient vibrant nature of amoled.
Spen is very popular in my circles and adds so much to the business experience. Note 2 is for bosses.
You say change the homescreen but why have it in the first place? Just another gimmick.
Yes better camera. Note 2 camera is one if the best all rounders there is. Htc one is only good for low light shots.

You clearly lack reading comprehension. They aren't facts. They're your misguided opinions. Plus, you haven't even touched either of the devices before so it's obvious that you have no idea what you're talking about.

I have had a play with a htc one device a couple of days ago in a phone shop. Salesman was trying to sell the one to me on a 2 year contract. 15 mins after droning on about '1080p' , 'zoe' and 'blinkfeed' i just pulled out my 5.5inches of amoled perfection and was on my way.

Just out of interest have Samsung solved the loose battery problem in the note 3, you know where the device will switch off if it gets a knock? I know that wedging it in with a slip of paper helps but why should you have to do that in a high end device?

Never had that issue with mine or others whom own the device. Sounds like an early batch issue.

Clearly, you went into the shop just to show off your note 2. There is no hope for you.
