How do I get the actual gingerbread application "cube"? - Epic 4G General

I have disabled twlauncher and am currently running the stock gingerbread launcher. The applications menu is still the same as it was on ec05 and not that "cube" application selection layout i am seeing on other gingerbread devices. How can i get that menu? its so amazing.
I hope you guys know what im talking about....

I don't think it is possible on the Epic without a hack or custom rom. On that note I highly recommend a 3rd party launcher such as Go Launcher, ADW or LauncherPro as they all have a 3D option for the app drawer. I personally use Go Launcher.

you could use this home app from the market.. https://market.android.com/details?...tb28uYW5kcm9pZC5sYXVuY2hlci5naW5nZXJicmVhZCJd

Correct me if I'm wrong but, I think maybe he's refering to the Cube homescreen not the App drawer.

That launcher is SPB 3D launcher and is a paid app in the market. Spinning 3d homescreens on a cube or as many sides as you have homescreens.

Actually I think he is referring to the 3d app drawer, which I think was the standard for the gingerbread launcher. the problem is that I think touchwiz breaks this and disables parts of the actual gingerbread launcher.

Stumbled on how to not Use Sense Ui on 2.1

Turns out that the release has no native launcher. I installed an app called Launcher Pro Beta and now when you hit the home the option to use either is there..

You could do that. Or...
If you don't use Launch pro beta, you can do this:
*On the phone
1. Menu
2. Settings
3. Applications
4. Manage Applications
5. Find HTC Sense
6. Clear Defaults and Force Stop
7. Click "OK" to confirm
8. Then hit the Home button; you'll get an option for Home (Vanilla launcher) or HTC Sense (Roise/Espresso) and which one you want to make your default.
Enjoy.
Ya I tried that, But Sense kept restarting. For some reason there is no native launcher to switch to on 2.1. Maybe i'm missing something Thanx
you are correct, there is no "vanilla" android launcher on the 2.1 for hero

By "Vanilla", I meant this -- Notice the grey launcher:

In 2.1 -- you'll get the "Nexus" Launcher; which looks like a cube. Both of these are considered: "Vanilla" -- that is, they are natively part of Android and not altered by a the phone's manufacturer. (e.g. HTC Sense)
apparently htc decided to be douchey and not include it, is there anyway this can be ripped off something else and loaded as an apk

Grab Aloysius's ROM and pull the launcher.apk and use it as the alternate for HTC Sense; a.k.a Roise.
[Off-and-on lurker, first post. Hi all, and thanks for all the great information!]
I ran into this as well, and ended up trying both Helix and LauncherPro. However, I ended up having to get rid of them and going back to SenseUI because they were absolutely sapping my battery life. Anyone else have this issue, or any idea what the problem might be? I made sure to force close Sense and anything else that I knew I wouldn't be running under the alternate launcher first, but the problem persisted.

Changing order of apps.

Is there an app or something where I can change the order of my applications on my Desire? At the moment they are sorted alphabetically but I wish to sort them in the order I want.
Is this possible?
Also, is it possible I can change the applications screen so there are pages where I can slide left to right instead of just one page where I slide up and down?
Thanks.
I would love a launcher with the "drawers" from iOS4, so you could have games in one, settings and tools in one, and media apps in another..

Btw, i don't care much for iOS, so don't flame me for posting a screen from it.

There's a home app called iHome. Pretty much an iPhone rip, but has some pretty good screen anims.
Or, get an iPhone 4?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
this not a launcher but "apps organizer" does exactly what that screenie shows
Thanks will take a look.
Apps Organizer doesn't offer what the OP asked, only what the second poster asked for (I use it).
I've also been looking for being able to rearrange the app order for months.

How to change launcher icons?

I hate the icons that motoblur uses for the stock apps on the phone (camera, dialer, browser, etc.). I have been searching all over for a solution but cant find anything. I'm using Launcher Pro Plus and want to know how I can change the icons that show up in the app drawer to the stock Froyo icons. Thanks!
you can probably download a theme icon pack for lp+
at least on adw that's what i can do..
Go Launcher let u change it with ease

root your phone, download ninjamorph, load up blur-res.apk, find ic_launcher_(app you want to replace).png from an AOSP rom and use it to replace the one in blur-res.apk in ninjamorph. finish project. done.

it's real simple. find some icons you like and place them on your sdcard. On your homescreen (if you are using Launcher Pro), long press a blank area, and choose "Shortcuts". then, at the top of that screen, choose "Applications". Once you find your application (say Maps), then click the old icon above the app name and you can browser your gallery app for a replacement icon. click the icon you want to use as a replacement then click ok. now you have a different icon for that app on your homescreen. This is the easiest way to do it without editing your framework-res files, etc. NOTE: this only changes the icon on the homescreen, it will still be the original icon in the app drawer. It takes a bit of time to do this, but well worth it IMO.
EDIT: I just re-read your OP, this won't change the icon in the app drawer, only the homescreen... [/facepalm]

[Q] 4G Toggle That Works With Go Launcher EX?

I started using Go Launcher Ex about two weeks ago and pretty much like it. Previously, I've only used Sense.
I'm having trouble finding a widget or even a shortcut to toggle the 4G radio on and off. With HTC Sense, there was a shortcut that gave you access to almost any setting. I was able to put a shortcut to 4G on one of my screens.
But those HTC shortcuts and widgets are not available when you replace Sense as your launcher.
I've tried downloading a couple of 4G "Widgets" from the market, but so far all of the one's I've tried require using Sense or else they don't show up.
I tried the Go widget for Power, which has switches for WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, screen brightness, etc., but they don't seem to have anything for 4G.
Can anyone recommend a widget or shortcut? I'm running a stock EVO Rom 2.3, but with Go Launcher Ex.
Thanks.
Have you tried 4G Toggle4 for Evo? Says it works with 3rd party launchers.
i like widgetsoid. you can even set it to act like pcw.

Yes. It is installed. It does NOT show up under widgets.

I'm going to try it. Any idea what is the difference between Widgetsoid and Widgetsoid2? I don't see any mention of any differences in the Market.
Maybe this is an issue with just my phone. Widgetsoid is installed and not showing up under widgets either.
Well if it doesn't work out, ADW EX has 4G toggle, and it should be dropping down to 10 cents sometime soon with the 10 cent app promotion.
I figured it out. Widget 101: Do not install widgets to the SD card.
Duh.

Fixed - How to get the thumbtack button to show on Action Memo? [PIC]

I couldn't for the life of me find that thumbtack icon / button which is suppose to be next to the X on the Top of the Action Memo. This will help me put them up on a screen as a widget. check the third image to the right. Any help would be appreciated!

Yeah, I'd love to just go to one of my screens and just start writing. But I can't find that thumbtack button. Here, i found a better picture. Do you see it on yours?
Nope, weird. Closest is long pressing the note within SNote and it gives me an option to send to home as a shortcut...but no pin.
I just saw a similar post in another thread... are you using the stock TW launcher? If you are using a replacemnet launcher like Nova, or Google now Launcher, you will lose the thumtack pin feature in action note. Action notess can only be put onto a TW homescreen.
Doesn't work on default launcher either just tried.

Yeah, that's what I thought it was before I posted this thread. Unfortunately, that darn button won't show up in stock launcher either. I'm thinking it's a different apk??
Maybe ? My Tmo firmware update already hit soon as I turned on don't know if it was there prior.
Ok I got it. From reading a similar thread, they're saying you need a reboot for the pin to show once you switch to touchwiz. I did not do the reboot so it was still missing even with touchwiz.
I'm also going to let nova launcher devs know this issue so they can fix it. For now I'm just going to use the action memo in the minimized form.
Did you get an answer from them?
