Why do you prefer android os over windows?

Windows phone 7 is closed source, too simple (actually frustrating), not awesome

When I had my palm
Treo pro all that os did was crash. I swear I would do more battery pulls in one hour than blackberry users would in one day. That was my first and last windows phone.

i wish windows would release some apps for android tho..

You know what would be great? If google did a os for the pc.

Good thing is,Windows 8 will be open-source, and rumor of the mill on G4 is that the Xbox 720 will be on Windows 9 and will be 'connected' with its desktop, and phone counterparts. My speculation is that while Windows Phone may be closed source for now, that's soon going to change.

Was this an actual question? You DO realize your posting on an android forum right? Maybe I should ask for some apple information here. As our pro devs have said, windows 7 is closed source. Android rules. Some peoples kids I tell ya.

He knows its an android forum. That's why he asked us WHY DO WE PREFER ANDROID OVER WINDOWS.
If you're gonna try to make a fool of someone, cover your bases first.
On-topic, I actually prefer windows mobile to android. Windows Mobile was so customizable and had a lot of options at your fingertips. I was TORN upgrading from my bbcurve cuz I couldn't decide if I wanted the TP2 or the Hero but I settled for the hero because of the camera.
Now its no contest. Windows Phone 7 is so ****ing stupid and limited compared to windows mobile.
Android is the only thing close to the functionality of windows mobile but its still not quite there yet

I read it as, why do we prefer android to windows because windows is better. I wasnt really looking to lay into him. Just being a smart ass. Apologies sent.

Good one. After my treo pro I was done with any windows phone. One more thing I realized being on xda and other forum that people have a need to troll. I'm also a member of the gamefaqs forum where trolling is not tolerated at all you troll on there you may as well delete your account because they will do it for you. That's why I don't bother feeding trolls unless they are looking to personally disrespect me. Android rules

^This. Looked great, advertised heavily, slow as hell and didn't even get a WinMo 6.5 update. I was pissed. Stock Android is almost always pleasant to use and the phones are normally well-built.

Sent from my hoe. Forgive the typoes; it's an Epic.

WP7 might be good for people who doesn't want to deal with troubleshooting their phone, i.e. non-tech savvy people. It actually has nice UI and I heard it gives refreshing experience to people who are exhausted with iOS and/or android. I like its zune style music app. I am actually frustrate with Android music player. Default one looks soooo outdated. I want something real nice like iOS's coverflow or WP7's zune for android out of the box. Don't want to pay extra money buying music apps. Also there are no good music apps that work flawlessly with the lock screen.
Again, WP7 has less apps and porting is slower. I think it doesn't have Skype yet but will have Tango soon. Also it doesn't have free tethering. All the good things about android such as rooting, installing unique apps like call recorder, roam control, PRL flashing, free GPS navigation, decluttering unnecessary carrier apps, etc. are not possible.
Personally, I would like to try Lumia 800 if I wasn't in contract with Sprint.

I went with Android mainly because it is not Windows, and I hate Windows.
I've been working with Windows for almost 20 years(wow, feeling old) and its just one thing after another when it comes to bugs.
I would have went with an IPhone if it had a slide-out keyboard. Android was the only alternative in my books, since Palm blew chunks with the Pre. I had a 755P Palm OS phone forever, before trying the Pre and then going to the Moment.

Using Google News, search the term "Sprint".
It's an HTC Windows Phone 7. 99% likely it's the HTC Pro 7.
It's about them unveiling their new windows 7 phone htc 7pro aka "arrive"

Technically it's not true integration.
WP7 just lets you get gamer points on your phone with your XBLive gamer tag.
But yes, both these posts are referencing Windows Phone 7. Specifically the soon-to-be-released HTC Pro 7 for Sprint.
Which makes this thread off-topic.
Sounds like Microsoft's late-to-game rehashing of "cloud" this and that blah blah and xbox integration that nobody cares for.
Microsoft's cloud storage is not just for WP7 anyway...

Aww so sad
I was thinking that my android phone could now be "integrated" with my Xbox
Btw I'm both a ps3 and a 360 person
Not that it matters at all
Another thing I think wp7 is going to be the next big thing
Because if I remember correctly apple came to Verizon first with the idea if the iPhone and Verizon refused and the iPhone was a huge success and Verizon also refused wp7 so maybe wp7 is going to be huge too.
Even if wp7 becomes "huge" I'm sticking with android unless Google abandons it

While I prefer ps3 over 360, I'm gonna have to disagree based on multiplayer. The 360 has a great social system. Once the ps3 gets on XBL level, there is definitely nothing holding them back. And hopefully a redesigned controller (not fully redesigned....just put some joysticks that atually have grip so that I can shoot as comfortably as 360!).
Multiplayer is more casual on 360, but that's because you have all these little kids not taking it srs.
Ps3 is more intimate online and its more hardcore because theaverage age is 12<, which is why I prefer it, but I can't enjoy it with my friends playing a different game than I

Maybe if your intent is to use it as a linux box. However as a game system, they are close enough that you should pick based on which one has the exclusives you like. That and the online system I suppose. Cheap vs good.
Only fanboys think one console owns the other.

Edit: The usual has happened here on the "great" XDA. Nothing to see here folks go ahead and close this one also. Thanks *salute*

Legally... porting w7 to the hd2 is just as wrong as porting it to the evo....
all those people that say i has a license, so what? its like saying i have a license to run windows vista... so i can install a hacked version of windows 7 legally.
If they are allowed to post those roms here, we can too. The only thing is finding devs to do it.

I really wish a port would come to fruition. However, no dev even seems remotely interested.
Also, windows phone 7 has been out for quite a while now on GSM carriers, but there has been no port to a GSM android device. I fear there might be more issues than just developer interest.

I just read that the HTC arrive doesn't even have wimax support. I'm sure it would have been alot easier if it did. I'm guessing it would be a full time job for someone to take along the port i.e getting wimax to work and etc. So right now I don't believe there's even a cdma wp7 phone with wimax yet. Bummer

Microsoft CONFIRMED it will be "acquiring" Skype.

Microsoft is buying SKYPE. Discuss amongst yourselves.
http://www.neowin.net/news/it039s-official-microsoft-to-buy-skype
I would think this makes it less likely we will ever see Skype video calling on our non-verizon Android phones.
Goodbye Skype. lol
Now just to sit back and watch it get cannibalized for Outlook, and turned into a 100% paid service for the stand alone product (if they keep a stand alone version).
Well, look at it this way: Skype on Android couldn't get any *worse* than it is now.
