HDMI out and audio out separate? - Acer Iconia A500

So I want to hook up my tablet to my older tv for some gaming or videos every once in a while, but this thing is old and only has DVI, no HDMI. I already have a converter so video comes through fine.
I was hoping I could still have audio come out of the tablet speakers somehow but it doesn't seem possible?
What about through the headphone jack? Can audio come out of there and hdmi at the same time? That would solve the issue. (Should have tried this, but didn't think of it at the time and now i'm at work)

Boy was that tough looking four posts below yours, I didn't even have to use the search function. How do you operate a tablet blind, or does someone do it for you?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1334067

that's a different question and I looked there first. my video is fine, he's talking about converters and receivers. all I asked was if audio still comes out of the headphone jack at the same time the hdmi is plugged in. didn't want the threadjack

Ugh (*insert sarcastic remark here*)
He needed to get audio out through the HDMI just like you should do. READ!

Since it seems that this is just too much for you to grasp, I'll spell it out for you, now pay attention closely OK?
HDMI out of your tab to a splitter. One side of splitter use your existing HDMI to DVI to the TV. Other side of the splitter goes into the box mentioned in the thread I linked to. Out of that box, two RCA to your TV. Got it?

Just tested on my unit. Audio is normally on HDMI, when you plug-in headphones, the audio stops on the HDMI and is heard on the headphones.
A splitter will work as described or get the cable to convert the headphone jack to RCA audio.

Thanks. I was looking for a way to get the sound out through my speakers when using HDMI on a computer monitor without audio capability!

if you connect a dvi inpout on your tv, you must set the tv on EXT dvi, and if you connect the rca audio, you must set the tv on an other incoming !
No ?

Audio/video out

Can you do video and audio out... at the same time? The 4-in-1 plug has component outputs; does this include the audio out? In other words, can I output a movie clip to TV or projector?

You should be able to by using the headphone jack that's located below the USB port right? I'm thinking you can get a component cable adapter for it or just use a long audio cable to connect it to your TV or whatever you want to connect it to. I wonder also if the proprietary VGA port has audio and video output.

My "quallified" guess would be: No. Video only.
Why need that audio out put from VGA port, it have it's own audio jact, very easy just plug it...
Exactly. It works just as it should work.

Video out?

Does it have it?
Some sites say the specs do, some don't mention it!
Can't get a definitive answer on that one!
Also, if it does : where can I get a cable?
Thanks guys!
I haven't tried myself, but the iPhone and iPod video do it through the headphones socket. you can get a cable that takes this and makes it a yellow RCA cable. you could try one of them?

Interesting question.
But where are settings for video output?
I'd be interested if anyone can prove this? Re-settings...if this is possible then there could be 2 options.. 1. you will only see the settings when it's in "video out" mode.. or it's auto detected and there are no additional settings (as per audio output... )!
i'm really hoping for this but i'm guessing SE would advertise it to their benefit, and afaik they didn't so my hopes are kept rather low...
I've had a guy telling me that he can use TV out on his X10, using a microUSB-3.5mm adapter and the TV out cable from an N900.
i haven't been able to find an adapter that has the extra connector for TV out to try it.
I've got a 3.5mm jack going to red/white audio connectors. If I put one into the video part of the tv wil it play video or is it down to how its wired in?

For video there should be red, white and yellow.

I think X2 uses the 3.5 mm port for video out, and they didn't advertise that.
Yeah, they did. There's a button for it on the keyboard too.
I'm wondering if it has the hardware, but the options aren't there yet, and they might be added along with the HD video recording update.
well it definitely doesn't work at the moment.. just tested it. I have a video and mono audio cable (Yellow and Black).. and also a video with stereo audio cable (Red, white and Yellow)
did you try via the jack or with a 3.5mm adapter?
directly via the jack.. cable was 3.5mm "headphone" style at one end.. and phono at the other.
I tried that with a cable from an N900, doesnt work.
Still trying to find a micro usb to 3.5mm with video.
It seems there are some out there for LG and HTC, it's just getting hold of one to test it!
Hmmm this is interesting..

Just in case... Did you try testing with the Red or White as the video? Some companies have their own way of wiring things so that you have to buy their cables. Most people don't think of just swapping the colours around to get it to work and just fork out for the new cable.
There is a tv-out cable for the droid incredible:

I wonder if this would also work on the X10 and when it will be available.
Mod edit: not (yet) accessories related, moved to general
I just tried my Sony Mini-DV Camcorder cable, and it does not work, the camcorder cable goes from 3.5mm to red/white/yellow

HDMI

Does the Galaxy S have HDMI output at all?
I've read in some places that it does, but haven't found a definitive answer.
It does not have HDMI.
You can however use DLNA to wirelessly transfer HD video from the SGS to your TV, which also must be DLNA compatible.
you can also use component cables and connect it to the 3.5 jack. That works also, theres a video on youtube of someone doing it.
I have a Samsung 58 inch Plasma with DLNA support and cant wait to try it out.
@Kleany: is not possible. trough 3,5 jack it can transfer only sound !!!
In this video they used DLNA technology to transfer video from galaxy to LCD screen.
Have you seen HDMI cable? there are many pins and cables is not possible use only 3-4 pins to transfer digital video signal.

[Q] HDMI + Sound output?

Hi Everyone,
I plugged my A7 through the HDMI port to my projector, it works with no issues whatsoever! But the sound jack doesn't work once the HDMI is plugged. Is there a way to force the sound to work even if HDMI is plugged in? Or even the speakers?
Thank you,
Marc
I have run into this issue with other devices, not the A7 yet though.
Once HDMI was connected the device only wanted to send audio over it and disabled all others.
My projector had RCA L/R out, but no internal speakers.
What I ended up having to do was get a RCA -> headphone jack adapter from Radio Shack and use regular PC speakers from that.
Probably not the solution you were looking for, but I hope it helps.
Possible solution
The option I'm looking at right now is an HDMI switch. It has 2 inputs for HDMI and outputs 4 HDMI and an RCA. I'm not really insterested in dishing out the 70$ for it though.

Mojo Mad Catz - No sound hdmi cable

I just bought Mojo Mad Catz and no sound, I have connected 3-wire and even a hdmi hdmi 2.0 and not heard on my TV PanasonicTx-40cx300e 4k Uhd 200Hz USB. Connect it to a monitor with hdmi that came in the box and it looked nor sounded but if it works hdmi 2.0 cable with both the video and audio. I tried to upgrade Mad Catz Mojo from settings but check the update tells me to try again later. Not if the problem is Mojo or my TV. Any solution?
Thanks

If and works perfectly, also tried it with speakers with an rca cable and works. But I do not get it to work on my Panasonic TV with hdmi or the rca cable. I have a multimedia player connected to the PanasonicTV and audio works well. The truth which is not the problem.
I don't know if it will help or not, but you might try a custom ROM. There are three available (thanks to @Unjustified Dev), check the development section.
U can get a cable from your head fone jack on your box to your headfone input on ya telly. I just plugged mine straight into my sound bar and works fine but there's no other way u need a cable, hope this helps

i had the same issue when I used my own HDMI cable. But if you use the HDMI that comes with mojo box it should work.
