[Q] Worth to buy HD2, yet? ~ $450 :D - HD2 General

Hello.
I'm a computer student, a poor computer student! who can change his phone every 2 years! I earn money with hard student working. It's time to change now, I've a (crappy) LG Arena KM900 for 2 years and I cant really ignore this piece of wasted money anymore. Short story...
Is it reasonable to buy a HD2 for about 450 USD?! Here I can find used HD2 for $330 too but who cares, I can't trust other people (and their great used phone!).
---------
Another option is Galaxy S, I9000 with exactly 455 USD, no used one found. Now what you think? I can also have a Moto Milestone (used) for $290. Here we don't access to int postal & payment services so just forget amazon, ebay and...
- I've enjoyed changing my Arena theme with some geeky tricks! so HD2 with all of this roms and os selections...
- I'm afraid of HD2 production to be stopped and I miss my dreams phone! else I really don't care of new phones with 8 cpu cores or 12mp cameras!
- My current phone dpesn't have bluetooth PAN ability which is used for using phone internet connection on PC. does HD2 have this?
- I'm a fan of wp7, can I count on HD2 with this os? what about battery life?!
- is is reaaly so BIG that I can't put it in my jeans pocket?
Thanks you

Hello,
First of all,
-Yes, the HD2 does have bluetooth PAN.
-WP7 has some bugs on the HD2 which briefly are:
+*Multitouch does not work properly.
+*Compass is not working with Mango (until now).
+*There seems to be a lot of people struggling with the battery life. (however I have not had that).
+*The speaker's sound is horrible.
-It's big when you are using it, and small when you are to put it into your pocket (it's not that big).
Also, you have to be aware of two things:
The HD2 has two major issues, one being the touchscreen, some devices lose their touchscreens after an amount of time.
The second thing is, the End button may wear off for frequent use or become too hard to press, and sometimes this may also cause the screen to become unresponsive.
(correct me if I'm wrong)
My opinion,
For a two years old device, $450 can get you something better. But if you can get it less, I'd definitely recommend getting one .
But the HD2 is still the best for me, and I don't think I'm changing it, not at least for another year .

You can get a used HTC HD2 for ~$150 and ship it to wherever you live

Thank you, very useful answer
So you say if I buy an unused device then take care of that then still I may have problems with screen & buttons?
Let's make it clear, I'm on my decide for HD2, it's about one whole year that I'm reading reviews and following software improvements... this topic is actually a try to forget all those fresh and stylish gadgets
But! if you think HD2 will disappoint me then which phone should I buy instead? to me SGS is also attractive, you know, because of it's roms & customizations + great hardware.
Should I forget HD2 because of it's old hardware and expensive price in my country? then I think it's better to wait and buy a NOW DAYS phone when I have enough money?! or you have a better offer...?

and you're still happy with this monster?
if you were me then what?

Hey myview.ir ,
i bought my own HD2 5 days ago for 230 $ on Ebay.
It was declared as "nearly new without any scratches".
Windows Mobile gave out a compleate speaking time of 5 Minutes!
Go out and search a nice looking HD2 on Ebay, buy it with Paypal and you'll be happy with it (of course, install Android 2.35 with Sense like this one:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1298188 ).
I'm a "poor" student too - so don't waste your money for buying things like new smartphones

I also bought mine for 230$ Its really great phone I moved from SE x10 just one week ago. I took me like 1 day to learn how to install, modify nand to be able to install android but I figured it out and when I saw rom with sense 3.5 for the first time ever I said it was the best move I could do Hd2 has much bigger community and roms works much better :] Already installed shadowgun and guest what? It works really great smooth and fast so the question is why wouldn't I love this phone?

thank you Cadilac & sab3r
I'm in love with this device, mainly because of of that it's not a phone like any others, yes my friend recently bought a shiny xperia arc s wich is really great looking and he is so happy with that but I'm not of that type! It's vivid, anyone who stayed with HD2 has a reason and it's freedom, oh ah :]
ok. Shopping from ebay is a normal thing for you, but here in my country if you want to have a $100 paypal payment then you have to pay $130! we don't have paypal or visa or master here, whoahh :\
prepareing for $450 deal
I'm crazy. huh!

This is an amazing phone, after 18 months I still don't want to change it despite being an early adopter in most things (which is always tough on my low salary!). I'd definitely recommend this phone, but as others say, look at the $230-250 range of prices. Good luck!
Sent from my DL Desire v4.32.44.12 using XDA App

Love my HD2. Best phone ever!!!!!!!! Recently broke my phone. Got a new one for $150. Cant bet that......lol

Also got to say - love this phone - play with it more than I use it!
Also dropped it a few times, cracked the small glass covering the camera lens but it seems to take better photos now.

450$ is far too much. I bought it new 340€ last year at a mall
less than 300$ can be reasonable.

Ok!
Thank you all, I'm still in love. Some people said to me about battery problems with HD2, compared to i9000 sgs. My current phone is horrible on this field and if HD2 has a weak battery then it's deal breaker for me! I know, it's a smartphone with massive screen and some energy eater parts inse but lets compare it to other HTC devices, like dhd or newer sensation...
and yeah, "berrutti" said that it's too much for a dated gadget. I don't know, maybe best thing I can do is going to the city shop and ask both HD2 & i9000 and play with them some minutes then trust my feel! I's hard to decide, fresh young device with well-known old hero.

XDA-Developers Market Forum
I bought a used T-Mobile HD2 right here on the XDA-Developers Market Forum for US$200, which included shipping. I suggest you try this as you can be fairly sure about who you are dealing with and their trustworthiness.

Because of my location any worlwide service will cost so much, if I want a used HD2 with $250 then it will finish $370 for me!
I've found some local used devices which doesn't have any additional cost, bust I don't know sellers! here I've listed them:
- HD2 with one year of usage, price: ~ $320
additional tools: 2 batteries & 8GB memory card
http://alldigitall.ir/specs.aspx?pid=2795
- HD2 with 2 years of usage, price: ~ $345
additional tools: TV cable & case
http://alldigitall.ir/specs.aspx?pid=2805
- Samsung galaxy S with 4 months of usage, price: ~ $370

It still might be worth your time to put an ad on the XDA-Developers Market Forum, as this is a worldwide forum, and just like you, not all members are in the US. There is a chance you could find someone in Ireland, or nearby in Europe, who has an HD2, and then your shipping charges would not be so high.

HD 2
I was very much like you and when i eventualy got my HD2 I wished I had done it sooner. It is the ultimate in customisation have broken the first one my fault i had to buy a replacement straight away that was a month ago . I didnt even consider any other phone. Just try to get a good price and see who has got one here it is international here look at the signatures
Mark

If you're in the US, try cowboom. I just bought a used one from there for $130US. the price increased to $140 a day later.
2 minor scratches on top. Buttons look worn out only if you look at it very closely. otherwise, it looks perfectly fine. I put WP7 on it and it's amazing. Also works a zune player (similar interface). runs as smooth if not smoother than my brand new htc sensation with android.

i am from topaz and artemis forum...i am actually planning to buy leo...
any body in india had a feel of it..
any suggestions.?
How about the Copilot GPS navigator? Does it have maps for India?
Also, did you get any screen protector for the phone?

got it for 38500 in Mumbai . 1 day after launch... its awesome .. i am a iphone user and iphone is very boring after a while ..
the best part about this phone is the facebook integration .to ur contacts .. no other phone has such an awesome facebook interface/integration ...
my recommendation to u is go buy it without any hesitation and u wont look at any phone for 2 -3 yrs ... its unbelievable , battery life , camera , speed ... too good to be true ...watched a 3 hr movie and the battery still had 2 bars left
i was reluctant to spend 38000+ on any phone ... but this is worth it ... its just brilliant .. ive used the blackberry, e72, iphone .. but the possibilities in this are immense .. make sure u buy a boxed packed with warranty ..all indian htc's roms are 1.48 ...
did have the pink tint issue but the rom update resolved it slightly..

I suggest SatNav or MapMyIndia are the best GPS software out there for India, it covers practicallly every Road w/Road name and ALL the possible POI's.
Agree with khanvis2009 its a great phone overall. I purchased my N900 from New York and used it for a month - inevitably a revolutionary phone but the weak battery life disappointed me. After having switched to HD2, I'vent had a moment of disappointment since then.

It is a great phone. I have used two other models (Jasjam/Tytn, touch etc) in the past, but HD2 is very fast and extremely responsive so far. I am loving my HD2. I can now read ebooks and actually browse and surf comfortably.
It does have some glitches though. Once in a while I have noticed that touch screen stops responding and needs a hard reset. Hopefully the next ROM takes care of these issues.

I played with the HD2 in DOCOMO store in Chennai and I must say I am impressed.
The phone is really fast and responsive and feels solid that the Touch HD that I have now. Battery cover in HD is very thin and always creaks when U try to increase volume or just hold it tight.
Albums , Music tabs all seem to work faster than my HD.
Had my wife along with me and she also said the phone feels and operates much smoother (She has an iphone ) so coming from iphone user that is good comment indeed.
Cost is 37,000 including VAT in DOCOMO but already there is a retailer in Chennai who is listing the phone for 36,000 inc VAT.
Google for - UNIVERCELL -
If only I can get a good price for my Touch HD I will without doubt be changing over to HD2.
lets see...

[July 21][Q] Is it really worth to buy HD2 now?

Hi everybody in this wonderfull forum.
To get straight to the point, I'm planning to get a new phone in the next month.
I've serched alot but found no smartphone has multi-boot abilities like HTC HD2. The HTC HD2 has 'quiet' good hardware in comparison to current smartphones on stores shelves. You all know that already.
The problem is, for an outdated device like that, is it worth buying it new? as i don't trust used smartphones anyway.
The way i see it like this:
Yes, very worthwhile because:
Large nice display;
Multible OS support, live in many worlds;
While WM6.5 is depricated, still very functional specially with HTC sense;
The price is affordable according to the fact that it is old somehow.
No, it's worthless because:
Display is sub-bar to currnet devices display regarding multitouch, 65K colors limitation, and overall quality against S.AMOLED Plus or Retina displays for example;
Multible OS support is great but won't go without issues. At least won't be as fluid as native OS on its own device;
Camera is not decent (no 720p video recording, at least as much as i'm aware of);
The price is affordable yes but i can add up a bit more and get newer phone that is better hardware wise and withought much issues.
I know this question might been asked many times. still i ask as it is time dependent and the answer change over time.
What do you guys recommend me to do?
Buy HTC HD2 and fulfill your needs to 'Have It All' and don't complain about any issues;
The time is over for an outdated device even with multiple OS's possibility, save your money son.
Thank you all in advance,
Ahmed.
Personnally I would go for a newer device. Windows Phone 7 as it stands I don't think is worth having and all the apps are far to expensive. Android is the only thing I would use on this phone. Also after using MIUI (I'm going to say it) I have realised how much I like this Iphone style software, so I might wait around until the new Iphone is out. If not I will be upgrading to something like the new evo 3d.
Having said all that tho I might even hang on to my HD2 for a bit longer as it isn't slow doing anything I throw at it unless I add the new sense onto it.
Hope this helps
Is say buy a re-conditioned hd2 save some money, android feels native to my hd2 its more native than most android devices because it has a bigger team working on it.
Is you want android and you want to save some ££££ get one if you want android and £££££ aren't an issue get the galaxy2

this all comes down to how much you plan on spending for a new phone. also if you wouldn't mind a new to you phone (referb/used) i would check out ebay. you can get them sometimes rather cheap..well under $200. if your due for an upgrade anytime soon then i would get a new device. i will say though, i had the touch pro 2 and then went to a "true" android phone the mytouch 3g slide but i missed all you could do with the tp2 so i sold my mt3gs and bought a hd2 off ebay for $120. i couldn't be happier with this phone. if you wouldnt consider yourself a heavy cell phone user and take the hd2 to its limits i also would say it might be better for you to just buy a new phone. letstalk and wirefly always seem to have good deals on new phones plus if you hunt down promo codes you can save yourself a lot of money. it knocked off $80 on 1 purchase and got a free bluetooth on another.

Not a problem. I even found radioshack at times have good sale prices on they're phones. Thank you,
Just to make it clear, i currently hold Blackberry Curve 8520 that i want to replace. The next phone would be my main phone for at least 2 years. I live in Egypt so no access to T-Mobile stuff i think.
If i to buy a phone, no way i could change soon. my budget now about 3000 L.E or 500 USD. Still, i know phone prices are higher in Egypt than USA so don't let that 500 USD think of high end devices as i wont be able to get them here with that price.
you could always look for a device that could be used world wide and buy it in the U.S offline from someplace like amazon/ebay etc and have it shipped to Egypt. Im really ignorant to what would be in Egypt and wouldn't as far as stores so im not sure what would and wouldn't work. sorry. i did almost buy the g2 from ebay in the UK because it was a lot cheaper there then here in the US and the seller told me it would work but i bought the hd2 instead so i dont know for sure. i can say the hd2 is a gsm phone so like tmobile or if its unlocked you can use at&t. im sure there are ways to get it on different gsm providers but im clueless of how to flash it over.
Yep that's a problem. I don't know what i buy abroad would work here or not. besides shipping has costs plus government share ... i think it'd be the same if i buy form local stores besides the guarantee that what i buy works.
I'm using a second hand one after smashing my old one, never had an issue you'll pick one up for £160 (15k)

Go for new device. Go for Samsung galaxy s2. But if htc hd2 satisfies ur needs then go for it, no need to go for new devices.
go get it!
i've got one just a month ago, after waiting for financial resources.
i think is the best phone ever!
I was wondering about this too and was told that some devs are working on the Desire HD. Might be something to look into.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=765
the htc hd2 can run ROMs that are desire & desire hd base so thats always a plus but considering that the next phone will be your main phone for two years i really think buying a new phone is the best route for you. also if you ask whats a good phone in a specific model thread everyone will tell you they have the best phone so checking out reviews on sites like cnet.com & testfreaks.com are probably your best option as far as getting an idea on a good phone. i still would check the threads after you have an idea on a couple phones you like just to see what people can do with those phone's that aren't really listed in the specs.
Thank you guys for sharing your thoughts. I red them all and figured out this. i like to play with different OS's. This is what i do on PCs so, i guess if i'm bounded to a single OS (however its greatness), i'd miss having other mobiles with other OS's. The HTC HD2 seems a good deal to me. And its hardware is not that bad afterall.
Thank you again,
i buyed a broken hd2 for 90€ 1 month ago. all i can say it's that it's a wonderful smartphone, no other phone on the planet can run 5/6 OS, android feels like native, and developement is still real active. i didn't feel the need of a faster smartphone.
hardware is really good, photo aren't bad, we have 720p recording with wp7 and soon on android too, screen is ok, multitouch is perfect, it lacks video out, but how many time we need a tv-out? (i used tv-out on my ipod video 2/3 times in 3/4 years just to test it), it lack a frontal camera, but hey! i hate calling, i double hate video calling
so i didn't need anything else
Yep you are totaly right in my opinion. However, i saw many videos on youtube complaining about battery life even on the stock os. i know big screen = battery drain faster. but 6 or 8 hours aren't accepted at all as some videos shows. They also said stuff about lags and the need to restart the phone few times weekly and sometimes daily. Can anybody confirm or deny this claim? I'd appreciate it.

Stick with HD2 or upgrade to Galaxy SII?

Hey all
I've just finished an 18 month contract with O2 for a HD2 - which I've just given a refresh with CyanogenMod.
Given contracts are 24 month minimum now for anything decent (free) - should I stick with the HD2 for 12 months on a cheapo sim free deal or upgrade to the SII?
Is it worth it?
Cheers
Upgrade mate i had a HD2 for a year and a half and a superb phone it was as well but this phone is unbeatable.
I bought mine outright as i hate being tied into long contracts never again.
As hardware goes, it is not worth it. SGS2 is about the same, except it is a lot lighter. As for software, well .. its different OS. All is different .. something better, something worse. It really depends what you use the phone for.
i will stick to HTC HD2 as it more solid case than SGS II...
Hmm.. The advantage of going sim only is I'm paying half as much for basically the same tariff - and with CyanogenMod NAND the HD2 is much much improved over running it off sd or windows bloody mobile 6.5.
Support for the HD2 isn't going anywhere anytime soon either is it?
And I don't have the money to buy the SGS2 outright - although I am off to Shanghai in about 3 weeks so I might find one there on the cheeap.
on what reasons mate? do you own both phones ? @miceormen
I think you should upgrade if you are technology freak like any of us owning a SGII

The SoC to start is a dual core ARM A9 compared to the first generation Snapdragon single core, with the ARM A9 alone offering about a 25% speed improvement per core compared to the Snapdragon. The GPU, a Mali 400, is miles better than the Adreno 200, which even the Power SGX 540 bested by at least three times. The screen size is the same, but the SGSII offers much better contrast and viewing angles with its Super Amoled Plus compared to the TFT LCD on the HD2. And this time around, no Pentile! The SGSII camera is much better than the HD2, no comparisons needed.
Samsung's software on the SGSII is actually superb and without lag, unlike its previous generations, and Touchwiz 4.0 actually offers quite an array of improvements to the standard AOSP Android. Take the butter smooth browser as an example.
Unless you truly want the next greatest (Nexus Prime or Tegra 3), then go for it. The Nexus Prime shouldn't offer a huge technological leap over the SGSII, but it does come with AOSP Android. However, heavy development for the SGSII should make up for updates in the case that Samsung chooses to move slowly (Samsung has improved drastically on its update schedules however).
I wouldn't hold on to the HD2 for long since the touchscreen digitzer is bound to fail over time, due to the power button applying pressure to the touchscreen ribbon connector.

I sold my HD2 and an MP3 player to fund my purchase of the GS2 i wanted it that much, i have been in long mobile contracts before, it's worse in the UK 24 months now is usually the norm i was only on an 18 month one but too long and there's nothing you can do unless you pay off your contract,i missed out on some great deals in that time so i swore never again,a rolling monthly contract or PAYG is the only one for me now.
As regards the HD2, i wont have a bad word said against this amazing phone, probably the most "loved" device on XDA but it's time to move on to bigger and better things and it doesn't get much better than the GS2.
Fair enough. Well I think the best plan is to serve up an ultimatum to O2 who I've been with for 8 years and either get a fantastic 18 month SGS2 deal or keep my HD2 and get a Tesco sim. Customer loyalty doesn't seem to mean a great deal these days..
Check out giffgaff. 300 mins ultd text and data ten pounds a month. i had a hd2. played with it but never got it working quite right. got gs2 and its great. camera is soooooo much better. video is sooo much better. screen is amazing. nothing realy uses its power yeat. but that the same with all dual cores. actually started to prefer the feel of this phone. i go back to hd2 and it just feels really heavy and dated. im only paying 15 pounds a month on two year contract. 400 min 1gig ultd text. freeeeeee.
I upgraded to the S2 and I must say I love it. This beast is Blazing fast and I would not trade it in for anything else!
Best,
Sebkinne
But you had to by the SGS2 yourself right? Giffgaff is a sim only operator is it not..?
I thought u were going to tesco pay as u go and waiting. im on orange. the sales guy messed up and i got a great deal. giffgaff is just pay as u go. if u look on tech radar review it has a box saying about where to buy. there were some 18 month contracts for around 30 but u pay 100 for phone.
same problem
Hi Guys,
Having the same problem here, I am very happy with the HD2 with the Platinum ROM of Laurentius26, that I am scratching my head now what to do!
My question is more like stay with the HD2 (Platinum ROM), go with the Galaxy S2 or wait for the iphone5?
The reason is that I am going to receive 2 new Samsung Galaxy S2 via my provider. My initial idea was to sell them (unopened, unused = more money), stay with the HD2 for the moment and wait for the iphone5 to buy and try out. But now I am reading everywhere that the GS2 is such a magnificent device, and I am starting to doubt. Together with the fact that the HD2 is working perfectly for me, but, being a technician, would like to check out the latest.
I am using my device mainly for:
- calling (of course, but good call quality is important)
- SMS (with Swype, absolutely)
- TomTom (I have heard Sygnic is similar, but have a hard time leaving TT)
- Flashlight (unbelievable how many times I am using the flash as a light)
- camera and video (shooting and viewing)
- syncing with Outlook ( a must, but push email is not needed)
- web browsing every now and then
What do you think?
Upgrade, I gave my HD2 to my Dad and bought a SGS2. Definitely worth the upgrade, in the end the HD2 is not a native Android phone and there will always be some issues.

Ha, but this might be the issue, the Platinum ROM is soo made for the HD2, I couldn't even be bothered to try out Android or Win7 on the HD2... yep, the ROM is Win6.5
The best thing i done was get rid of WIN 6.5 on my old HD2 and put NAND Android on it, the HD2 should have been an Android handset from the start.
I love my HD2, but this phone is far better in every way, I got my GS2 for 18 month contract, only 21 quid a month, god bless 02 customer loyalty!top deal

not agree with that, I got less issues with my NAND droid rom on my HD2, then with my GS2, infact its flawless my HD2!
I was a loyal Windows Mobile user since 2003. Had several devices and only the HD2 could live somewhat up to being a really usable device. I had tested Android on my Blackstone and there it was like WinMo nearly unusable. So when I tried out Android on my HD2 simply because I was bored and wanted to see what my device could do, I was surprised. It was faster and more stable than any WinMo device/Rom combo I have ever used. Many features didn't work, but it didn't matter to me. Since then I have become an Android fan, since it is much more user friendly, stable, faster, looks better and has better support for new apps. Never went back to WinMo besides updating quickGPS. Now Android works nearly flawless on the HD2. But I decided to get a SGS2 from ebay, since it has a better screen, camera (It's really muuuuch better) and media playback capabilities.(including HDMI) In everyday usage it isn't really faster than my HD2 since that would be nearly impossible. But another aspect I didn't consider would prevent me from switching back now : The weight. It feels much better in the hand, especially if you are reading a book or surf for a long time. And everything just works out of the box. I nevertheless got a custom ROM with root and switched to ADW launcher since I got accustomed to their benefits on my HD2. Will switch to CyanigenMod as soon as codecs, OTG and MHL are fully working. But considering that these are all features the HD2 does not have, I would say CM is as far as it is on the HD2. Also the HD2 isn't sturdier than the HD2. My HD2 can be twisted and there is a gap between case and battery cover. My SGS2 does not have these problems.
In the end I would say the choice depends on your preferences and money. When I looked at eBay 2 weeks ago, the HD2s with similar or worse conditions then mine got prices from 200-250€ min. I bought it 1.5 years ago for 350€. Now I bought my SGS2 for 450€(that was the Max price I was ready to pay). When I get around to it, I will sell my HD2 and I won't regret it. I had a great time with it and there probably will never be a phone which was it's time that much ahead(there are many new devices inferior to the HD2, in fact pretty much everything up to the release of the SGS2 wasn't much of an improvement if any at all) and could break the software restrictions (thanks to the community) that much. But everything has an expiration date. And for tech junkies that has been reached for the HD2, I think.

[Q] Took late to buy an HD2?

So my birthday is coming up, and I was wondering if should stick with getting the HD2 off of amazon, I had my eyes set for a Nokia N900 for a long time, but since they are ditching Maemo there is no point in buying one.... and the N9 is going to be wayy to expensive for me.
So any suggestions? I'm pretty much a n00b to the smartphone world, but basically I want a phone that is versatile like the N900 or HD2, but nothing proprietary please.

Too late and not worth the money spent anymore. I personally would pay no more than $199 for this device new, and $100 ~ 130 for it used. This is my perspective.

Actually I own a N900 and HD2. I bought my N900 about 2 yrs ago. It's a great phone and hardware at that time. But now can't compete with newer processors. But still I love my N900 and it has better cellular signal reception than HD2. Comes with front camera and it works great with Skype over 3G or WiFi. But only problem is Nokia abandoned that great device. (but Nokia gave me a great customer service and replaced my phone to new one after warranty period)
Because of lack of support and apps I decided to get a Android phone and week and half ago I bought my HTC HD2. Tested it for couple of days and flashed Android. I'm happy with it.

Didn't read everything through....
DO NOT EVEN think about Nokia N900 If anything goes wrong with the phone.... yer on your own. Nokia has the worst customer support I know.
Example: My son owns N900... USB/Charging port went bad, got un-soldered...
What do you know..... Called and emailed whoever I could, to get the motherboard....I'm paying customer, I do not ask for freebies,,,,,, What happened... NOTHING!!! No one even moved the finger to help.... Ended up with buying external charger and couple of batteries....And that's the company trying to lead the world in cellphone technology.... NEVER EVER NOKIA in my house!!!!!
I saw this last post and it made me happy. At least Nokia USA treated me nicely. My phone was almost 2 years old and few weeks ago noticed cellular signal drop when I press the phone or if phone is in my pocket. I contacted Nokia customer service even my phone is out of warranty (it came with one year warranty). Had to communicate couple of times back and forth with customer service and then they asked me to send a phone for repair. I told then I'm not spending any more money on that phone. Then they said, they will make a exception and repair it as under warranty. They even provided free shipping labels to send it. Within 5 days after they received it got a email saying they are replacing my phone and it's on the way. I couldn't wait to see how the replacement is. Finally I got it and... OMG it was a brand new phone and only thing wasn't there was a battery which I didn't send them.
Now I have brand new N900 and HTC HD2
I would buy another Nokia phone only if they come up with well know OS such as Android. I don't trust any software they start.

Now that is not true. The HD2 distorts far too easily where as the SGS doesn't, plus with the new custom kernels with Voodoo sound. It can easily out do the HD2 for audio quality, call quality is in the HD2 favour however...

you got a bad phone. It is too late to claim warranty.
I have two hd2 s , voice quality is much better than my three Samsung vs, infuse and tab 7
I don't think it's too late. Although myself have moved onto the sensation, with its dust in the screen's issue...
I just sold a sealed and unopened hd2 on ebay for $350, although after ebay, paypal, and shipping charges I'm only making $300. Not bad for a year and half old phone.
Thinking back though, it's only been a little more than a year since hd2 was released on tmous. It feels much longer though...due to the fast refresh of phones now days. In the late 90s, people stick with their phones forever really..

why dont u keep the fone, they are getting harder to find in mint condition.. dont forget to delete the sms_registry and the SMS log if on 6.5 and u sell it
i found some highly sensitive sms on my T.M HTC HD2 when i bought mine from previous owner
This should be posted in the Marketplace section found here.
On a side note I bought a new phone as well about a month or two ago, the HTC MyTouch 4G Slide.
This phone for me has great specs. Dual-core, slide out keyboard and what a lot of people say is the
best camera ever put on a cell phone (same as Amaze 4G if i'm not mistaken). Well anyway I've used
my new phone a total of 3-4 times in the past several weeks. I just can't for the life of me let my HD2 go.

I hear you In fact, I am after a motherboard to assemble second HD2 I have in bits waiting to be fired up. I play with lots of various latest models and as much as I liked Galaxy SII, especially in terms of camera and general speed, I will not be parting with my HD2 any time soon. I feel tempted by One X though...
I'll admit the specs on the HTC One look pretty great and would love the phone myself as well. I would need to see how big the screen is though. I came from the two smaller phones to the HD2 and it took some getting use to in my pocket. Infact for the first few days it felt more like a small book in my pocket then a phone. Since the HTC One is close to a half inch larger i would need to play around with it before buying.
I don't know what's next for me. anything with hardware capable of lasting as long as the hd2
HTC one X - this will be another popular thread in XDA & HD2 will be heading to the Legacy department
...but i wil still keep my HD2 untill the day it dies
Keep as a back up. Hd2 is a legend
