k[Q] Will the Kindle Fire have a physical keyboard attachment? - Kindle Fire General

Does anyone know if there will be a physical keyboard attachment for the Kindle Fire? Or do you think that it'll be possible to use a Galaxy Tab keyboard attachment for the Fire? I've googled it and I've found nothing. Any comments?

No dock connector, no bluetooth, no USB A-type ports. It's possible you can get the Fire to act in USB Host mode through the micro USB port, but unlikely and probably requires building your own USB connector. I can't post links yet, so google "USB Host mode on Motorola Droid" for the article.

[Q] How to use USB Keyboard with Motorola Atrix

Hi
I have following questions:
1) How do I use Computer USB Keyboard with Motorola Atrix ?
2) Is it possible to connect Motorola Atrix with Laptop and you can use Laptop Keyboard and Laptop Screen to see and use everything in Atrix without using Motorola Webtop laptop ?
Thanks
In the Atrix Development forum you'll find a hack that allows you to use the Atrix webtop on any monitor/TV with HDMI. Pair a bluetooth mouse and keyboard with your Atrix to use them on the webtop. Works great here, didn't even require root.
Also, if you have a HD multimedia dock, you can plug a USB mouse or keyboard into the available USB ports in the back of the dock. It works well!

see above post, that's what I am using (I forgot to specify that it was USB wireless), a Logitech (can't remember model number) wireless USB keyboard and mouse. works perfectly, even the volume buttons, etc. on the keyboard.

If you're not using the HD multimedia dock (via the Webtop hack), then no, you can't use them as there are no USB ports you can plug your receiver into. You will have to settle for bluetooth devices.
Callen81 has a video that shows how USB hardware can be connected to the Atrix. It requires soldering two connections, and a powered USB hub, but it can be done.
HDMI mirroring, from what I can understand from your broken English (I'm not hating, but it's true.) is not possible on the Atrix (yet!). You can, however, see the mobile OS from webtop mode in a separate window. And on the laptop, you can plug in USB keyboards and mice to the ports in the back.

actually mirroring was enabled (see dev forum), but it's not as easy. it also will only show portrait mode (no landscape)

Yes, and the point is that it's still got the same, if not worse, performance that it would have on Webtop mode. At least, I think.
If the Atrix can read USB sticks (?) then would plugging a standard USB stick, which has a USB1-typeA-plug on it, require a converter that was a "USB1 Type A recepticle" converting to a "USB2-micro-TypeB-plug?
Would that be the correct nomenclature for the USB adapters, and does anyone know if you can buy that premade, or whether the Atrix absolutely will or won't recognize a USB stick that way?
I'm also looking for some USB2-micro-TypeB-plugs either on or off a wire, to try adding the drop resistor to pin 5 so I can tell the Atrix "You're in a car dock now" or just "you're in a dock now" and force it into the other modes.
I'll probably roll my own car dock, mainly because I want my Atrix (in an Otter Commuter) to be secured in the dock. Really secured, so if I flip and roll and total out the car, the Atrix is still exactly where I left it. The spring-clip jobbies will turn your phone into a missile if someone whacks into you, making calls for help impossible.

ATRIX USB port

OK so we know that the ATRIX rocks. Able to dock and serve 720p video and all that to a external monitor. And while using the Multimedia dock or laptop dock you can even plug in external USB devices. My question is this. Should the phone be able to handle that natively?
What will happen if I plug in a external USB switch will 2 way communication function?
Will an external keyboard be recognized?
Now that we have WEBTOP without the dock I think it would be great to have a keyboard without Bluetooth.
As always your comments are appreciated in advance.
Yes, I believe USB Host Mode is enabled by default in the stock kernel.

See this topic. There is all you need
This is not development.
Sorry did not know where it went.

Kindle Fire support USB on-the-go?

Can I buy an otg cable to read external memory cards or external Bluetooth USB? Or does kindle fire support MHL tv output? Using micro-USB to have tv out features?
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA Premium App
I've been curious about this as well, and there are several threads on Amazon.com regarding this. So far, there haven't been any successful reports in getting the Kindle recognizing an external USB device - in other words, no evidence of USB host support, as far as I know.
wondering OTG function need the hardware support or driver support?
Nope, not working on mine.
Hardware-wise, it looks like it should, and there seems to be a way to get the battery charger to kick power out the USB connector.
Has anyone tried external memory to Kindle Fire to check if OTG feature is present or not..??

[Q] Usb webcam support? Old Thread Missing Files?

I'm looking for the new instructions for this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1105497
I can't find any of the downloads as the links lead to a 404 Error. Which means cant be found. So does anyone have these files still?
Nook Color Tweaks has a host mode toggle.
Pretty much any of the newish Roms will have USB host mode. I don't know about the webcam part (and don't have the right usb adapter to test it.

Thanks will try this, I installed the app, so should I just enable USB HOST MODE, then use this piece USB 2.0 A Female to Micro-B Male Adapter to connect my usb keyboard in? and it should process it? sorry noob here
If you are going to be able to get it to work at all you will likely need a powered hub as well.....

My Kindle Fire is not recognizing my OTG

I have a Kindle Fire HD 10 (11th gen), I bought a case with keyboard, the keyboard is connected with USB, so I use due OTG to USB C... but, my tablet don't recognize the Keyboard, don't work at all. my first thought was that maybe the OTG adapter or the keyboard were broken, but both works perfectly with my Xiaomi. I even tried to connect a 8gb USB with the OTG adapter, neither works (my xiaomi so read the USB memory).
I already do a factory reset, any suggestion? Maybe I should root? I really need the keyboard for writing my thesis when I'm not at home.
